I think it’ll probably be on hit. Living Butterfly converts into Departed Butterfly at end turn, so it can be consumed on the next turn. When SL Yi Sang’s SP goes high enough and he starts getting more Departed ammo, I imagine the goal is for him to use his S3 and offload all Living & Departed ammo onto the enemy, reload, and try to do it again. On hit wouldn’t be so bad as long as the total amount Yi Sang could potentially offload is a lot. Living Butterfly is just Departed Butterfly gained next turn, and Yi Sang is constantly going to be inflicting it with every hit, so rather than worrying about keeping the Departed Butterfly stack up (although it does real more damage the higher it is), what’s still more important is maintaining the base sinking stack.

To all the people who expected Solemn Lament to be Rupture: Did you not notice that the EGO Gift from the MD is NOT EVEN FROM FUNERAL!? It's based on the Aberration, (temp name) the Jobseeker, that we meet in that one MD choice encounter. It's not based on Funeral itself any more than the Poise Pendant is based on Der Shooty, which is to say not at all.

Another reason why the Solemn Lament EGO is so good on Linton Greg is the EGO passive. It gives 1 atk up if you have a negative effect, and Linton Greg can put Sinking on himself to have it permanently active. Or I guess the Fragile from his own passive also works. It's just a free +1 to all your attacks at the very least, which is definetly worth considering

There is no way it's going to be anything but bleed. At best, there would be bloodfeind hunter IDs that knows how to cauterize wounds or something with bi-status synergy.
@whodis4097 I would not abandon all hope, as this was the Season of Sinking, but it still got some major Tremor additions. Even if the Canto's main story doesn't cover burn, there's still a chance the Intervallo will.

To be fair PM never stated if butler’s mark for ryoshu would expire in the id preview and we had to find out it expired by 1 on turn end.
If it's -1 departed on turn end it's still incredibly good. My fear is that it's gonna expire on hit and be borderline useless
