Everybody talks about Buddy the guitar player. Can we just take a moment and acknowledge how great a blues singer this man is?

Elmore James - great slide guitar player & his voice cut deeper than the guitar licks.

Buddy wanted to play, but nobody knew him. There was a contest at a popular nightclub, similar to an open mic night, and Muddy wanted Buddy to play, as he knew that Buddy could play - but Buddy was weak from hunger and was talking about going back to Louisiana. So Muddy made Buddy eat a salami sandwich - out in his car - before sending him in, to play. So, Buddy played and impressed everybody, and this not only helped Buddy get started, but established Muddy as a kind of godfather of the blues in Chicago. It's true, and plus, it's a great story.
Buddy's playing inspired many of the crop of young white guitar players, especially English ones. Some American guys got lucky and learned from the Blues guys, but it was tough, and could be very dangerous. It's nice that you can learn it - and SEE much of it - on video. Enjoy the show.
