UPDATE. 12/20/2022 I picked up the new Apple TV 4K 2022 with Hdr10+. YES IT MAKES A HUGE DIFFERENCE to my Samsung QN90A picture quality. The details pop more and the colors are in tune. I also have a roku4 ultra and it supports Hdr10+ but it doesn’t produce the same results. Head scratcher for sure. The sound on my older 5.1 soundbar even sounds a lot better with the Apple TV. Super happy I bought it. So if you are on the fence GET THE NEW APPLE 4K 2022!!!
@@shaazsphotohub apparently everything should be able to display HDR10+ if you have latest ATV All content weather streaming or purchased movies Amazon Prime is already HDR10+
I have an LG C1 and an S95B. I actually do not like the look of DV and turn it off on my LG. The image doesn’t pop and while it might be “accurate” I literally don’t care as long as highlights and blacks aren’t crushed. With DV the image just looks washed out all the time, muted of all colors. But standard HDR to my eyes looks better on the C1 when I calibrate it myself. I would love to see more HDR10+ content, I think DV is a walled garden technology that isn’t a set it and forget it solution.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that HDR 10+ content (mostly from Amazon Prime) can now be watched on later model Samsung sets streamed from the 4K Apple TV. This was enabled through software update to the ATV. You don’t need to purchase the new 2022 ATV model to have this enabled on your Samsung set.
That's true not necessary to buy a new Apple tv box when u can get the same HDR 10+ on the app 🍎 but thanks to this companie HDR 10 + format It will be more popular😎
I have tried Apple tv shows and movies, all are now supporting HDR 10+. Amazon prime 4k HDR content is primarily in HDR10+. Hopefully Netflix will also support it in future.
There are only 3 big ones left that don't use HDR 10 + Netflix/Hbo/Disney The fact that samsung is No.📺The fact that Samsung is the No. in sales of 📺Could influence, I hope
Congratulations on your OLED SAMSUNG TV! From what I found it looks like Apple will be adding HDR10+ to the app. Here is a quote I found, “The Apple TV app for smart TVs will finally be able to play content in HDR10+. Apple is rolling out an update to its Apple TV app for smart TVs and other devices, bringing high-quality video support for Apple TV+ content as well as for iTunes movies.”
Hi Jordan. I have a 2019 Q80R, 65”. I was excited to see the support for HDR10+ and got the ATV to replace my 2021 model. The first thing I discovered was my Denon X4400H doesn’t pass the HDR10+ signal through even though it apparently does for DV. Sigh, I talked with Denon Support but my hope for a firmware update is small. I doubt I’m the only one with this combo so, there’s a small hope. What I also learned when I direct connected the ATV to my TV was where to confirm what the TV was seeing. Go to the smart menu/settings and look at the marker with your current picture settings. The label will say HDR10+ if it is or HDR if that. With this knowledge I found that many Apple movies and shows labeled as Dolby Vision were also HDR10+ but not properly labeled in the info screen. I don’t use ARC , Harmony remote, so I’m in a pickle. So close but so far.
Doubtful the X4400H will get HDR 10+ support. If it were in Denon's interest/possibility, they would've release the firmware update with the release of the updated 2020/2021 X4700H and X4800H (even the 2018 X4500H didn't get HDR10+ support)
@@mohamedbhamani6555 thank you for posting. I couldn’t believe I was the only one with an AppleTV and late model Samsung TV. I did call Denon and register a complaint. It was only recently that I learned where to look to see on the TV to see if HDR10+ was active. I didn’t realize a Blu-ray I was playing that has 10+ was being stripped of it by the Denon. HDR works of course so I didn’t know I’d was failing. Now I checked that to and sure enough the Denon was stripping it. How can it pass DV and not 10+ that had to take some skill. @@jbs256 completely agree. I will definitely contact them and see how we get along. I did briefly flirt with the idea of using a device such as HD Fury to split the signal and send audio to avr and video directly to TV, but we shouldn't have to really figure out such workarounds.
Its high time all TV brands should start supporting all HDR formats even though it isnt necessary if your TV is bright enough like 1200+ nits peak brightness at least.
Just bought a 65QN90B and with everything I’ve been hearing about Samsung firmware updates I’m keeping it fully off line. Going to grab this latest Apple TV and see how it works out.
I don’t like making negative comments but listening to this man talk it’s extremely hard. With his monotone voice, it’s comparable to watching paint dry……!
I’m so glad I went with the LG C1. It’s just perfect for me so far. The tv speakers were not the best so I upgraded to a Bose smart soundbar 600 with bass module 500! And it’s perfect for me.
I had an older RPTV burn in so I never would buy an OLED. It’s looking like some current OLEDs are claiming to have that issue solved, including the new Samsung.
C1 is a great tv. I also went with the QD oled from Samsung. It has the perfect contrast of the c1 with the vivid colors and brightness of a high end LED

Dude where did you get your info? Nearly every 4k movie standard is hdr or hdr10+. It’s more widely available then Dolby vision, and to top it off most people wouldn’t even notice the difference when steaming since you wouldn’t get full pass through through internet. Great question, it could be a number of factors why your tv is not receiving a 4K read out. Some things to check are, is the the cable HDMI 2.1, watching tv on cable and satellite traditionally do not support full 4K, and internet speed not enough bandwidth for 4K, etc. But yes you should be able to get 4K with the Apple TV if you have an HDMI 2.1 connection and enough internet bandwidth to support 4k. Hope this helps
