After watching this, I realize I left off the vTX antenna, which will run you about $10, and I left off the receiver, which will run you about $15-$25. So.... I dunno if $200 is even possible. But I think this is just about the best you can possibly get.

Happy model fyujon, ELRS and 400mW VTX (which I think is underrated) for 20 bucks through aliexpress and I think it comes with a linear antenna. If you go through pyro it's 30 bucks but you still get ELRS and VTX. It is a ceramic antenna though but I've had no issues with it on my race builds so far.

The Darwin FPV Johnny 5 comes in under 169.00, it has an 800mw vtx, I think just 4s for the motors, but the stack seems 6s capable, hard to beat if it fly's, they also have a lightweight 7 inch for 169.00.

After including props, antenna and receiver, the budget is up to around 240-250 usd.
For $260 you can buy prebuilt analog IFlight Nazgul5 v2, comes with an 800mW vTX and F722 FC. $275 for the ELRS version. Which I think is an excellent option, if you don't want to deal with sourcing the parts and building

The nazgul is a fucking sweet quad, i got one 1.5 maybe 2 years ago and it still rips after many crashes. I broke a motor but thats only cus i smashed a pole. Overall the nazgul is fuggin excellent and would definitly reccomend to a new pilot vs building a budget quad.

It’s really tough to build when good deals happen, this past summer I was nosing around various sites and GetFPV had the GEPRC Mark4 HD for $299 in their clearance section, looking back I should have bought 2 of them.

Recently bought the JB kit and followed along with the build guide since it was my first ever quad. Very detailed guide, drone is a blast to fly and surprisingly tough. Ive only had to replace one arm so far (and numerous props) but other than that it has taken everything I have dished out with my inexperience in quads. I went with a Crossfire Rx which made it a little difficult to get all the software side of things figured out but I was eventually able to get it after switching between multiple videos in the J.B. School of everything FPV and Quads. I have nothing to compare the quad to since I haven't flown anything else but would recommend it to anyone who wants to get started in this hobby! Thanks JB!

wow, i didn't realize this price raise in FPV. i have bought Nazgul 5 6s analog BNF 1-2 years ago for nearly half of today price. At that point, buying parts separately for DIY was more expensive than getting exact same drone but prebuilt from iflight. Taranis qx7, Hawkeye Little Pilot VR googles (for my particular needs it was best fpv purchase yet) and few extra batteries and i was set up to go for pretty cheap as FPV goes. Those Hawkeye Frankenstein googles were discontinued so I'm glad that i risk getting something out of the box which actually works, is much more comfortable than box googles, cheaper than most recommended entry level stuff, diversity! and most important for me - excellent air flow!

Multiple batteries, goggles, charger, and a radio ..... Get ready to bust out $1K total. And that's still assuming you have a decent soldering iron and a itty bitty hex driver. .... Also you should get some simulator time ($20) ...

I don't think you will see this but i may ask when live. They make supercapacitors. If when flying you lose some power or drop in power why don't you put supercapacitors on each motor? When you have a car amp if you have a slight power loss. If the power drops off they give it a boost to keep it consistent. Not regular capacitors i am specifically talking about super and ultra capacitors. Might be a good experiment.

    • @JoshuaBardwell
      @JoshuaBardwell  Рік тому +2

Supercapacitors take up a lot of space, especially when you are dealing with high voltages. The battery itself is a big capacitor, in a sense. You just size the battery and choose its C rating to be able to supply what the motors need.

So I started off with the original fly sky receiver, and when I went to takeoff the 1 ESC‘s that was on the arm burned up. So I decided to just take the frame get a Speedy Bee F7 V2 flight controller and ESC’s in one. I decided to buy the Xing 2207 1800kv motors and when I bound it to my FlySky if someone like it was heaven going up. Another words I felt like if I kept on with the accelerator it would probably shut down. You have a reason why that would happen??? I’m just curious. I’m hoping you can help me with that.

the foxeer nano razor sucks, because no OSD control...
I have that thing and it is not that great.
and I bought the t motor Velox V2s, almost got the 1950kv 2306's, but then realized that the 2207s 1750 kv are way more efficient.
I don't know if that is 2306 vs 2207 specific, or KV specific.. but I think that the 2306 have less stator material , thicker stator laminations than more expensive motors.
they do cut down on materials on these, so I guess more copper wire (less kv) means also better efficiency, combined with a little bit more stator volume on the 2207s.

Unfortunately, the trend of higher component and product costs in China is not ending, and will actually accelerate over time (along with wage/manufacturing costs) due to major demographic miscalculations and general mis reporting of population in China only now coming to light. China is in real trouble far more than you probably have heard.

If building a racing quad, happymodel pancake FC with built in ELRS and open VTX could get you under 200 maybe but wouldn't recommend for freestyle because of ceramic antenna

you can cut costs by using fpv camera with a vtx and with an antenna. So it is possible to have drone under 200 $

Hi Josh would you be able to build a budget drone using Australian dollars, I get a lot of hate when I ask for people to build one in australia, saying things like “I’m not doing this because your too lazy to convert to Australian dollars” what they don’t understand is if I could build a drone here for under $307 AUD it would be amazing. unfortunately for that price I could only afford the stack, frame and maybe receiver, my last tiny whoop cost me in excess of $650😔
