67 Volvo Amazon 122s Front Brake Rebuild - Part 6 Make it STOP
Вставка

- This is Part 6 of our Abandoned Amazon Series! We knocked out the will it run potion of it. Yes, it runs! Yes it DRIVES!!!
Now we need to work on the brakes. Part 5 you saw me pull the brakes off of the car and during a live stream I drilled the caliper bodies in order to get to the rusted in place pistons. Using a punch I was able to hammer the pistons out of the halves.
ENJOY!!!
If you haven't seen the other parts of this series CHECK THEM OUT HERE!

Good job on the 122 Dean!
Thanks buddy hope you are doing well
@@DeanofMachines As a welder, I had something to say about the plug welds but they are technically adequate.
Get your O-ring lubricated, well that's good advice for lots of things 😂
The amount of marriages this advice could have saved!
@@DeanofMachines hahaha as long as you have the right lube 😂😂
Amazon name for a good reason , A long and winding river of ownership !
Your wives face says it all !
Looking good does the old motor @
Dean of Machines....
Long winding river of expenses LOL.
What do you mean about the old motor?
Nice FD’s
Thank you! The next couple weeks should be RX7 content. We have a few older videos with them as well!
yea i have three and thier nice cars they good with good with my jeep scramblers
Excellent! We also have a tdi Jeepster Commando
Commenting down below because I ALWAYS misplace stuff in my garage. It's so frustrating to know I have a sensor, seal, part ect but I can't find it! I'm looking forward to spring coming back (it's low 30 F) and I don't want to work in the cold. Haha.
Great video! Your editing is amazing. I am going to have to invest in a laptop soon!
Thanks man I appreciate the kind words about my editing. I'm still learning. We were hovering right at 50 degrees this morning but it's warmed up to about 70 now. Absolutely SUFFERING!
Good afternoon Dean, thanks for the content, u changed.my mind on whether to save this one, she's gonna be lots of fun! 😁
Welcome back Charles! This thing is a blast to cruise in! Happy I dragged it home!
It's so much fun watching you having fun with this thing! :D. Good progress! This is what I needed! Yeah. Gonna grab some wrenches and try to fix something today, or just maybe don't destroy anything? Anyway, awesome stuff buddy! Keepem comin' 🙌
Thank you Marcin! I'm having a blast working in this thing
I liked the frozen caliper disassembly solution. Welding the hole seems ideal. Definitely better than cutting threads for a pipe plug, which is probably what I'd end up doing (right before I crashed).
I did consider cutting threads and plugging but thought I'd give my welder a chance to penetrate the thick metal. I haven't seen anyone attack a caliper this way but it seems to be holding up soo far! Most of the time people just chuck a caliper in this condition.
I would NEVER drill the body, with the body disassembled (not recommenden by the vendors of the rebuild kits, small body o-rings are NOT included) it is easy to put some spotwelds inside the old piston and/or weld some lever to it to get some grip and pull them out, they are to be trashed anyway.
Where did you get the seals and pistons to rebuild the calipers?! Need to do this to mine!
VP Autoparts! Tell em Dean sent ya!
😊😊😊
Hey man do you know anything about the rear brake valves on a 67 122s with the split left and right brake valves
Are you referring to the brake shoes?
No it’s the two proportioning valves under body before axle that supply variable pressure to rear brakes
@@motorradingaround1220 oh, the proportioning valves I have not messed with yet.
