The Most Important Upgrade for any Volvo - Brake Light Switch

- Be seen! The brake light switch on these cars can be very fickle. Often times the pedal pressure is not enough to illuminate the brake lights in an old Volvo, if it sticks or leaks--as has even happened to new switches--you lose the brake lights. The brake lights are pretty small in old Volvo Amazons so it helps to have this small insurance working for you.
See you soon with a 164 update :)

"Between Two Volvos" - could be a great channel name.
''That's how I roll'' is another, since Volvo is Latin for 'I roll'.
My new favorite channel even though I can't keep up with cars or where he is living 👍🔥🔥
LA is home. Work is international
@@DavidBello what do you do for work? I kinda assumed you just do youtube
Thanks for posting this. I really needed a break from reality.
brake from reality...
Davids got his Mojo back...Fab.
Amazing what a meal and shower can do
Seeing Geneveve and Bruce gives me hope for Jade (or whatever the 164 is called). You do awesome work!
Nice to see the fun is back.
No need to apologise for the break from the green beast.
I must say when you turned the camera on Genevieve's and Bruce's engine bays they looked really nice with the new paint. Those two Amazons are beautiful. Nice work. When every thing is clean and painted everything is easy to find and looks good. Easy to work on too. Cheers.
Bruce was born in 1962. His Volvo was definitely built in 1962. You can recognize the early years of the Volvo Amazon by the old design of the trunk handle.
Dear David Bello.
👍👌👏 Well done. Nevertheless: I miss ol' girl Ivy.
Thanks a lot for making teaching explaining recording editing uploading and sharing.
Best regards luck and health.
When you think of the brake light switch, all the cars right up to the86-90 240s have the same swich like Genevieve I believe the 164, 140 models use the same application.
If you depress brake pedal and wedge a stick, pipe, etc, between driver’s seat and pedal you can change things like that switch a caliper, or other things other than master cylinder without great bleeding fuss. The piston in master cyl will be past the feed hole and the reservoir is blocked from draining. The switch in this case can be unscrewed and new one screwed in and there will not be a mess of fluid and only a small bubble of air. The bleeding only needs to be done by keeping pedal depressed and loosen the switch. I would do that bleed step 2 or 3 cycles. This same trick will keep system from draining any time something is removed and will remain disconnected for hours or days (again this doesn’t apply if the removed piece is the master cylinder). Cars with ABS can be hell to get air bleed out if they drain so this pedal pushed down trick is WAY useful on those to avoid a big headache.
Use anti shake washers to stop the bolt working loose... Or a nylock nut?? Great vlog! So glad I found your channel... 😎
This is great.
The dimples will help. I might recommend a dab of panel bond in between for a solid connection.
Hey, David I don't have a volvo but I still love watching your videos 😁
I was trying to see how the pedals are hung. It almost looks like the factory Ford switch used from the 70s through the 90s would work. It would not require any drilling except for running the wires, as it mounts to the rod that the pedal pivots on. It captures the end of the pedal arm. The reverse of the switch you used, the contacts close when the plunger is pushed in.
David, you’re awesome! And nice glasses 🤓 👍🏻
Used to have a 2 door -64 B18 SuperSport with overdrive, never had any problem with the broke light. It was more problems with the o-ring in the clutch hydraulic assembly 😁
Super glad that I don’t have to deal with that on my 1800
You left this Sars cov2 Depression behind you mh? I am still in it and your fresh appearence gives me Hope! Nice Outfit you got there!😁
Drill a second hole in your bracket prior to fitting it, then when you do fit it there will be a starting hole for you to drill through into the car body, east peasy really.
Grymt jobbat 😎👍🏻
- Good ideas. Smart guy 👌
This is what I did on my 122 when rebuilding it. I don't trust hydraulic sensors like that.
Do i spot pedal bars bended to the left in Geneveve (1:46) ? why and how did that happen?
Bro u need to do that one to mine haha I don’t have Brake lights
Oh no! This needs to happen ASAP brother
Gosh.. is the beige Volvo totally unused?!
