DCP vs IXO Kenworth K100 Face Off for the 1976 Bicentennial of the United States of America

- America's Bicentennial happened in 1976 and major corporations celebrated with special products just for the occasion. Like Kenworth released 200 K100 Aerodynes with the VIT 200 package. This has been a popular truck to replicate in scale.
DCP (Diecast Promotions) under the First Gear ownership released their version of the K100 VIT 200 last year.
This year a new 64th scale toy truck maker joined the fight for who makes the best diecast truck cab for the money.
IXO Models released their version of the Kenworth K100 VIT 200 in 64th scale to go head to head with DCP.

Great job Logan.
While I like the DCP much better overall, the shape of the bumper on the DCP is weird, the IXO nailed it. But I'm betting the IXO doesn't lend itself to taking apart and customizing.
Which model is better? For the money IXO.

Logan, would you consider a product review for the Peterbilt 389 with the bridge beam load that DCP/First Gear released last year?
The ixo is a better bank for your buck but dcp have extra graphics, opening parts and metal on the casting and the trailer. But overall, ixo did very well.

2027 will be the 45TH Anniversary of the classic 1982-86 ABC/CBS crime drama series “TJ HOOKER” starring William Shatner. Now, there’s a second season episode titled “THIEVES HIGHWAY” wherein dozens of owner-operators are up against an organized thug named Alan Tanner who runs the produce company known as Six Star, and he’s more than bound and determined to buyout all of the owner-operators and monopolize every semi truck he possibly can. Now, one of these trucks in question is an International Transtar II cabover with the lettering of Zack Pappas & DTR General Trucking painted on the cab doors. Sadly, due to the sabotaging of the brakes by a Chicago hoodlum named Vic Keller, this truck bursts into a huge fireball.
Meanwhile, Tanner has other tricks up his sleeves like setting up Zack’s daughter Mary to be ambushed by Vic Keller, especially when accomplice Don Morgan spills the beans, and Tanner tries to take Police Commissioner Cook as a hostage, but surrenders as soon as he realizes that if he kills the commissioner, only then will he go to the morgue with the compliments of Sergeant Hooker. Then it’s just a race against time as Keller has now taken Mary Pappas and the family’s pet orangutan Venus hostage, and in the process he proves to the commissioner that sometimes a law enforcement officer needs to use a chokehold to get a suspect to surrender to avoid the confrontation with the trial board to explain allegedly unnecessary shootings in spite of the alleged statistics that say otherwise about the chokeholds.
Eventually, Tanner is looking at life without parole with Morgan booked as an accessory both after and before the fact while it’s also proven that the former owner of Six Star Produce had been murdered by Vic Keller on Tanner’s orders, which gets Keller the gas chamber all because the three of them happen to be defended by Richard Bay, future Assistant District Attorney for the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the 1997-2004 ABC lawyer drama series of “THE PRACTICE”.
Thus, not only does Commissioner Cook find out just exactly how wrong she was, but she realizes that we must go through times when officers of the law have to forget about going by the book in order to avoid potential blood baths.
Now, just to be on the safe side, feel free to check out the episode in question via a complete series “TJ HOOKER” box set on DVD, and pictures of the International Transtar II cabover semi truck used in the episode can be found at www.imcdb.org on its “TJ HOOKER” page, just in case we need some proof to possibly persuade DCP to make a 1/64 scale model of that truck with an unmarked 40’FT Great Dane reefer trailer?
Like the gold frame on the dcp but the ixo is nice
The gold frame is correct for the real truck, Wish IXO had done the gold frame. But the first time DCP made the bicentennial way back when the K100 came out had a black frame
I dont recall hearing you talk about the windshields, if you notice ixo has the correct small corner window where the dcp is flat. Small details that stand out to me. The steering and tilt cab is cool, but i rarely have tilted the cab other than to show a friend it does it...ill save 40 a cab to skip that feature
First impression based upon "look" alone, the ISX caught my attention first. Your description of the details had me leaning toward DCP. If I was considering value as a collectable, based upon your evaluations, I go back to ISX.

i have both dcp and ixo,,,, all i did was paint the frame with a brush bye removeing the cab. ,, theres a screw below,, ,,,,,,,, then i opened up the aluminum wheeles with a .o35 drill bit. and bit holder,, [ i do that with dcp also,, ] cleans the excess chrome out of te holes,,,,, , then i paint thge antennas who likes chrome antennas. then top them off with a lil dot of red on the top i also cyt the full fenders down to 1/4 fenders [ i did te same with the bj truck]. then paint them red along. withe stack brackets and the aircleaner stack

However, just hacksaw the whale tail from the roof of the IXO model of the semi truck from “BJ & THE BEAR” for a start.
IXO has the whale tail on the roof. should this even be there? they did the same thing on the BJ & Bear truck and that is innacurate!
