Had an original version which was stolen but managed to find another a few years ago. It had a problem where it seemed the mids were too much (even at 0) and was making a buffering sound so I replaced all of the components and now it is as sweet as it should be. Gary Moore was the best guitarist IMO
The only pedal I own that I’ll never give up. I’d give up my TS-10 first. I got it new in ‘89... still have the box. I stopped looking for distortions after I got this. My search was over. I’ll sometimes go without using it for a while. I have an HXFX, and I’ll often just use the internal drives for simplicity. But when I do plug in the Guv, I always wonder how I live without it.
@@Childofbhaal I think so... but not every pedal works for every player or through every rig. I just know the Guv is an integral part of my sound now. Your milage may vary...
@@edlib02169 What guitars do you like to play on the pedal? I have a G&L ASAT with the single coil MFD pickups. I have no guitar with Humbuckers or high output pickups
Another great thing about this pedal: it responds to / cleans up well with your guitar's pots. I use mine through a mid 60s jtm 45 as well as a 100 watt 87 silver jubilee - they sound phenomenal with mid to high headroom amps (just make sure you have a good attenuator on hand).
I have a Korean made Guv'nor. I love the sound. About 2018, I had a clone built of it. I was planning to start gigging soon with a band and didn't want to risk it being damaged or stolen in the bars.
@@SteveSterlacci Hi Steve, it still works and sounds fine! It doesn't regularly make it on to my board these days, I have a KOT and a few others, but I am mostly a QC player now and use the QC on its own. I would certainly take the Guv'nor with me for consideration if I was undertaking a recording session. Thank you for your channel. Kind regards.
Thank you Steve for quoting Mike Pereira (Analogman) - his conclusions are so insightful and added a lot of great information to the video...btw, ordered a Reissue after watching this! (that Blackstar 212 with those Zephyr speakers sound KILLER)
Nice video. I got to use one ( not my own) way back in the early 90's. I wish Line 6 would model one of these for the Helix etc. It sounds great in this video. You must be pleased with it.
Love the Guv’nor I had a first edition (got stolen) A korean (not roadworthy) New reissue (heck yeah) 🤘 Also works great as a clean boost on low gain hi output
Marshall are about to do a reissue of the bluesbreaker pedal. I'm hoping they do the whole line up. The new bluesbreaker is a 100% copy of the original, so fingers crossed
I had a MIE and a MIK a few years ago - they sounded almost identical. There was a very slight discernable difference but that could just be parts different tolerances that you could get with any 2 identical pedals, I dunno. Anyways I sold em both eventually the MIE first because I knew the cork sniffers would pay more for it. Then maybe a year or so later I sold the MIK as I wasn't using it either anymore...fast forward to a couple of months ago I got another one - a MIK version as I knew they'd be a bit cheaper and previous experience with both told me there's nothing in 'em...but one is much more expensive. Happy with my latest and expecting i'll keep this one and not punt it on, and besides now the new identical MIE reissues are about to be released the old ones value is probably gonna go right down. Good news for those wanting to get themselves one without paying the now ridiculous prices of the vintage ones. Perhaps not so great for those that have them and maybe wanna sell on to get their investment back. Cool vid!
I am hoping the value goes up since people will always want the originals. I am hoping to get those in for a demo soon too. Thanks for checking it out and I hope to have earned your sub
@David Beebee you pulled it off perfectly! I was like oh wow, johns changing up a bit. Then i saw you and was like wow 🤣🤣🤣. The mans insane. I wish i could do it how he does.
Please do a video and combine the Govenor and the Diesel pedals as separate pedals into the same amp to get an Adam Jones tone. I don't want the Diesel or Govenor peddles distorting each other. 🙏 Thanks.
