Seen Ry seven times over the course of 30 years. He's influenced me greatly, his playing, his INTEGRITY, shines during his performances as well as on his recordings. I remember most of these performances in great detail. They are all different and all profound in their own ways. Peace and Love to you Ry, and all peace and music loving brethren and sisters all over this musical earth.
Ry Cooder,a legend and genius of rhythem and blue's..the best entertainment and performance in front of his fans center stage world wide..a great singer and solo artist..great backup singers and great with with his slider on guitar at any given time..always on track of his melody ..never forgotten
Oh yes Harry Dean Stanton just being old as time , Ry, Flaco, Jimmy Keltner on drums and his fab back up singers, all known each other for years , brilliant
Wow--does it get any better than this? tight, tight band and a backup group with a bass singer who just about knocks the fillings out of my teeth! What a treasure we have in Ry Cooder. Thanks for the posting of this live version.
Ry Cooder, musical genius. One of the greatest guitar players ever. The real test of a great guitarist is “how many of the so called greats could do what Cooder does?” Few.
Best intro ever. Plus, his "Crossroads" soundtrack( the Ralph Machio movie, not the Brittany Spears one) is STILL one of the best progressive blues albums ever. Check it out if you are unfamiliar. For reals.
WOW Wonderful tune from a brilliant band led by the incredible Ry Cooder. Must be an early clip as Flaco Jimenez looks so young. From a 71yo Aussie fan.
I got to see him with David Lindley at a NOLA Jazzfest performance - just the two of them, a pile of guitars and a quartet of Male Black Gospel back-up singers - fantastic!
If you like this, check out Bop Til You Drop. The whole album is amazing. And his film scores for Paris Texas [with Harry Dean Stanton, the guy who introduces this video],and Southern Comfort, are sublime. Wim Wenders,an Academy Award nominated director, talked Ry into doing the music for Paris Texas.Ry would later talk Wim into directing the Buena Vista Social Club,Ry's musical collaboration with Cuban musicians. It would be nominated for another Academy Award for best documentary.
Black and white intro is from the original full video for this song. Hard to find a good quality copy of it online, but definitely worth searching for. That original video was produced by Michelle Manning, directed by David Fincher, with cinematography by Jack Wallner, and not sure who edited it.
I swear, everytime I look at this cut, El Toucan, Puerto Vallarta, 1980´s. Full of corn fed farm girls from Nebraska on their way to Nicaragua. No wonder that revolt failed. But what a great bar.
It amazes me that nobody talks about the drummer. The way holds the sticks, Slip pretty splat the skins of that man ,plays What’s his name I’ve seen he before but forgot his name ,remind me. Please. thks.
Yeah, it's a real film rather than just a music video. Much tighter editing also. The shoeshine boy in it is Ry's son, Joachim when he was very young, and both in that and in this the alto sax is a Grafton plastic sax, which is a collector's item and rarely played anymore. Charley Parker played one, which makes it doubly significant.
@tjfoley59 Absolutely spot on. I have been saying for years that Ry Cooder is just about the only person who can improve on th originals. He turns them into a new song.
Fecking sweet - Cooder cooks like a cast-iron casserole; the solo is almost note for note from the album version, but pips it at the end. Got some nice bass-lines there too. Does it get better than this? Me no think so.........
+Gibson Blues You must realize that all of these musicians are deep close friends and have played with each other for decades. Ry and Flaco even recorded a CD together where they switched IDs under their publicity photos...just seeing if people were paying attention.
anybody know which concert this was? can i buy it? this was the one where they did i found a love/that's where it's at and they took it down- i need it for my well being- thanks
+voxoo If you have any information that may help us to find it again, post the links or PM me, I too have been searching for it for two or three years! We can't find it anymore on Dailymotion or even on the fan's channel "Biamaku" here on YT. Thanks for sharing folks and, again, somebody please re-up this gem or even more, the full concert; J.T
His music is food for the soul. What a music treasure!
None better than this group ☮️

I love that you can see Keltner from time to time

None actually
Sensational. Like the sound, rhythem, melody, the beat..got it all going on.. thanku Ry Cooder for a great performance and entertainment..
I like a LOT of Ry’s Music but keep cycling back to this song, my favorite! It is perfect for life.
Best intro ever. Plus, his "Crossroads" soundtrack( the Ralph Machio movie, not the Brittany Spears one) is STILL one of the best progressive blues albums ever. Check it out if you are unfamiliar. For reals.

John Benn 1987
+John Benn Hey don´t take all the credit, I´m 65 !!
Nothing better than to watch Ry Cooder....quality no matter what!
I got to see him with David Lindley at a NOLA Jazzfest performance - just the two of them, a pile of guitars and a quartet of Male Black Gospel back-up singers - fantastic!
One of my faves Ry Cooder Shows was with Duane Eddy at the Catalyst, Santa Cruz ,CA..
Garth Seagrave Great show! IWT!
Saw them tour the album in Glasgow - 4 rows from the front - BRILLIANT

Amazing Ry Cooder. Long live Ry Cooder!

at the 25 seconds to 30 seconds mark I knew I loved this guy.
Absolutely wonderful. Absolutely cool. Absolutely Ry Cooder! Love the intro. I'm still smiling. Thanks so much! My best, Moppet

Jim Keltner
The whole band is world class. Jim Keltner and Ry Cooder go way back. Great talents tend to get together.
And what a rythm !
this is one of those times that you tube should have a "love" button over the like button :)
thank you so much for posting
Love Ry Cooder
Harry Dean Stanton? I guess Ry Cooder has Friends everywhere.

Harry Dean Stanton!
The guy was a diamond in the rough and quite the singer I hear.
U GOT IT !!!
Across the border line
It’s too awesome 😎
Love the video, love Ry, love backup singers...but I think I might love Flaco the most
Ry Cooder is a genius and then to make it completely unfair he puts together an all world band
If I was Johnny I'd have a smile as wide as a sumo wrestlers waist line!
love this version. great video
This MUST be what them ol' guys and girls meant when they talked about "FeelGoodMusic"...
The Man!!! get rhythm
@tjfoley59 Absolutely spot on. I have been saying for years that Ry Cooder is just about the only person who can improve on th originals. He turns them into a new song.
Harry Dean Stanton introduces Ry Cooder and band, with "Get Rhythm"
Fecking sweet - Cooder cooks like a cast-iron casserole; the solo is almost note for note from the album version, but pips it at the end. Got some nice bass-lines there too. Does it get better than this? Me no think so.........
A thumbs-up on the video.
Steve Douglas!!!
Scene him twice; waiting on no. 3.
Give the version by NRBQ a listen... Johnny never played it that way!
jhony cash is wear i heard this song first in the 60s i belive
+Alan Hogan Mr. Cash wrote it. Isn't Johnny amazing! And Mr Cooder does appreciate a good song.
Cash wrote it about '56 or '57.
Wow!
Mark Web
ster
Moondance allegandi to you too..and thank you
love this version. great video. Is it flacom Jimenez back there?
Absolutely Flaco!
And you'd most likely forgotten ever having asked
It's just plain good. & if people can't figure out that.... well just move on. -_Q
Only Ry could do a Johnny Cash song better than John
サイコーだわ(笑)
Oh my! This is so good.
And yes, that's Flaco isn't it?
The "live in the audience" version has better sound.
Is that Flacco Jimenez on accordian?
Yes.
Flaco Jiminez is the background?
+Gibson Blues Yep !
+Gibson Blues You must realize that all of these musicians are deep close friends and have played with each other for decades. Ry and Flaco even recorded a CD together where they switched IDs under their publicity photos...just seeing if people were paying attention.
Doowah Diatribe Of course. I saw the award show where Flaco awarded and first introduced by Ry. Very cool group of fellas.
Are those background singers singing in the crossroads duel scene? I'm sure I recognize one of them
Ya, nice vid but man that sound quality is rough. Do you have the original source ?
Jim Keltner on drums.
Oh ya!!! One of my fave drummers.
🎶❤️🎶
Jim Keltner on drums. Wish the sound was better but great nonetheless.
@odwogensen Yep.
Ornette Coleman played one too.
anybody know which concert this was? can i buy it? this was the one where they did i found a love/that's where it's at and they took it down- i need it for my well being- thanks

...you must replace the soundtrack with better quality...and volume.?.
@beanabeaner You are perhaps, CONFUSED?
It's the one from Vidéo Dailymotion...
drummer =Keltner
Johnny Cash song.
5/5
...quality in...quality out....
WHO IS PLAYING? WHO IS RY COODER PLAYING THE SAX?
Guitar and voice
Steve Douglas on sax.
HD version ?'
This is the lowest quality I've seen !
Please don't mislead !
The original video is better. It was directed by David Fincher.
Google "Ry Cooder Get Rhythm."
Great song, great artist, but those background singer dudes look like goombahs dancin' about like that
What the heck????????????????????????????
so it starts with one version and then swaps after 30 sec to another ? lame shit.
Well it's a bad VHS or whatever but this is just lip-synced
terrible video. not right.
