I went to Ry Cooder and Moula Banda Rhythm Aces in Glasgow on strength of this video and it was best concert I’ve ever been too, pure class and Steve Douglas on sax, he’s played with Duane Eddy and Phil Spector wall of sound, proper hero of mine!,
The hands-down greatest music video and rendition of Cash's "Get Rhythm" in history. There will never be anything like it. What Cooder brings to the table is REAL Americana. Praise God I am alive to experience Americana in all its glory. It can still save the world from the Federal Reserve, no?
That's the Plan-once the neo-cons are neo-unconscious and the Barbarians sack Goldman Sachs, and Blackrock becomes limpcock, and I dispose of Henry K-George S and Klaus Slob the Revolution may begin in deadly earnest...💣...until then Ry Cooder & Moola Banda Rythm Aces will keep me sane and in the groove ! 👌... 😎
Ry Cooder. Bobby King. Flaco Jimenez (I saw them together in Seattle in 1968). Harry Dean Stanton. Johnny Cash. Love this. American music at it's best.
When I had this.. 10" vinyl, 12", album and a simple amp with a boost and a bass that would lift the roof of the house, nice speakers, too.. I forget where I was going with this; oh, happy, happy days.... 😉💕
Ry Cooder is the man,the music legend ,the guitar player and singer with the rhyrhem and melody soaring out to all his fans..a great performer and entertainer..not forgotten
I know Ry Cooder has more famous songs... but for me, Get Rhythm and All Shook Up are my favs... the greatest guitar sound... freaking haunting. I feel like he's conjuring up some Voodoo Sprits. Sonny Landreth and Derek Trucks are amazing... but Ry has got some Scary Mojo.
The above comment meant for a performance with he did with Ali Farke Toure- hth did that happen? Regardless, the respect for him by others in the biz was good enough for this video budget to feature H. Dean Stanton- another musician's heart.
Ry Cooder is incredible, fan for 40 years. And he invariably collaborates with other great musicians. I have to say though that my favorite cover of this Johnny Cash song is by NRBQ.
I remember when this video first came out, I went out and bought the album the very next day, and became a lifelong Ry Cooder fan. To this day I still think it's one of the best videos ever made to showcase how a band can light up a room and turn up the heat, the black guys singing are just fricken awesome too. The Moola Banda Rythm Aces.. Harry Dean Stanton... if that song can't make you twitch, music ain't your thing.
One of my all time favorite music videos. This is so great on so many levels, Ry you da man! He is a musical genius, every strange alley he turns down has gold at the end of it. Check out his new album it is tremendous.
I love this whole thing so much! I get good chills. The vibe of music brings local gentry and just what the bored parrot and Harry Dean Stanton need. Harry knows.
I have to add, seeing the whole band onstage when they are really cooking like on this tune, the syncopated moves of the singers with Ry boppin', Keltner swingin'... everyone rocking out, it's a joy to behold at their shows around this time. The fast editing leaves that out and misses some of the really cool stuff you'd see as an audience member. Extra thanks to genius Van Dyke Parks on keyboard.
I can't stop laughing about the first bit of this wonderful video. Harry Dean Stanton; "club El Mundo Elegante. It gives me great personal pride and pleasure to introduce uh...the Mula Banda Rythm Aces!" Good lord. Then that kick ass music. A great video of a great song.
master musicians and a super set of back up singers, utterly brilliant live too. Ry on a slide is a wonderful thing, his Film Soundtracks are haunting as well. and thanks Harry Dean Stanton
What a GREAT video! VERY funny, hip and that band is just blown' the roof OFF the joint! Jim Keltner is cracklin'! Every one is just amazing. I want the song to go for another hour! The film is very well done; great cinematography, editing, lighting, etc. Thanks for posting this.
I remember when this video first came out sometime in the 80's and it became an immediate favourite of mine and my friends, so I recorded it and we commenced to play the shit out of it (it= a VHS tape). The video also introduced my friends to Harry Dean Stanton; I, being far more cultured, had seen him in a few movies before. The last movie I saw him in, which had to be his last, was Lucky and it was a good movie but slightly odd at times e.g. Howard (played by the oh so bizarre David Lynch) had a pet tortoise named President Roosevelt who had run away, yes a tortoise ran away.
A.G. you too? loved Harry thru the years "Christine" "KELLYS hEROES" DAMN BOUT everything he's been in I've seen, never win an Oscar but sure deserves one
I've listened to their beautiful music since the 70s,,,my brother and l have performed a few of their songs at churches and gatherings and always had positive feedback and blessings,,,thank you for your music and testimony,,,
Ry's playing at his finest - but it's really Harry Dean Stanton who steals the show here. How he can get so much emotion and expression into such a small part... just proves what a fine actor he was.
His son (a great drummer with a band of his own) posted this on Facebook today. I hope we're not in for bad news. 😐 "It is with great disappointment that I have to re-schedule the California & Canadian run planned for February & March. My family and I are dealing with a matter that requires all hands on deck here at home. No doubt we will be back in your area, and then some, with new music and stories. Until then, thank you for all the support. -Joachim"

Ry's Get Rythm has been a great favorite of mine for many years...this is the first time I saw the video! So great.
This guitar solo has been giving me goosebumps for well over 30 Years. I love ry cooder

Amen, brother!
I love this song😊
OMG!! Ry is a world treasure! This ought to be in the dictionary under “Great Music.”
Miss you so much, Harry Dean
Same here.
It doesn’t get any better than this.
Ry Cooder. Bobby King. Flaco Jimenez (I saw them together in Seattle in 1968). Harry Dean Stanton. Johnny Cash. Love this. American music at it's best.
A song to instantly improve your mindset. Great!
I can't stop watching this. Ry smoking, Harry Dean Stanton ultimate cool. It sure does not get any better than this anywhere, anyway.
I’m with you all the way brother
Ry Cooder, the god of the slide guitar... I love him
When I had this.. 10" vinyl, 12", album and a simple amp with a boost and a bass that would lift the roof of the house, nice speakers, too.. I forget where I was going with this; oh, happy, happy days.... 😉💕
Gotta love it. Jim Keltner on the drums, Flaco Jimenez on accordion, and Ry slidin' his ass off. Sweet!!!
AND HARRY DEAN STATON? as THE m/c
STANTON
I think that is Steve Douglas on sax and Van Dyke Parks on piano
One of the coolest music videos ever made. Rip Harry Dean Stanton.
I wish this video was an hour long. What a story and performance in under 4 minutes! Ry was, is and always will be a Music Master.
Just loop it, and listen all night....
Ry Cooder is the man,the music legend ,the guitar player and singer with the rhyrhem and melody soaring out to all his fans..a great performer and entertainer..not forgotten
And our history teacher.
What ! Only 2K thumbs up for the best music video ever created in the history of the
universe ??? Should be 2B by now !
RIP Harry Dean Stanton, matre de of the most elegant club in the world :)
The collaboration lp between these two won a grammy, if not mistaken- well deserved.
The above comment meant for a performance with he did with Ali Farke Toure- hth did that happen? Regardless, the respect for him by others in the biz was good enough for this video budget to feature H. Dean Stanton- another musician's heart.
Oh Harry Dean S. Once reputed to be "the coolest man on the planet"...
RIP

That has to the best start ever. Loved him with Beefheart & ever since.

@namcat53 call me out if I am wrong, but I believe the kid shining the shoes is actually Joachim Cooder, Ry's son....I may be wrong
11 GIANT-STEPS BEYOND FANTASTIC !!
Pure gold. Thanks.
One of my favs of Ry Cooder and gang . Another super great song by Ry is 'All Shook up"
I can't stop laughing about the first bit of this wonderful video. Harry Dean Stanton; "club El Mundo Elegante. It gives me great personal pride and pleasure to introduce uh...the Mula Banda Rythm Aces!" Good lord. Then that kick ass music. A great video of a great song.

What a fantastic Band it is.once more....and again! Music.
This is so freaking great!
No one plays guitar like Ry Cooder plays guitar. He plays everyone,
Harry Dean Stanton, one of my allt. fav. supporting actors..top!
RIP the incomparable and underappreciated Harry Dean Stanton.
He was VERY appreciated !
Wonder if Ry and Harry knew each other before “Paris, Texas”. One of my favorite movies. Because of them. And Nastassja Kinski, of course!
luv this version, Ry's guitaring is just brilliant.
How did I miss this, thankfully not forever
RIP Harry Dean Stanton.!
He made this his own. Class.
Everything about this is good, very good.

Too good for words ! ✋👉✌👍
Happy 70th Birthday Ry.
Unreal, lol. love it!
Pair this with Ry's "Blue Suede Shoes" and you're pretty much set for life!
I'm sure Johnny Cash would approve.
Johnny would jump right in. That's the best Bandoneon player who's ever set in on that tune.
Awesome 😎 Love the Music of Ry Cooder ❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️🎸❤️
Outstanding!!
Nice to see old Harry Dean Stanton, too!

I’ll watch literally anything with Harry Dean Stanton in it! This one is a no brainer.
WOW , Harry Dean Stanton, Ry Cooder this is really good
I always loved this video, and The Firms Satisfaction Guaranteed. Just love the seedy bar atmosphere. And the music is top shelf.
I love it that Ry Cooder's son Joachim, is the boy shoe shining, and now is his fathers drummer
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just brilliant!
Ry is utterly unique !
Gawd Bless Im .
I heard the original with Johnny Cash once. That's why I always play this with Ry Cooder!
Magic word - "Original"

This was one of my first cd of Ry. The other cd was Paris Texas.
I was in Sevilla. Expo 92.
How many years. ..
Ry's playing at his finest - but it's really Harry Dean Stanton who steals the show here. How he can get so much emotion and expression into such a small part... just proves what a fine actor he was.

Ry knows how to turn a song into a symphony
Love this version. Ry let's er fly.
All the people on the stage are world class including Harry Dean Stanton
Ry Cooder is a genius and just to make it completely unfair he gets an all world band together
Love this vid. Ry and the boys at their best !
I have THREE versions of this! The original by Johnny Cash, this version by Ry Cooder and a version by Little Richard. This is the best of the lot!
There is also the backing vocal by Larry Blackmon of Cameo, who i could almost swear i saw in a glimpse on the video...
LOVE IT.
I still love this video...how can you beat the cast?
R.I.P. Harry Dean Stanton
