@@imtonysopro While I surely will one day, I assure you your concern is a moot one. I know every square inch of it (including being able to read a little wing dings), thus rendering playing a largely story-focused game somewhat redundant.
Important, also, to note that Undyne is also put over and subsequently becomes a jobber during the story. After mopping the floor with Toriel and Papyrus and all the other little encounters along the way that typically end unceremoniously with one hit, suddenly one of the bugs you squashed gets back up, dramatic piano music starts, and you're throttled by a killer fish woman. She's your Brock Lesnar before you get to fully become Brock Lesnar yourself.
Plus she is much harder than any other boss on any other route so far, so you think if you could eventually overcome her than you can overcome anyone after getting to be so powerful.
She also has several attacks that toy with you similar to Sans. Her opening attack starts exactly the same as in the regular fight before following it up with a much nastier volley. She also has one turn where she just sends out a huge number of extremely slow bullets that just happen to all arrive at the same time.
It also helps that on the other routes, you don't really defeat her. You just manage to fend her off for long enough, until she collapses of heat stroke and you can get away.
@@supersillystuffs Oh right, I forgot about that. She's super tanky though and the game hints that you might want to run, so most players probably won't bother, I'd imagine.
Something else to consider is that within Undertale canon, a monster's strength is proportionate to how much they want to fight, meaning they're at their weakest when they don't want to. So when Undyne throws herself in front of Monster Kid and STILL gets one shotted...yeah, that kinda speaks for itself.
As much as I want to go back and try again someday, I'm pretty satisfied with the fact that I went all the way to that point and gave up. Makes for a good story in my head.

5:45 i literally guessed between 12,000 and 14,000 strictly because of the absurdly low 900 number, like the study said. I'll be completely honest the original guess before that number flashed on screen was 18,000 500k number wouldnt have had as much impact though, we can see the wreck so anyone who knows how water pressure and deep sea exploration works knows its absolutely no more than 4-5 miles underwater
YES THIS MASTERPIECE IS BACK! This was my first DTG Video! Thanks for always making such amazing videos (and also introducing me to Omori I love it so much)!
to go along with the thought of sans himself being rehashed countless times throughout the internet, i'm convinced that MEGALOVANIA is single-handedly THE most remixed/covered/arranged song in existence. *everyone* made a remix of it back when UNDERTALE was in its first year of life, and they're still being made today. heck, someone even made an original vocaloid cover of it recently. sans' fight and his fight music are some of the most memorable things in video game history. even *nintendo* had to put him and a new MEGALOVANIA remix (great remix btw) into super smash bros.; their platform fighting game that was made to pay respect to video games. great video essay, always love hearing people talk about sans' fight like this. it's certainly one of _my_ favourite moment in video games, and you hit the nail on the head
Yessss, ive been waiting for my most unlikely interest: somwone else talking about a sport I dont watch with enough passion for the both of us to enjoy it
The Titanic reference is a little fresher in everyone's mind after the submarine piloted by a video game controller imploded down there, but I still appreciate the psych! Very much not a wrestling fan but the video helped me understand it better, so thanks!
I actually haven't seen more than absolute basics about underworld, it's so far away from the style game I'm trying to design i haven't done any deep dives into it, yet. At this point I've watched pretty much all of your videos, and i truly love them. Thank you so much for going into the psychology of games, I've learned so much. Hopefully i can implement even a tiny bit of what you've shown.
Omg thanks for remaking this I thought I was crazy when I couldn't find it lol, I learned alot from it and am excited to be able to share it with folks again !
I can't believe I'd never seen the original, and am just now seeing this. A friend sent it to me, just sat down to eat and said why not? As you recapped Brock's history and Cody's ascent, I teared up. I love wrestling, though have been out of the loop for a little bit, and loved it as a kid. Then I cried when you started talking about the insane feelings Toby made us all feel about Sans. You nailed it. This is one of the greatest video essays I've ever watched, enjoyed every second of it. Thank you
I really liked how the remake turned out, great job! :D It certainly feels like you improved a lot since then, but I lack the direct comparison and I'm too lazy to check, lol.
I think the original was the first video of yours I watched, the first one that got me hooked on your style and channel as a whole. I've loved every video you've put out, some of them hit really hard. Cant wait to see what the future holds. I will have a damn good one.
”The man who consistently looks like he just absorbed a grizzly bear"... that alone is one of the greatest lines I've ever heard and one of the greatest reasons you could have remade this vid. The og was a banger but that... holy shit
Missed opportunity to do the titanic exercise with how old the og video was, because i definitely would NOT have guessed five years old... theres no way its been that long, right??? I got SO confused when I saw the thumbnail because I was like "didn't that video already come out like two years ago? Did he forget he already made this video???" glad to know I'm not losing my mind. Sad the original got taken down, but glad to see you getting a chance to put all of your experience back into what is definitely one of my favorite videos! And the Psych of Play card coming back was just so nostalgic.
thanks so much for putting this back on youtube!!!!! one of my favorite videos on the Sans boss fight, it always reminds me that for how much it's meme-d on it is genuinely good game design. and props for redoing it instead of just finding a way to reupload it, shows your dedication and skill.
BRO I thought I was crazy! I tried a few weeks ago to find this video again and I COULDN'T, I genuinely thought I may have hallucinated parts of it and confused it with your OTHER pro wrestling videos and EmpLemon's... Thank God it's back.
I'm very glad that you remade this. I watched the original a few times and I have no doubt that I'll watch this version several times as well. And if you need to remake it again, I'll keep re-watching it. A hundred more times if needed! (Though let's hope that UA-cam isn't that cruel.) Also, starting low doesn't work for me since my brain immediately goes for hyperbole in almost all situations. Ha ha.
I just want you to know I watched this video then afterwards immediately logged on to splatoon 3 where my name has been sans for a majority of the games life and got a new randomized title which just happened to be “novice pro wrestler” and I thought that was kinda funny Also, good video! I was so confused when I saw it in my recommended because I had sworn I had seen it before but it’s respectable that you took something as annoying as copyright claims and used it as an opportunity to improve your work. I admittedly was not too fond of how chara was portrayed in this video (I feel like it makes more sense to say that chara goes “over” after the sans fight because you, the player, had been established as extremely strong the entire route and now you have met an impassable obstacle that cannot be defeated without chara’s help. By establishing this, them brushing past asgore and flowey as well as the final confrontation with them holds a lot more weight. They outrank you now. You have warped this person into an unrecognizable monster that overpowers even you and your game will forever be corrupted by them no matter the path you take afterward), but I can respect your reason for using chara as the center of the video even if I don’t agree myself
This is one of the videos that got me through Covid times, seeing psych of play again brought a fuzzy warm feeling to my heart, thanks for your work man
So happy you used the There Came an Echo OST! I was recommended that in one of the last videos TotalBiscuit ever did, and it's been a mainstay of my playlist since.
I never knew anchoring bias existed before this video. My thought process went that your Titanic depth was a guess much like mine was, so it had no influence when I said out loud "probably 20,000 feet or so?" I'm curious now what the psychology is behind that and why certain people may not be susceptible to it.
Great video but one thing I really wished was specified was that WWE wrestling and the sport of wrestling are completely different and should not get confused. As someone who used to wrestle in school and knows how hard that is as a sport it frustrates me to not only see people think WWE is wrestling but especially if they think it's real.
THE REMAKE!!! I remember watching this wayyyy back and when I went back to find it later I couldn't find it I thought I got super Mandela Effected or something glad to see it back, one of my favorite vids you'd made :)
absolutely loved the original video, and i'm so glad it's back! i still remember my initial guess after 800 being 14k, and I was really surprised to have been so close.
Huh. I wonder why I was getting a sense of de ja vu just from seeing the thumbnail on my recommended feed. Definitely saw the original and had no idea it even got taken down in the first place. But was it really all the way back in 2019? Man, does time just fly by......
i had no idea the original was taken down, this was one of my favorite vids in the old psych of play run! can't wait to see the definitive edition remaster DX directors cut
this shit with sans just made me turn on the lights in my brain: something similar is done for both minos prime and sisyphus prime, you have to perfect each level, meaning you develop the skills fully. then, after putting up with an intense boss fight with the flesh prison, minos prime instantly comes and most likely one-shots you. sisyphus plays off of this by the level itself being very difficult, then tearing through his own flesh panopticon before the health bar is fully depleted, putting him over
Anchoring bias can also work in your favour: I didn't know at all how deep the Titanic was, but I did know the average depth of the oceans is about 4,000 meters, so I used that as an educated guess-in a way I used a better anchor.
I love the subtle buildup of Kenny Omega's Battle Cry music by Little V Mills @ 13:56. Which is extremely awesome considering the wrestler's IMMENSE love for Undertale. Cosplaying as Sans on an episode of AEW Dynamite, having a (sadly unofficially released) custom entrance done by Toby Fox & coming out to MEGALAVANIA in the effin Tokyo Dome in the main event of Wrestle Kingdom?!?!?!?

5:45 i literally guessed between 12,000 and 14,000 strictly because of the absurdly low 900 number, like the study said. I'll be completely honest the original guess before that number flashed on screen was 18,000
500k number wouldnt have had as much impact though, we can see the wreck so anyone who knows how water pressure and deep sea exploration works knows its absolutely no more than 4-5 miles underwater
Seeing that old logo brings joy to my heart. Love you darryl
I loved this video and I think it helped me a lot with my writing. It makes a lot of concepts clear that were vague in my head before this.
So that's why it was gone
I thought I was going bananas thinking how the video nevwr existed, glad to see it back
Yessss, ive been waiting for my most unlikely interest: somwone else talking about a sport I dont watch with enough passion for the both of us to enjoy it
This is such a great remake. Amazing video my dude
When you asked about the Titanic, EVEN BEFORE you said somewhere under 800 feet i thought "somewhere in the thousands"
It's so crazy How emotional i got from the short clip of etika beating sans... Damn
The Titanic reference is a little fresher in everyone's mind after the submarine piloted by a video game controller imploded down there, but I still appreciate the psych! Very much not a wrestling fan but the video helped me understand it better, so thanks!
The "for old times sake" was a wonderful touch.
God i love it so much that you've used House M.D. glimpse during your mention of "television" at about 2 minute mark.
So happy to see this video back.
It was one of my favourites and this video really is great return like Edge at the Royal Rumble.
Thank you
Watched it again, didn’t notice you started Kenny’s theme when you really started talking about Sans. The LAYERS. Absolutely fantastic all around!!
I really liked how the remake turned out, great job! :D
It certainly feels like you improved a lot since then, but I lack the direct comparison and I'm too lazy to check, lol.
The og was a banger but that... holy shit
wait this actually IS my first sans video ...
"chara kills everyone" um no
thanks so much for putting this back on youtube!!!!! one of my favorite videos on the Sans boss fight, it always reminds me that for how much it's meme-d on it is genuinely good game design. and props for redoing it instead of just finding a way to reupload it, shows your dedication and skill.
(Though let's hope that UA-cam isn't that cruel.)
Also, starting low doesn't work for me since my brain immediately goes for hyperbole in almost all situations. Ha ha.
This is honestly the first video I've seen of someone talking about Wrestling and Undertale. Thank You ❤️
I like wrestling but I don't know much about Sans Undertale. I wish there was some way that I could learn about him.
Holy shit!
I just want you to know I watched this video then afterwards immediately logged on to splatoon 3 where my name has been sans for a majority of the games life and got a new randomized title which just happened to be “novice pro wrestler” and I thought that was kinda funny
Also, good video! You have warped this person into an unrecognizable monster that overpowers even you and your game will forever be corrupted by them no matter the path you take afterward), but I can respect your reason for using chara as the center of the video even if I don’t agree myself
i feel like this video was made for ME specifically i am so jealous, this is such a good premise for a video
I HAVE BEEN HUNTING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR YEARS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR, FOR RE-UPLOADING IT AND PROVING THAT I WASN'T CRAZY!!!
I’ve been looking for this video forever and in the end just thought it was a fever dream. So so happy you reuploaded it !
This is one of the videos that got me through Covid times, seeing psych of play again brought a fuzzy warm feeling to my heart, thanks for your work man
This was a good one!! I really like how the narrative of these videos always weaves around itself. They're such a joy to watch
So happy you used the There Came an Echo OST! I was recommended that in one of the last videos TotalBiscuit ever did, and it's been a mainstay of my playlist since.
I KNEW THIS VIDEO EXISTED!!! I genuinely thought i was tripping when this dissipeared 😭
I remember watching the original when it came out
I had to watch the remade version this time. Great video Daryl!
I never thought these two communities would have any overlap aside from me
I never knew anchoring bias existed before this video. My thought process went that your Titanic depth was a guess much like mine was, so it had no influence when I said out loud "probably 20,000 feet or so?" I'm curious now what the psychology is behind that and why certain people may not be susceptible to it.
DUUUDE this is literally something i never knew i needed! love when you analize pro wrestling with games man
Great video but one thing I really wished was specified was that WWE wrestling and the sport of wrestling are completely different and should not get confused. As someone who used to wrestle in school and knows how hard that is as a sport it frustrates me to not only see people think WWE is wrestling but especially if they think it's real.
It returns! Hopefully this one doesn't get taken down, it's too cool to deserve that fate.
I remember watching the original video during either 2020 or 2021, thanks for an excuse to go down memory lane
This was my first video I saw by you. We've had exactly one conversation but I want you to know I've been rooting for you ever since man
THE REMAKE!!!
I remember watching this wayyyy back and when I went back to find it later I couldn't find it I thought I got super Mandela Effected or something glad to see it back, one of my favorite vids you'd made :)
the bit about the titanic just doesn't quite land the same since oceangate made everyone think about deep it actually is
Hearing "This is Psych of Play" made me so nostalgic
Oh wow I’d been looking for this one again over the years and could never find it or why it had disappeared. Glad to see it’s back!
honestly this is the first video of watched of daryl in a while
glad to be back. i really missed this
absolutely loved the original video, and i'm so glad it's back! i still remember my initial guess after 800 being 14k, and I was really surprised to have been so close.
Wonderful!
I feel like I recall watching this in the beginning of your channel.
Huh. I wonder why I was getting a sense of de ja vu just from seeing the thumbnail on my recommended feed. Definitely saw the original and had no idea it even got taken down in the first place. But was it really all the way back in 2019? Man, does time just fly by......
after all the oceangate drama i was damn sure it's about 4km deep
I faintly remember watching og vid all the way back then. Funny how it brought be back for v2 ig
i had no idea the original was taken down, this was one of my favorite vids in the old psych of play run! can't wait to see the definitive edition remaster DX directors cut
I originally ignored this since I thought it was just a reupload... Man, I should've had more faith in you. Thanks Daryl!
Note to self when I come back to this.

Come back,

this shit with sans just made me turn on the lights in my brain: something similar is done for both minos prime and sisyphus prime, you have to perfect each level, meaning you develop the skills fully. then, after putting up with an intense boss fight with the flesh prison, minos prime instantly comes and most likely one-shots you. sisyphus plays off of this by the level itself being very difficult, then tearing through his own flesh panopticon before the health bar is fully depleted, putting him over
Anchoring bias can also work in your favour: I didn't know at all how deep the Titanic was, but I did know the average depth of the oceans is about 4,000 meters, so I used that as an educated guess-in a way I used a better anchor.
0:02 i leared what a remaster is=this a remaster=a different viewpoint from the same picture.
I got the depth right because of the oceangate submarine a year ago. Didn’t think id use this information again
I just realized, one of my favorite anime of all time kinda does this. Black Gold Saw, to Insane Black Rock Shooter, to Strength. That's cool 👍
I had no idea the original got taken down! Im glad that I can once again plague my wrestling fan friends with this video
Thanks for all your hard work, homie! I thought the title seemed familiar, but wasn't sure. I'll gladly watch it again
I feel like after the Titan Submarine tragedy, the depth of the Titanic wreckage is more well known.
