thanks so much for putting this back on youtube!!!!! one of my favorite videos on the Sans boss fight, it always reminds me that for how much it's meme-d on it is genuinely good game design. and props for redoing it instead of just finding a way to reupload it, shows your dedication and skill.
I guessed 50,000 km because I was aware of the anchoring effect going in and knew that was what you were going to pull (I'm referring to my first viewing of the first video, it'd be cheating to count this viewing)

I'm very glad that you remade this. I watched the original a few times and I have no doubt that I'll watch this version several times as well. And if you need to remake it again, I'll keep re-watching it. A hundred more times if needed! (Though let's hope that UA-cam isn't that cruel.) Also, starting low doesn't work for me since my brain immediately goes for hyperbole in almost all situations. Ha ha.
BRO I thought I was crazy! I tried a few weeks ago to find this video again and I COULDN'T, I genuinely thought I may have hallucinated parts of it and confused it with your OTHER pro wrestling videos and EmpLemon's... Thank God it's back.
I actually haven't seen more than absolute basics about underworld, it's so far away from the style game I'm trying to design i haven't done any deep dives into it, yet. At this point I've watched pretty much all of your videos, and i truly love them. Thank you so much for going into the psychology of games, I've learned so much. Hopefully i can implement even a tiny bit of what you've shown.
I can't believe I'd never seen the original, and am just now seeing this. A friend sent it to me, just sat down to eat and said why not? As you recapped Brock's history and Cody's ascent, I teared up. I love wrestling, though have been out of the loop for a little bit, and loved it as a kid. Then I cried when you started talking about the insane feelings Toby made us all feel about Sans. You nailed it. This is one of the greatest video essays I've ever watched, enjoyed every second of it. Thank you
So happy you used the There Came an Echo OST! I was recommended that in one of the last videos TotalBiscuit ever did, and it's been a mainstay of my playlist since.
I just want you to know I watched this video then afterwards immediately logged on to splatoon 3 where my name has been sans for a majority of the games life and got a new randomized title which just happened to be “novice pro wrestler” and I thought that was kinda funny Also, good video! I was so confused when I saw it in my recommended because I had sworn I had seen it before but it’s respectable that you took something as annoying as copyright claims and used it as an opportunity to improve your work. I admittedly was not too fond of how chara was portrayed in this video (I feel like it makes more sense to say that chara goes “over” after the sans fight because you, the player, had been established as extremely strong the entire route and now you have met an impassable obstacle that cannot be defeated without chara’s help. By establishing this, them brushing past asgore and flowey as well as the final confrontation with them holds a lot more weight. They outrank you now. You have warped this person into an unrecognizable monster that overpowers even you and your game will forever be corrupted by them no matter the path you take afterward), but I can respect your reason for using chara as the center of the video even if I don’t agree myself
Everything in this video was great, except putting Chara as the villain instead of the player or even Frisk, that was straight up wrong in so many levels. (Fleur Marigold has 2 videos that explain this really well)
The lines between the three are pretty blurred, to be fair. And intentionally so. Frisk is the "character" we are "controlling", and in some instances their actions are synonymous with the player's actions, but in others they aren't. Chara is very much a character with their own history and personality, but they too are sometimes synonymous with the player, or at least with elements of the player's psyche. Ultimately Undertale is designed to work at both a narrative and meta level simultaneously.
aren't those the videos that are intentionally emotionally manipulative? Chara and the player are partners in crime in the genocide route, you share the role as main villain with them
absolutely loved the original video, and i'm so glad it's back! i still remember my initial guess after 800 being 14k, and I was really surprised to have been so close.
I absolutely love this!! Seriously annoyed I never gave the og vid a watch before, but never been more glad I watched this video now (the anchoring bias is SO real to hype my expectations knowing how much passion you put into wrestling and how loved Sans is)
THE REMAKE!!! I remember watching this wayyyy back and when I went back to find it later I couldn't find it I thought I got super Mandela Effected or something glad to see it back, one of my favorite vids you'd made :)
Missed opportunity to do the titanic exercise with how old the og video was, because i definitely would NOT have guessed five years old... theres no way its been that long, right??? I got SO confused when I saw the thumbnail because I was like "didn't that video already come out like two years ago? Did he forget he already made this video???" glad to know I'm not losing my mind. Sad the original got taken down, but glad to see you getting a chance to put all of your experience back into what is definitely one of my favorite videos! And the Psych of Play card coming back was just so nostalgic.
Great video but one thing I really wished was specified was that WWE wrestling and the sport of wrestling are completely different and should not get confused. As someone who used to wrestle in school and knows how hard that is as a sport it frustrates me to not only see people think WWE is wrestling but especially if they think it's real.
i had no idea the original was taken down, this was one of my favorite vids in the old psych of play run! can't wait to see the definitive edition remaster DX directors cut
The return of the legendary video! Great to be back! another point is the outside of combat parts of the genocide run. Yeah, nearly every NPC disappears, but sans is a bit special. In a "normal" run (pacifist or neutral), you get the sense there is something MORE to sans. In a world where everyone treats you as a friend or wants to spar, the world itself starts to feel a bit friendly. Even the bosses dont bat an eye at you coming for a rematch, and determination is a known force to them, even if only a few can quantify it. Even Asgore, the first foe to take you seriously shows a friendly "i dont want to do this" side before the fight. But then comes sans, the jokiest of the bunch who's entire MO is humor... until you get a random serious threat from him. Those threats feel real, even if he never acts on them if any of your humanity remains. Finally, he judges you, completely dropping the threats for a congratulations instead if your hands are spotless, or an understanding but generally hopeful "was surviving worth it?" to let the weight of your "self defense" eat at your conscience. You know he is done with you, and can look back at him fondly, regardless of how you handle the final fights ahead. Then comes genocide, where the script gets flipped. Your first meeting is now met with a sense of dread as he calls you out for actions he should have almost no knowledge over while his jokes reveal themselves to be the charade his threats on other routes suggested was the case. Sans makes jokes regardless of route, but only if you are a good person are those jokes meant to gain laughs. Then, as you progress through the snowdin region, papyrus doesnt change and sans seems... unaffected. Finally, it comes time for his last warning. No jokes, no joy, just a warning that you cant come back from the path you walk unless you stop right now. The player then starts to feel his absence even more than the villagers who had to flee before you could reach them. Judgement hall: sans stands in your way, and a fight starts. Even before his attacks start, the player has a sudden realization: Sans never had a battle in the other routes, and he clearly doesnt condone what ive done. "Oh s***, this is going to be a re--" *DEAD* Yes, that death is the moment sans is put "over" you, but there was just enough time to realize what the fight means before it happens. Other than all the taunting, all the setup also has a unique payoff. Sans is the final boss, but he is not the strongest enemy by traditional means. He is YOUR ultimate counter, but he would lose against literally anyone else or at literally any other time (until you get into the implications of some of the more convoluted theories on time in mutiversal and time travel contexts) because he wouldnt take the fight seriously. If he fought you in the judgement hall in any other route? He would slap you with a wet noodle, shake your hand and let you be on your way with a punchline about his brother's spaghetti obsession. XD
10:50 Yes, this is a three-month-old video, and yes, this seems like such a little thing, but it's not. Frisk is the name of the character you play as, Chara's the name of the first human to fall into the underground that appears at the end of the genocide route due to turning demonic because of Frisk's, or rather your, choices.

It certainly feels like you improved a lot since then, but I lack the direct comparison and I'm too lazy to check, lol.
I loved this video and I think it helped me a lot with my writing. It makes a lot of concepts clear that were vague in my head before this.
Seeing that old logo brings joy to my heart. Love you darryl
Yessss, ive been waiting for my most unlikely interest: somwone else talking about a sport I dont watch with enough passion for the both of us to enjoy it
The Titanic reference is a little fresher in everyone's mind after the submarine piloted by a video game controller imploded down there, but I still appreciate the psych! Very much not a wrestling fan but the video helped me understand it better, so thanks!
So that's why it was gone
I thought I was going bananas thinking how the video nevwr existed, glad to see it back
This is such a great remake. Amazing video my dude
I KNEW THIS VIDEO EXISTED!!! I genuinely thought i was tripping when this dissipeared 😭
2:26 Bro really used Stellar Blade when talking about presentation.
Is there something wrong with it? It looks very visually appealing.
@@EventideLight 😏
Hell yeah.
@@EventideLight I’m not complaining, I just think it was funny
@@liammcnicholas918 ok, just had to make sure. Hard to tell on the internet.
So happy to see this video back.
It was one of my favourites and this video really is great return like Edge at the Royal Rumble.
Omg thanks for remaking this I thought I was crazy when I couldn't find it lol, I learned alot from it and am excited to be able to share it with folks again !
It's so crazy How emotional i got from the short clip of etika beating sans... Damn
I think the original was the first video of yours I watched, the first one that got me hooked on your style and channel as a whole. I've loved every video you've put out, some of them hit really hard. Cant wait to see what the future holds. I will have a damn good one.
The feeling that you feel when you say exactly 12,000 feats...
Secretly psychic
I HAVE BEEN HUNTING FOR THIS VIDEO FOR YEARS!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR, FOR RE-UPLOADING IT AND PROVING THAT I WASN'T CRAZY!!!
This was a good one!! I really like how the narrative of these videos always weaves around itself. They're such a joy to watch
thanks so much for putting this back on youtube!!!!! one of my favorite videos on the Sans boss fight, it always reminds me that for how much it's meme-d on it is genuinely good game design. and props for redoing it instead of just finding a way to reupload it, shows your dedication and skill.
This is honestly the first video I've seen of someone talking about Wrestling and Undertale. Thank You ❤️
I’ve been looking for this video forever and in the end just thought it was a fever dream. So so happy you reuploaded it !
I guessed 50,000 km because I was aware of the anchoring effect going in and knew that was what you were going to pull
(I'm referring to my first viewing of the first video, it'd be cheating to count this viewing)
This is one of the videos that got me through Covid times, seeing psych of play again brought a fuzzy warm feeling to my heart, thanks for your work man
I'm very glad that you remade this. I watched the original a few times and I have no doubt that I'll watch this version several times as well. And if you need to remake it again, I'll keep re-watching it. A hundred more times if needed! (Though let's hope that UA-cam isn't that cruel.)
Also, starting low doesn't work for me since my brain immediately goes for hyperbole in almost all situations. Ha ha.
BRO I thought I was crazy! I tried a few weeks ago to find this video again and I COULDN'T, I genuinely thought I may have hallucinated parts of it and confused it with your OTHER pro wrestling videos and EmpLemon's... Thank God it's back.
The "for old times sake" was a wonderful touch.
I like wrestling but I don't know much about Sans Undertale. I wish there was some way that I could learn about him.
Holy shit!
Thank you
Watched it again, didn’t notice you started Kenny’s theme when you really started talking about Sans. The LAYERS. Absolutely fantastic all around!!
honestly this is the first video of watched of daryl in a while
glad to be back. i really missed this
So happy you used the There Came an Echo OST! I was recommended that in one of the last videos TotalBiscuit ever did, and it's been a mainstay of my playlist since.
I just want you to know I watched this video then afterwards immediately logged on to splatoon 3 where my name has been sans for a majority of the games life and got a new randomized title which just happened to be “novice pro wrestler” and I thought that was kinda funny
Also, good video!
(Fleur Marigold has 2 videos that explain this really well)
Exactly. Even tho chara has some limited control they are never the one fighting until asgore. (And the last strike on Sans after we miss.)
Yep
The lines between the three are pretty blurred, to be fair. And intentionally so. Frisk is the "character" we are "controlling", and in some instances their actions are synonymous with the player's actions, but in others they aren't. Chara is very much a character with their own history and personality, but they too are sometimes synonymous with the player, or at least with elements of the player's psyche. Ultimately Undertale is designed to work at both a narrative and meta level simultaneously.
aren't those the videos that are intentionally emotionally manipulative? Chara and the player are partners in crime in the genocide route, you share the role as main villain with them
@@uncroppedsoop Emotionally manipulative???
absolutely loved the original video, and i'm so glad it's back! i still remember my initial guess after 800 being 14k, and I was really surprised to have been so close.
I absolutely love this!! Seriously annoyed I never gave the og vid a watch before, but never been more glad I watched this video now (the anchoring bias is SO real to hype my expectations knowing how much passion you put into wrestling and how loved Sans is)
This was my first video I saw by you. We've had exactly one conversation but I want you to know I've been rooting for you ever since man
Oh wow I’d been looking for this one again over the years and could never find it or why it had disappeared. Glad to see it’s back!
When you asked about the Titanic, EVEN BEFORE you said somewhere under 800 feet i thought "somewhere in the thousands"
I originally ignored this since I thought it was just a reupload... Man, I should've had more faith in you. Thanks Daryl!
i feel like this video was made for ME specifically i am so jealous, this is such a good premise for a video
THE REMAKE!!!
I remember watching this wayyyy back and when I went back to find it later I couldn't find it I thought I got super Mandela Effected or something glad to see it back, one of my favorite vids you'd made :)
DUUUDE this is literally something i never knew i needed! love when you analize pro wrestling with games man
Wonderful!
I feel like I recall watching this in the beginning of your channel.
Adrenaline in my soul,
Time for a new Sans video!
I remember watching the original when it came out
I had to watch the remade version this time. Great video Daryl!
The silly video about the titanic, sans, and wrestling I show to my friends is back and even better!! THANK YOU DARYL!!!
OMG THIS WAS LIKE MY FAVORITE VIDEO IM SO GLAD IT’S BACK
Genius video. Interesting topic, buncha analogies (I love analogies) and incredible music choice and timing. Keep up the great work.
And the Psych of Play card coming back was just so nostalgic.
after all the oceangate drama i was damn sure it's about 4km deep
I have been waiting for this! hell yeah!
It returns! Hopefully this one doesn't get taken down, it's too cool to deserve that fate.
Was wondering what happened to this video! Happy to see it!
This video filled me with determination!
I'll see myself out
I wasn't expecting to like a pro wrestling video this much, even if it is a Daryl video. Good job.
Great video but one thing I really wished was specified was that WWE wrestling and the sport of wrestling are completely different and should not get confused. As someone who used to wrestle in school and knows how hard that is as a sport it frustrates me to not only see people think WWE is wrestling but especially if they think it's real.
Such a great video and cross-over I didn't expect, a lot of great design explanation all round....but will be THAT guy, pre-determined, not fake ;)
i had no idea the original was taken down, this was one of my favorite vids in the old psych of play run! can't wait to see the definitive edition remaster DX directors cut
Thanks for all your hard work, homie! I thought the title seemed familiar, but wasn't sure. I'll gladly watch it again
Oh hell yeah brother! My absolute favorite video is back and better than ever.
I got the depth right because of the oceangate submarine a year ago. Didn’t think id use this information again
XD
Amazing video, couldn't help myself but to subscribe to your Patreon. This needs to be made!

Yes, this is a three-month-old video, and yes, this seems like such a little thing, but it's not.
Frisk is the name of the character you play as, Chara's the name of the first human to fall into the underground that appears at the end of the genocide route due to turning demonic because of Frisk's, or rather your, choices.
I remember watching the original video during either 2020 or 2021, thanks for an excuse to go down memory lane
Oh my god thank you so much i was looking everywhere for this
It’s a funny coincidence that just today I was thinking about this video and I was sad it was gone, but now it’s back! Huzzah!
