Do you know if this plane is compatible with the Spektrum Dxe transmitter? I have this transmitter from the Aeroscout.

Ok I hit the link and they are no longer sold out but they have one less now. FYI I called Horizon Hobby about my Ultrix problem and they are shipping me a new one with a return label for the old one. I was only on the phone with them may be one or two minutes, that is how a good company treats their customers.

I thought I remembered you doing a video on the Timber Turbo 1.5. Don't seem to see one. Was hoping to get your thoughts on a 4s lipo for it. I remembered you had suggested batteries for some other planes.

I mounted a tiny fpv camera on my turbo Timber guys. Wow you have to try it. I was using flaps and safe and I felt like I was walking on air through my goggles. Fpv landing with the timber was easy also.
What set up did you use or what camara ?

Took mine out on its maiden flight today. I am a very new pilot. First impressions.. love it. Ran 3 batteries through it. And had a ball put it in half flaps and just puttered around the open space in a local park. Had only one accident. Mistook the throttle cutoff switch for the mode switch no real damage. Only wish Horizon would have used a plastic prop spinner instead of foam. After just a couple of nose over landings in the grass
My wife was going to get me a timber umx for my birthday in March but they have been out of stock on horizon hobby, so when I saw this I ordered one thru the rcsaylor link so hopefully it comes in time. I have been watching your videos non stop for the last couple weeks and think they're great, keep them coming.

Now that is a plane that excites me. I love the bush plane with the STOL characteristics, perfect for flying just about anywhere and with the lights any time of day or night works as well. Some of the biggest problems with LOS planes is finding a suitable flying field for take off and landing and in the winter time when the days are short it is nice to be able to extend the fun into the evening and night. It seems like it would even do well in a gymnasium type setting. Great review RC sailor, it has been a long time since a plane has excited me so much.

I want to add fixed wing into my RC flying since I just started Helicopters last Spring. The UMX Turbo Timber looks like the perfect size for the small field I live around.

Nice.....I'll just Upgrade the Motor and the 3 Blade prop on my OG Umx Timber. The Timber line is Imo the best Birds Horizon Hobby Has. Now all we need a Umx Timber X..Now I'll be gettin one of those. But for now Im gonna upgrade both 1.5m and Umx.

Just purchased this one as my first plane, just love how it's an all the things I was looking for in a small package.
is it relativity beginner friendly? I've flown a bunch of cheap 500mm(Ish) rtfs but never anything with ailerons.
@@luckyduck3594 I've had problems binding it to my dx6i remote properly. So I don't know how it's suppose to operate normally. Right now I have the safe working but not the flaps, and seems to fly decent. Does not do well in a cross wind, because it's so light.

Great flying plane and perfect for stepping out of my garage and doing a quick morning or evening flight on a couple of acres of front yard.
My second UMX TT (applied credit for burned out main board to an entire new bird) is in the mail and should arrive tomorrow via FedX. I think I'm going to fly it without slats for a least a few flights just to see. [Sure wish slats for these planes were designed easy on easy off.]

Going back in your guys older vids to look up some planes I just picked up.. excited for the turbo timber and normal timber.. nice lights, brushless and FLAPS.. never had a plane with flaps! Nate makes this look like such a stable plane, should be fun.

Just got one of these as a 2nd UMX plane. I have the Sport Cub S2 and wanted this to learn to use flaps.
I did the same and I'm loving the flaps! It flys crazy slow anyways but what a lot of fun
I got mine today was in stock and horizon hobbies shipped it in two days.
Well dang late to the party twice in the same day.☹☹😟. Very nice plane, looks good, flew great. If you had a bit more wind you could have held it in place like GPS hold. Low,and slow was was almost reverse. Good flying, Abby your turn. Knew the tires were good for grass take off. Definitely a good plane. ⚓👍👍💖👍💝👍💚👍👍⚓⚓.

I just bought one of these from my local brick and mortar (Hobbytown USA), and have managed to bind to the DX6e which also arrived today. I was RTDMing and got tired of it (my eyes are getting old), so I went to the video y'all did on the xmitter and boom. Just like that. Now I just need to figure out which channel SAFE is on... :) Maybe I'll get brave enough to put it in the air sometime. :)

Same here. I started with a small 70$ mini mustang (sweet plane) and now within 2 weeks of buying that plane I have a aeroscout s. Man I love that plane as well! It has been really windy, but I fly whenever I can! I am so addicted to rc planes now!!!

Love your videos! Would you choose this plane or the Arrows Pioneer 620mm RTF for slow speed, STOL, 3D-ish flying in a backyard environment where your plane will literally be lost in the jungle if it gets away? I'll probably end up buying them both eventually, but what would you choose if you could only pick one?... including things to factor in like the longer flight time and (from what I hear) greater durability of the the Arrows Pioneer? I do crash and I do lose planes, unfortunately. If I get the UMX Timber, I'll be binding it to the DXS transmitter that came with my Aeroscout. Thanks for your advice!
Wow...nice plane. Is it weight critical or could it handle a small camera/vtx/antenna unit with a small 1s. ?? Looks like a good plane for FPV beginners.

I assume that it is modeled after the Helio Currier airplane. My father had a friend who owned one and we would fly all over the southeast and midwest in it. That plane would take off and land almost like it was a helicopter. I might have to buy this just because :).......nostalgia

Should the receiver battery connection have 2 or 3 pins.?mine only has 2 and looks like it maybe had 3 and I am having binding problems so I wonder if thats the problem. Horizon has gone home for the weekend and I really want to fly .thanks

I bought both this plane and the same spektrum dx6e. Did you ,after binding, do anything more? Do I have to get into the setting to change things? The plane arrived last week and I expecting the spektrum dx6e this week. Thanks for sharing all your flight videos, you both got me inspired to get back in rc planes.

Miner arrived today. I spent the last 3 hours reading the booklet and getting to know the plane. Last thing I want to do is crash!
Hey guys, great maiden, but would help to have some basic info, even off to the side, as to battery , motor size, whats included. Not a complaint, just a suggestion. I've only flown quads, but plan on buying a beginner plane for this upcoming season ( I'm in central Canada ). From a total noob as far as beginner planes go, I like the big, bouncy tires. I know enough 2nd hand that landing is the issue.
I'm not a Horizon fan, but my buddy has a few, and you have to respect their products.Also, I have a DX 6, so .....

Yup! It has a spektrum (DSMX) receiver. That's what's so great about jumper radios, they work with everything.

Sweet Moses! What a great video. I am looking to get my first RC plane in about 20 years. A few veteran flyers recommended this plane, and it has room to grow and do some 3D stunts. I"m gonna take a few more weeks, as weather in south NJ is not accommodating for me. But I am pretty sure this is the one I will be getting with the upgrade SAFE and AS3X in the BNF setup. I know this plane only needs 6 channels, what is the difference between the DX8e and DX8 Gen 2. Is the $100 increase in price worth it in the long run?
DX8E has cheaper feel, DX8 Gen2 has voice alerts that you can program and it has a better more quality feel.

just picked a Timber UMX...Question: is there a way to use a different battery, as opposed to the E-Flight proprietary 280mAh 2S LiPo ....can I buy an adapter for this planes ESC ?...if so, what exactly would it be called ?.....I have found many other 2S 450mAh LiPos for a lot less, but their connectors are different...thanks for any help
Yes, you can buy a converter. We do this for a lot of our RCs too! A search for the type of connector the plane has, to the battery connector type you want should give you lots of results!
