UMX TURBO TIMBER: Tiny plane, big fun!

- I'm back with another flight vid - this time with the crazy cute UMX Turbo Timber! This is the scaled down ("ultra-micro") version of the 1.5 m E-Flite Timber, and just what I needed to build my confidence as a "beginner-mediate" pilot. I've been trying to fit in as much flying practice as I can before the days get short! Super big fan of bush/STOL planes. This small park flyer would fit nicely in anyone's fleet - from those who are still growing their skills (you're covered with SAFE select flight mode!), to the more experienced pilot.
With functional flaps, lights, 3-blade prop, optional SAFE-select (which limits your controls for those who are learning), and big bush tires - I really enjoyed this plane!

It is so refreshing to see a woman taking the controls and flying rc planes! Doesn't hurt when they are beautiful too! Thanks for the video was fun watching a fellow flyer doing what we love to do and fly!
The greatest gift a woman has is her smile! Thank you for sharing. We need more ladies in this Hobby. You have a wonderful smile. Also you did a great review on this plane.
Of all my planes, I fly my Turbo Timber UMX by far the most. This little plane has plenty of power, looks fantastic, and is a great size to fly anywhere. Thanks rc girl
i guess it's kinda randomly asking but do anyone know a good site to watch new movies online ?
@Krew Leonardo Try flixportal. Just google for it :)
this is the best UMX!!
i love this plane!
My favorite UMX Horizon plane! We have two of them and also its big brother! STOL flying is so cool.
"A back roll..." (loop) - thanks for the video, I missed RC Girl, am glad you are back to making videos. The coolest girl in YT.
The best UMX plane ever from my favorite RC reviewer! Go Girl!
I love the plane. I like taking off from the box and trying to land on the box
It's really easy to land on the box with floats on.
The wheels roll too much.
Ce petit « bolide » est capable de tout faire avec presque tous les pilotes .!..bravo
Word of the day, "NIOCE" 😄😄😄😄😄
You forgot weeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Awesome, great video !
Thoss rc plane so beautiful, thanks for sharing 👍
flying skypark! awesome, hope to see you out there when I run my turbo timber over holiday vacation!
Gotta put some cameras on this little bird for some of those aerial "B-Rolls!" Fun stuff! Best regards, Dave.
❤️ the vid!! Just bought my first timber because of you!! Still learning!!
I love the cinematic shots. Andthe Ariel drone and follow are sick !!!
This is a great little plane. The nose landing was AMAZING !!! 😉
Looks great and impressive performance shown by great piloting and footage.
Oh wow just beautiful, and the plane was pretty good too!!! he he .. Almost at the freezing mark here today so I guess
I won't try to fly anything. The Timber has always been a great aircraft. Keep safe, and Happy Flying
👏Beautiful
I have a few planes and this one is by far the best I own
The Habu is my next plane purchase, good stuff 💪🏾💯
There fun little planes, love mine. Great flight
I'm addicted to park flyers. Fun size.
UMX
Awesome content ..keep doing planes and helo's..all the videos are great and informative 👌👍
Nice to see a pretty young lady into RC all I see is a bunch of us old men flying 😊💕😊
Very well done video. I tried watching RC Sailors about this plane and gave up with their content. I'm glad I found your channel.
Great to see airplane again :)
Just flew mine for the first time. 30 seconds of fun before I did the ol' lawn dart maneuver and broke the nose and motor off. Got it all glued back together though.
Nice flight ✈️, amazing and 😎
Hi RC Girl,
Very nice, your really getting a-lot more confident in you flying abilities!! So cool, the timber is a great airplane, I'm going to get one!!
So RC Girl, have you ever thought about building a balsa model of your choice and flying her? I used to love to build them back in the day, didn't like crashing them though!! I wished Realflight would have been around back then!!! I'm really thinking about getting back into the craft! Now that I'm retired!! I wanna build a big ole DH 82 Tiger Moth, I love the 21% scale 72"wing span Toni Clark Tiger!! She looks so real, I wanna trick her out with a life like pilot! These days I've been restoring a classic Sailboat an old 1981 Falmouth Cutter, should have her in the water soon!! But I still wanna get back into RC !! I'm so glad you have so much fun with it, really like your channel!!
I need to find a book on all the electric RC gizmos these days, so interesting! I also have plans for a 18th scale 43 inch wingspan Rutan VariViggen canard plane, I think a electric engine would be great for that puppy!!! Maybe a fan jet or big ole 5 bladed prop.... Sweeeeeeeeeet : )
Keep her in the green! (Engine instruments) Keep the blue side up and the brown side down!! (attitude indicator) As we use too say!!
Peace out!
Doug

This plane is a blast, especially in the wind.
Im glad you had luck with the little turbo, I crunched mine a couple of times, ordered new parts fixed and painted it like new, and sold it...Keep on testing the birds...
NIOCE!! 😉 U got the skills nice flying
Awesome RC Girl 👍👍👍👍😎😎😎😎 video I ❤️ airplanes and I enjoying your videos 👍👍👍👍👍👍😎 AWESOME turbo timber and looks great in the air great job RC Girl 👍😎❤️
Great video, good job ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks its very nice , very nice video 👍😎
I’m going to have to get one. I wish they didn’t discontinue “the umx beast”! That was AWESOME.
I started out with the original Timber UMX. Any small field or parking lot becomes a place to fly and get accumulated to things like your transmitter controls when you’re new to the sport. Nothing beats more “stick time” when you get started and the Timber UMX’s gives you the ability to fly just about anywhere with almost no setup time.
5 years into this hobby the UMX Timbers are still fun. Not the best plane on a mildly windy day though. There’s more foam in a 44 ounce cup you’d get at a convenience store. LOL!
Uoiiii... Noiceeee 😆
初めまして、私は日本の埼玉県さいたま市浦和区でラジコン飛行機を楽しんでおります。素晴らしいフライト、気持ち良さそうです。
飛行機は楽しいですね!
Awesome Want the Big One!! That is Cute ,Just like You
So cute the plane you great video 😊👍
🤗
ty both for always teaching me something new everytime i see a video just learning to fly tkkxs for yourr cool stickers los anglels ca tkxs rc girl mike
Hey, great to see you! I thought you'd left the flying part of the hobby. LOL I have both versions of the UMX Timber and they're great. Just got my UMX Citation Longitude bizjet delivered yesterday. LOL
I've flown this thing while snowing. It will land and taxi! on fresh snow.
Awesome REALY ENJOY YOUR VIDEOS ,My LADY🌹
Bought the UMX after my Timber Turbo ton of fun
Love your channel
Thank!
Love mine! Actually my 2nd... Had a little flyaway issue with my first but not the plane’s fault. Winds aloft+Operator error🤪🤣
Wow, looks like a nice little flyer. I have to pick one up soon. I just got the new A-10 that runs on 3S, very fast UMX plane. Not for beginners, I have been flying for over 20 years, I have lots of experience (crashes) under my belt! LOL!!! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
Weeee! This is the plane I was looking at for a first plane... I like to live dangerously though.
Not the best trainer. Definitely a skill lvl.2 plane. Try the hobby zone Sport Cub s. The best trainer, I still fly mine.
Thank you RC Girl! I'll be soon one happy owner of this plane! Can't wait, reviews are so positive!
Yeah I'm getting a lot of flight time with this, nothing but smiles 😁
@@RCGirl I did my first flight today! A bit nervous as I configured a T8SG open TX for this plane and it was also a first. But it all went well! ✌️😄
@@RCscale101 congrats!!! 🤙🏼
I have every iteration of the UMX Timbers, including the launch version of the original UMX Timber, an of course the UMX Turbo Timber. Also have the large versions of each (Timber an Turbo Timber), plus both the Timber X and now the Night Timber X. These are FANTASTIC planes, an though I've moved on to much larger 6S planes an EDF's, I still take my UMX Timber out on a flight all that I can, it's just THAT good an so relaxing!
With these UMX planes, do yourself a favor an find/buy as many replacement spinners as you can. They are foam, an one or two tip-overs will have the whole assembly out of balance an almost impossible to "fix" the spinner.
*C'est le petit avion que l'on peut mettre dans un petit sac !!!*
Il a l'air bien.
The back roll is called a loop. 😁
Thank you for reading my comment! Keep up the good work 👍
Суперски👍👍👍👍👍, ты отличный пилот. Я боюсь летать, но ты молодец👍👍👍🌸🌸🌸
I repainted mine, and Flew the Batteries to death. I had to replace then, and now back at it. It's the best in the evening.
Great video!!! I"m just about to get into rc flying and plan on getting this plane. I'm putting a lot of time into flight simulator before I take off though. lol
I love my UMX TT... I never fly with SAFE enabled, and it does some tight loops turns and rolls. I wanna get the 1.5 meter version because if it flies like it's little brother, it'll be awesome
Cute! Whiskers and all! I’m going to buy this plane for my brothers first plane.
"How to" program the flaps might be helpful....I fried the linear servo ....
Local hobby shop repaired it for me...
Been a great plane for me to learn on.
Love it!
It's in the manual, tells you how as well as the throws required. I'm curious what you may have done that would fry a servo?
@@mtnmyke I had the throws wrong and the servo was trying to travel beyond the limits....stripped the gears as well as melting the board....
Yes, I will be more careful with the instructions as I learn going forward...
i am wondering have you looked at imac rc planes and what you can do with them you could look at the hangar 9 ultra stick to start with petrol planes
wow 👍🏾
Hi RC Girl!...I really enjoy this little plane! But you're so right! It should be considered as a 2nd plane. It nearly like flying a potato chip for goodness' sake. It's very delicate for sure...I have to say, your RC park is pretty darn awesome. It looks friendly to All RC pilots and operators. I see quad gates, plenty of open field and tracks for the ground guys and girls! If I've not heard you say before, can you tell me the name of the park? Thanks! More should be modeled after this one. My local AMA sanctioned field is fully of whinny retired babies👶
That definitely could be a first plane. I started on a ultra stick 35 cc dle airplane of course i had a buddy box connected with my instructor at first he told me this is a fast plane to begin with so I started with him on the sim and then i flew it in real. Awesome experience he told he haven’t had any student that has learned with such a big and powerful plane. So my recommendation? Start on a simulator invest an hour a day for maybe 1 month and when you feel comfortable talk to an instructor and guaranteed you can fly every airplane you would like.
Noice !!
That’s so freaking dope!...that beeping noise reminded me of the 80’s tiger electronics handheld games 😂😂😂😂....thank you for sharing such a wonderful video and also being such a mesmerizingly beautiful representative in the Rc world!😊
Focus!!! Focus!!!
Great video, thank you, and you have a new subscriber! Just curious - did you ever try it with the LE slats? Do they make a difference?
I totally forgot these came with slats, had to rewatch the vid haha! Haven't put them on yet, but I did install them on my new turbo timber Evolution and tend to make the plane a little less aerobatic, but help with slowing on landings
How were you able to change safe select from switch A to C? I'm having a really heard time with that. I want it on switch D. Tried moving the stick down and out and toggled switch D 10 times, but it doesn't take. Just stays on switch A. Thanks for any input.
Will it work with the spektrum dsx?
Would you rate or prefer this to the sport cub?
I really enjoy your videos, but would like some more detail around the programming of the plane, including safe, flaps, expo, etc. Also comments about the battery connector, which is PH 3 pin, but apparently requires a dedicated charger and doesn't have any adapters?
I flown mine in high wiend and could not get her to come down. Wonder where she wound up.
Noice....😁
Do I need to adjust SAFE settings before the flight, or is it already adjusted from the factory?
I just got one. It makes a loud constant tone yet all controls work. Anyone have a solution for the tone problem?
very very noice...
'Noice' 😂👍
Rather counter intuitive having your flap switch set up to lower flaps and down switch to raise flaps, personal choice I suppose. Great video thanks
you may not know this, but hey: do you think 2s lion or 3s lion can be used for long range long duraton flight? thx.
I noticed that you didn't put the slats on your umx turbo timber should I put them on or leave them off ?
To be clear, the jittery sound isn't necessarily from linear servos, but more from digital servos that are constantly trying to "find center". However, yes, it is completely normal.
"Wheeeeee!"
Where can I get one please now ! I live in England UK .
I’m deeply invested in ground and water RC’s. Around forty of each. I have been avoiding getting into airplanes trying to have more focus on what I have but your flying videos are breaking me down. What plane would you suggest for a beginner with zero flight time. Great video. Thanks.
Check out her video on the sport cub s.
Flying is so fun, and a whole different level compared to ground vehicles and boats. You have a huge advantage already knowing the tech side! Find yourself a club or someone to help you to check the plane and trim it properly. If you want to learn by yourself, practice in a sim and practice in a structured way. Most people who try to fly a plane without previous experience usually last only seconds. I’ve seen it too many times. Most common mistake is to forget pulling back on the gas after the start, second is being unable to fly a plane that is not trimmed out - you should to some hand throws over high grass to trim before launching in earnest. I’d suggest a 1,5 m size EPO/EPP in the Multiplex Easy Star vein with a pusher prop as a first plane. Good luck!
Get yourself a float plane as a kind of compromise if you have water available for RC, something like this looks like it could be fun ua-cam.com/video/FQMDZDaLZn0/v-deo.html
Greg vid! Is this for a newbie with an instructor?
Do you know how, i can use my dxs?
You say you feel this plane is better as a second plane. Would you suggest the Turbo Timber 1.5 better as a first plane then? If not then what? I am limited on space and I was considering the UMX because of being a park flyer plus more advanced features to allow advancement.
Nice video. Right now I'm learning on a HZ Sort Cub S 2 and RF9.5 with the intentions of upgrading to another plane this coming Spring. I think this UMX Turbo Timber would make an ideal second plane for me but I cringe about having to buy an expensive Radio. Maybe if I'm patient I can pick up a DX6 or 8 at a decent price as folks upgrade to the new Specktrum NX radios.
This will work with a DXe (run around $70) but yeah, it will only work with one model at a time.
@Ian Howden Yeah, I'm also looking at RadioMaster and OrangeRX transmitters. I joined a club just about a month ago and the handful of guys I've met so far are all using Specktrum. I asked them abut other protocols and was told other radios have been tried but they always come back to Spektrum. Basically was told/strongly suggested to save up, bite the bullet and get a Spektrum DX6 or better.
Why are flaps not recommended on a first plane?
Where is the flying field you flew the mini Timber Turbo in the Vid?
Hi: I would like to install fpv, kopilot, and then do touch and go with this thing. no?
I bought the Sport Cub and also wanted something to handle some wind. Was looking at the Carbon Cub, liked the tail dragger style, but I got the Mini Apprentice, liked the one wing more than the two section wing set up. Not sure if I had a controller already that I would get this, although if I had a controller, I would have been more advanced to use the flap option. What is the battery you have for that? I watched your channel when considering the two planes and remember that you used a bigger/larger MAH battery. Because of this, I'd like to put a small sticker of yours on the tail. How would I get one?
She uses a 2200mah in the apprentice. You can grab stickers off her etsy store.
If only I had a plane I would fly to you to see you loverly SMILE as always.
Great Video
Thanks!!
Can I have a BIG BIG smile 😊 on your next video 👍🏻
Awesome👍🏻 mmm bad hair day?😅
At 0:20 the landing gear on the big timber is on backward?
Haha, good eye! She has since fixed it.
Motor sounds the same as umx timber, is the difference the name and prop?
i want one :)
BEWARE : I just picked a Turbo Timer UMX...I am very disappointed about the ESC / battery connector..............E-Flite requires that you buy more proprietary adapters , charging cables and their proprietary LiPos to get this in the air.....I have found many other 2S LiPos for a lot less, but none fit their connectors ...if anyone has a solution to stop being nickled and dimed from them, thanks for any help.....
Did u not get any constant loud buzzing noise from the servo when plugging in the battery?
Yeah they are linear servos that are known to buzz. It's normal
