Thank you Winter. This series broke my apathy and got me playing again. And helped me get back to being a gold league goober once again. Love the series!
Additional tip(s): Just like Ctrl clicking a unit will select all units of that type, Ctrl+Shift Clicking gets RID of all units of that type in your selection. Useful for deselecting spellcasters from your main army, or deselecting Non-Anti-air units when bringing the stalkers/chadrays back home to defend against the moota/BCs. Only-anti-Ground-attack army can keep damaging bases while your AA units come to home to play tag with the other player's base-strafing units. Your opponent's sick micro notwithstanding, imminent surrender (and humiliation) is inevitable. You can then contact your probe lawyers to file restraining orders against this blatant workplace harassment! 😘😤

great vid, BIGSAM is a RL friend, lived 4 houses down from me.. hes always been really good at SC even before broodwar and somehow i became addicted to it as well, but over the years he has learned more and perfected his strats, hes not a pro by any means but i think if matched up to some of these pros, he wouldnt be a push over by a long shot
Again incredible. I went from vibe b2gm, to this. I'm scared of micro'ing but your simple concepts. Make me understand its a muscle to build, just like macro'ing.
I got to platinum by only making marines and hellbats. I went maccro, maccron and no micro at all. In late game id have 4 to 5 factory with reactors, 24 barracks with reactors, fully upgraded marines and hell bats. Id have 16 orbital command centers for constant mule drops and at make 48 marines and 8 to 10 hellbats at a time and rally accross the map. 2 units in que constantly for all barracks and factory. So as my attack wave of 48 marines and 8 - 10 helbats cross the map, another full attack wave is being built. - The way players play in starcraft is they counter attack right after they successfully defended but against me in you attack i have a new army already made by the time you cross the map. So i overrun my enemies with my constant attacks or i run out of minerals and lose. But my strategy worked in 9 out of 10 games due to my insane maccro that i learned from playing against elite ai constantly. I went from bronze league that i was stuck in for severals and gave up to play versus ai to platinum league and got back my confidence as i was playing against diamond leagues and winning. Then i played against some master league guys in customs games that i met in an arcade game called StarBattle, they were bragging that never ever win and turns out i beat them overwhelmingly: Altho they were able to defend against my constant attack waves, i was slowly and gradually building a secret battle cruiser fleet in my starting base, just 2 at a time. Eventually i started decreasing the number of marines and hellbats i was producing at once, making my attack waves smaller. The master lvl guys assumed i was running on minerals and started telling me in chat that i never had a chance at winning to begin with. The game was a 8 players ffa and by that time the only ones alive left were me and the 2 masters. I was laughting at them saying i was about to win while didnt believe me and kept battling each other, until i maxed out on battle cruisers and almost fully wiped out one of them. Then the other master player found out the damage i did and was in disbelief, he didnt see my battle cruisers yet and the master i wrekt first chose to remain silent until the second master player (the one that bragged the most) finally saw my battle cruisers and literally rage quited. It was hilarous, i was so happy i suddenly got up irl and as i did i clumsily hit my laptop causing to fall on the ground and breaking..... This was the last Starcraft game i ever played. - All in all, not a bad way to quit starcraft, makes it a great memory and easy to remember. Tho i was devastated when i accidentally broke my computer.
Hey Winter, great vid but i still seek guidance. I'm mostly comfortable doing 2 base timings but trying to learn that highly panned macro style. The big thing for me is obviously taking that 3rd base and here comes the question. More often than not i see players take the linear third instead of the standard location. Can you elaborate further on why and when to choose which option? Thanks!
You take the linear third if you want to expand further away from your opponent. Against terran it's a good idea because it prevents them dropping in your third and picking up and dropping in your main by the time you get down there.
When going colossi i used to build a bunch of immortals first and supliment them with stalkers. Only need about 3 colossi with range upgrade thats a must have. Then have a huge number of stalkers and immortals. They wont go ultra because immortals hard counters them and immortals will kill buildings fast snd stays alive a long time. To counter you they will go corrupters but they will need a lot to get past your stalkers and that range upgrade makes it way harder for him to sniper your colossi, so he will make like 8 or more corrupters to snipe colissi. Thats a lot of army pop that cant do anything after that, so this is when you attack his base. This is when having all those immortals pays off. You go snipe his hive and important buildings then its clean up time and you win. Make sure not to kill corrupters and do the attack before he gets broodlords so spire and pool are first target then its hive and everything else. Have a few warp prism follow colossi for decoy against corruptets and to reinforce army with stalkers warp in. The stalkers alone when in critical mass can defeat lings but really they are there as meatshield for the immortals and colossi. It wasby using this composition of units that i first started to win against elite ai.

im telling you, just recommend people tank their mmr. then you can play against people of lower skill, and try out crazy builds. i wouldnt recommend cheeses, but it helps with scouting patterns, creep spread, creating workers, etc..
So basicly you recommend to smurf. I dont believe you when you say it helps with learning, it doesnt, because you are trying it against a much inferior player, so it teaches you nothing. Against a player at your level it might not work at all. There is only one reason for smurfing by tanking mmr : cowardice. These guys are afraid to loose, their fragile ego must alwys win. They are basicly bullies that enjoy beating on much weaker players. And as collaterall they are driving poeple away from SC2, because it is quite frustrating. In short they are morons , who hurt the not so huge SC2 playerbase.
That first game highlights why I despise Zerg. If Winter hadn't walled off perfectly as Protoss, he'd have lost at the first attack. He had to build the perfect unit composition and use spell casters just to survive. All the Zerg player had to do was build the most basic unit in the game and keep attack clicking to win. It's pathetic how OP Zerg are, Blizzard's "master race" in StarCraft 2.

Talk too much trash and he'll eat you like an amoeba
Maybe one day he'll promote me in discord
To sub rank for the streamer where my love is poured
Also for an actual question, can a reaper grenade your disrupter danger balls back at you?
im telling you, just recommend people tank their mmr. then you can play against people of lower skill, and try out crazy builds.
i wouldnt recommend cheeses, but it helps with scouting patterns, creep spread, creating workers, etc..
You do realize that unranked games exist right?
@@Valhalla05 Im confused what does it have to do with the subject?
@@firestarter000001 Because OP is recommending to tank your MMR to try new things. But Unranked exists to try new things without risking your rank.
You seriously complaining that all you need to do is place buildings properly once at the start of the game in order to repel all zerg aggression?
He had 202 APM in the end, the guy's a Smurf and most likely, stream sniper. If allowed more APM, thus more scouting, Winter would've slapped him.
@@TheAgavi No, as you'd know if you actually read what I wrote.
