I’ve started watching these videos with goodreads open in another tab, fingers poised over keyboard, ready to snatch up those sweet book recommendations
I really like a gentleman’s guide to vice and virtue and a lady’s guid to petticoats and piracy and the lady Janes series(my lady Jane and my plain Jane)
you should definitely read between shades of gray. It's a really emotional and heartbreaking story that not many people talk about and I'd love to know that more people know about the events that occurred in the book.
I'm reading All the Light We Cannot See right now, and it's so good!! The writing style is so detailed and rich, and you can really tell that a lot of research went into it. Also, if you haven't read Between Shades of Gray, you need to! I loved Salt to the Sea too, but Between Shades of Gray has just stuck with me for such a long time.
I love historical fiction, my favourites are "The Pillars of the Earth" by Ken Follett, "A Thousand Splendid Suns" and "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini and the "Outlander" series.
Ruta Sepetys is one of my favorite historical fiction writers. I read Salt to the Sea last year and bought Between Shades of Grey while in D.C a month ago. Ghosts of War is also a good historical fiction series for kids.
Salt to the sea is literally one of my favourite books ever. I have 2 copies (one for others to borrow and one personal one 🤡) I've read it so many times 🤧
One of my fav historical fiction ya books is the gentleman’s guide duology (?) It feels so modern, yet it is set in the 1700s and I absolutely loved it. I highly highly recommend it!
How did you forget about Mackenzie's Lee famous duology of The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue and The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy these are one of my favourite historical fiction novels all the time..
Historical Fiction/Historical are the types of books I read the most. It's literally all I read except for some mystery books here and there. Here are just a few recommendations: The boy in the striped pajamas, [the war that saved my life (book 1) the war I Finally Won (book 2) ], dust of Eden (for those who like poetry), [Once (book 1), Then (book 2), Now (book 3)], War Horse, A Night Divided, Jefferson's Sons, Warriors Don't Cry, Sing Down the Moon and finally - Island of Blue Dolphins. I'm putting in another one that isn't historical fiction BUT it's one of my favorite books of all time! It is HURT GO HAPPY GO READ
Another historical fiction/fantasy series is the Amberhouse series. The books that are out are, #1 Amberhouse and #2 Neverwas. There was supposed to be a third book, but they still haven't written it yet.
You should read the manga Vagabond--- it's a historical/fictional account of this legendary but real samurai Miyamoto Musashi . the art is also so beautiful and amazing
I definitely recommend the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco! The fourth and final book comes out in a few months. Very good series!!
I am usually not one that likes book "talk". I love, love, love to read, but I simply buy what sounds good to me. But something about your character makes me watch every single one of your videos. You always make me smile and I really appreciate your opinions.
I really loved The Deviners series by Libba Bray. I think it does a great job at portraying the feeling and atmosphere of the 1920s and all of the issues that were unfolding at that time. Another thing i really love about is the way the characters are written, they are just SO MUCH FUN to read about!
I'm always hesitant to try historical fiction but these all sound pretty interesting to me. The Passengers Duology has been on my TBR list for a while now and I'm hoping to get to it soon.
Nadine Brandes' other book Fawkes was really cool and made me interested in the whole 5th of November stuff since I knew nothing about it previously and the magic system that she introduced was super cool!
I've never read The Conqueror's Saga, but it sounds good! LOOOOOVE Salt to the Sea and The Book Thief! I read Passengers (of course I love Alexandra Bracken) but I never actually picked up the second! I need to!
Salt to the Sea was SO good. I have reread it so many times! I cannot get across enough how good this book and author is. Highly recommend picking it up😊
i'm currently reading the book thief and this video came at the right time to give me a push bc it's indeed quite slow paced and i really don't wanna dnf it
If you enjoyed Salt to the Sea I think you'll also really like between shades of gray. I would also say the nightingale was one I really loved from a couple years ago
A historical book series I love is Outlander. It's one of my favourites. It might be slow going at times, and the books are quite long, but if you can overlook that, they are great. If you don't want to read them, watch the TV show. The show is a very good adaption, and watching the show made me read the books, and thus fall in love with them.
you should definitely read ruta sepetys other book, between shades of gray. it was so stunning, and i highly recommend it. one of those books where you feel like it has the power to change lives 😭
JESSE IF YOU ARE A READER AND IF YOU LOVE YOUR FANS I BEG OF YOU READ Lovely War It’s an AMAZING story of love and loss in the midst of World War One. There are four main characters- Hazel, James, Aubrey, and Colette. They are all well developed characters and they are easy to fall in love with. The “plot twist” is that the whole story is being told from the point of view of the Greek Gods in the future. Aphrodite is telling this story to save her future. I won’t say more so you can have a fun time reading it, but I would LOVE it if you could read it and recommend it to others. Pass on the knowledge! Thanks!!! I love your channel so much!!! Have A Great Summer!
Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres, so I have a lot of recs for it, but one I recently read is My Lady Jane and it's sooo hilarious! It's a retelling of the story of Lady Jane Grey, and there's some fantasy elements thrown in as well, so I think you'd really like it!
Ruta Sepetys's books are amazing! And it was really interesting to read Between Shades of Gray because the main character is related to the main character in Salt to the Sea
Ooo!! I bought Romanov because of this! You should try My Lady Jane and My Plain Jane which are probably my favourite historical retellings ever. My Lady Jane also has a fantasy magic element so I think you'll like it!
Everytime I watch your videos, my TBR pile gets bigger.... and I regret nothing.
