But when confronting Orlagh about the murder of Balekin, once Jude admits she killed him, Cardan banishes her to the human world, meaning that instead of ruling together, he holds the sole power of the kingdom. He never renounced her title as queen, so while she is still the queen of Elfhame, since she is not allowed inside Elfhame she has no power to rule it, and thus she's 'The Queen of Nothing' because she has nothing to rule.
I miss the whoosh kinda. I love The Cruel Prince! It’s one of my favorites but I think that book that solidified that is The Wicked King. But for sure, it’s a really good Fae series and I understand why it’s so hyped!

I started reading and watching One piece since I m 15... I’m 29 now... lol I’m excited for you! It’s my favorite anime/manga ever! It will literally make you feel everything a human can feel!
I love One Piece. It is a long series. I've read some of the manga and I've seen almost 700 episodes into the anime. I can see that sometimes the anime gets dragged out because it's catching up with the manga and you get some arcs that aren't great (Skypeia almost stopped me from continuing), but it's such a great show.
I'm really enjoying your editing style lately Jesse. Your videos have always been very entertaining, but now they have this calming essence to it and I love that.
You should definitely read the ALEX RIDER series! Also, when you recommended SHADOW OF THE FOX, I read and it is my favourite book of the year so far! I can't wait for the next one- SOUL OF THE SWORD!

(especially if you watch it in the anime) And I actually prefer the anime to see it in action. I noticed the diabolic is on the tbr book cart. If you haven't read it yet, prioritize it! I just read it this month and I LOVED IT SO MUCH! why has nobody ever recommend it to me??? Written for me! Also, my husband makes me write this. He likes the one piece mangas the most, better than the anime.
Jesse, we all had the same thought process with The Cruel Prince. It's so tragic and awful and terribly cruel and somehow Holly Black made us be there for all of it. Building empathy for wicked people is a hard thing to do... and she did it! I had so much empathiesssss!!!! CARDANNNNNNNNNNN

FINALLY A BOOKTUBER TALKING ABOUT ONE PIECE! It’s my favorite anime and my favorite manga! The plot line is so well structured and whenever you move forward you’re gonna be like “oh wait...” because it’s all connected and it’s SO FASCINATING! You’ll meet new main characters and new villains (who are obviously important too) and you will love some and hate some too It’s so good, i highly recommend watching the anime (because the voice actors hello?!?) and reading the manga too Do both whenever you have the time to Omg was i too aggressive and did i talk a lot? Lol On a side note about the cruel prince: i actually loved it so much and still waiting for my copies(yes copies) of the wicked king lol

HA! I am totally trash for The Cruel Prince too! I knew going into it that there was a huge dividing line between love and hate where the readers were concerned. It’s taken me a bit to process it, and I read it about the same time you did... right before Wicked King came out. Since the sequel I’m complete trash for this book/series even more. OMG! That second book tied me up in knots. I’m a little obsessed!

I wasn’t sure if I liked the cruel prince when I first read it but after I finished it and read the wicked king I realized how much I love the world that Holly Black created! I’m also not a big fan of faeries but after reading Sarah J. Maas’s books they are starting to grow on me and I love them!

Katie P Not at all! The faeries in ACOTAR are barely fairies! I love the ACOTAR series but I don’t think Sarah J Maas used any faerie lore AT ALL to write that series. The Cruel Prince is more traditional faeries especially since Holly Black is known as the “Faerie Queen” of YA. She has been writing Faerie stories for a long time and uses actual Faerie history and such.
It’s so cool to hear you’re getting into one piece! Though I must warn you if you think the dog’s story is sad... it gets sadder. A lot. But it’s still a super fun story! Hope you enjoy reading it!
i haven't read the manga but i absolutely love the anime, some parts drag on for too long and i know it has to be like that lol but just the friendship and adventures and fights and ESPECIALLY HUMOR!!! make my heart so warm... the voice actress for luffy (yes, an older lady) is just hilarious, i haven't watched the dubbed version but i suggest the japanese version if you ever decide to watch more

I have watched and read One Piece, like really every episode and every volume and I love this anime/manga (it's my favourite) and i personaly prefer to watch it than to read it but because I want to know what happens right now (in the manga because the manga is like 30 chapters ahead or something like that) i read it but watching it is a little bit more fun because the reactions are "life" (and funnier) (but a problem when you are watching it is that some episodes can be filler you dont need and some parts in arcs are taking too long so it is a contra in comparison to the manga) And to all the people who havent done that yet DO IT IT, IS WORTH IT EVERY EPISODE AND EVERY CHAPTER (also it is a very creative and very interesting because the storyline isnt very hard to understand but all the side infornations you need to know to understand all the actual plot ...it is sometimes very mind blowing) (although i can understand that some people are scared because of the number of episodes and because its a manga and of course for some people mangas are for little children)
Used to only watch the anime until it got really draggy since it was catching up to the manga. I've since read the manga too, obviously not from the very start but from sometime during the Big Mom arc. I do wish they would halt the anime for maybe a year or so, so that the flow of anime episodes wouldn't be disrupted (e.g., prolonging a fight that could've ended earlier) due to their frantic efforts to stay at least an arc away from the manga.
Welcome to the Cruel Prince Trash Club, my friend! This book was my biggest surprise of 2018, I didn't think I was going to like it and it blew me away. I will say, that a lot of the foreshadowing is easy to is because you're so busy trying to get to what happens. I cannot wait to see The Wicked King blow your mind! P.S. For the One Piece thing, I've finished neither, but I found I preferred the manga to the anime.
Finished The Cruel Prince yesterday and I was on the fence on if I liked it, but that second half had me on the edge of my seat. I’m total trash for it. Now trying to decide if I want to read The Wicked King or wait till next year when the next book comes out.

I guess The Cruel Prince could be considered the most hyped book of 2018 but there is also Kingdom of Ash. Hate pool for me and The Cruel Prince; I didn't finish it at page 100 and something. I just didn't care about the main character and there wasn't enough world building to keep me interested.
I'm so glad you liked the Cruel Prince! I just finished the Wicked King...and I don't know what the point is until book 3 comes out. It SLAYED me. (I will say that book 2 is, in my opinion, structured better than book 1. Idk there was a lot more stuff going on and the characters have to get really involved with the court politics and stuff)
I am absolute trash for the cruel prince as well and I don’t even care. It was one of those books that when I was done I couldn’t stop thinking about it and then I re-read it again and I decided I just really loved it and that so many points of the story were improved with a re-read. I also just really appreciate terrible characters being terrible and unapologetic about it. And my love continued on into the wicked king which I feel like was paced and plotted much better than the cruel prince was!
I haven’t even heard much about The Cruel Prince yet, but I saw it at the library I volunteer at, and I was drawn by the cover. Now I might have to give it a try. Also for Christmas, I finally got the complete series of Cirque Du Freak which I have been searching for for years. It was such a good series but I couldn’t finish them because I couldn’t find them. I would recommend those books if you have time for a long series, but several of them are fairly short.

i got four books for Christmas. i have only read one of them and it was ace of shades by Amanda Foody and i LOVED IT i cant wait to read king of fools. also i love your videos jesse!

I wasn’t sure if I liked the cruel prince when I first read it but after I finished it and read the wicked king I realized how much I love the world that Holly Black created! I’m also not a big fan of faeries but after reading Sarah J. Maas’s books they are starting to grow on me and I love them!
So I started The Cruel Prince before it blew up on booktube (if that's possible), and it was a little confusing. Should I give it another chance?

@@crystalrainbow19 I have read ACOTAR as well as ToG actually. But I do know that the concept of the fae/faeries vary depending on the author's description, are these faeries the same or have a relation to Mass's fae?

Katie P Not at all! The faeries in ACOTAR are barely fairies! I love the ACOTAR series but I don’t think Sarah J Maas used any faerie lore AT ALL to write that series. The Cruel Prince is more traditional faeries especially since Holly Black is known as the “Faerie Queen” of YA. She has been writing Faerie stories for a long time and uses actual Faerie history and such.

i haven't read the manga but i absolutely love the anime, some parts drag on for too long and i know it has to be like that lol but just the friendship and adventures and fights and ESPECIALLY HUMOR!!! make my heart so warm... the voice actress for luffy (yes, an older lady) is just hilarious, i haven't watched the dubbed version but i suggest the japanese version if you ever decide to watch more
I’m so deep into The Cruel Prince love pool. I’m already halfway through The Wicked King, and have to hold myself back from finishing it in one sitting because I desperately don’t want it to end!
Oh my gosh!! I'm freaking love One Piece!! Currently binge watching the anime though, haven't read the manga. Loved watching you talk about it though! :)
I have watched and read One Piece, like really every episode and every volume and I love this anime/manga (it's my favourite) and i personaly prefer to watch it than to read it but because I want to know what happens right now (in the manga because the manga is like 30 chapters ahead or something like that) i read it but watching it is a little bit more fun because the reactions are "life" (and funnier) (but a problem when you are watching it is that some episodes can be filler you dont need and some parts in arcs are taking too long so it is a contra in comparison to the manga)
And to all the people who havent done that yet DO IT IT, IS WORTH IT EVERY EPISODE AND EVERY CHAPTER (also it is a very creative and very interesting because the storyline isnt very hard to understand but all the side infornations you need to know to understand all the actual plot ...it is sometimes very mind blowing) (although i can understand that some people are scared because of the number of episodes and because its a manga and of course for some people mangas are for little children)

Used to only watch the anime until it got really draggy since it was catching up to the manga. I've since read the manga too, obviously not from the very start but from sometime during the Big Mom arc.
I do wish they would halt the anime for maybe a year or so, so that the flow of anime episodes wouldn't be disrupted (e.g., prolonging a fight that could've ended earlier) due to their frantic efforts to stay at least an arc away from the manga.

Welcome to the Cruel Prince Trash Club, my friend! This book was my biggest surprise of 2018, I didn't think I was going to like it and it blew me away. I will say, that a lot of the foreshadowing is easy to is because you're so busy trying to get to what happens. I cannot wait to see The Wicked King blow your mind!
P.S. For the One Piece thing, I've finished neither, but I found I preferred the manga to the anime.
Finished The Cruel Prince yesterday and I was on the fence on if I liked it, but that second half had me on the edge of my seat. I’m total trash for it. Now trying to decide if I want to read The Wicked King or wait till next year when the next book comes out.
I can't stress this enough READ BLEACH!!!!!!! THE FIGHT SCENES ARE THE BEST !! TITE KUBO HAS ONE OF THE BEST DRAWING STYLES AND THE MANGA IS JUST SOOOOOOO GOOOOOOODDDD

I guess The Cruel Prince could be considered the most hyped book of 2018 but there is also Kingdom of Ash. Hate pool for me and The Cruel Prince; I didn't finish it at page 100 and something. I just didn't care about the main character and there wasn't enough world building to keep me interested.

I'm so glad you liked the Cruel Prince! I just finished the Wicked King...and I don't know what the point is until book 3 comes out. It SLAYED me.
(I will say that book 2 is, in my opinion, structured better than book 1. Idk there was a lot more stuff going on and the characters have to get really involved with the court politics and stuff)
I am also trash for the Cruel Prince as well, looking forward to getting my hands on the 3rd book
I am absolute trash for the cruel prince as well and I don’t even care. It was one of those books that when I was done I couldn’t stop thinking about it and then I re-read it again and I decided I just really loved it and that so many points of the story were improved with a re-read. I also just really appreciate terrible characters being terrible and unapologetic about it. And my love continued on into the wicked king which I feel like was paced and plotted much better than the cruel prince was!
I haven’t even heard much about The Cruel Prince yet, but I saw it at the library I volunteer at, and I was drawn by the cover. Now I might have to give it a try.
Also for Christmas, I finally got the complete series of Cirque Du Freak which I have been searching for for years. It was such a good series but I couldn’t finish them because I couldn’t find them. I would recommend those books if you have time for a long series, but several of them are fairly short.
Most of the time we have very different reading taste but I can't miss your vids just for the mad editing skills 🤩

awesome list Jesse, The Cruel Prince ..hmm don't know what to say about this one lol but i gotta say I did have some fun time while reading Kindom of Ash..also used Bookly app to track my reading and helped me a lot on being consistent (since i'm quite a lazy person nowadays)
