I love an excellent fish sandwich so I get the fish/buttered bread...but not grilled. But they’d all hate my order. Fried haddock, chips, w/tartar sauce & dunk the chips in the tartar as well. Light vinegar. A nice crisp coleslaw on the side. No peas. And I love pickles, but not on my fish order.

2 pieces of battered flake (gummy shark), 2 fried dim sims, minimum chips, 2 potato cakes and 2 battered scallops with the roe still attached! Perfect meal for 2 in Australia! Firstly, Chloe is super pretty!! Now, Brits are very blessed in the sense that they are spoiled for choice when it comes to fresh fish n chips, the Brits still hand cut fresh potato's daily and use hand selected fresh fish from the local fish markets, not to metion they have home made potato scollops.
I get steamed fish and salad and mushy peas from my fish and chip shop lol 😂 I don’t like batter or chips so luckily my shop does that for me

Man, I’ve clearly been doing it wrong after watching this video. I literally get fish (battered obv) & chips, apart from some salt, vinegar and ketchup it never occurs to me to get anything else. I’m so cheap and fish & chips so expensive now I only get it during lunch special hours. These people are spending huge money for what is meant to be cheap eats

It’s so bizarre to me that Fish and Chips and Japanese tempura both have their origins in Sephardic Jews bringing them to each country respectively. Fried fish is the traditional dish of both island countries on opposite ends of Eurasia.

The pickle cuts the grease. Same reason you put sliced pickles on fried chicken sandwiches or get pickled radish w Korean fried chicken. Acid to counter the fat/salt. It’s smart!
