    I saw a tip in another video and it seems very important. I tried it and it made so much sense and it’s this. Don’t try and exhale all your breadth in the water as this will exhaust you and you don’t do this in normal situations. Try it.. sit down and breath in normally and then force all your breath out. Do this a few times and you will realise how abnormal it is. It’s the same in the water.

    Breathing properly is my biggest challenge while swimming and has made me almost give up on mastering freestyle swimming. This video was very clear and motivating --as well as funny🤣

      Have you tried a pull buoy? It helped me a great deal to coordinate stroke and breathe. They tend to keep your lower half a bit higher in the water, so you might drink the pool a couple of times as you build arm strength and coordination.

    I started swim learning at the age of 36. I learn floating, kicking and arm movement in 3 days. But I am struggling to take breath. I stand up in water after every 15 metre to take breath and then start again. Whenever I open my mouth for breath lot of water enter my mouth and nose. Now hopefully I will master breathing also.
    Thanks for making this video.

      Try this: swim a length of the pool breast stroke, to get into the rhythm of the workout… then switch to front crawl. I’d never done breast stroke before but I tried this and it worked quite well.

    If you have panic or it is difficult for you to hold your breath for 2 or 3 strokes, it can be helpful for you to pratice a breathing pattern before starting to swim. Then when your head is underwater you just focus on your preset rhythm. It relaxes and assures you that you actually can hold your breath so much longer.
    Until winter 2021 I had major panic issues whenever I turned my head underwater and kept choking. This is what helped me the most to overcome my fear. Now I swim 3 times a week and it is really fun.

I had the hardest time breathing, no structure, blowing air out through my mouth and the gasping for air when I turned my head to the side…I totally forgot how to breathe correctly! Thank goodness for your video, I’m going swimming tomorrow, now I remember my training as a kid. Whew!

    Joseph, I love your humor! It really helps me to remember what you are teaching. I am a motorcycle and bicycle instructor and that works there as well. My freestyle technique is improving but I'm struggling with breathing in that I feel like I won't get that next breath so I feel a panic. I can snorkel all day with no issues but sustained breathing for multiple laps is not good. I am an avid cyclist so my cardio is good.

    After turning to breath, do you close your mouth before entering the water? I am a beginner and am having trouble taking in water in my mouth while breathing in and turning back.
    I have seen some videos of swimmers not closing they mouth while turning their head back in the water, and it seems quite natural to them, but not for me :(

    • @Swimtopian
      @Swimtopian  2 роки тому +9

      Practice open your mouth in the water. You will be surprised the water doesn't get into your mouth as there is air inside your mouth that prevents it.
      So when I turn I will open my mouth and when I put my head back into the water I can either open or close my mouth. Doesn't affect me.
      You can try practice that

      @@Swimtopian I actually practiced that this morning, and had a similar experience and I realized that I struggle probably when I'm taking a breath in, and a part of my mouth is still in the water (and I end up taking some water along with the air as well). What I do is breath out the remaining air with my mouth as it exits the water, and when you feel that the breath is coming out freely that means your mouth is out of the water, and also you will get our any water that got into your mouth.

    I am 58 and learning.
    I have strength but no stamina. I can complete breadth of the pool but not the length 😢
    I can swim freestyle ( with lots of errors ) and a very shoddy breaststroke I learnt on my own 😂
    Thanks for these videos..shall try and improve my style ❤

      58 also, and just started back about 2 months ago. I just thought that I knew back then but have learned so much this time. Keep swimming and God bless.

    What should we practice first . To learn how to breath or to learn how th rotate while pull and catching ??

    • @Swimtopian
      @Swimtopian  7 місяців тому

      For me breathing first. Once you are able to swim a short distance like 10m - 15m then you can learn to fine tune your stroke by concentrating on rotation and pulling
