Cole and Marmalade I have the same dragonfly pillow in green! 😂 And my Neo is jet black like Cole with amber eyes. He adopted us three weeks ago. Most amazing cat ever!

i do not understand keeping your cat from interacting with nature. i have cats that never come inside, some that never go out, some that come in every night. if you get the vaccinations they will be fine. mine are now 12 to 16 years old and ones that have died were from things like seizures, urinary tract, organ failure, stroke, and extreme old age. they have all had a wonderful life.

This was a good enclosed porch for them to come outdoors, but it needs "trees" for them to climb & a perch for them to just chill on.

Maybe a "raised bed" to grow cat grass & cat nip. A 1×2 ledge to run 1/4 of the way down from the ceiling around the room...

My cat was a stray that kept sneaking inside and hissing at me if I tried to put her back outside. I just gave up and she's my cat now. She's still afraid of the outside.

My parents call that a "screened porch." And sometimes, their cats let them use it. LoL
I grew up in North Carolina, and we, too, called it a screened porch. When I moved to Florida, I was told it was a "Florida room."

I have 4 indoor cats and I had a catio built for them last year. Best money I ever spent! They go in it all year round. Even when it’s snowing. I love your kitties reactions

Of course they aren't thinking in words or exactly the same as humans. That doesn't mean they can't have complex thoughts similar to humans and other mammals though.
@@XxHitmanAssassinxX cats are about half as intelligent as the average primate. They think in spurts and reactions, not "thoughts", similar to that of a 6-8 month old human. Superior to dogs, I may add, which we simply think are intelligent as a perception. Dogs are pack animals and reaction to action/reward.

I installed a cat door in my kitchen door that opens up to an enclosed porch - half windows, half screens. My two cats love it! They go in and out, even in the winter. They have three cat trees, porch furniture, and, of course, litter boxes. They love sitting out there when there are spring/summer storms, getting a whiff of all the scents of nature, from as safe a place as possible. They are house cats. They never go out. So they are happy on their big screened-in porch.

I use fencing, not chicken wire, but the other coated wire to screen in my outdoor porches. I think I got it at Home Depot. It's about 4 feet wide and 50 feet long. It usually takes 2 rolls at around $50-$60 each. I have never had a problem. It even survived Hurricane Michael's eye. If I have kittens I also add the plastic netting at the bottom half. I also do my doors with the wire fencing. It is just a relief to me to have the added security for my babies.

Kitties are cautious about new situations.
But when the time actually comes and you realise your not really outside but still inside...
My cat spent years trying to make it out of open doors until one day she succeeded and absolutely froze about 5 feet from the door. She just stood there all wide eyed looking around until I grabber her up and put back inside. lol
Cats: "Oh, wow, this catio is great!"
Ten Minutes Later: "We want to go play in the yard."
Because they don’t understand what is best for them.

grai no it’s isn’t. It’s looking out for our babies when they can’t understand the kinds of dangers that lie outside for them. You can’t teach animals to watch out for cars or not to drink poison that an evil person puts out for them. The love of a parent is not narcissistic.

The best feeling when you can make a cat or any animal happy. Must have been so exciting just building it knowing the joy you would bring to them.
ULTRA SaVaGe it is seriously a heartwarming feeling. ❤️When my bunny was a baby, he had to be put in a pen at night because I didn’t want him doing naughty things in my room while I slept. He always thumped and spooked, night after night...so, one night I opened the door to his pen to calm him, and he came out, jumped on the bed, and fell asleep on my leg happily chattering his teeth. My heart broke, but I also realized that I could trust him even at night. He just wanted to sleep with me. He always does, too. He’s like a little dog when he isn’t flying around at 2:00am.😂 and he’s been I infinitely happier since I stopped containing him.

I used to have a favorite coloring of cats (calicos). Now I try to appreciate all colors and markings of cats. I pick cats by personality now. My current girl is a tabby. She is smart and sassy and endearingly bossy.

@@samohanka I believe my cat was not from a breeder. We got him cuz he has a mouth problem, causing him to not gain any weight barely. We take in cats with problems because no one else adopts them

I did the same to my back porch. But because there were critters hanging out under it, I ran screening across the planks [underneath] between the joists to keep pests/bugs from getting into the porch area. Alittle overkill perhaps, but more peace-of-mind for the kiddos.
I have a pal in Scotland, she calls her catio "Al-cat-traz" lol. It's really wonderful to see how the kitties reacted to the catio you made.

Congrats on a million subs! Also pay no mind to those who have an issue with keeping your pets secured on your property. It keeps them and the wildlife they'll inadvertently hunt if let out to roam, safe. The native critters already have enough to deal with and don't need our beloved pets harrassing them too.
HECK YES! When I rescued my 2 kittehs in 2005, I had to sign a form saying I would NOT let them out....I'm in SW Florida ... there are SO many dangers to kittehs out and about: snakes, hawks, owls, bufo toads....my cat goes on our screened in lanai.

Awww....you should put some grass (in a container) on the floor. It's good for their digestion and cats love to lay in grass

My kitty loves chewing on grass, but refuses to lay in it or even walk on it!! I set him in grass a few times and he always looks offended, Haha. He's a desert cat!
Just talk to your vet if they perpetually hork the grass up like one of mine do. She's a special one. 🙄

Have to keep mine inside also. They are curious but have accepted staying inside.
Check out "Evan and Katelyn" they made a catio for a window. It still closes for weather AND it has a roof with overhang for rain. I think they may have built it from a kit.

I have an enclosed porch too for my kitties. My ginger always wants to go in yard. Got to keep a sharp i on him cause he’s quick & sneaky. I know that they are safe & can enjoy being outside.

Cole didn’t even hesitate. Even if you have a cat, that is an indoor only cat it’s always nice to find a way to give them some form of outdoor space. Not only is it rather adorable to see the reactions and such. But it’s also good for them.
It allows your cats to get proper fresh air and sun. But at the same time it’s still allows you to have them in a safe area where they can be looked after. I unfortunately don’t live in a spot where I can do this.

We enclosed our side porch for our cats, and it was the best decision ever. It has everything the cats love, and they even let us put a small chair for us to enjoy their space, too. Glad C&M, and J&Z have their place 😻
I really love that Jugg and Zig have the combination colors of their Big Brothers 💖
You can take them on walks too. I take my two on walks and they love it . I think they would still rather be completely free to roam but at least the walks allow them to explore the outdoors safely.
I added some 6" wide cat walks around my screened in porch. My cats loved them

I am fortunate that my cats stay in my yard or my neighbors yard. They stay mostly on my property and on the patio. Never had a problem.
