@@jj2059 yes its about 5 ish hours on average to beat it from what ive seen, of course you can make that time quicker or longer depending on how you play and what all you want to accomplish. But with the randomly generated map each playthrough is unique and you could easily enjoy several playthroughs before getting tired of it, extending your playtime many times over.

I downloaded this past sunday and played with a friend on co-op all afternoon until we finished it. It might take around 5 hours on your first playthrough, but replayability is really where this game shines. Totally love it, 10/10
Oh hey, I've already found out that the composer (Danny Baranowsky) behind this indie game was the same one who made music for Steambirds which I've enjoyed playing on Newgrounds and Armor Games back as a kid. So surprising and amazing.

I will say that I played it on the Xbox, and within the first few levels my muscle memory from back when I was a child playing the PS1 kicked in and I realized it controls exactly the same as the original. I would be baffled if the Switch version was really any different from the Xbox One or PS4 versions, at this point the Switch has basically the same button layout any other system does. I think its safe to trust other reviews already out on the remaster for this game in particular, though I will also add that as someone whose first console game was the first Spyro I am not preordering in case some major screwup happens andIwill wait at least a few days though I definitively plan on getting it. It is a great game I definitely recommend it.
It was a good game. Great music, as expected. I think that the structure made it inherently easier than the first, but I'm still not sure whether that was to its detriment or its benefit.
i noticed that too, as a person that has beat both Crypt and Cadence. Id say its to its benefit though, crypt of the necrodancer is more of a classic roguelike where your goal is to get as deep as possible and overcome hard challenges, but Cadence is more like an adventure and i think having lesser challenge helped it not feel too hard to beat and really gave me a sense of progression vs how crypt made me feel. but at the same time nothing can beat the euphoria of finally beating the final boss in crypt.

@@seansimonalle8896 yeah i did the same, me and my brother beat cadence in a sizeable amount of hours, while crypt took me playing it on and off for about a year to beat, but this new game was a very fun adventure and it was so zelda-like that it scratched that 2d zelda itch that ive been having for a little while. i think both games are great and neither of them should be held above the other

I personally like when a game designed for multiple playthroughs is short. If the base game is too long, I'd be too burned out to play the game a second time at least for awhile.

I found that playing through, the items that I used the most were bombs, arrows, goron bracelet, fire items, the rod that summons blocks, the boomerang to collect distant items, and the hookshot. The drum can also be really good for combat given it increased damage on the next turn
When the note said "Something you can farm" I almost lost my shit thinking it could be the new Animal Crossing. Stupid thought but my heart jumped for a moment.
Some of the bosses felt too easy to me, like they were defeated before I got a chance to enjoy their theme songs. Especially Gleeockenspiel. Best theme, shortest battle.
I don't even own a switch, but still watch this channel, as it is genuinely entertaining and refreshing to see someone genuinely passionate about games, while still being so positive and enthusiastic.
It's pretty tight how you can appreciate a game that may not entirely be for you! Not many youtubers/game reviewers are able to seperate that fact. As someone who really likes games that allow a lot of freedom and meaty goodness, I'm glad you were able to bring up this games good points effectively

The roguelike term is absolutely suitable. Not only the dungeons, but the entire world map is randomized each time you start a new game. It's what makes speedrunning a bit more interesting because there's always a searching aspect to the runs. Add to that really clever item usage (every dungeon has some skips if you're ingenious enough) and this is a really cool speedrunning game. I will say though that not using Zelda is a bit ridiculous considering how insanely broken Nayru's Love is, you can reflect every attack with it.
Please play and do a review of Bayonetta!! As a bayo fan, I'm devastated that there was no news at E3. So a vid on it would be amazing! The game is great and has a very good soundtrack
He's said before that Bayonetta really isn't his cup of tea. Which is a shame, cuz it has that old school gaminess about it that I think he'd really like.
I used to close my eyes and play back the rhythm whenever I played Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside story in the hammering orbs at Bowser's arm muscle, so I can't wait for this.
The turning point for me where I started enjoying the game was when I got a spear weapon that could attack to blocks ahead. Made everything so easier to handle
That box opening at the end was the best part, gotta love Nintendo. I own both stardew valley and overcooked. I love both of those games and im excited to see Arlos take on them.
The thing to remember with how the levels are designed is that it's "Crypt of the Necrodancer with a coat of Zelda paint", like Hyrule Warriors was. The dungeons have a zelda style and look to them, but are more closely akin to the design in Necrodancer, where the whole game was dungeons and there was no overworld.
9:50 -- When you said the scissors were for hair, I was expecting a different kind of joke, like "I'm covered in hair and they were still hard to use."
I played through this game once, and it was pretty darn fun! I basically played as Zelda through the whole game since my world layout kinda sucked a bit and I didn't actually find Link or unlock Cadence until I'd already beaten 3 bosses and cleared 80% of the map. I also never unlocked Yves because I missed the bombable wall in the Lost Woods that had like 8 Deku scrubs in it until I'd already beaten the game. Whoops. I usually stuck to using spears since that extra tile of range made things way easier, especially the obsidian spear because I was usually pretty good at staying on beat and keeping up that triple damage combo. Except for Gleeokenspiel, I used an emerald flail after several attempts with a spear since I kept getting overwhelmed with trying to get in front of a head for the hit and then out of the way before he blasted lightning, and with the poison damage it still dealt 3 points, just spread over several turns. My strategy was basically hit and run, quickly poison 2 heads and then dodge lightning until the poison wears off, repeat til he's dead.
Ok, with that kind of package, someone at Nintendo must personally watch this channel

I used to close my eyes and play back the rhythm whenever I played Mario and Luigi Bowser's Inside story in the hammering orbs at Bowser's arm muscle, so I can't wait for this.

The turning point for me where I started enjoying the game was when I got a spear weapon that could attack to blocks ahead. Made everything so easier to handle

Can confirm that Stardew Valley is addictive. I have 60 hours on the PC version and around 80 on the switch version. Be very very careful Arlo :)
That box opening at the end was the best part, gotta love Nintendo. I own both stardew valley and overcooked. I love both of those games and im excited to see Arlos take on them.

The thing to remember with how the levels are designed is that it's "Crypt of the Necrodancer with a coat of Zelda paint", like Hyrule Warriors was. The dungeons have a zelda style and look to them, but are more closely akin to the design in Necrodancer, where the whole game was dungeons and there was no overworld.
I had no Idea what this game was before this video, but this review makes me want the game.

I played through this game once, and it was pretty darn fun! I basically played as Zelda through the whole game since my world layout kinda sucked a bit and I didn't actually find Link or unlock Cadence until I'd already beaten 3 bosses and cleared 80% of the map. I also never unlocked Yves because I missed the bombable wall in the Lost Woods that had like 8 Deku scrubs in it until I'd already beaten the game. Whoops. I usually stuck to using spears since that extra tile of range made things way easier, especially the obsidian spear because I was usually pretty good at staying on beat and keeping up that triple damage combo. Except for Gleeokenspiel, I used an emerald flail after several attempts with a spear since I kept getting overwhelmed with trying to get in front of a head for the hit and then out of the way before he blasted lightning, and with the poison damage it still dealt 3 points, just spread over several turns. My strategy was basically hit and run, quickly poison 2 heads and then dodge lightning until the poison wears off, repeat til he's dead.
