I just had this video pop up on my UA-cam recommended. I thought it was very informative and very well put together! I got the platinum trophy back in June, I was the most recent person to get it (I'm the guy who did the entire game with a PS4 controller) and ever since i've been trying to encourage others to not be intimidated by the difficulty and to give it a try, because it's an incredible game and it really deserves more attention. Thanks for shedding light on what actually makes it so difficult. You earned a sub from me :)

Excellent video, there was a thread on r/trophies a couple weeks ago asking what the all time hardest platinum was, Diablo 2 Resurrected, Fortnite, ESO, Super Meat Boy, DMC5, and Wolfenstein 2 came up pretty often. But Crypt was the one brought up the most, and for good reason. It’s a plat I would never dream of going for and I know basically every other trophy hunter would agree.
Hi, YT just happened to recommend me this video today. I'd like to share a small piece of personal lore: Back in 2017 and 2018 I was studying abroad in the Netherlands and it was the time I managed to complete my Lowest of the Low run on Steam, after >3 months of persistence. By that same time Floriss (whose footage appears in this video and someone I was in touch with) was also grinding the run and managed to pull it off in a matter of days of difference. While chatting and sharing the hype he mentioned that he was Dutch, so I suggested to meet up and have a celebration beer. Which was something that happened the week after and I still keep it as a very special moment of my time abroad. Not many people will share a moment this specific with you and fully understand you. He was an extremely nice person and still one of the best toasts in my life :)
It's a pretty big coincidence that two people completed LotL only days apart, while also living so close near each other, and it's cool that you guys turned it into a memorable moment. Thanks for sharing
Hey Alex! That was such a lovely comment. I'm very glad that we had the opportunity to meet and celebrate in person, as I too found it to be a very special moment. It was nice being able to share the joy and struggle of NecroDancer, as well as talk other things related. Like you said yourself, I don't think there's many ocassions where you can find someone that will share a moment this specific with you and whom can fully understand you. It was a very unique experience. Some amazing conversations over great food and drinks. Not to mention you're a very humble and great person, so all together I enjoyed my time A LOT. Even though I haven't seen or spoken to you in quite a while (since we're both busy adults now), this post brought back great memories. And I just wanted to say that whatever you're pursuing in your life, knowing that I wish you all the best and with the right mindset and determination you can achieve anything. But you already know that ;)
I'm still stuck on the fourth stage with her, although I can easily deal with the first two levels of it. I think if I'm ever able to complete Aria I'll stop, this game is giving me arthritis and despair
Coming from someone who has Impossible Boy (the hardest Meat Boy iron man) Necrodancer is in a league of its own. Nothing even comes close. If SMB is a 10/10 in terms of difficulty than Necrodancer is a 20/10. Amazing breakdown video dude.
@@corpmobb4134 Uhh… no. More than half of the people that have the CotN plat also have the SMB plat. CotN tends to attract people from outside the rhythm game community due to it’s notoriety amongst trophy hunters.
Damn the smb platinum was horrible, it did make me appreciate the game more though, the complexity of some levels was really interesting and I found out so much about the game like that the frames per second play a part in the speed of the game, god I will never do Crypt, NEVER
@@clivejoposh6138 Actually since making that comment I’ve started playing it and the game is honestly amazing and so much fun. I really highly recommend it if you have an interest in rhythm games. If you’re the type of trophy hunter that doesn’t want to mar their account then play it on PC or Switch, which is what I play it on. Someday if I feel confident enough I’ll start it up on PS4 but probably only if I can pull off an all characters run. Best I’ve managed so far is making it to the golden lute with Aria on a low % run. I still stand by my previous comment though. The game is balls to the wall hard.
This video popped up in my recommend, glad it did since I was thinking about going for the platinum but now I know that I have to prepare myself mentally before I attempt it 😂. Great video!
I speedran Melody for a bit, got just under 8 mins. She's such a fun character, I would just melt away and my fingers moved themselves... I'll get obsessed with the game again one day, I'm kind of busy having other hobbies which don't take 100s of hours... (Great video!!!)
I'm currently hunting this game on Steam, I am 105 hours in and popped my Achievement no. 18. At the moment I'm working on Aria, the challenge is unfathomable for most people haha but I'm a stubborn fella and I'll probably work on this for years! Thanks for the video :)
man, this looks like such a great game! i first heard about this beast of a plat from psnprofiles, & i thought "hey, i love a torturous challenge! all the more rewarding!" i dunno if i should challenge my vision with all of this flashing 😵💫 i'm so enchanted already, though! the concept alone is scintillating... i've always wanted an RPG with rhythm game combat mechanics. this is a wonderful video! thanks so much for making it ^_^
As someone who obtained the Platinum recently, I can say with ease that this video does a great job getting the point across. It's a huge challenge that demands a lot from the player. It may all seem overwhelming at first, but the satisfaction you get while playing and mastering the complex mechanics is worth it. I've had so much fun with the game and I don't regret starting it whatsoever. Coming back to this video now almost feels nostalgic and makes me feel even better about my achievement. I encourage everyone who watched this well put video to give the game a go.
This is the game I play on commutes to work. The ride is just long enough to do a run and the music is really awesome! And honestly there are enough challenges in this game for a lifetime :D After almost a year I beat Aria low% but idk how I will do the other characters. Trying Monk low% right now and the farthest I was is Zone 3. And I don't even know how to get started with Bolt, with how fast the game is with her it just makes me thumb hurt. Tried with joy cons, a ps4 knockoff controller, and on keyboard, it's too fast for me on either lol
Saw this video for the first time around November of 2022. The way you presented the Crypt and its ridiculous difficulty has inspired me to give it a try myself. I couldn't believe my ears when you were describing coda. I've been hooked ever since. The fast-paced gameplay and simple yet difficult to master enemy designs, it really kept me coming back, even if I just died to the final boss. It's the sort of game where a situation rarely feels out of your control and where every death is an opportunity to reflect. What could've you done better? I absolutely love the beat mechanic as well. A rhythm rogue-like is a unique combination I've never seen before and it's very well executed here. It even led me to try some other similar games like BPM: Bullets Per Minute and Metal Hellsinger, with which I've been having a blast. Needless to say, after around 300 hours of playtime, i managed to get my first coda clear in, and I'm well on my way to beat lowest of the low. Thank you, sincerely, for introducing me to my all time favorite game.
@@thatsagoodquestion5889 thanks, buddy! Highly recommend it, as long as you go about it with the right mindset, which is accepting that it's going to take forever, but it may be the best time you have with the game.
Same, Coda is seriously one of the most ridiculous challenges I've ever come across. It's crazy how even if you do end up beating it, you probably still have to grind for 100s of hours for the platinum
Good job man 👍 I have 495 platinum. Dmc1,2,3,4,5, Crash bandicoot 1,2,3,4, cart Re2,3,4,5,6 Max Payne 3. Dead space 1,2,3 Mirrors edge,1,2 and many many others.)
Watching this sort of thing honestly makes me glad I don't have the sort of personality that compels me to really care about achievements. I just could never do stuff like this. I don't have the fine motor control or nervous system to handle it. Trying might kill me.
i have 30+ plats. i tend to go for pretty difficult ones. bc i also tend to play rather difficult games. but i never go for absolutely mind bending ones. alot of rouge likes have very difficult trophies. like no hit. or no hit + timed. its insane.
after watching this video i decided to platinum this game after bought i play 20 hours in just 3 days and still playing i also watch too many guides tips and playtrogh. i hope i can platinum between 600-1000 hours if i ever complete this challenge ill come back here and say i did it.
Oh boy, this challenge sure does sound tough! It would totally suck if a DLC was released for it that added _another zone_ and _four more characters_ and removed previous options like the phasing ring. That would really be terrible, wouldn't it 😭😭
Doom for PlayStation had an update where several things got much harder, specifically Pinkeys being insanely buffed. The run is considered almost impossible on Nightmare and only like 3 people have gotten the platinum since the update. Vourdex was the most recent and he has some videos on his channel showing the insanity of Nightmare difficulty after the update.
When I was younger I'd loved to sink my time into these kind of ultrahard games. Now I just don't have the time, but I still complete as much as I can.
The Fortnite achievements are for the Save The World mode, which is the original mode released before Battle Royale. BR doesn’t have any achievements. Even though it is still time consuming to do those missions.
Omg it's the dancer one... I am not a one who easily set astray from his goal... But the moment I laid my hands on this game, despair sunk to my heart. Didn't want to bother with it cuz I know I will love it and I will try to perfect it... Even though it's nearly impossible...
Crypt was able to make games like Super Meat Boy, CupHead and Hollow Knight look like the My Name is Mayo trilogy If you ask me that's a trophy in of itself
We have unlocked 4D chest. Also, this game reminds me of The Enchanted Cave games, but at least the enemies in that game are usually stationary and there’s no beat to constantly follow.
Very well done video! Very much appreciated since you saved me from playing this game on my vita lol now I know to play cadence of hyrule on the switch instead!
Man, i have Necrodancer on PC, and to this day, i still haven’t completed this game ONCE. I’m no stranger to roguelikes, but the only one i have ever been able to beat reliably is Binding of Isaac. It is quite interesting seeing such a hard trophy tied to a game like this, but i’m not surprised. I would highly recommend anyone to play Necrodancer at some point, especially if you have custom music on your PC. It’s hard, but it is certainly an experience like no other!
350 bpm is an absolute nightmare by itself. I play Project Diva on standard game pads and even 250 bpm is a bitch to keep up with. I can't even imagine how bad the self induced arthritis would be after that.
I think "Brace Yourself Games" is taking their namesake a bit to literally. Jesus Christ. This game is really cool but they really, REALLY didn't have to do all of this.
EDIT: Just one small complaint about the video. When you said Coda isn't possible with a controller, that's wrong. I myself use a controller for Coda, and almost all of my deaths come from either enemies or gold drops. The only exception to this is Death Metal, but I've been able to beat him as Coda. Other than that, great video :) Man you gotta get your latency calibration fixed before you make Necrodancer videos XD Jokes aside, great video. I found this in my UA-cam recommended, and everything you said is true. I have Coda unlocked with a PS4 controller, and she is already harder than the entirety of Super Meat Boy's platinum trophy. Keep up the great content, I subbed!
Thanks for compliments! I just worded that Coda part poorly, I said it wasn't 'doable' to complete Coda with a controller but i meant that it just wasnt very practical, not impossible. a bit later I mention that someone had completed Coda with a controller as well. Also I have no idea what you mean by latency calibration hahah I only played crypt for a short time so I never touched the settings
@@xArchivist It's all good, this was still one of the most informative videos I saw about Necrodancer's absurd difficulty. (gameranx just skimmed over Lowest of the Low) As for Latency Calibration, you can adjust the delay of the audio and video to compensate for hardware delays. I saw that you were missing a lot of beats as Cadence, so if you ever pick up Necrodancer again, you can adjust your latency settings to make it easier to stay on-beat :)
I got 100% completion on this game on steam but man Aria and Monk are pain to play to get this achievement It took me 563 hours to beat game 100%, that is many days of grinding (not counting total time played then total time would be 787 hours, i haven't touched this game for 2 years now but after seeing this video it was like PTSD reaction to remember that grind) Ou and fuk Coda
Similar but less hard than this trophy; the game Soundfall which is also a rhythm style dungeon crawler requires you to complete each of the over 100 levels on the hardest difficulty without missing a beat and without ever losing your streak (which happens when you take any damage).
I've played this game for a couple years(?) on my switch, and I remember being like "man this game is kinda hard I can't seem to beat all the characters' all-zone runs"..... I thought I was just bad
Seeing the footage at the start featuring the Cadence with the obsidian broadsword at full power (3 damage) completely ignore the crate (takes a bomb or a 3+ damage attack to break, contains good loot, could have been broken by A- laying one of the two owned bombs B- attacking it C- pushing it up onto the spike trap D- pushing it over to the bomb trap... but nooo, it was just LEFT THERE) hurt me deeply...
where you have to beat the game (around 300 screens) without dying. But the way you described the Coda character, even to someone with no previous knowledge of the game, is just… wow
Coda clearer here. Yes coda is completely utterly brutal the coda run alone was 12 minutes but it took me 900 hours to clear the character and shockingly this is on the low end of things most people don't clear coda till the thousands. The double tempo is the hardest aspect by far. If you can do the tempo everything else is significantly easier. Zone 1 is easily the hardest zone on coda taking about 80% of runs simply due to lack of gear and monkeys / bats. If you can clear coda you can do all char low%. All char low% is easier then coda its just a miserable run. There's a reason coda is by far more fun then all char.

After about 1700 hous of playing crypt, I beat an all zones run with coda, and I have a switch, so I couldn't use a keyboard/mouse
Damn dude
you have carpal tunnel. no question
and i am a 🥔
Hi, YT just happened to recommend me this video today. I'd like to share a small piece of personal lore:
Back in 2017 and 2018 I was studying abroad in the Netherlands and it was the time I managed to complete my Lowest of the Low run on Steam, after >3 months of persistence.
But you already know that ;)
Just reading these 2 comments is an interesting experience.
This is so wholesome.
After reading this no one will ever convince me that life is just a pure coincidence, NEVER
I’ve simply beaten the Golden Lute with Aria in a single zone mode and I consider that to be my greatest gaming achievement of all time.
Same bro, to us peasants Aria alone is an evererst unto itself.
I'm still stuck on the fourth stage with her, although I can easily deal with the first two levels of it. I think if I'm ever able to complete Aria I'll stop, this game is giving me arthritis and despair
The fact some people even have this trophy..makes me question if any of them cheated. I wouldn’t even blame them lol.
Coming from someone who has Impossible Boy (the hardest Meat Boy iron man) Necrodancer is in a league of its own. Nothing even comes close. If SMB is a 10/10 in terms of difficulty than Necrodancer is a 20/10. Amazing breakdown video dude.
Crypt trophy earners couldn't even do smb
I just watched the cod video it brought up some great memories. Stay on this man, I want to see your channel grow!
:)
This video popped up in my recommend, glad it did since I was thinking about going for the platinum but now I know that I have to prepare myself mentally before I attempt it 😂. Great video!
Thanks man! Best of luck to you if you ever go for it hahah
I speedran Melody for a bit, got just under 8 mins. She's such a fun character, I would just melt away and my fingers moved themselves... I'll get obsessed with the game again one day, I'm kind of busy having other hobbies which don't take 100s of hours...
(Great video!!!)
This is insanity. Imagine being the first to get the platinum. Great video.
Truly a masochistic and insane challenge. Your ears and brain really need to be put to the test for this platinum trophy.
Saw my brother grinding a Coda run. I have no clue if he's one of those 10 people having the achievement.
Edit: no.
Probably not
@@8strate8 yeah I don't think so either, but I'm gonna ask him anyway
@@ultralowspekken any update?
Do he ever get it ?
Not. :C
I'm currently hunting this game on Steam, I am 105 hours in and popped my Achievement no. 18. At the moment I'm working on Aria, the challenge is unfathomable for most people haha but I'm a stubborn fella and I'll probably work on this for years! Thanks for the video :)
man, this looks like such a great game! i first heard about this beast of a plat from psnprofiles, & i thought "hey, i love a torturous challenge! all the more rewarding!"
i dunno if i should challenge my vision with all of this flashing 😵💫 i'm so enchanted already, though! the concept alone is scintillating... i've always wanted an RPG with rhythm game combat mechanics.
this is a wonderful video! thanks so much for making it ^_^
You can turn off the flashing floor lights in settings.
And honestly there are enough challenges in this game for a lifetime :D
After almost a year I beat Aria low% but idk how I will do the other characters.
It's cool to hear you found your favourite game from my video. Good luck on lowest of the low as well, let me know if you end up beating it!
After 300 hours??? I'm at 600 and I've only made it to 3-3 lol
Good work! Would never have realized this was a first video.
This really made me feel better about my chances of actually getting the Hollow Knight platinum trophy.
Edit: GOT IT!
The madman did it
congratulations! maybe I should try getting it too
@@thatsagoodquestion5889 thanks, buddy! Highly recommend it, as long as you go about it with the right mindset, which is accepting that it's going to take forever, but it may be the best time you have with the game.
I've resigned myself to never even unlocking Coda, let alone winning with them
Same, Coda is seriously one of the most ridiculous challenges I've ever come across. It's crazy how even if you do end up beating it, you probably still have to grind for 100s of hours for the platinum
Good job man 👍
I have 495 platinum.
Dmc1,2,3,4,5,
Crash bandicoot 1,2,3,4, cart
Re2,3,4,5,6
Max Payne 3.
Dead space 1,2,3
Mirrors edge,1,2
and many many others.)
hope in the future sony will let us arrange our games in order + delete games even if we have trophies on them
Even if very difficult, this game is really good! Thanks for talking about it!
I've been hunting for 4 years and I still have no idea how anyone can do this
I don't know anything about the game but I absolutely loved this video! Looking forward to what you post next
:) hope you like the next video
I knew that the necrodancer platinum was really hard but this is just insane
That would really be terrible, wouldn't it 😭😭
You can turn the dlc off for the coda and lowest of the low stuff
Just thinking about trying to get that platinum trophy is making my head hurt
I got stressed just by watching this
I wouldn't mind seeing more videos like this going over some of the harder platinums still currently obtainable.
This is my favorite video fr fr
Man what a great video, definitely going to suss out your other content
:)
every time I think it’s done there’s ANOTHER trophy
Well done on this mammoth task
Saw your iReapZz video first but man you're videos both are fantastic. Keep up the good work and you'll blow tf up.
HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU ONLY HAVE 3K SUBS...this video was excellent!
:)
good vid! playing this game even casually looks an anxiety inducing nightmare
When your favorite game has the most difficult platinum to earn
I've got many 0.1 - 1% trophies but there ain't no way in hell I'm going near this! Great video mate.
So crazy, what an evil mix of things to think about.. the double speed part gave me a bit of anxiety XD
Which doom game?
@@xArchivist original 1993 one for $4.99. It might also have come with doom eternal.
@@xArchivist ua-cam.com/video/T5QnAKmsw2M/v-deo.html this shows the difference
As a huge fan of the binding of isaac and spelunky, I see this as a challenge of blood and gore, my favorite ones.
This just popped up in my reccomended. Good timing, too, since a new DLC for the game just came out :D
When I was younger I'd loved to sink my time into these kind of ultrahard games.
Now I just don't have the time, but I still complete as much as I can.
This distracted me from my depression so I must subscribe.
Def make more videos about trophy hunting this was amazing
You earned yourself a new sub! Congrats. Great video!
:)
Imagine the Platinum that to get It you need to collect every Platinum from every game.
and here I always thought I was trash for finding this game ridiculously hard
i was like oh you are going for it?
The Fortnite achievements are for the Save The World mode, which is the original mode released before Battle Royale.
BR doesn’t have any achievements. Even though it is still time consuming to do those missions.
Omg it's the dancer one... I am not a one who easily set astray from his goal... But the moment I laid my hands on this game, despair sunk to my heart. Didn't want to bother with it cuz I know I will love it and I will try to perfect it...
Even though it's nearly impossible...
Is the last music in this video from Donkey Kong Country 2? That's awesome taste.
Yeah! It's aquatic ambience
Oh, so it's from the first one. Whole trilogy has a remarkable soundtrack. Immediately knew it's from one of those great games.
Holy Molly, I get PTSD when i saw Monk. Took me literally 2 months to win.
Can't wait for the character "Segno" who dies whenever you look at the screen.
Crypt was able to make games like Super Meat Boy, CupHead and Hollow Knight look like the My Name is Mayo trilogy If you ask me that's a trophy in of itself
Yeah okay... I wouldn't go that far lmao.
@@tomgu2285 opinions can change in almost a year so your not wrong
This is your first vid?! New sub here this stuff is amazing 😁
I wish I could freeze time and platinize all the difficult games 🤩
Lol 😂 You time will be unstable.
Sounds like a challenge am willing to take
You sir..just made me watch a 15 min vid without skipping...
Other than that, great video :)
Man you gotta get your latency calibration fixed before you make Necrodancer videos XD
Jokes aside, great video.
(gameranx just skimmed over Lowest of the Low)
As for Latency Calibration, you can adjust the delay of the audio and video to compensate for hardware delays. I saw that you were missing a lot of beats as Cadence, so if you ever pick up Necrodancer again, you can adjust your latency settings to make it easier to stay on-beat :)
This channel has a lot of potential
Roguelikes overall always have some ridiculous trophies(like binding of isaac's "dead god"achievement) but damn this one is...wow
I found this really interesting, ive seen it on the store but had no idea how serious the game is.
I got 100% completion on this game on steam but man
Aria and Monk are pain to play to get this achievement
It took me 563 hours to beat game 100%, that is many days of grinding (not counting total time played then total time would be 787 hours, i haven't touched this game for 2 years now but after seeing this video it was like PTSD reaction to remember that grind)
Ou and fuk Coda
Similar but less hard than this trophy; the game Soundfall which is also a rhythm style dungeon crawler requires you to complete each of the over 100 levels on the hardest difficulty without missing a beat and without ever losing your streak (which happens when you take any damage).
Touhou Luna nights has an achievement for fighting every boss in the game damage less no resets including the bonus dungeon. I was hahahahaha nope!
All my rarest trophies come from this game. Doing the speedrun one with Cadance is probably my biggest gaming feat. One day I'll do a full Aria run
I haven’t even beat aria lol
I’m glad you mentioned the bats cause they rare
I just got this recommended as soon as i got crypt of the necrodancer
Holy mother of dingleberries, I am so not go for those, ever.
“The hardest platinum trophy ever”
Oh it’s a rogue like rhythm game, that makes sense
Yo I played that game and I've never heard anybody talk about it. I absolutely love that game
Your forgot to mention that it has one of the best OST's ever ;)
I love this game but I suck at it, rarest trophy I got is "A Beatless Beatdown" xD
Crypt of the necrodancer is one of the most underrated games I have played.
Taking this as a personal challenge
ah jeez this video got me all fired up to play crypt again. I won't be back until I get that platinum trophy (unlikely)
I'm halfway there now, with synchrony tacking on some more trophies
Great video man :D
ty :)
