I visited Saigon in 2006. My first memory of Saigon was a very strong frickin coffee yet very delicious. A small frickin cup of black coffee with a tiny bit of condensed milk sat on those tiny short chairs and tables, after I finished half of that tiny cup my head was spun upside down, my dad was frickin out. Those old Vietnamese guys laughing at me crazily Lol. I was on my way to the hotel. then when I got back to the hotel the Hotel guy told me that the coffee was called Diesel coffee because they mixed it with a little amount of diesel. I find it hard to believe him. Anyway, guys, I had a great time there as well, but I was in love with Dalat and Hue palace. uh, I want to go again. thank you guys for this fun and joyful video. Peace

Saigon was before 1975, when the country was divided. After the fall of Saigon the communist take over the South they renamed Ho Chi Minh. You can call either name, but I refer Saigon. I enjoined your vlog. As a Vietnamese living in the U.S.
The city's old classical name is Saigon which the musical is named after. Leah Salonga, played the title role of Ms Saigon. 7:54 A very common breakfast for me is Vietnamese(french) Baguette, Pate (Canada makes a pate under the Flower brand that many Vietnamese banh mi shops use in the U.S.), Egg, and light splash of Maggi/Golden Mountain; absolute prefection. The pate used for Banh Mi is not super fatty and rich like French foie gras, which Vietnam obviously drew a lot of inspiration from, it's more like a spreadable liverwurst or braunschweiger, so good on bread. A light splash of seasoning sauce or soy sauce on eggs is KEY!! 15:55 Shelby kinda nailed the Banh Canh Cua I do my best to let my ice coffee melt a bit to tone down the sweetness, but sometimes I can't resist, it's just too good! Doesn't seem like you guys did anything history research about Saigon, HCMC before visiting. Many other youtubers did a good research about the history of Saigon & the Vietnam War with the Americans.

There is a lot of history in Vietnam but we wanted experience first hand in person to know what it’s like vs not pre-reading about it online. @@ChaseandShelbs Cu Chi tunnel & Phu quoc prison are not museum, these 2 places literally don't have anything to see or learn about the Vietnam war. Cu Chi tunnel/Phu Quoc takes 15 minutes to explore, where the war remnants museum may take 3-4 hours to see everything and to read the details on the wall.
Also, during our visit to the tunnels our tour guide also shared all the history about the vietnam war as well as details about his own family too. So yes the war museum we visited as well as the cu chi tunnels is very beneficial for visitors who want to learn about what happened during that time!

You'll learn a lot more about the Americans, not just the war. No visitor visits Saigon without visiting this museum. Cu Chi tunnel/Phu Quoc takes 15 minutes to explore, where the war remnants museum may take 3-4 hours to see everything and to read the details on the wall.
We said we visited that museum and what your saying in this comment is 100% true 👍
Also, during our visit to the tunnels our tour guide also shared all the history about the vietnam war as well as details about his own family too. So yes the war museum we visited as well as the cu chi tunnels is very beneficial for visitors who want to learn about what happened during that time!
Hahaha, don't count on people stopping :). Just jaywalk anywhere :)
Since from french colonial we called $@igon, before name of Saigon khmer people named this land Saykol (saykol is hard to pronunce in vietnamese so we called it $G)

Used to be Saigon. Now HCM city, but many still refer to Saigon.

Just walk like you know what you are doing. The traffic will flow around you like water.

Love your video. Don't understand why traffic near Ben Thanh market, Opera house is nearly quiet. When i was in 2019 the traffic was really crazy. Have a nice stay and take care.
Thanks! 😃 We aren’t too sure, for us we thought it was very busy lol! Cheers
