Today we arrive into Saigon aka Ho Chi Minh city in southern Vietnam. After a long and wet drive to get here, I was so happy to check into the best hostel room of the trip so far, and then continue to be blown away by the sights and sounds of this vibrant and very livable city.

Alot of people around the world still have a mentality that Vietnam is very poor and ruin by war until they visited the country. The truth is Vietnam is not a country like most people think its used to be. The country is not developed yet but definitely not a third world country and still has a long way with alot of issue to do but the future look great and bright.

The reason why President Ho Chi Minh is buried in Hanoi but named for Saigon, you should take a moment to learn the heroic history of my country. Documents coming from Vietnam, we will be 100% accurate, multi-dimensional view. Thank you,Have a great trip in my country

Personally, I thought the hostel 2Passports 1Dream found in Da Lat was WAY nicer. I wish you'd have stayed at that place when you were in Da Lat....and I think it was almost half the price you paid for the one in HCMC. Really wish you'd do a bit more research as you continue your journey as comparison of one extremely modern part of HCMC to that of the Old Quarter of Hanoi isn't correct. One district/area does not a city make...and well, it's called the OLD Quarter for a reason.

Wow, Saigon is almost unrecognizable compared to what it was 20 years ago. It's cleaner, looks way more sophisticated, and It's just as freaking hot, I'm sure. I'm so envious. Great upload, cheers.

There’s another route from Phan Thiet/ Mui Ne to Saigon, which runs along the coast, if you want to avoid the National Highway. You follow the coastal road, with much much less traffic and way more nice views, and arrive at Vung Tau, a nice beach resort town. From Vung Tau, you take the ferry to Can Gio, and then cross the bio-reserve area back to the city via South Saigon. This route takes a little more time, but gives you more leisure.

You actually can also walk in the pavement in Hanoi, and yes, Saigon is a little more modern than Hanoi, but not that much. It seems you have only spent time at the old quarter in Hanoi - which of course has old and short buildings, small roads, etc. While in other districts, there are tons of skyscrapers and more modern like Saigon. On the other hand, you also seem to spend time in district 1 which is the most modern district of Saigon.

Saigon is the old name of the city, later named after President Ho Chi Minh, because it is associated with the campaign to liberate the South and reunify the country, the campaign named after Ho Chi Minh.

Spent a few days in Saigon back in May 2000. 22 years ago. Almost no cars and a few motor bikes. The vast majority of the traffic were bicycles. Very few high rise or even mid rise buildings. WOW! has it ever changed. Thanks for taking us along with you. I look forward to each episode. Keep up the great work!!

Loved HCMC! Been there 4 times now, stayed in a different Districts each time. District One - Oscars Hotel - has to have been my favorite. And the walking street (where you showed us also) right up Nguyen Hue - magnificent! Thanks for the memory Paddy!

Hi Paddy, a little encouragement comment, saw your vietnam video in the month of June, made a 12 days trip to vietnam in the past July. No words can describe the country. Love your goofy videos, narratives and jokes in every presentation, also I've already booked a another trip in January for 15days. Please present the videos diligently, it's my evenings routines for the past months. Cheers mate. Thank you
