The food could be more revealing and enjoyable if the Vietnamese practiced food safety and sanitation. And there’s always garbage where they sell food.
You both are so cute!!! You’re so compassionate even when you’re frustrated at people honking and giving you a heart attack. You’re kind with your comments. I think people need to understand when you live in the environment all your life it’s in your personality. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
If the Vietnamese could keep their land garbage free, Vietnam could attract more tourists. But unfortunately, Vietnamese and garbage go together because 99% of Vietnamese litter indiscriminately. Sad.
I highly recommend you to take the cable car ( the longest in the world - 8 km long ) linking the main island of Phu Quoc to Hom Thom Island ( Pineapple Island ) and visit the Safari park , the Aquarium , the Aquapark , VinWonders theme park , Khem Beach , Starfish Beach ( not Star Beach ) , Ho Quoc pagoda ( wearing long clothes is mandatory ) , the tropical forest , the pepper and cashew nut plantations ( VN is the first producer of pepper and cashew nuts in the world ) and pearl farms .
love seeing fellow canadians! im also heading back to vietnam for vacation in the summer so i've been binging your vlogs for the past few days. thanks for letting me temporarily live through you guys, I hope you have a great rest of your trip!!
They honk at you because they're letting you know they're passing and not because you're I'm the way. So get used to it and enjoy the beauty of this amazing country and the kindest people you will ever meet!
So glad you decided to go to Phu Quoc. Jenna and I loved it 🥰. You probably could have gone in the temple. It’s pretty chill there. The bright yellow one just as you go in was interesting too.
Love your videos! I have a trip planned to Vietnam next March visiting my brother in Saigon but then have 4 days spare! Would you recommend Hoi An or Phu Quoc?? Thankyou :)
I learned when I was in Vietnam that the honking is done to let you know where they are coming from so you don't suddenly change your direction and cause an accident. Not what they are used for here to signal you to move or whatever.
The "temple" at 18:50 actually belongs to a religion unique to Vietnam called "Cao Đài" (Caodaism). Practitioners of the religion worship the Holy Eye and other gods (including Jesus Christ, the Buddha, Confucius, etc.). The fact that there were flowers on the front of people's cars proved that you traveled to Phú Quốc around February 6th, the 16th of January according to the lunar calendar. On this day, people in the South will practice something known as "cúng xe" or car "worship" in which they make offerings and pray for safety and prosperity. Vietnamese culture is present everywhere on the streets, the signs are there for you to discover!
also, it seems like they don't do it anymore. They used to cut a larger opening on the coconut and they use a spoon to scoop the coconut flesh, just in case you like to chew on that good coconut flesh.
in my opinion, the honk is way of warning you (even if we feel it's not necessary but you know, in Viet Nam the traffic is crazy). I'm so scared of the traffic that everytimes my husband walks across the street, I can't stop telling him to be careful as well. Maybe the guy just wanna say same thing... don't take it bad and take care of you 😉 Enjoy your trip!
The white sands along the Emerald Isle in Pensacola, Florida also make that sound. I was told it sounds like when you were corduroy pants and your thighs rub together as you walk. LOL
If you still in the island, definitely visit the world ‘s longest cable car from southern of the island or visit Vinwonder and the safari in the north of the island!
You should of went to sao beach its much better then the beach you was at. the sao beach has white sand soft and restaurants at the beach on the left its more fancy but the main one is more fun and cheap. Also the water is light blueish clear you can see your feet even at two ft deep. also on the way to sao beach there is a water fall that you can swim sit and drink beer eat 8am to 5pm
I'm so sorry that you guys got honked at. As someone who grew up in Vietnam (and have since moved to USA), sometimes we don't mean anything when we honk. I remember when I turned 13 and started practicing driving the scooters, I honked just for fun. Lol 🤣🤣😅 I know it doesn't justify giving someone a hear attack/startle.
Vietnamese Drivers honk to alert you that they're there. Don't be scared when they honk, it's usually from drivers that are behind you to let u know that theyre coming up from your left or right.
I can’t help it, it’s just a automatic reaction haha otherwise I wouldn’t be! It’s just very busy in vietnam. Something I’m sure we will get more used to over time ☺️
To answer your question about flowers on the bumper of some cars: It's for good luck, some people (especially commercial drivers) burn incenses before taking trips on their cars and put flowers on the bumper in hope for a safe, smooth trip.
The flower (or incense sticks) you saw on trucks (or cars) is from the drivers praying for safety for their vehicles. It makes sense with Vietnamese traffic. I'm not kidding. The round boat is for not paying boat-tax (they are clearly not boats). The narrow houses (or shops) is also for less tax. Property tax base on how wide your front is, not how long your house is The tax reasons are from the French era. But the practices stick to today.
How's the vegan food scene in Vietnam? My wife and I both love the taste of meat but we recently stopped eating it due to us not wanting to support animal cruelty anymore. Thanks in advance!
There is quite a few selections for vegetarian. I'm sure you can find quite a bit of vegan as well depending on where you go. Funny story, on our first trip we ate a bunch of vegetarian dishes not knowing. We didn't know the word for it and the vegetarian banh mi's, after we figured it out, were very good 👍😋👍
Pls say Saigon Sài Gòn in your videos with due respect to ALL of us from the Republic of South Vietnam! Also give some good tips or boa to the poor owners of street food/drink stands.
What about due respect for those living in Vietnam? HCMC now is different than Sai Gon before which was different than Gia Dinh (the name before the FRENCH renamed it to Sai Gon...you know the same people whom divided the country). Overseas Viets need to quit being negative nellies and get over losing the war already. Time to move on and uplift those living in Vietnam, not constantly saying negative stuff and bringing them down from behind a keyboard far away.
Those helmets are totally useless, no real protection at all. If you're unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident, chances are you'll wake up in hospital with half your face missing. You can easily obtain proper helmets there.

Yes, you are absolutely right. Food is life haha! 🤌🏼

@1thinhchu. Correct 💯
Chill-lax. 😂 I love it
they beat the "crowd" at the "night" market :) when the sun is still out.

Every foods in Vietnam have some kind of dip(s). Even the salad. To complete the experience, dip your foods.😅
We are all about the dips! Everything should have a dip in our opinion 🤭

The honking in S.E.A is to let you know that they're behind you or they're coming, not to disrespect you or not meant to push you out of the way.

the honks doesnt actually mean 'tgfo of the way'. its their way of letting people know they are approaching.

Since you guys traveled all over Asia what was the best city or country so far?
เก่งจังคะเก่งมากๆเลย
All the honking isn't because you guys were in the way. It's more like a heads up to watch out that they're coming towards you.
I think maybe the sand is so fine that is why.
Fav part asking them to chop coconut in half for the meat mmm
Yes it’s so good!!

Why is no one talking about the tarantula? 🤣
I guessed that it was almost certainly a huntsman spider (they are pretty big), not a tarantula.
