I love this part of WA state, and enjoyed your video. Our home is near the North Cascades area, but we try to visit the Olympics at least once a year. It's magnificent in the winter too when the storms come blowing in to the ocean beaches. Motel camping weather.
So happy to share my home with you. You definitely need to come back when you can hike into the interior of the Olympics. 99 percent of visitors never experience the rugged alpine beauty of the peninsula. They see the coast, the moss, and a distant view from Hurricane Ridge. You have to work to get to the real Olympic Mountains.
I used to live up in Sequim for part of my childhood, did not like hiking back then, but now that I live on the east coast, I wish I did back then. The east coast just doesn't compare.
I went for a hike around Staircase in the SE corner of the park last week & saw lots of folks with backpacks that looked like they were heading out to camp for a night or 2.
SUV RVing is the best way to see the Olympic Peninsula! I stayed there in a tent when I was a kid & we were all wet & miserable! Much nicer to be cozied up in my SUV.
I just got back from spending a week in the ONP and camped in the Quinault rainforest. Pictures just can't do it justice. I encourage everyone to go see this amazing place in person.
Thanks for the beautiful video!! It truly brightened my extremely stressful day. I spent many days & nights exploring the Olympic Peninsula while growing up in Olympia. My adventures have taken me nearly the entire west coast from Anchorage to Panama Canal, Canada, States, Mexico & 8 other countries... The PNW is my favorite needing to go home & revisit all my favorites & hopefully find new. Nothing like a rainbow or steelhead for breakfast w wild berries.
Thank you so much! I am planning a "Car Camping Trip" to see family in Port Townsend, WA... So.. It is wonderful and very, very valuable to see these locations. I wish I didn't live in far Southwest, FL (Good Grief) But that's makes it quite a Coast to Coast adventure. Guess I will need to document it! It will be an adventure just getting out of FL. Like climbing out of a hole! Anyway... Not only are your videos very enjoyable to watch... but also invaluable! Thank you!
I really love the landscape of the PNW. The rocks, moss and moist green are stunning. My favorite part was looking over the steel bridge….and maybe the instant replay with “Nnnoooooo!!!!!”. Fabulous video. Thank you so much. I really look forward to your videos!
Bo-ga-sheel You’re in my old stomping grounds! Lived on Lake Crescent when I was 18 though they’ve logged and altered the landscape so much it makes me want to cry when I think of how it used to look like. The Olympic Peninsula is a virtual playground! I adore it. Sol Duc hot springs! Lots of short hikes to unbelievable places. Miles and miles of backpacking. You can hike from lake Cushman off Hoods Canal to lake Quinalt. Thank you SO MUCH for taking me back there, Tristan! Love your videos!
I agree completely with your comment about the logging - thank the Deity the Park was created, otherwise the loggers would have raped the scheisse out of it! Been here 7 times, and every time it's just as breathtaking as the previous (last time 1998)! If someone asked me what my favorite national park is, I would say, a tie between Olympic and Glacier!
WOW Tristan that was a terrific intro to the Olympic Peninsula Area. It really brought back a lot of great memories; my very first trip out west was a road trip I did with 2 of my grad school roommates from Rutgers University to Seattle. Along the way we stopped at the Badlands, Mt Ranier & the Olympic Peninsula. One of my favorite stops was at Ruby Beach so it was great to see the area through your eyes. This was in the late 1970's & the beginning of many adventures to the national parks, monuments, forests and BLM lands of our amazing country. Your treks always whet my appetite to see and do more.
I've been here 7 times (the last with the wife and daughters in 1998). Don't need to say anything - the images say everything for me! Thank you for this!!!!
I when you gave your talk after you reached 100,000 subscribers, you were surprised that so many people had come toyour site. Well, I want to say, my wife a I watch your site often and we have watched other sites too. I find your voice and the way you present what you put out to be very inviting and enjoyable to watch. The is beauty in all you do.
I grew up in that area, and it used to be much more beautiful before the logged it. So dark and mysterious, a great place for kids to play. I don't understand how you can say the WA rivers are more beautiful than Montana Rivers! The water isn't nearly as clear. Thanks for the memories.
What a memory jogger video! My wife and I were at every place you were in this video! Such beautiful scenery and those moss covered trees... oh my gosh! Thanks for wetting my travel spirit and now I'll be dreaming of the Olympic National Park and the whole region tonight!
We were in Seattle in March with the intention to go to Olympic National Park and Mt Rainier. We made it to Mt Rainier, sick as dogs because we didn't want it to be a wasted trip. We had gotten COVID from a family member who didn't know they had it. We spent a week in a hotel and never made it to Olympic National Park. Thank you for providing your experience there. We are definitely going in 2022.
Beautiful video! I havent been there since 1982 ... on a motorcycle ... british columbia to los angeles; 4 corners & back up north again. WA is so incredibly gorgeous. Thank you for filming.
The massive moss covered twisted trees on your second hike have such an eerie presence to them. I can imagine a horror flick with the trees coming alive. 🎥 🍿
I moved to Olympia right about the time this was filmed, and am sooo excited to have all this gorgeousness basically in my backyard! Also really looking forward to exploring the Quinault area with my family when they come out to visit next month. Thanks for another great video! Just shared it with the fam to get them excited to see this too.
I took my dad up there the year before he died. So 2018. It’s an amazing place. I grew up in that area. Even in the summer that area is cloudy snd drizzly so I’m shocked you had such good weather in April. Yes, that flower was trillium. It’s an endangered flower so illegal to pick. They only grow in areas with heavy rainfall. Furthest south you will find them is in the CA redwoods. If you pick them you kill them in perpetuity. They don’t reproduce well since they don’t go to seed snd aren’t exactly a bulb. My dad and I saw almost all the stuff you showed in this video. Bringing back good memories. Thanks for posting
When I lived in Washington State that bridge, @ 2 minutes in, was a favorite spot for bungee jumpers. It's a long, long, LONG way down to the river. Freaks me out just watching your video!!! I used to hike all over the Oly's until 2000 when the world ended with Y2K.
I grew up in western Washington - been to Ruby Beach many times. Those rocks are called sea stacks. Next time check out Second Beach for some of the best ones on the coast. It’s 2/3 of a mile hike down to the beach, and you can camp on the beach.
Yet again, you put out a video in the area we just visited (we left Olympic this past Tuesday). Wished we would have seen your vid before going bc we missed a number of things you showed -- High Steel Bridge, Largest Spruce, and Tree of Life.Had to laugh bc on our last day in Olympic, we hiked the Lake Quinault Nature Trail and took pictures of that same stump with the tree roots. Loved the tidepools at low tide most of all at Ruby Beach (the thing that struck me on your video was the lack of crowds there). Hall of Moses and Hurricane Ridge were the highlights of our trip. Please put out a video of the North Cascades *before* we head up there next week so we know where to visit. lol.
Thanks Tristan. I went thru that park back in the summer of 2018 which was my 1st time and it was MAGICAL. But I didn't get to see much cuz I only had one day. I got to see Lake Crescent, Marymere Falls, Ruby Beach, and the whole hwy 101 loop. So now, thanks to you, I've had the chance to see much more. Obviously one day I'll go back and see more and it will be nice to see it again but IN PERSON. But, anyway, thanks again my friend. You ROCK
Just camped Olympic forest (because the Olympic Park doesn't allow dogs ) 2 weeks ago. It was awesome. 2nd time and I can't wait to go back. Those trees growing from a cut tree are everywhere in Oregon and Washington. I love them.
Thank you for the pretty and interesting video. I liked each and every place you visited. I honestly prefer these kind of your videos to the ones where you climb mountains as you enjoy it but I being much older feel giddy just seeing you climb them. Take care and have fun🤣😝😜
Another great video... thank you so much! Lived in Washington State most of my life... with the exception of 4 years on the Central Oregon Coast. One of my most memorable moments on the Olympic Peninsula was when driving near Forks... when the windshield wipers on high speed could not remove the rain fast enough to actually see the roadway ahead. Enjoy your many and uniquely varied video adventures.
Nice Video. Don't worry about not seeing the Olympics. You can't see much more in the summer either until you hike 20 miles up the trail. When I was in the Hoh in the Fall, I never saw an Elk, but I could hear therm "Bugeling" and they weren't far off. I 'm glad you Covered Ruby beach. It's one of the best Beaches anywhere. I have a shot of that arch seastack at sunset with the sun setting thru the arch. One of my Favorites. I later parked on the Makah Res. to hike out to Shishi Beach to Point of Arches. That;'s the best Beach I've ever been to. But Alas, when I got back to my car they had broken in and stolen everything I didn't have with me. The only time I've ever been jacked up while travleing. The tribal Police wouldn't help at all, and I soon found out that it's a common scam. The Washington folk know you have to pay someone to park at their place and watch your car or it'll get ripped off, (and the Police won't help).
Today I think I liked the beach area with the tree of life better than the waterfalls even. I would love to have a week to explore that beach area. Have to say during a storm I would get the heck out of there, they don't call them widow makers for nothing. Stay safe Tristan ... have fun.
i have pictures from 25 years ago from that area, it is greener. Twenty five years ago, in late July, we were dreading maybe getting One 100 degree day. Now, in June, we are expecting 113. a lot of the 500-800 year old forests i loved hiking in 25 years ago are burned to sand. i am in Oregon. 25 years ago, you were 1? year old. i am hoping to be there when 25 years from now, you revisit those pristine areas. and i hope they will still be there, back to being as green as they were 50 years ago. fingers crossed. Thank you so much for sharing your adventures.
I love Washington. Even though I have been out there twice, you always show me something that makes me want to go back and explore more. When I would hike in the Olympic National park, I would feel like a velociraptor would jump out at me any moment. lol
Thanks for nice views of the steel bridge!! I'm trying to overcome my fear of high bridges, those shots kinda help me!! ❤️😀 Also, who cares about looks, people should realize when camping- It's never about our looks!❤️🎉
We have been to all 50 states, most of them we have camped in , but the Hoh rain forest campground has to be the best (site #79) it's a magical place to say the least. Once we saw (Frank Burns) a big bull elk in the campground, then just last month a young female elk had a two week old calf who came and stayed in our camp site for several hours. The Cascades have to be our favorite place. Oh don't forget to drive down the 101 hwy and stop at Beach #1, #2, and #3 another wounderful Place to spend a day a the beach.
I work at Lake Quinault Lodge (And my daughter works with me now to) Grew up in Queets and worked at Kalaloch Lodge before working at Lake Quinault. Was having fun guessing which spots you were hitting next in your video! Yes we are very blessed to live in such a beautiful part of the world
One of your best videos. Variety of lovely places, types of scenes & amount of commentary exceptional. Types of scenes such as nature blended with you walking to & fro, drone forrage where meaningul, standing near/under "Tree of Life" for scale, comedy appetizer, background music - all very well done & inspiring.
It's a gorgeous part of the USA!! Literally breathtaking!! Too bad the thugs have graffitied that amazing bridge. They liter as well. On a different note, the nurse tree is incredible. Nature always amazes me!! 🦋🐞🌴🌿🌲🐛 The spices tree!!! ❤
Watching your videos is like retracing my steps. I've climbed and/or been to every place you filmed. When you get to the east coast you might want to start with Mount Marcy in NY, from there head over to Mount Washington NH, then Katahdin MN. Heading back to NYC you can hit Slide Mountain the highest in the Catskills. This will add 4 more highest points to your resume.
I was able to work for 6 months on the peninsula last year and explored widely. I miss it terribly but thought I was doing ok till you stepped onto Ruby beach and the tears started leaking down my face. Born a midwesterner but salt water is in my soul!
I've tent camped off the Hoh River and it's truly magical isn't it!! Ruby Beach is definitely a must ....its one of my favorite beaches and I live in Oregon so we have some amazing ones but Ruby Beach is almost spiritual.
I was born, raised, and lived in Washington state for 30 years before I moved overseas. I had no idea that tree of life was near Forks. I had seen photos of it but never knew how close I was to it until now. Time to plan a trip back home.
And the sky is so dark at night. I once came out of the trees near Lake Ozette to see a brilliant Milky Way straight up and down reflecting in a placid sea.
One of the coolest places in the U.S., I can't wait to go back. The Hoh was really the highlight for me and the tide pools at Ruby (saw my first sea otters), and on the Hoh visitor center loop trail (Hall of Mosses) we found a family of river otters. I went in mid-October and the weather was awesome. Spring doesn't look all that bad either.
Great video. I’m in Forks right now and did some of the same things. But today is hot like I’ve never seen it here. It was 100 degrees. We spent most of our day at the beaches to stay cool. Thanks for all of your amazing content.
As is so often true of your videos, I have added more items to my bucket list. I will be visiting these places within the next 2 years if all goes according to plan. The moss hanging from the trees created an enchanted environment.
You're pretty close to my neck of the woods (just across the border). Our rainforest is currently not feeling very rainforestey with the heat wave we're experiencing!! Good you came earlier in the year!
Thank you for posting what you ate. For some reason I love to see the wonderfully unhealthy food you can eat after hiking. I hope to visit Olympic Nat'l Park someday. Thanks for the beautiful video. Anne
Don't apologize, people who camp or do outdoorsy things know exactly what everyone looks like in the morning and how little it matters.
Your a handsome man!!!
Our beautiful America!
I love this part of WA state, and enjoyed your video. Our home is near the North Cascades area, but we try to visit the Olympics at least once a year. It's magnificent in the winter too when the storms come blowing in to the ocean beaches. Motel camping weather.

Yep the interior is stunning, same with North Cascades National Park
Agreed. Walk for days and see none
Very very few motorized trails. Take a friend. Many people get lost or fall from ledges
I used to live up in Sequim for part of my childhood, did not like hiking back then, but now that I live on the east coast, I wish I did back then. The east coast just doesn't compare.

Next time you're on the Olympic Peninsula, you MUST go to Cape Flattery for spectacular views of the rugged coastline.
Unfortunately, I believe it has been closed since the beginning of COVID-19.
@@timschwarze4842 True, but surely it will reopen soon.

Stunning scenery. Any day on the beach/coast is a good day. Those white flowers were indeed Trilliums. They are our (Ontario) provincial flower. 🤓🇨🇦
My Birth name is Merri...I have always been in love with trees!!

If you think Florida is bad... just try South Kack- a- Lacka..🤪🥺😳.... I gotta get outta this place asap
Port Townsend is gorgeous! Have a great trip!
We’re near Gainesville. Heading out there next year as well.
Superb 20 minutes of beauty, information, and RV adventuring. I rarely watch UA-cam videos in their entirety. Yours are the exception.
Any picture you take on any of these places is a picture worth framing👏👏👏
I really love the landscape of the PNW. The rocks, moss and moist green are stunning. My favorite part was looking over the steel bridge….and maybe the instant replay with “Nnnoooooo!!!!!”. Fabulous video. Thank you so much. I really look forward to your videos!

Waterfalls. All that green scenery.
I went there during the spring and the rain and snow made the place look magical..like straight out of the fairytale books.
I grew up in that area, and it used to be much more beautiful before the logged it. So dark and mysterious, a great place for kids to play. I don't understand how you can say the WA rivers are more beautiful than Montana Rivers! The water isn't nearly as clear. Thanks for the memories.
The water isn’t clear because it’s infused with cedar. Looks beautiful in a Sierra cup or a white coffee cup. Tastes good too.
What a memory jogger video! My wife and I were at every place you were in this video! Such beautiful scenery and those moss covered trees... oh my gosh! Thanks for wetting my travel spirit and now I'll be dreaming of the Olympic National Park and the whole region tonight!

Everything in this video looks fabulous. Especially the ice cream.
The “worlds largest” Sitka used to be on the way to Seaside Oregon but it got taken out in a storm years ago

correct, Tristan…the plant is a trillium

Cool. Trees growing from fallen trees, I don't think we have that on the east coast considering our trees grow like weeds.
The water! Favorite sights. 🙂
We hiked the Lover Lane Loop through old growth forest and the Sol Duc Falls two years ago. Absolutely beautiful!
May be longer for this world than you think that beach tree!😀
WOW! When you walked out from under the tree of life it showed it's size.
Excellent guided tour of the Olympic Peninsula

The tree of life is at Kalaloch - south of Forks by about 45 minutes.
Unbelievable how clear the water is! So gorgeous!!
Nailed it MrT👍🏻👍🏻
Loved the music in your video, great choice! Washington does look amazingly beautiful, on my bucket list with Oregon.
The sky is so blue at the beaches!! When we visited, it was so gray but still so beautiful! Thanks for sharing!
That's reason I went on this trip when I did! The weather was unseasonably good 😁
And the sky is so dark at night. I once came out of the trees near Lake Ozette to see a brilliant Milky Way straight up and down reflecting in a placid sea.
Thanks Tristan 🌲🌲🌲
Anne
Thank you! I loved seeing life come from death, the waterfalls and mossy trees!
I was born and raised in Port Angeles...wow this took me back.
Need to go for a trip.
thank you , the bucket list keeps growing , wow what a spectacular place
Awesome Video. I know many of these places well. Hope you enjoyed your time in Washington.
You are looking great! Your video's are looking great! Nothing goes wrong. I enjoy tremendously your offerings.
I've been all over and that area is hands down one of my favorite.
