Thanks Emma for sharing your tip of painting trees. Before watching this video, I was always wondering why my trees don't turn out right, but now its very clear to me. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this truly helpful lesson. Some of the things I liked: explicit instruction, unencumbered by music or extraneous chatter, leaving instructions clear and step by step. I liked that you paused for illustration/clarification of instructions - like when you showed why/how too much water made background trees fat and blurry. You didn’t just wow us with your artistry but helped us develop our own. I’m a novice, and this finished product was the first one that looks a lot like what I see on the screen - something to be proud of.
You are amazing! Not only a fabulous artist - but also a really great teacher. Very few artists can convey how & what they do - so clearly. Thank you so much. You belong at a Liberal Arts College - teaching.
Thank you so much. You teach with kindness and confidence. You e taken the fear of painting with watercolor away! You he bob Ross of the early 200’s. ‘ happy little trees. Not blobs’. Love you!
Thank you, for this. I haven't touched my paints in years, but I will now...you couldn't have posted a more perfect video for me. Thank you, again! Nancy
You are my go-to watercolor artist! I just started painting a little over a month ago and have learned so much from you! The best thing I gleaned up to this point was your comment: "Never throw away a painting...always finish it!" I'm so glad I listened to you! I wanted to throw out my very first landscape but remembered what you said and I am so glad I did! It turned out so well! Thank you! Loved doing this wintry forest scene - it is so pretty!
I just found your channel a few days ago, and have followed a few tutorials already, and just want to say thank you so much! You've really upped my watercolor game, you make it so easy to see your technique and you helped me to not overthink my paintings. Thank you!!
One of my favorite landscape to do on a card is snow and evergreens... I add a subtle shimmer to mine on the snow... I like watching new techniques with horizons.... you are always very inspiring! Beautiful watercolor as always☕👍💖
As a beginner, you are the BEST watercolor teacher EVER for me! I learn so much from you! I can’t wait to try this Winter Forest Scene! Thanks for sharing your talent. I also enjoy watching your precious little boy grow!
Thank you again......I’m not getting a lot done around the house but I sure am having great fun following you and painting ❤️. I am learning so much in such an enjoyable way. Your little guy adds a lot of joy for just those few seconds. 👼
I LOVE your videos. You make everything easier to understand, and I love the way you explain why we are doing what we are doing. I started watching your videos about 2 weeks ago during chemo and I have been hooked ever since. Watercolor is a great way to take your mind off of things and also relax and have some fun while learning something new! Thank you so much for sharing your time with all of us. I know you are busy with your adorable son😍
Thank you. I am so thrilled that I was able to get two Arches water color paper pads for 60% off on Saturday! My first. I can hardly wait to get a quiet moment to try that paper out.
Thank you..... I am making bookmarks for a friend and I wanted to do a snow scene...and wella it popped up on my screen and I just finished two of them! Had to do it with very small brush and only one big tree! It came out just what I wanted it to. I embossed "Let it Snow" at the bottom! Loved how it turned out, I love your way of sharing your talent with us! Have a wonderful holiday season! Rebecca
omg, I've watched this over and over and it never occurred to me that I painted such a nice winter painting a few years back in oils it was when you said IDK if you can see this meaning the snow that it reminded it me that I could give that as a gift to someone special wow I can't believe I've forgotten about it ... but the snow came out really cool I've put all my paintings away and have forgotten about them. now time to get them framed.
Thank you so much, this really finally made trees "click" with me! I've been watching heaps of UA-cam tutorials and examples of pines and this finally made sense and gelled with a technique I had success with before. Thank you!! ❤️
I’ve watched SEVERAL instructional videos as I’m very new to watercolor and you are definitely one of my favorite. You address every question, move at a smooth pace and I love your style!! Thank you!! Oh and your boy is adorable 😍
Beautiful! I love your misty forest tutorial and this one is even better! Can't wait to try this. Thanks for the little mini teaching lesson on water control. My favorite thing about your tutorials is the fact you explain what you are doing, why, and if you make a mistake... how to fix it. I do not like tutorials with just music and no explanation. I guess I need both visual and audio to understand better how to do things!
Wonderful painting! Thank you for your explanations, especially your tips on water control. I look forward to practicing from your examples! Blessings to you and your family!
Don’t know why some people have to give you a thumbs down. If they don’t like it just move on, that’s just rude. I love your paintings and tutorials. Keep up the good work ❤️
You made my day! This is incredibly beautiful and I can’t wait to try it for myself. Thank you for all your delightful holiday tutorials this season. Seasons best from way out west, Tucson AZ.
I loved this tutorial and really pleased with my finished work. Emma you make the process so simple. I restarted watercolour last year when my husband bought me watercolour paints for Christmas. They came in handy when o had covid over Christmas. You always make it enjoyable. I always love it when even you get a little frustrated haha 😂
When I usually make trees, I paint a line in black watercolor, then take a bristle brush and dab it from top to bottom, then add a dark green for details and yellow on the sides for highlights.
This is perfect I have to do a winter card for one of my swaps, I have just started with water coloring , thank you so much I enjoyed watching you paint Emma .
Emma, I really enjoy you videos. I've never tried watercolor. But you are so inspiring. It makes me want to try it. Your instruction seems so easy. I love watercolor paintings. TFS
Making several Christmas cards with this basic landscape this Christmas.
I did mine with watercolors, but painted the snow with white gouache.
Thanks Emma for sharing your tip of painting trees. Before watching this video, I was always wondering why my trees don't turn out right, but now its very clear to me. Thank you so much!

Very pretty landscape.
I like that thing you do at the bottom of the trees. Gives a nice drifty look to the snow.
