I enjoy your instructional videos. I learn so much. I paint botanical flowers, berries, leaves, etc. However, many times I need to relax and have a little more fun and I am not so particular in exact color, edges do not have to be so precise. I hope you do not get too upset with people people ready to make negative comments whether it be the precise color, etc. You have so many people who love your tutorials because they are so relaxing and we learn. You do a fabulous job. When I am notified you have done a tutorial, I will always check it out. Before I attempt any tutorial, I watch the entire tutorial first to see what you do. I do this in botanical tutorials as well. Thank you so much for all your time you take to help we aspiring painters.
What I love about art is you can make it your own, I painted a white horse with greyish purple shading & on the chest & leg area I used some turquoise, purple shading. I have been practicing your Christmas Card paintings & I love the red berry contrast. Thank you for sharing your teaching skills!
blue berries over here my fav color...some purple too its a lot of fun to change things up keep them coming Emma your the reason I have so much fun painting in the first place you Rock!
About the mistletoe berry comments....people are just displaying their knowledge. They want to be seen for being a knowledgeable person and appreciated (or something else that will meet their needs) for having gained and for possessing knowledge. That’s all. No reflection on you. Loved watching this. I love foliage. Beautiful and simplicity
This is EXACTLY the type of tutorial I've been wanting. Have you ever considered doing one for every season? I'd love to see what you do with fall, spring, and summer foliage!
You are such an amazing instructor! Thank you for not talking continuously or blasting music. I really appreciate your calm style and simple painting method. So glad I found you...happy holidays!!
This may sound odd but when you mentioned your hand is a bit shaky, it is so encouraging for me because I have hand tremors. I desperately want to paint and don't want my tremors to be a barrier. I've been trying your tutorials and am seeing progress with practice. Thank you for being you.
Brenda Collins Deeks no problem! I also find painting more loose florals and abstract pieces are great for that. There’s not as much detail involved where you feel like you have to be as precise with your movements. Just let go and paint! Also, lots of people really love loose painting styles. Keep going!
Brenda just have fun. When my hand trembles I start small and keep getting bigger and bigger as it steadies but above all I won’t stop painting because I enjoy it so much Just go for it
Twenty-five + years of by the book acrylic painting had me terrified of watercolor. I've watched three of you videos. Ordered what you recommended. Since COVID & my age prohibit me from going out, I've now painted birthday and Christmas cards for my granddaughters. Having a ball. My Stroke teacher would be so proud. You've made a loose woman of me. Thank you for contributing to my sanity.
This is beautiful. I think this full page with this delightful layout would make a very nice gift. And red mistletoe berries are a thing. Not to mention, as you pointed out, you’re not doing photo realism. So the berries could have been painted blue! Love your tutorials. Always! ❤️
Use acrylic paint for realism! 😂 Watercolor is whimsical. However, I still struggle with peonies .... they always turn out like roses. Soooooooooo frustrating! 😒
@@ericakauffman5786 Me too, but hang in there, Erica. I just keep practicing constantly. I still can't paint an ocean wave--I've done 57 of them! But I'm with you!

Emma I love your delicate touch with the watercolour brush and your natural sense of beauty. And your calligraphy is adorable - you’ve inspired me to learn how to do modern brush calligraphy with Becca.
Love this winter foliage tutorial! I was able to snag two Arches watercolor paper pads for 60% off at Michael's on Sat after Black Friday. I've been using Bee paper and I've never had Arches. Thanks to your videos, I'm ready to move up to the good stuff. Thanks for taking time away from your family to help us learn to watercolor. And please don't let those with negative comments get you down. Just scroll on by, that's my motto. They don't deserve your attention. The rest of us do! Hug that little boy for us. He's so precious!
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I’ve just come into painting at the age of 59 and I was struggling with holly leaves. You’ve really helped! Have a beautiful safe Christmas and stay safe like we are in Melbourne after a long lockdown. My creative side came out because of it so I’m not complaining at all! Thank you 🙏🏻

Emma, I totally agree that mistletoe berries (or anything else) can be any colour the artist chooses! If anyone doesn't want to see anything that isn't totally realistic, they can go stare at photographs because they obviously DO NOT HAVE the soul of an artist!
Emma! Beautiful tutorial as usual. I truly appreciate all you do for us loyal watchers and learners. This is super helpful. I am playing it over and over while I work on my cards. And as many have said, the mistletoe berries can be multiple colors. But even so, what’s wrong with a little creative license lol! Thanks for the great instruction.
Hi Emma, found your podcast a few days ago and it has encouraged me to try painting, I’m in my 70’s, but watching you is so encouraging, I have ordered my palette and some paints, but can you tell me how you remember which colour is in each space ? And is there an easy way to remember? Looking forward to your next podcast, thank you for making them and for your help and encouragement to us all, blessings from Scotland
I cut a piece of watercolor paper to fit in the lid of my palette then painted a small swatch and wrote the color for each space.. sometimes the dark colors look alike, specially when they’re dry!
Margaret, in the beginning, I could only afford a few colors, so I got the 3 primaries, then 3 more colors the next month that I liked (Michael's coupons help a LOT!). I think it's marvelous that you're in your 70s just beginning! You'll soon discover that you'd rather be painting than sleeping, reading, even eating! I'd love to hear more from how your journey's going over the next weeks, months. I'm SO excited for you! Congratulations, Margaret! Yay!!!
Hi Margaret I turned 72 today and have been watercolor painting since March ( COVID has been a blessing because I have stayed home and had to entertain myself) I’ve never been happier with a hobby. I often can’t see if I’m using green, blue or black. It helps to keep a little scratch paper next to you and try the color on there before you put it on the painting
Thank you so much for this video! I enjoyed painting these as my very first full on, watercolor project on my first watercolor paper/art book! It was so much fun and I loved learning watercolor techniques along the way! Also it was so ironic because my toddler son was throwing a tantrum for hubby as well while I was painting along to your video. 😬😒
I look forward each day to watching you turn simple into beautiful. What a great video for the season. Frame that and it would make a great hanging for the season. You actually inspired me to pick up a brush and paint. All I do is usually watch. A big Thank YOU. Don Szlezyngier
Beatufiul work, Emma!!!...You are right...it is YOUR painting and can do it however you want....plus...I never knew that mistletoe berries were white....all of my Christmas ornaments are red berries...and I've had some of these ornaments passed down to me since 40 years ago when I was a little girl...XOXO
I really like you and this channel. I’ve been painting with acrylics for a while and am just getting into watercolor. You make these so easy and you talk just the right amount! Great instructions too. Thank you.
I really enjoy and learn from your videos. Thank you. You’re a great teacher/instructor. I recently got back to painting. Oils were usually my choice but decided that I wanted to do watercolors this time. Wish I had seen your video on starting out BEFORE I went shopping. I think maybe the quality of my paper or inexpensive watercolors or both are working against me. Never thought of that until you mentioned it. I did the holly leaves and berries on a card and it looks awful. Adding lights and darks and it looks like a child did it. I’ll keep painting because I love it. Thank you for the time you put into your videos.

And is there an easy way to remember? Looking forward to your next podcast, thank you for making them and for your help and encouragement to us all, blessings from Scotland
Margaret Hastings is say start with a limited palette with only one tone of each colour and then make a chart and write them down! Hope that helps!
Yay!!!
Me too! Just turned 67 and want to start watercolor as well! These tutorials are giving me the confidence to just do it!
It was a wonderful time for me!thanks from France!
que talento!! gracias !
I should have gone to bed ages ago but loving watching you paint, thank you, can’t wait to try.🙂
Thank you so much! A brilliant and simple tutorial, loved it😊
Just in time for the winter season! Thank you! Your encouragement as you are painting is wonderful!
Just beautiful! Love your color choices! You make things look so easy....can’t wait to try your samples! Thank you, Emma!

I just love your painting! It’s beautiful. I liked the red berries on your mistletoe...it’s called artistic license. Thank you for tutorials.
I adore your painting! Well done. I love botanicals. ❤️
So awesome! Beautiful creative Christmas wreath!
I just love your style and how beautiful and effortlessly you paint. I could watch you for hours
Beatufiul work, Emma!!!...You are right...it is YOUR painting and can do it however you want....plus...I never knew that mistletoe berries were white....all of my Christmas ornaments are red berries...and I've had some of these ornaments passed down to me since 40 years ago when I was a little girl...XOXO
your work is so pretty, and your teaching empowering.
I really like you and this channel. I’ve been painting with acrylics for a while and am just getting into watercolor. You make these so easy and you talk just the right amount! Great instructions too. Thank you.
Your style of painting is so simple and natural, amazing xx
Just beautiful. Thank you.
You are an amazing teacher. I've learned many tips by watching you work your magic. And I thank you so, so much.
