- Recently I was invited to a Demo for the Mecalac Crawler Skid- Excavator. The team from Saunders Equipment Ltd. along with Mecalac were there to introduce us to this innovative piece of machinery.
Change from Excavator to Skid Steer mode by turning a switch
A smart combination of a compact excavator with a compact loader, the MCR range is now available in the 6, 8 and 10-tonne class. Quite simply unique, the 6MCR is a tracked excavator that can travel at speeds of up to 10 km/h, a compact loader with 360° rotation, a construction machine that can switch from excavator mode to skid loader mode in seconds.
Thank you to the folks from Saunders Equipment Ltd and Mecalac for the invitation to see this cool little machine in action!
We hope you enjoy the video!

It moves like a ballerina with and has the temperament of a crazy drag queen
Good one! LOL. That should be their motto!
Think I'd want a demolition scree in front of me when loading chunks like that into a dump truck just incase, one of them in the crotch could seriously spoil your day. Impressive track speed 👍
You would need to wear Kevlar clothing or put transparent aluminum windows in it. 😃
That's a great machine but it needs a four-way loader bucket on it, and a thumb.
Seems sweet but way to many moving parts 4 me
Powiem wam że zwinna bestia 😊
Looks like it would have big advantages on a tight site. The skid steer aspect looks a bit awkward though
I don't know how you can be working like that.. Demo or not so many Safety Violations..
This was just a demo that I was invited to check out the Mecalac.
That's pretty cool. Can the wide bucket be mounted in reverse so you can drag material to the blade?
The skidteer bucket can't be reversed but all the excavator buckets will mount either way which I thought was pretty cool.
That machine will in most cases have a tiltrotor installed. You turn where you want then :)
You can turn the skid steer bucket either way. You can scoop or dig.
Yes
How's the parts supply? Last I heard it was basically non-existent...out here in California anyway.
And has just over 1000 grease zerks. LOL
Yeah... it's cool and all, but give that boom a couple thousand hours of use and it will wobble around so much you won't be able to stand it!
Lots of grease fittings for sure!
Couple thousand hours of use and it'll be in for a tune-up just like any other machine...so wobbly shouldn't be that much of an issue...lol. :)
Only thing that's a Bad design is the ram for the dropper can be damaged severely when digging under a large pipe, need extra caution while doing so!
wont take many hrs untill the arm is wobbly af
wow this thing is amazing! Forks and a skidsteer bucket are so useful. How come no hydra thumb? Might be time to sell my Kubota KX121-3. Thanks for sharing!
You can't add a thumb but you can buy a bucket with a built in thumb.
Put it on a steep slope or mud. Then I'll be a believer. Hard to beat a skidsteer an mini-ex working together
Dave Stinson it’s a very well balanced machine and in mud or slopes it deals with both very well
Do you know of anyone in NS with one of these?
No I don't
Any dealers coming to Ontario
I'm sure they will be sold in Ontario at some point if they aren't already. I think the rep said there is three dealers in Canada right now. Out west somewhere, Quebec and New Brunswick.
They should have used a real operator. Who parks the dump truck a block away?
So will this be a part of the jimhow fleet soon?
No not any time soon. I don't think it would be cost effective for the type of jobs I do.
Completely understand, we where going to demo one but couldn't justify cost and to have the right work for it. Cant hook up a harly rake or snow blower to it
I now of a landscape company in new Hampshire that use one to plow a big parking lot they pull up to a empty parking spot backdrag the spot and with out have to drive into the spot
Tyson Walsh it took me a second to understand this, but that’s a cool application. Who would of thought that a MTL/Excavator would be plowing snow!
I can see where it would be quite handy in some tight spots.
Or to replace most of the sidewalk crews. Dose it have high flow hydraulics on the arm to run a brush?
Andrew H that’s expensive for sidewalk work isn’t it?
Guy should stop talking
waffle waffle
These things are the most ridiculous heaps of shit.
It's a real design flaw that fork lift tynes should be able to make contact with the operator at the push of a button.
It's like having three useless machines in one.
They are expensive to!
@@JimHowDigsDirt I guess they try and justify the price by saying it's as good as three machines in one.
Tell me one decent machine the French have designed
And you? What do you design? You are just a jealous piece of shit. Go eat shit
