For a general contractor this would be an unbelievable tool. Forklift, track loader, and mini ex in one, with the ability to work in tighter quarters. Amazing equipment!
This is a helpful comparison for me, showing the versatility on the yellow machine with the full width loader bucket, coupled with the quick response drive train maneuvers
Looks good but can you fit a 4 in 1 bucket to it? Can you turn the bucket around and use it as a conventional excavator? Most sites I work on you can’t keep pushing the pile to load the bucket. Still looks good but unless you can do the above it wouldn’t work on most job sites.
That would be a PERFECT machine for a paving crew. Great for ripping up old driveways and loading the chunks into a dump truck, grading, then scooping out loads of hotmix to feed a paver or to drizzle out like otherwise done with wheel barrows.
i would like to see a couple things: how much weight can it swing around at full extension? second: one improvement i can see would be a way to crowd the bucket back against the front blade to help maximize the amount you can push with the bucket- pushing loose dirt into your bucket is one thing, but pushing rocks/gravel into the bucket against the hydraulics can't be easy on the machine- it looks built to take it but what's it do long term?
They need to be de turned to 74hp for the US market so they dont need DPF ! I have to say what an Awesome multi tool, it is so fast for moving material from one place to another and loading just incredible, these desperately need a big publicity push with people who know how to use them. I have just watched a few videos from 2 years ago where the operator has literally jumped on the machine with no tuition and made them look terrible machines, they should never have been left for demo like that, they absolutely need some one to show how good they can be, this is the best video I have see as yet !
Good machine, very versatile. The reason excavators aren't obsolete is cause this is a Swiss army knife, but it's easier to cut a loaf of bread with a serrated knife. Its awesome don't get me wrong, but if it's sticking it's teeth in the ground, then it's the same as an ordinary excavator just more expensive
Hello, Oliver, you have hit the nail on the head if all you are doing is digging then no this machine is not the machine for you but if your workload is multiple of different jobs and you are using a number of different attachments then this machine is worth looking at.
@NCD EQUIPMENT Do not be confused. Of course you could have equipped the normal excavator with a larger bucket. But the Mecalac is a special kind of machine. In terms of construction, it is hardly comparable to other machines. I think you highlighted the most important points. Good Video.
The 7 ton wheeled one was no good at grading with the arm! Very bouncy when fully extended with slightest of touches and blade down for stability, could only grade with the arm halfway extended even them still was no good not like a normal digger, but for all the stuff hes pointing out looks a great machine
It is hard to just quite as there are so many options, it is a lot more expensive than a standard excavator but you are not comparing apples for apples, where are you based if you’re interested we can get you more information
It's a cleaver design. I do like the fast tracking speed. Great for backfilling my trenches with rock when I need to. Next time I hire a machine, I might ask for this one.
Just think you can have an excavator and a bobcat and a mowing machine it would probably be perfect for digging out sewer lines. Lightweight doesn't break the grass over to bad. I would like to see the bigger bucket on it. And a smaller bucket. With the 75 horsepower motor it should be able to power almost anything.
Yes, Mecalec makesomenovel & "exciting" equipment. Trouble is that is sooo frustrating, that having bought one, altho' it can perform, not everyone appreciates it and all boils down to £ per HOUR. Sorry but I don't have time to just put in the hours - get an old gcb for that ! Thanks for posting
That skid steer bucket is also a low capacity bucket. Do a proper comparison if you’re going to do it. Also only has the reach of a 4tonne, what’s the point?? Yea digging up close, try digging further away to expose the Mecalac weaknesses, try have a lift capacity competition aswell. It looks like a jack of all trades master of none. The hitachi is a master of one. In regards to horse power, what’s more important is the pump quality and pump flow. Not just horse power.
I'm a bit skeptical, so I think you should send one to my address in Nova Scotia Canada to try for the coming summer. Please contact me for the rest of the address. Thank's.
@@gammer4438 we are not comparing the individual excavators it is a comparison of the crawler skid excavator to a conventional excavator and what extras you get with the crawl skid excavator which make it more productive when doing the job.
2 point the excavator is not a wheelloader is not made for moving dirt you can do it ant you ar not slower wen you have a bucket in right sice but when you give the mecalac a 1m³ bucket and the excavator just a 0.5m³ bucket what is fair?
Rubbish comparison! The hitachi lift capacity would be easy double the Mecalac, the hitachi will have better pump flow for running attachments, what a joke loading the dumper the hitachi was using a digging bucket??? Instead of a batter bucket and you put a skid steer bucket on the mecalac instead of the same bucket. Ok the mecalac can track faster, but Ofcourse it can when it has less lift capacity, that hitachi can lift 4tonne quite easily, I’d like to see the mecalac try that, it will tip over or hydraulics will give out. Thumbs down 👎 not an apples for apples comparison. A 6.5t hitachi would outwork your 8tonne mecalac
The bucket on the hitachi can be 3 times as big and if you need parts good luck with the French . And the Mecalac will wear down 1.5 times faster so thumbs down for the vid
Thumbs down , when doing a " VS " video it has to be similar ( buckets of comparable size ) / when doing a speed test its clear your not pressing the travel peddle on the Hitachi. So when I see a bad "VS" promo for a product and its clear to point in one direction over another it becomes an Automatic thumbs down - One positive thing about this video is it shows how compact the Mecalac is and that in its self has better applications that make it a better choice in tight areas.
Hello Richard, Thank you for your comment and I am sorry you feel it is a thumb down. As stated in the video it is a comparison between a conventional excavator and a skid excavator. Hence the fact you can run the bigger bucket as a standard attachment, not a specialist adapted bucket. and as for the speed, I can 100% guarantee that the Hitahic was in high speed and at full revs! The Mecalac is actually that much quicker.
One word and what tiny little market this machine had goes "poof". That word is: Rotortilt. And also whats with the swinging boom? Useless and ads complexity.

Did you watch the whole video? @4:28 you can clearly see the rear extensions on the bucket lodged against the blade for the very support you mention.

Where is it made?

Frightening!!
if you would like to drop me a line I would be more than happy to go through it with you
I've never seen an ex with the extra joint in the arm in the Hitachi here in the usa
The only issue I have with this video not a really a fair test when loading a 9t dumper. Should be same bucket

Mecalac vs Skidsteer

Nothing runs like a mecalac 💪
This is a entirely new class of machine hell I could sell my dozer and skid and mini excavator for one I might be interested in finding one in the US
great machine, but as a excavator it misses a very important piece, a hydraulic thumb.
Hey yea they are great machines. You can have a thumb with it.

I have such strong desire to own one
Good job
Well am sold. Standard excavator should be obsolete at some point.
Why not rotating buckets?
It's a reversible attachement, but you can put a tilt rotator on those French excavators MECALAC .
