I went through about 8 of these videos. This is by far the best. Excellent visuals, great tips and tricks + advice. Please make a similar one for the 14” M1 MacBook Pro please!
Thanks! I'm glad you found the video helpful. I hadn't thought of doing a tips and tricks video for a specific model of laptop, but if I can find enough material, it's something I'd be up for doing.
@@ProperHonestTech Yah, people love learning about the hidden features like the multiple studio mics, the pro motion options, high performance mode, spatial audio speakers, high powered headphone jack, are some I can think of off the top of my head.
Everything you mentioned on this UA-cam helped me with my Apple TV. I still have an old (11year old) plasma tv ….. not smart at all but I use my Apple TV to get access to streaming services. The tv also doesn’t have Bluetooth so I’m happy to know I can purchase AirPods Pro & connect them via Apple TV so I can watch tv without disturbing others in the house. I greatly appreciate the information you shared. Thank you so much 😊
That's great! I'm really glad the tips helped you out. The bluetooth functionality allowing you to easily connect to AirPods is great, and something I use most days.
I knew about all of these except choosing my AirPods by holding the button down. DUH! I was always going through settings and heading to the Bluetooth devices. Thank you for showing me I’ve been dumb for months lol :)
Nothing dumb about it! Some of these seem obvious, but unless you find it by accident or someone shows you, you just never know. I had no idea about being able to close down apps before I researched for this video!
@@ProperHonestTech Well I thank you for helping me out with this. I would have gone about doing it my LONG way around had I not watched your video. Much appreciated. Like the video said, Apple provides no instructions or tips on using their TV so we have to learn things on our own heheh :)
I don’t think there’s any point manually closing an app unless it has an issue. Just like with iOS, although the app is “open”, I’m sure tvOS manages apps well enough on its own. If it’s running out of RAM, then I would expect it to start automatically closing apps.
I use Siri quite a lot with Music as I use it all the time in CarPlay. It's good, but you need to know some of the context required to help Siri understand you. It could be a good idea for a future video actually!
The 4th gen is a huge lead from the 3rd gen by the simple fact that you can install additional apps on the 4th gen. I was gifted a 3rd gen and use it mainly as an iPhone mirroring device. If I could install more apps to the 3rd gen like I know you can with a 4th gen I'd switch to using it for streaming apps to my TV instead of my Chromecast.
Thanks for your great channel! I love it and learn things that I was not aware of even after a decade or more being an Apple fan and user. Question: during the last software update suddenly the power was cut off for an hour or so and after it came back on the software update did not continue but the Apple TV froze instead just only blinking the light. Whatever I tried nothing worked. It a 4K Apple TV so no jack for an USB -C jack. If you could help with a solution would be great. Thanks a million in advance. Regards from Netherlands. Jan
Could you tell us more about how you used the TV for work? I found that part in Tip 10 supremely intriguing! Did you have to bring only power for it when you bring it and connect via wifi or ethernet? Like the idea of bring an TV along for work and vacations is kinda tickling my imagination.
Thanks for your comment! Back when this video was made (and I was recording a separate VO over B Roll), I was using a Shure SM7B. I now shoot to camera, and use a Sennheiser MKE600.
This video is dated and now Apple has come out with their 2nd gen. remote control. This unit is much improved with more function buttons and particularly the click function that it should have come with. It's just been released in the past few days. (Early June 2021) Price is $57.00 US dollars).
I'm aware there's a new version, this video was finished just before Apple announced the new version. Every tip shown in this video still applies to the new version.
Another tip that very few people talk about or even mention is if you have multiple Apple TVs is you can sync the home screens on all of them if they are all using the same iCloud account. This feature, if you decide to use it, keeps all of the apps in the same place across each Apple TV you own. It is called One Home Screen. When you set up a new Apple TV it will ask if you want to use One Home Screen or not. If you choose to use it it will automatically download on place the apps you have in the same place on all home screens. You can also turn it on or off by going into settings then users and accounts then selecting the main users name and you will find it under iCloud. This feature is great, if you delete an app or download a new one it will automatically download or delete it on all of the Apple TVs you have. It will also keep the apps in the same order across all of the home screens so you know exactly were the app is on each home screen. You don’t have to go to each Apple TV and delete or download the same app manually, it will do it for you.
Hi thinking about getting the new apple tv mainly to share my iphone & ipad 12.9 pro screen to an apple tv, but is this possible will I need wi-fi. I do training from my iPhone and iPad Pro. i want to be able to use the break room tv at work, which is on a corp network. So with an apple tv, setup at home to my ipad pro 12.9, will I be able to plug it into the HDMI of the break room tv and screen mirror to the apple tv unit....
I don't believe you can share directly to the Apple TV without Wifi I'm afraid. Airplay works by sharing the content over your wifi network (in this case, your corporate one). Does your company have a 'guest' wifi you could log both into? Something less strict perhaps than the main corporate one?
That's the Apple TV app, giving you access to Apple's own TV content (provided you subscribe to it) plus of course any content you might have purchased from Apple over the years, movies etc.
You can connect any bluetooth headphones to the Apple TV and use them as your primary headphones for listening on your own. The Share Audio feature is limited to Apple devices I believe.
I m very disappointed with no gyroscope in remote…. Not able to use remote for motion games …. My daughter got so much disappointed…. Any idea how we can play motion tennis or bowling in new 4K Apple TV ?
I had a quick Google search of your issue, and it doesn't look good I'm afraid, I struggled to find any suitable options. Hopefully if someone else reads this and knows of a solution, they can share it with you.
I was able to find a few more little-known features but they’re super-niche, and honestly more focused towards business than consumer. Maybe the next OS will add a few interesting new things. Thanks for watching and commenting!
As in hooking to a hotspot on your iPhone? Just enable the hotspot on your iPhone first, then head to Settings on Apple TV, then Network, and then choose 'iPhone' (or whatever your hotspot is called) instead of your home wifi.
I have a question based on Apple TV. The main reason I would be buying one is for mirroring my Mac or iPhone to the TV. So I want to know, Would the 43 inch Tv screen be used entirely when I mirror documents or would there be too much of space wastage on the borders of the Tv screen ?
The newest Apple Remote can be purchased and sync'd with the previous gen 4K Apple TV, yes. Also, keep in mind if you have an iPhone, you can use that as a remote also. support.apple.com/en-us/HT201664
I would assume that holding the iphone in front of the projector screen would block the projection in the exact spot where it needs to be read by the phone. I wonder if a projector that fires upwards onto the screen would work?
Use a piece of paper or cooking paper (like wax paper) and put it in front of your iPhone which should have the front camera facing the projector light. I’ve seen people say that’s worked for them.
Go into the folder that you'd like to rename, and swipe up on your remote, in the direction of the folder name. You can then click to select and edit it.
Don’t know why my photos app refuses to retrieve my photos from iCloud, I just got this and I’ve been trying everything and it doesn’t watch to get my pictures from iCloud 🤦♂️
Have you ensured that iCloud Photos is switched on, across all your devices? It's in the Settings of your iPhone and your iPad, and you'll want it on across the board. I think you may also have to ensure it's switched on for Apple TV also, and will be under Settings (if it isn't on by default).

If the TV that you’re going to be watching on doesn’t support Dolby Vision, then unfortunately regardless of what you hook up to it, you won’t be able to view Dolby Vision. You’d need to ensure you get a TV that supports Dolby Vision if you want to make the most of this feature in Apple TV 4K.
