Watching people freak out about booms and busts is like reliving the stock market all over again. People refuse to look at the value of the objects they're investing in and instead look at the market value. The inherent value of what pokemon is pokemon cards and the pokemon franchise gives the cards an inherent value like never seen before. In the same way that a Mickey Mouse plush would be valuable because of Disney and what Disney has done. Not because it's a black mouse with ears. The inherent value of Pokémon set aside from the market value in my opinion is still matching with the market value suggests

I love listening to the videos like this. Very cool to hear about how to invest in anything especially pokemon, a game I love. I collect but don’t pay attention to investing but any knowledge to learn is always great to learn.
10:25 if something was 600 jumps to 900, it isn’t a 30% jump, it is a 50% jump in profit because half of 600 is 300 and if you add those together you get the 900. 50% profit. I know this was just a fast example but Alex is wrong, you made 20% more profit, which is still more than that 500 index he was breaking down.

Love ur vids. U set me on the path and helpped me figure out how i wanted to invest. I believe my mind set of buying one case a set to hold for years. Hoping one case will one day buy 2 or 3 cases when i sell the older case. I feel its a decent though process

Something interesting that most people haven’t noticed with SWSH: the booster boxes are trending downwards, but none of the other sealed product really is. All of the blisters, ETBs, collection boxes, sleeved packs, and even loose packs keep going up. Don’t usually follow investment stuff much, but to me it just looks like the market for them is stabilizing a bit because the booster boxes were overvalued way too much compared to their other sealed counterparts from the same sets
Well booster boxes usually always hold more value becuase they are valued by the collectibility and scarcity of the product itself and not as much the pack value as they age. So that is one of the reasons booster boxes are higher usually.

me personally I love cards ive pulled. Ive pulled 3 of the best 4 SWSH cards. I remember hearing about the spike rises in price and I said to my dad, Hey dad im up 300 bucks on paper in the last couple days. Knew they would come back down but cards ive pulled have a different value to me then the market price.
Do these even matter if you looking long term? I picked up some crown zenith and silver tempest this month and honestly I'm looking 5+ years ahead.
Market correction so far 3months of going down is more of a crash but, it's going down like the hype/fomo train.
The only reason the other youtubers are trying to big up the dips is so they have contents to talk about. Much like you need videos as well for your contents.
Love the video and take on how taking snapshots can absolutely skew the stats/view. Just hope you start pushing back once and awhile again with your live guests. Not saying to be confrontational but at least push back/ask questions a bit when they go completely against your views.

In your opinion what’s a decent amount of money to start an investment on Pokemon?5k-10k. I’m thinking 20 years from now what are these set gonna be worth.
Just like any investing you can start with anything. Only put in what you can afford to risk Obviously. But that is the million dollar question on what will this stuff do in 20 years. I am placing my bets that sealed booster boxes will all be worth more than they are now.
It’s summer people are putting money into memories right now, not Pokémon that’s all the gains will come back in the fall.

6 months is hard... If I had to put money to work for only 6 months I likely wouldn't invest in sealed and I would just buy collections and break them down to sell individually for profit or single cards, grade them and flip for profit.

Enjoy your content man! But couldn’t you also have a similar take about Japanese booster boxes? A lot of people seem to be overly negative with that side of the market.
Here is my honest opinion. It's very dangerous to take the data from the Japanese market in the last couple years as an outlook for the future becuase it was in a massive bubble. It would be like being in 2022 and seeing the vintage bubble in English happen in 2020 and 2021 and try to draw conclusions of how well it will continue to do going forward.
That's the only thing that scares me. We really have no idea where things will go from here. In another 3 to 5 years we will have some data in a normal market but until then it's much more of a gamble.
I followed NN tips and tricks the last year and a half and all I can say is I’m in profit. It’s that easy guys!!!

Things to keep in mind when investing in pokemon - Reprints/Restocks can tank the price at any time - Selling usually requires fees/shipping/materials - You're generally taxed on the way in and the way out - The higher the price the harder it is to sell. Dont expect to buy a box and get rich a month later. It aint happenin.
Im still up big from winter. 🎉 I dont have any losses. 20-30 percent on sealed. Some outliers like fusion. The real winners are singles and slabs. Most alt arts up 2x or very close . No crashes here

Maybe not a good example but i remember the Charizard gold star years back.
Went from 300 to 200ish all the way to 800 and never came back, different times ok but to think that card was once 20$.
I bought that one NM for 20$ and that was overpriced back then in 2009.
I remember It was alot of money for me to spend on 1 pokemon card and taught about it for a couple of days before buying.
People's emotions in the market are funny to watch and for some reason it will always remind me of that card and the lessons i learned.
The 1 year chart button is broken 😂😂😂 that was great.

You gotta talk about the low sell through rate on these boxes. Evolving skies barely sells one box a day which is concerning. Same thing for chilling and fusion.
I have sold hundreds if not over 1000 boxes and they have always moved fast. List a lowest list or a little under market and it goes or check auctions on ebay for these boxes. They usually always sell within about 10% of buy it now last sold if you want forces liquidity.

Nice pump dude! Actually....after Ebay fees and shipping (est. -$5/box) you made about $323, or about 15% for an entire year (not just 2024). The S&P increased 15%, and the Nasdaq 17% Just in 2024 so far. Much better off putting your money in the market and saving your time and energy.

If you believe its as simple as buying up inventory on one site to manipulate a market as large as pokemon, you’ll probably also believe the earth is flat if I said it convincingly enough. Like how can you not see the correlation of pokemon center becoming sold out on SWSH and the subsequent price hikes if you follow the market? Because if you do follow the market and current events in the hobby you should have seen that FOMO was going to cause a crazy spike in prices and that sudden boom was going to follow with a slight correction as everyone started trying to actualize their gains. It’s a cycle as old as time yet all

@daviddomingo425 There are a few differences. 1 Bandai has a track record of destroying TCGs and 2 OP doesn't have 25 years of success behind it in the TCG space so it's still much more risky.
