Elective mode. You can enable it in options. Basically you can switch around skills in different categories on your hotbar and mouse. There is probably a video for it.
difference is that if you get hit by the dmg more than your total life, Force Armor will not work and you will die oneshot, which means that having less than 20k life means your force armor will be useless in ACT3 onwards. you will need to have 30k+ health with 500+ all resist for you to be able to utilise the force armor
Azmodan/Act 4 mini boss runs. The fastest rush that you're able to do is preferred. I.E. if you can do nightmare fast do that. If on hell do that instead. For the beginning on act 4, most people don't know but you can just spam space bar to skip Tyrael and Imperius' conversation to get on to the mini boss.
The Force armor changed since, it is now ignored if the attack deals more than 100% of your hp. If the attack normally one shot you, then it will one shot you without being stopped by force armor.
the change to this is that while it still works as stated in the text, it now has a cap of how much damage it can absorb equal to your maximum health, so if you only have 5k hp, even if force armor want to reduce say a 100k damage to only 1/3 of your hp, it now can only absorb 5k of that 100k, which will end up one shotting u
They had a build like this is Guild Wars called the "55 Monk", basically you lowered you HP to 55, and cast Guardian Spirit on yourself which made it so nothing could damage you for more than 10% of your maximum HP. Then you cast regen which regened you're full health every other second.
Correct. He had an incorrect impression. Conflagrate increases all damage dealt (but who uses fire damage), while cold blooded does not. It's a very poor dps boost for blizzard builds, as blizzard does little damage anyways. But there aren't really other dps options for the third slot, so people still run it sometimes. I just run illusionist if I'm blizz/hydraing.
Force armor can only absorb up to 100% of your hp from a hit. Any more than that it will hit you for the difference. In order for you to outright get one shot, you have to be hit for more then twice your total HP.
Note at what the buff said "attacks that do more than 35% of your max life are reduced to deal 35% of your max life". That means the lower hp you had the better it was. Hence the life regen would regen back a third of your health insanely fast if you didn't have much to begin with. I have no idea how the buff works now but yeah, wizards were really great apparently.
its because you need to up their attributes. for followers, all attributes are 2x. so for example, i use the enchantress and have 1500 intelligence and she does 3.5k damage (weapon does 850 dps), could be higher but oh well. for the templar, you need a ton of strength and a high dps weapon. hope this helps
haha, that's cool to hear. I'm definitely going to try out your build. I only JUST discovered you could put multiple skill from the same tree on your action bar. That blew my mind. It would seem that the trees are separated and associated with a spot on the action bar as if you can only have one from each, but nope!
actually not a new build got discovered a while ago. if you thought about it yourself its pretty nice. another thing you can do is go for a lot of crit and the critical mass passive. your shockpulse will crit a lot and you will basically have diamond skin up 24/7. in combination with this its op as hell
Since no one actually answered your question, here's why. Force armor doesn't actually reduce the damage, it just absorbs the excess. Previously it would absorb everything beyond 35% of your hp. Now, however, the absorb is capped at 100% of your max hp. So that means if anything would hit you for less than 135% of your health, it behaves normally. Any damage in excess of 135% will go through. If a mob hits for 200% of your max hp, you'll be oneshot, and that's pretty common.
Pretty much still required, you now need enough resistance and life to survive a hit but this provides alot of defense, if eventually you take less than 35% of your life in one hit, which is ultra geared, you can switch to prismatic armor for 40% more resist and you would still use force armor for some bosses.
This will sound funny but it is items with attack speed % stat on them. I believe they are rings, glove, neck and weapons that can have that stat. The AH prices for items with attack speed are insane though.
Also "Cold Blooded" says that it increases the *cold* damage *dealt to chilled or frozen* monsters deals 20% extra damage, meaning that your Blizzard simply does... 230% instead of 210%. That's a waste of a passive.
haa cool i was browsing around watched this vid and realized i had been scribed to you for a while now. checked out your malphite vid when i first started lol. great show bud as always keep em coming.
each classes damage is inceased by their main stat, in this case a wizards' is increased by intel. so if lets say you have 1200 intel. your damage is increased by 1200%
That might make you think you should stack hp, but there you'd be wrong. The optimal state is to reduce damage by as much as possible (resist and armor), and have a reasonable health pool in order to buff force armor's absorb. Depending on your gear that usually means you want 25-33kish health. More if your resists/dps are low, less if they're not. Or you can get 100k+ dps and cheese elites with archon/venom hydra.
just so u know, cold blooded only makes your frost attacks do more dmg to chilled targets, not all ur attacks. so with that build, the only spell that does more dmg is blizzard.
Force armor will reduce damage you receive by 33%, but caps out at your maximum life. Therefore, if you have 6k life, something that hits you for 14k damage will get its damage reduced by 6k and will still hit you for 8k, and you will still die. Prismatic armor is much better once you get your resistances up. If you have low resistances, force armor is better.
no actually, the nerf was that attacks that can kill you instantly can do that even if you have energy armour up, instead of dealing 35% dmg. it always was 35%
Yes you can use any of those. Infact in the lower levels i used to use a 2 handed crossbow as the prices for those were really low compared to 1 handers.and could buy a high dps one for very cheap (if there were no cheap 1 handers of the same dps levels). But ultimately i think you want a 1 hander + a source as your weapon set.
I have heard that all attack speed bonuses were cut in half, but what happened to the skills for this? Energy Armor still has the 35% maximum damage skill rune.
They're going to fix champion packs and alot of changes in inferno in 1.04 to make it easier and fix some things w/ elites, such as jailer and mortar combo, and shielding.
I hope you put up another wizard build, I have 27k dps with magic weapon-force weapon and glass cannon. I do have 30k hp so I'm not super squishy. But I still get screwed over by those champions and elites
hey i use a similar build, cool :) except instead of teleport i use familiar with the sparkflint rune to even further increase my damage :p Oh also i use distingrate. You kite around to much for blizzard to really be that effective. I also use seeking magic missiles to help kite
I'm with Projectbeard. When I first started Diablo 3 I was afraid that it might stay as easy as it was in the beginning. Best thing about it is the Endlevel content. I'm glad they gave us a real hardcore gamer CHALLENGE. Soloing the butcher on inferno gave me a rush that I haven't had on a boss fight in YEARS. If you succeed after many tries and changes in equipment it is so much more rewarding. Save your money and L2P! :D
I’m on lvl 32 and when I blast enemy’s I see little numbers. They’re around 20k 30k. Idk how all monsters die instantly and heal me at the same time. Even bosses succumb fast
Ritz handles you probably have life on kill on your gear. Also this video is completely irrelevant to Diablo 3 in its current state. Also leveling is really really easy in D3 now.
That's the build I was going for and I thought I was the only 1 who thought of it. It was working great in hell on Friday. I had lower HP and more regen. Did they seriously nerf force armor since then?
I'm still using this build, while not invincible anymore, I am still doing way better than other people using this exact build. I'm stacking vitality, int, resists, and trying to stack health regen at the same time.
Published on "May 21, 2012" please read before you think he's trolling... this got nerfed but the world first Inferno Diablo kill was a Wizard using this build
I don't care who came up with this build, this is the vid I found and this is the vid that has made me enjoy playing D3 since I've made it to Inferno. Now I just need to get rid of all this damn vitality and get some better life regen stats ;-) Thanks!
my thought exactly! the moment i saw that there was a skill that made it so you can't lose more than X % of your hp from attacks i knew there'd be a 55 type build coming along XD
Nice video. Have you tried using Living Lightning on your Shock Pulse? Along with Magic Weapon: Venom + Critical Mass (Passive) I find that I can use Diamond Skin repeatedly. Have you tried this?
yes but it was hotfixed so it only does that if monter doesnt hit for more than your hp is.. so if you have 5k hp and monster hits 10k nothing can help you
I tried it and it worked fairly well in multiplayer; whenever the tanks left 1 or 2 bad guys behind, they'd go for my wizz and get killed, instead of hit-killing him. Reasons why it worked: 1) 4.7k HP and 2k+ HP/sec regen, so, basically, I get my wizz back to 100% within a sec. 2) Diamond skin. HOWEVER, it's not efficient, and here's why: 1) Any DoT will instantly kill the wizard w/ this build, no matter what; 2) Any 1-2-3 hit will also kill the wizard w/ this build.
it's still ok. I suggest just getting some degree of health, still pretty easy to kite with. but I get 1 shot by any type of fireball or high dmg attack. I think all wiz still need force armour, just bit more HP and resist and will be fine.
Very nice, I got a question. I'm playing DH. I'm getting one hitted by pretty much anything at 20k life. So is it all the Resis you get by intelligence, allowing you to plan your build on Life Regeneration?
Force armor works like normal but they added this: When the mob CAN oneshot you the force armor doesn't work and with less then 20K hp you'll get oneshot with force armor on
FA has been 'fixed' long before 1.03. They did, however, also just 'fix' Force Weapon as well, and apparently the reflect rune on diamond skin (people used this?)
I am a witch doctor on act 3 inferno, i am using health regen buod, and it is AMAZING! i have 47k hp with 3,5k regen per second + life on hit It's just sick good
as he clearly states with annotation is that this is nerfed. The 35% dmg reduce CAN´T reduce and amout equal or higher than your max health, so if some one was going to 1 shot you, you still get one shot :C
(Hate that I forgot to mention this in the other comment) Though I will say Monks and Wizards will probably be the best survival characters, especially with Kormac. (Though, Gloom rune is still pretty awesome on Shadow Power, which basically with the rune means I take 65% less damage while 20% of my damage heals me...)
Trust me, no matter how much you try, you will always find a mob that can land a hit on you and insta gib you. You just need enough to survive a couple of hits and of course a lot of damage with kiting as much as possible.
it's an interesting build, I will try it out once i've farmed for gold. I'm running with nearly 9000 def buffed, 800~900 res on most elements and my DPS is about 12500. 33k hp. In solo i don't use the helper or i forget. Just noticed not many ppl use Archon skill, That's the true power of killing.he does like 30k+ per hit with that energy wave ala dragon ball. That is major OP. Most elite sets die in few hits with hit close counter hit. Looking for a great Monk build.
reading comments while video is playing. Haven't seen a "big red wall of text" explaining that this is an old build yet but smy202 is exactly right. Energy Armor: Force Armor has been patched to allow people to be one-shotted rendering this build obsolete.
There's a bug after this recent patch where the 35% rune doesn't function correctly. Hopefully it gets fixed soon cause I have the same build as him and im getting 1 shot with this armor on.
Well so i will try to explain it, Energy armor reduces all damage dealt to you which is greater than 35 % of your max life to 35 % of your max life, So the thing with reg is, to keep your max life low and your reg high, so you can regain a high % of life fast, so if your reg is high, they allways hit you for just 35 % and you reg it up in some seconds, and they can hit your for 35 % again, while when your life is high and reg is low, it will take much longer to reg the 35 % back.
mhm maybe its an graphical error/glitch... either your graph card is weak or its going to bust out sometime soon (1-2 condensers or more are fried and need replacement)
There's an option in your settings to customize your skill bar, which allows you to put any skills in any slot on your character
Go to options -> gameplay -> inferface and then check in elective mode. It then shows the arrows in which you can choose other skills.
Elective mode (in options) allows you customize your action bar and have whatever you want down there.
Elective mode. You can enable it in options. Basically you can switch around skills in different categories on your hotbar and mouse. There is probably a video for it.
Options - > Gameplay -> Check Elective Mode. It allows you to have multiples of the same class spell on your bar.
you need to go to options --> gameplay --> interface and check the box that says elective mode, you can now put any type of skill on your skillbar
difference is that if you get hit by the dmg more than your total life, Force Armor will not work and you will die oneshot, which means that having less than 20k life means your force armor will be useless in ACT3 onwards. you will need to have 30k+ health with 500+ all resist for you to be able to utilise the force armor

questions:
1. whats the max INT you can get on a single item?
2. whats the max INT % bonus you can have?
Options -> Gameplay -> Interface -> Elective Mode. Then when choosing you abilities your abilities you can scroll over to other categories
The Force armor changed since, it is now ignored if the attack deals more than 100% of your hp. If the attack normally one shot you, then it will one shot you without being stopped by force armor.
cold blooded increases every damage done on freezed or slowed mobs by frost abilities, not only frost damage.

so if you only have 5k hp, even if force armor want to reduce say a 100k damage to only 1/3 of your hp, it now can only absorb 5k of that 100k,
which will end up one shotting u
it depends on simply how good the player is too, like if theyre naturally good/have experience in games or maybe arent great with reactions, etc
He uses elective mode which lets you assign any skill to any slot. It's under gameplay tab in the options.
Change it in settings. It's called elective mode i think and just uncheck it and you can arrange all your skills in whatever order you want.
It's been out there for a while, hard to believe you "discovered" it. Either way, good informative video.
They had a build like this is Guild Wars called the "55 Monk", basically you lowered you HP to 55, and cast Guardian Spirit on yourself which made it so nothing could damage you for more than 10% of your maximum HP. Then you cast regen which regened you're full health every other second.

turn on elective mode in the options - it frees you from the forced grouping of skills and can then use what ever you want.
its because you need to up their attributes. for followers, all attributes are 2x. so for example, i use the enchantress and have 1500 intelligence and she does 3.5k damage (weapon does 850 dps), could be higher but oh well. for the templar, you need a ton of strength and a high dps weapon. hope this helps
They did this in Guild Wars, 6 years ago, with a 55hp Monk. Glad to see that it's possible in Diablo :3
haha, that's cool to hear. I'm definitely going to try out your build. I only JUST discovered you could put multiple skill from the same tree on your action bar. That blew my mind. It would seem that the trees are separated and associated with a spot on the action bar as if you can only have one from each, but nope!
It will be mostly only about gear, you will see. That is why auction is there and best gear will be probably for real cash.
You can activate "elective mode" @ options/gameplay/
lets you pick any kind of set for any button
Might aswell use 6 skills of the same set
There is a box in the options menu thats called something like "eclective mode", it lets u assign any ability to any slot. :)
actually not a new build got discovered a while ago. if you thought about it yourself its pretty nice. another thing you can do is go for a lot of crit and the critical mass passive. your shockpulse will crit a lot and you will basically have diamond skin up 24/7. in combination with this its op as hell
I've lived on both coasts and heard various people on both sides use hundreds. Depends on if you're trying to make the amount sound less or more.
I feel enlightened after watching this video, thanks so much dude !
Spectral Blades definitely does more than Piercing Orb. Thrown Blades means you can actually kite with it.
Since no one actually answered your question, here's why. Force armor doesn't actually reduce the damage, it just absorbs the excess. Previously it would absorb everything beyond 35% of your hp. Because in options you can make it so you can use more than one type of move and position moves differently with an option called eletive i think
Pretty much still required, you now need enough resistance and life to survive a hit but this provides alot of defense, if eventually you take less than 35% of your life in one hit, which is ultra geared, you can switch to prismatic armor for 40% more resist and you would still use force armor for some bosses.
Check the box in Gameplay Options where it says Elective Mode.
Now you can have any spells(s) AND in any button (mouse, 1, 2, etc...)
Cheers!
Oh, Prismatic armor is what I use. 40% resistance bonus is the rune I use for Force armor. More resistance makes the health go farther.
This will sound funny but it is items with attack speed % stat on them. I believe they are rings, glove, neck and weapons that can have that stat. The AH prices for items with attack speed are insane though.
nice. i like how you talk too. and that echo thing on your voice. you sound like a titan talking to the characters btw. sounds epic
Also "Cold Blooded" says that it increases the *cold* damage *dealt to chilled or frozen* monsters deals 20% extra damage, meaning that your Blizzard simply does... 230% instead of 210%. That's a waste of a passive.
Supposedly this only happened on the US servers because I read it on the forums and tested it out. It happened yesterday morning.
Damn bro, your pretty smart for coming up with a build this good. I wish i could have tried it out.
That's what I'm looking for, straight to the point answer! Thanks!
haa cool i was browsing around watched this vid and realized i had been scribed to you for a while now. checked out your malphite vid when i first started lol. great show bud as always keep em coming.

Not sure, but spell damage is probably calculated based on weapon damage and other stats.
It's elective mode! You can switch this on from the options.

OH MAN it's been a while. I tried that build once, was really fun.
Best thing about it is the Endlevel content. yo man ! thanks a lot ;D i had sooooo many problems. but iv tryede to go like in your video and HELL YE it works
Could you please make a video on whats the best build for a demon hunter please ?
That's the build I was going for and I thought I was the only 1 who thought of it. It was working great in hell on Friday. I had lower HP and more regen. Did they seriously nerf force armor since then?
I'm still using this build, while not invincible anymore, I am still doing way better than other people using this exact build. I'm stacking vitality, int, resists, and trying to stack health regen at the same time.
Published on "May 21, 2012" please read before you think he's trolling... this got nerfed but the world first Inferno Diablo kill was a Wizard using this build
main thing you need is better weapon for inferno, like 700+ dmg(one handed) or 1000+ two hander
I don't care who came up with this build, this is the vid I found and this is the vid that has made me enjoy playing D3 since I've made it to Inferno. Now I just need to get rid of all this damn vitality and get some better life regen stats ;-)
Thanks!

Nice video. Have you tried using Living Lightning on your Shock Pulse? Along with Magic Weapon: Venom + Critical Mass (Passive) I find that I can use Diamond Skin repeatedly. Have you tried this?
Go to Options, then Gameplay, and check the box beside Elective Mode.
you go into game options and select electives on
his guide is in the other videos
yes, cast speed is affected by your weapon, same with spell dmg
yes but it was hotfixed so it only does that if monter doesnt hit for more than your hp is.. so if you have 5k hp and monster hits 10k nothing can help you
I tried it and it worked fairly well in multiplayer; whenever the tanks left 1 or 2 bad guys behind, they'd go for my wizz and get killed, instead of hit-killing him. Reasons why it worked:
1) 4.7k HP and 2k+ HP/sec regen, so, basically, I get my wizz back to 100% within a sec.
2) Diamond skin.
HOWEVER, it's not efficient, and here's why:
1) Any DoT will instantly kill the wizard w/ this build, no matter what;
2) Any 1-2-3 hit will also kill the wizard w/ this build.
crystal skin extended duration doesn't mans hit if they do 10k dmg in one hit which they usually do that 8 secs is gonna be wasted
it's still ok. I suggest just getting some degree of health, still pretty easy to kite with. but I get 1 shot by any type of fireball or high dmg attack. I think all wiz still need force armour, just bit more HP and resist and will be fine.

@SloppySecondsFtw options>game play(or game settings, I forget) and check "elective mode." Now you can set any skill to any slot.
This is youtube gold! After reading your comment, this couldn't have happened to a better person!
go to option, gameplay and check elective mode.
Go to settings, gameplay, enable elective mode.
(Hate that I forgot to mention this in the other comment)
Though I will say Monks and Wizards will probably be the best survival characters, especially with Kormac. (Though, Gloom rune is still pretty awesome on Shadow Power, which basically with the rune means I take 65% less damage while 20% of my damage heals me...)

Looking for a great Monk build.
@colbycheeze nice video man, but noob question here, How did you assign your hotkeys to have more then one defensive ability? Can't figure it out lol
reading comments while video is playing. Haven't seen a "big red wall of text" explaining that this is an old build yet but smy202 is exactly right. Energy Armor: Force Armor has been patched to allow people to be one-shotted rendering this build obsolete.

Well so i will try to explain it,
Energy armor reduces all damage dealt to you which is greater than 35 % of your max life to 35 % of your max life,
So the thing with reg is, to keep your max life low and your reg high, so you can regain a high % of life fast, so if your reg is high, they allways hit you for just 35 % and you reg it up in some seconds, and they can hit your for 35 % again, while when your life is high and reg is low, it will take much longer to reg the 35 % back.
yeah... right... please make a video how u fight your way through inferno with a babarian i really want to see that
So now what do we do Colby since this has been nerfed what ever shall we do?
