I just finished hell on a barb and was looking for some class tips, came across your videos about 2 hours ago and got depressed you didn't make a gear related video. then 1 hour ago BAM you post this. very helpful. Thanks
I bet during his skype chat with Athene, that spreadsheet had all of this information and by that I mean most of his barb guides as of now, great respect for Kripp's knowledge and his generousity to share it.
Wow seeing this video made me realize I was in the right path all along. Thanks for the clear ranking of stats. This will certainly help me and a bunch of others!
I have been using your video's to better understand some of the more mathematical aspects of videogames (well, WoW a while back and now D3). It helps a lot, thanks! This was the drop that made me subscribe (:
431 is the armor value including the 221. The 162 is because one of his passives grants him armor based on 100% of his vitality, so 162 vit = 162 armor. each point of strength grants 1 armor. So in total, its 431 total armor in the bracer + 162 armor from the vitality, and 71 armor from the strength :)
Hey Krip, I took this video to heart and I was able to solo belial quite easily. I haven't had a chance to try Act 3, but I think it will go well. Good work and thanks! Hoosk
Thank you for this Great Video. I started Inferno Act 1 with my Barb. I have only ~7k to 10k Dmg avaliable. (Comparing to a Friend - Demon Hunter, 33k) and i just cried because i couldn't do anything, i tried to stack more Damage, because my friend just rushed thorugh act1. Now i changend my mind, my equipment and now i can clear Act1. Thank you again for your Help. It was a Video in the right moment before i rerolled to another Class !
Kripparrian! I love u vids man, I am in inferno with my barb atm and I have huge problems doing elites/champion packs, thanks for showing these awesome tips it really helps alot! Keep up the good work and keep on streaming! Btw I really think you should consider making a facebook group to make it easier for ppls to know when your stream is on. :)
Thanks a ton for these videos. After hearing all the crying on the forums that Inferno is "impossible" with a barb, I got kind've discouraged. Now I'm plowing through hell with a vengeance and omw to Inferno.
Hey Kripp, thanks for the upload. I'd be interested to see your 'details' window on the character tab in one of your videos. Keep up the good work, and gl in hardcore.
Kripp, is there any chance you could do a video on legendary items? which are good? which are bad? what are important things to look for in legendary items? are they better then rares or magical items and why? i really like your videos and promote you to all my friends. i think you have a very clear voice and get your point across with no bullshit. keep it up man.
You're forgetting that frenzy adds more damage as well as the constant revenge procs he's getting. He got to act 3 inferno, so it looks like it was adequate enough.
Thanks krip this is the video i have been waiting for. Not that it matters because i can only afford up to 200k worth of gear any time soon. What I would also love is a short scroll over of all your gear. You could do it in some other video while talking about other things.
Hey, i had the exact same problem 3 days ago. You really want to find a good spec that allows you to solo champion and rare packs in act 1 (to start with). I play demon hunter myself and i mainly go for damage (2h crossbow with crit dmg), but some resistance + vitality wont hurt either. I know they nerfed smokescreen, but i still think you should use that with preparation, it helped me a lot! Find your own spec and slowly work through those packs.
Thank you soo much for this. I've been trying to work out for ages just how much vitality and armour +1 all resistances will beat. Everyone says i need to get more resistance but i just haven't been able to work that out
-- you gotta do two things which Im working as well. firstly you gotta get a shield and make sure its block percentage is greater than 22%. also if you can make sure it has +Vit and +Res all on it. defense here needed big time. the next thing you gotta do is sacrifice some dps (strength) for more Res all. find items with +60 res all at the minimum. even blues. also in inferno you're not supposed to get hit that much. avoid all the wasps and their little bugs.
Could you specify the number for "resist all" that is considered good. What i mean is, at what point does it start diminishing completely? I'd like a mark to target. Apart from that great advice and tips thanks!
it will work trust him... i realised resistances were important before i saw this vid.. when i first went to inferno i had like 150-200 res to all, 7k armor, 40k hp, and 25k dmg, but i was getting my ass whooped all the time.. now i boosted my res up to 400(lowest)-600(highest), and my armor to 9k... i gave up about 20k 15k dmg and 10k hp but i just dont die anymore.. i'm using ignore pain(7 sec), revenge(30%), war cry(res), leap(armor), frenzy(sidearm) & ground stomp (24 yards pull stun).
Thanks a million man. I've been struggling like crazy with my barb since late hell mode. I dont even make money because I'm dying so much. and Now in inferno im just gettin my ass kicked left n right. But i've been stacking Str+Vit+armor. I don't even have any resist. Hope this works thanks :D
I'd assume to show the differentiation between a barb tank and a monk tank's resist priorities, being that a monk can stack a specific resist and bring the rest to the same level through their passive. /shrug
why is +armor in front of STR? wouldnt str be infront because it adds 1 armor per STR and damage at the same time? not tryin to correct the barb masta but wanna know b4 puttin down like 3 mil for a gear
Wow your so knowledgeable, I wish they had someone like you for a hunter. Can you help me understand what the stats priorty would be for hunters based on your knowledge of the game? It would really help me out a lot. Thanks man keep up the good work!
The way they work however, is kinda different to anything I have played before. the basics are obvious but the % scaling and so on I had no idea about, and the part about more resitance being available on gear was interesting. Because I didn't know that I should't play the game? And if i wasn't allowed to play the game I would have never known about them
Hey Kripp are you sure you are correctly counting armor? Your formula, given the example of your bracers, factors in the +armor value twice. To my knowledge the value shown on top already includes the +armor in die affix section
No, because 1 vit = 1 armor (with the passive, granting 1 armor per 1 vit). Therefore 10vit = 10 armor = 1 resist, where 10 int ONLY benefits you in terms of 1 resist all, 10vit equates to 1 resist-all AND a larger health pool, about ~400 health depending on you modifiers (which is key to the %healing abilities of a Barb).
I guess the armor from war cry doesn't take the armor from nerves of steel and tough as nails into account when it does the calculation. Even though it seems to only give +34% still. Is this one of those things that gets less on higher difficulties?
I tried following this guide and using a super defensive revenge-based build with 410 life/hit weapon, but with 5000 DPS many champion packs simply enrage before you kill them, and aren't exactly easy to tank. Are you sure this really is the best approach for soloing inferno with minimum amount of time/gear? I mean, it sure works for you with your gear, but it doesn't mean other approaches would not have worked better with equal quality gear or the same with lower quality gear. Your opinion?
assuming a piece of gear already had res all, vit, and armor... is there a single resist that you would possible prioritize over the other single resists? would it be prioritized over str? just based off of my assumptions from inferno thus far... i would probably guess fire res would be the most important, but i'm curious what you think.
Do you have +armor on any of your armor? I don't think for some reason that the +armor is buffed by talents/passives. Would be nice if someone looked into that.
Multiplicative: The first 20% reduces your damage from 100% to 80%, again still a 20% reduction. The second 20% reduces your damage taken from 80% to 64%, which is still a 20% reduction to the amount of damage you take. AKA the stat remains the same effectiveness no matter how much you stack.
Haters gonna hate! This guy is just like a BOSS! I watched his Hardcore Inferno Diablo Video many times and i just love it! This guy knows how to play!
Not to mention the 5k dps someone starting out gearing by this guide would have. I asked something similar earlier, still hoping for an answer. I cleared through all of act 2 with a kiting/damage wotb+eq+ip spec, but would get 1 shot on belial phase 3, and changing back to some more HP and defensive stuff I couldn't even get to phase 3 alive (as in, I need to go back to AH and get much much more HP and a lot less damage).
What's a good total resistance to aim for? If I have a full set of Chromatic of Valor gear, bringing my +res to about 1000 (after the +50%) and my +vit to 840, but with a +str of very little, should I dump off alot of that vit and get some str? Your video lists str as less important, but will I do too little damage? (With an 850-900 DPS weapon)
500 is nothing. I die constantly with 6k armor, 540 resists and 25k hp. Invested a ~2-3 mil in replacing some items with huge resist and stamina items with no strength on them and could then use the build to survive with 9.4k armor, 900 resists and 34k hp, but with only 500 dps i couldn't kill some packs before their enrage and even normal monsters took a while to kill. The real question is whether is is the best build to use to progress efficiently with minimum gear or not.
man, thank you so much, you are right, I've had a different mindset, I stacked dmg more than resistances and vitality etc. I was getting killed all the time in act 1, now it's quite easy My dps is 8.5k, resistances 900, armor 9,3k, vitality 47k. People, stop stacking dmg, stack defensive stats for Inferno
In my opinion dexterity is good, i mean it doesnt reduce dmg, its like that mob never hit you so you dont need to heal, for example: 10 hits and your dodgerate is at 30% so 7 of the hits will actually hit you and then 30% of the 7 is revenged and like 2.1 and if you are fighting against a few mobs your heal wont really help you out but dodge will.
hey quick question ... wouldn't you rate + strength more than +armor as each point of strength you get damage and armor as opposed to just armor? cheers
awesome, thank you for this ^^ i'm planning on, and currently, playing hardcore exclusively i haven't run through SC yet, my HC barb is actually higher level and better geared than my SC barb but any ways, if you remember, could you give rough estimates for good armor/hp/resists to have going into each difficulty and/or act if there is a significant change?
I really liked this video. Very well put together and informative. How ever my only question and im sure im going to be hated on for asking. But, i truely seek an answer, Why is it that all the videos i see of a barb for hell + inferno they are always using shields.. In your video you didnt really explain to much the pros and cons of the dual wielding over using a shield or 2h. Would someone please answer this for me
i see alot of barbs use enchantress as folower. is the cc / dps she provides better then the healing/ protection from the templar? ( for a solo barbarian i mean )
Question Kripp, i've been struggling a lot in inferno (demon hunter, not barb, but still) and i think if i just had better gear it would be SO much easier, namely, items with more defensive stats, so i'm not constantly one shot. How do you acquire so much amazing gear? and if its just from the AH, how is it that you have that much money? it seems like i never have enough for the things that i would truly like.
Wow yeah this guide helped me immensely. Thanks a ton. I bought a bunch of resist gear and have between 510-620 of every resist now and I can actually do stuff in Act 2 without falling over instantly so this is a win! Im dying to get my hands on a Stormshield though. One of the only legendaries that's worth getting. Also how does Physical Resist work? Does it stack with Armor or what? I have 62% Reduction from Phys Resist and 74% from armor so does that stack together for a total of 136% reduc?
Hi would this same logic be true when going into hell difficulty? I just got there today and snapped up a load of items from the AH with resist all and Vit but my stats feel really gimped right now. I think i am level 52 with 20% resist all, 60 % damage reduction, 24k hp and only 1.1k dps.
Kripp, can you point me towards and reliable Monk information? I'm currently sitting at level 52 and I'm rather unsure how to spec/stat prioritise for Hell.
Having Trouble debating Block % and Melee Reduction. My Shield Now: Armor: 915 Chance to Block: +13% Block Amount: 1960-2794 Stats: Int: +77 Physical Resist: +34 Resist All: +57 Life: +10% Health Gloves Grand +4075 Open Socket: +38 Vitality Gem I can't figure out how much better the stormshield is compared
I just finished hell on a barb and was looking for some class tips, came across your videos about 2 hours ago and got depressed you didn't make a gear related video. then 1 hour ago BAM you post this. very helpful. Thanks
If I'm not completely mistaken, there's an option called "Elective Mode" or something similar which will allow you to use whichever skills you want.

Actually a really decent guide for what you should think about when buying/keeping gear.
Love the way you explain things Kripp. Prob watch your vids/live stream more than actually play the game lol. Keep it up
Best video for a long time. Probably the best Barb video I've seen, thank you
You have just restored my faith in the barb. I retired my barb at 60 to build a wizard cause of act 2, but I'm gonna give it another chance.
Hey Krip,
I took this video to heart and I was able to solo belial quite easily. I haven't had a chance to try Act 3, but I think it will go well. Good work and thanks!

Thank you for the video! I think you are right here, stacking resists and vita is the most important for barbs. Than armor is important too.
Great video, concise, easy to follow, very informative. Thank you
Cobbe, you have to turn on detailed tooltips in your options to see them the way he does on his screen.
Man I wish there was a guide like this for witch doctors lol. Great job as usual sir.
yo dude. this was an awesome tutorial. made a huge difference to my game play... clear and well worded. thanks
Thanks for explaing all this Kripp.
I sure do have a better understanding of the game now!
Good luck on act 3 inferno!
Thanks a ton for these videos. After hearing all the crying on the forums that Inferno is "impossible" with a barb, I got kind've discouraged. Now I'm plowing through hell with a vengeance and omw to Inferno.
Thank you so much for this video. It made progressing inferno a whole lot easier for me.
THANKS Kripp, really glad you made this video! Appreciate it and have an awesome day!
Hey Kripp, thanks for the upload. I'd be interested to see your 'details' window on the character tab in one of your videos. Keep up the good work, and gl in hardcore.
Really useful video. I've just made my way into inferno and I must say this will help a lot. Thanks muchly.
Thank you for this video. I have been Rage-Quitting hard, I don't know how much more my Esc and Alt+F4 keys could handle.
Very interesting, thanks for the insight. Would love to see other classes explained the same way.
There was an annotation it is the first thing listed under the video "Published on May 23, 2012".
You're forgetting that frenzy adds more damage as well as the constant revenge procs he's getting. He got to act 3 inferno, so it looks like it was adequate enough.
It'd be nice to see another video like this that's viable for the last patch.
as a struggling barbarian... this is the greatest thing ever greated
Thanks krip this is the video i have been waiting for. Not that it matters because i can only afford up to 200k worth of gear any time soon. What I would also love is a short scroll over of all your gear. You could do it in some other video while talking about other things.
Quick question: +strength=armor, so why would +armor be ranked higher than +strength?

dude ur awesome im rly going crazy searching guides like this cause i found inferno hell hard ... ty !!^^
Thank you soo much for this.

Correct me if i'm wrong but I remember hearing he's originally from Romania, and now lives in Toronto,Canada
Could you specify the number for "resist all" that is considered good. What i mean is, at what point does it start diminishing completely? I'd like a mark to target. Apart from that great advice and tips thanks!
@z3rostar he mentioned in another video that he simply switches to a dps spec for Belial. This build is still very applicable.
it will work trust him... i realised resistances were important before i saw this vid.. when i first went to inferno i had like 150-200 res to all, 7k armor, 40k hp, and 25k dmg, but i was getting my ass whooped all the time.. now i boosted my res up to 400(lowest)-600(highest), and my armor to 9k... i gave up about 20k 15k dmg and 10k hp but i just dont die anymore.. i'm using ignore pain(7 sec), revenge(30%), war cry(res), leap(armor), frenzy(sidearm) & ground stomp (24 yards pull stun).
Thanks dude your awesome was starting to get fed up of dying will keep my eyes open now and see what happens
Thanks buddy!
Now i know what i wanna do with my barb. Your explanation is the best i got :) Keep it up.
Great video. Can you please make a video stating the cap on stats before they start dropping off?
I'd assume to show the differentiation between a barb tank and a monk tank's resist priorities, being that a monk can stack a specific resist and bring the rest to the same level through their passive. /shrug
why is +armor in front of STR? wouldnt str be infront because it adds 1 armor per STR and damage at the same time? not tryin to correct the barb masta but wanna know b4 puttin down like 3 mil for a gear

Thank you so much Kripp! This helped me a lot, because I sm struggling with act 2 on inferno ;)
Kripp has cleared every boss solo inferno.
not sure how rare it is or if they removed it, but the Bastion affix increases the armor of that item by 250-300%.

Wow, thanks Kripp! Really answered the questions I had about stats.
I guess the armor from war cry doesn't take the armor from nerves of steel and tough as nails into account when it does the calculation. Even though it seems to only give +34% still. Is this one of those things that gets less on higher difficulties?

yeah but since nobody goes for single res stat but instead for all resist stat, why even put a single resist stat in the scale?
How do you add the "Might Furious charge" as right click instead of the secondary skills which used to be there?
Found this video very helpful. Subbed. Currently on Nightmare as a 46 Barb.
Do you have +armor on any of your armor? I don't think for some reason that the +armor is buffed by talents/passives. Would be nice if someone looked into that.
Can you shed some light on how D3's combat table works (like maybe compared to WoW)? Is it a single or multiple roll system?
Multiplicative: The first 20% reduces your damage from 100% to 80%, again still a 20% reduction. The second 20% reduces your damage taken from 80% to 64%, which is still a 20% reduction to the amount of damage you take. AKA the stat remains the same effectiveness no matter how much you stack.
sorry for noob question....but why your skill doesn't have "RAGE"
but have 2 TACTICS instead
can we configure it ?
if yes please tell me how ?
Haters gonna hate!
This guy is just like a BOSS!
I watched his Hardcore Inferno Diablo Video many times and i just love it!
This guy knows how to play!
Not to mention the 5k dps someone starting out gearing by this guide would have. I asked something similar earlier, still hoping for an answer.
In Inferno you gain 35 'Life' per point of Vitality, so if you have 162 Vit that gives you 162x35=5670 'Life' - hope that helps.
I was getting killed all the time in act 1, now it's quite easy
My dps is 8.5k, resistances 900, armor 9,3k, vitality 47k.
People, stop stacking dmg, stack defensive stats for Inferno
Just one question: How do you keep yourself from dying from the "time is up" dot?
In my opinion dexterity is good, i mean it doesnt reduce dmg, its like that mob never hit you so you dont need to heal, for example: 10 hits and your dodgerate is at 30% so 7 of the hits will actually hit you and then 30% of the 7 is revenged and like 2.1 and if you are fighting against a few mobs your heal wont really help you out but dodge will.
resistance to all includes physical restistance, so why scale it lower?
This video saved my miserable life in inferno. Liked and subscribed.
hey quick question ... wouldn't you rate + strength more than +armor as each point of strength you get damage and armor as opposed to just armor? cheers
awesome, thank you for this ^^
i'm planning on, and currently, playing hardcore exclusively
i haven't run through SC yet, my HC barb is actually higher level and better geared than my SC barb
but any ways, if you remember, could you give rough estimates for good armor/hp/resists to have going into each difficulty and/or act if there is a significant change?
On the subject of weapon, is life on hit a very important stat as everyone says?
Hey dude, nice video! One question though: How come you value armor over strength when strength boosts both dmg and armor?
I really liked this video. Very well put together and informative. How ever my only question and im sure im going to be hated on for asking. But, i truely seek an answer, Why is it that all the videos i see of a barb for hell + inferno they are always using shields.. In your video you didnt really explain to much the pros and cons of the dual wielding over using a shield or 2h. Would someone please answer this for me
How would you built a barb to get fast through nightmare/hell?
How aggressive is still viable?
Nice video, ive seen abit of ur stream, nice that good players share some of their experience and knowlegde, cheers and keep it up!
Any change after patch 1.0.3? I saw many barb stack more atk and less def. So the tanking barb is not needed anymore?
Great video, thanks! A question though, would you say this is the way to go for monks too?(with dex instead of str ofc)
How did you adjust your might action key to furious charge? (Right mouse click)
where do i find guides or whatever for inferno witch doctors?
why would you want +armor over strength? doesn't one strength = one armor?
You have to be patient on AH, plenty of people sell stuff for cheap, you just have to sort through the pages, you'll get an amazing deal eventually
i see alot of barbs use enchantress as folower. is the cc / dps she provides better then the healing/ protection from the templar? ( for a solo barbarian i mean )
Question Kripp, i've been struggling a lot in inferno (demon hunter, not barb, but still) and i think if i just had better gear it would be SO much easier, namely, items with more defensive stats, so i'm not constantly one shot.
That's nice, I sent you a message about this just yesterday!
Thanks for doing this, it seems I was on the right track.. I just need more of it
Kripp, can you point me towards and reliable Monk information? I'm currently sitting at level 52 and I'm rather unsure how to spec/stat prioritise for Hell.
u said, it may take forever to kill mod but u dont die. is there way to have so much dmg ot kill mob before its able to deal dmg to you?
