As a current distance runner, I’d agree about everyone being super nice, like opposing teams will sometimes have great convos with eachother, warmup/cooldown together, stretch eachothers shins, share waters, etc. I do however disagree with this video, as running has a surprisingly larger impact on the other runners, as you can influence a little bit with trailing due to wind resistance (mostly only applicable for fast runners) but also just mental strength, one person running ahead of you will cause you to need to push more too which is why everyone always goes out too fast, whereas I try to ignore others til the end and overtake so many people in the second half (my pacing is within 4-5 seconds each mile from fastest to slowest mile)

I've been saying for years that football would be way more interesting if they released the real versions of the mascots onto the field during halftime so the players just had to deal with that on top of playing the game, but that would probably get dangerous so I see why they wouldn't. Alternatively, they should have a wheel of chaos where they spin it every certain number of minutes and have to add a new random rule that is on the wheel. That would be fun.
I Highly enjoyed the segment on soccer players, and as an American football player myself I will say there is a large variety in what players are like. Some guys will be the nicest guys you’ve ever met, but on the field they’ll knock your teeth out, some guys have been hit so many times they are just stupid, there’s the guys that think there all that but they are definitely not, and finally the guys that actually have the craziest work ethic I’ve ever seen.
Soccer is a lifestyle. You spend the entire week looking forward to the next game. Personally I play soccer, watch soccer, root for soccer, and live & die soccer.
I’m a basketball player and I actually agree with all of this. I actually don’t like watching sports, most of the time. And I appreciate you calling us chill lol
My favorite thing to do when a football game is playing with friends and family is to ask them who they're hoping to win and then actively support or make comments that are completely unfounded about their rival team like "The Cardinals have a really strong defense this season," or "Man, the Cowboys really practiced giving away interceptions this season, really well done." I genuinely don't follow sports at all but the look they give me is priceless. It's a sports team not your dog or cat.
I kind of do this but for music. I specifically love neo classical and classical music, most of my favorite music being derived specifically from video game soundtracks (NieR series is best btw). And whenever someone is talking to me about music that I just don't care for or are unfamiliar with, I say random shit that i know isn't true on the offchance I can hit a nerd nerve and make them rant on me a little. (Insert super famous pop culture rock music that clearly isn't ACDC) "ah heck yeah this one of ACDC's best songs!" Stuff like that. I also try to go for misnaming singers. This gets especially entertaining with my dad or anyone else with a tone of talk-downage revolving around their "legendary musicians". Then it becomes an almost pissing contest of who can talk down harder on the others music, which I love because people perceive classical music fans as snobbish, proud assholes that talk down on all other forms of music. So that let's me really lean into it and just tick them off with maximum snobbery.

As a South African, I have never heard or thought of ostrich racing being a thing done here 😂. I know it can be a tourist attraction at ostrich farms in the Great and Little Karoo regions in the Western Cape province, but never as a sport😂. If Tugg talked about rugby, then watch all the Saffas flock to your channel. We just won the Rugby World Cup in France for the 4th time, and it was back to back 🏉🇿🇦

I think I like sports because it’s together time. We watch games/matches together, my dad and I. We get to talk about the game and make little guesses and wince at the same gruesome injuries. It’s an escape for both of us and time to just see eye to eye.
I love how the hockey/lacrosse comparison can be used for absolutely any group of people. “(__) and hockey players are basically the same people, just one is (__) and the other one’s playin hockey.”
Can't stand to watch soccer. It's a constant stream of faked injuries, grown men thrashing around, gnashing teeth, whining like babies, feigning tears, clutching their supposed injury, rocking back and forth, screaming, pointing emphatically at their opponent to get the ref's attention, howling like their grandmother just died. Ref's whistle blows. Then two seconds later, they stand up and continue playing as if nothing happened. That's literally the entire game. Nothing else happens. It's 100% just that.
I used to yell at the TV, and the family was yelling too (we were into hockey). The reason we did that, was mostly for our enjoyment. Like, we know the players don't hear it, but we mostly just shout out to let the other family members know, what we think about something happening in the game. I used to play hockey, and oh boy there are a bunch of crazy people loving that sport 😂. I quit hockey, mostly because of how competitive it got, and as you said, most of the people were complete douchebags 😅 Edit: 9:31 I actually didn't know that my country made that sport 😅
I always thought it was dumb how people get deeply upset to the point of fighting about something they have no stake in and even less controll over. I go watch hockey to see boys fight on the ring and have a vague idea of where the flat black ball is and I'm just happy someone wins at the end lol
As a sports fan I think you get a pass for these comments. Also the thoughts on the people who are huge fans of college sports that went there 30 years ago is spot on! 😂
If you want to make another weird sports video, you should check out the Swiss sport called Hornussen. It’s like crazy mountain golf where people are out on the field trying to hit the ball out of the air. And the „club“ is like 10 ft long and ultra flexible so that they have to let the head of the club circle around them multiple times to keep from getting hit in the face.
Soccer is the only sport I like. I use to play it in middle school but then I found out I have heart issues and I had to quit… I wish I could have continued soccer and gotten a scholarship for college or something but now I’m a dumb college student in pastry arts
Tugg, as a TV yeller and a video game enthusiast, I think I can explain that one in a way you understand. Obviously, I know that no one on the field can hear me. In fact, the only people who can are my downstairs neighbors who probably hates me, and my dog who is now terrified of Sundays. However, it’s not about that. It’s about the primal urge to make noise about things you’re passionate about, and the childlike urge to throw a tantrum when things don’t go your way. I know you play videos, and you cannot honestly tell me you’ve never screamed at your glorified TV screen and teammates who absolutely cannot hear you, all while knowing your frustration will not improve their gameplay at all. I do both because I’m an asshole who hates having friends.
As a sports fan, great video! I try to catch myself before yelling at the TV but I’m guilty of it sometimes 😂 But after the game even if they lose I’m the ‘Let’s rebound next week!’ Type of guy

Also my boyfriend is the nerd version of TV yeller. He watches videos of people playing magic the gathering and yells out what moves they should do. They can't hear you buddy...
And sports fans often dress up every single week, which is way more often than other nerds.
I mean that does sound interesting, but also too gimmicky
@@cchocolacola I'd be entertained by the new chaos, even if it is a little gimmicky lol
😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
I’d like to see Stanford vs Ohio state haha
I Highly enjoyed the segment on soccer players, and as an American football player myself I will say there is a large variety in what players are like. Some guys will be the nicest guys you’ve ever met, but on the field they’ll knock your teeth out, some guys have been hit so many times they are just stupid, there’s the guys that think there all that but they are definitely not, and finally the guys that actually have the craziest work ethic I’ve ever seen.
Soccer is a lifestyle. You spend the entire week looking forward to the next game. Personally I play soccer, watch soccer, root for soccer, and live & die soccer.
6:35 Bro the dumbass part got me
I’m a basketball player and I actually agree with all of this. I actually don’t like watching sports, most of the time. And I appreciate you calling us chill lol
As a sports fan who yells at the tv you are completely correct yet I can’t stop 😅
Sports is live story telling. If you look at it from the perspective of a serialized drama it's much more compelling
Thats why i just go to my local courthouse during the superbowl. Much more compelling narrative.

@@lordmuhehe4605The thing about Arsenal is that they always try to walk it in.
@@lordmuhehe4605 don’t take it so seriously...
Im stealing that
I kind of do this but for music.
(Insert super famous pop culture rock music that clearly isn't ACDC) "ah heck yeah this one of ACDC's best songs!"
Stuff like that.
@@TheCompleteMental it's a lot of fun...for the person doing it not them so be aware of potential ramifications like them getting upset.

Honestly grateful to have a husband who gives zero sh1ts about sports. I kinda keep track of the local teams on socials but that's about as far as I go. Wasn't sporty ever in my life, my stoner husband was on the high school golf team, and both kids don't gaf about sports, lol. But this video was legit.
Is that y'all on your pfp? Adorable, couple goals! 😭

working in sports while being a sports fan is a whole other beast. there’s the weird little part of you that’s like “hey i can’t act like a gremlin cos these people know me” fighting against the little beast voice going “shout at the ref and all of the players.”
not to mention the weird ability to yell and then seamlessly slip back into conversation like you didn’t just do that
all in all big fan of bringing my non sports friends with me just to give them the chance to laugh at me

We just won the Rugby World Cup in France for the 4th time, and it was back to back 🏉🇿🇦
8:30 yeah people are crazy down here
As a South African I completely agree and I did not know that we did ostrich racing and that is messed up.
As a marching band kid who has to sit through hundreds of football games, I agree
I am currently enjoying a public holiday long weekend in Victoria, Australia; said holiday is for the AFL grand final (Aussie rules football), so the timing of this vid is *chef's kiss* 😘🤌
Thanks for (subconsciously) thinking of us Tugg, it makes up for us mob always having to wait until Sat for your uploads 🫶🇦🇺
Yo, we have the same in Queensland for the NRL so that people can get drunk on monday, the day after the grand final.
Man I love these seamless brand integrations. The way he just eases us into the promotion is just amazing 😂
I highkey want a big tugg video on him just taking about adventure time like a nerd.
i want him to complain about how the show shouldve stayed light hearted cus i couldn't keep up after it got all serious
2:04 "...something for someone to do who peaked in that same parking lot 20 years ago."
brutality worse than MK
Can't stand to watch soccer. It's a constant stream of faked injuries, grown men thrashing around, gnashing teeth, whining like babies, feigning tears, clutching their supposed injury, rocking back and forth, screaming, pointing emphatically at their opponent to get the ref's attention, howling like their grandmother just died. Ref's whistle blows. Then two seconds later, they stand up and continue playing as if nothing happened. That's literally the entire game. Nothing else happens. It's 100% just that.
And somehow maintains such a huge fan base too. I will never get the appeal
I quit hockey, mostly because of how competitive it got, and as you said, most of the people were complete douchebags 😅
Edit: 9:31 I actually didn't know that my country made that sport 😅
Couldn’t you just like… say it to them in a normal tone?
@@blakemcmillan5680 I mean, yeah, but if it's in a VERY intense moment, it's kinda hard lol.
I always thought it was dumb how people get deeply upset to the point of fighting about something they have no stake in and even less controll over. I go watch hockey to see boys fight on the ring and have a vague idea of where the flat black ball is and I'm just happy someone wins at the end lol
7:24 don’t play it, but it watch and it’s so true in my case
As a sports fan I think you get a pass for these comments. Also the thoughts on the people who are huge fans of college sports that went there 30 years ago is spot on! 😂
If you want to make another weird sports video, you should check out the Swiss sport called Hornussen. It’s like crazy mountain golf where people are out on the field trying to hit the ball out of the air. And the „club“ is like 10 ft long and ultra flexible so that they have to let the head of the club circle around them multiple times to keep from getting hit in the face.
At 3:38 ao far no mention of motorsports directly.
soccer with contact is just rugby lad
Soccer is the only sport I like. I use to play it in middle school but then I found out I have heart issues and I had to quit… I wish I could have continued soccer and gotten a scholarship for college or something but now I’m a dumb college student in pastry arts
L health conditions.
@@coolman3074 Yeah health conditions suck lol
This is the realest thing I’ve ever read wtf
As a sports fan, great video! I try to catch myself before yelling at the TV but I’m guilty of it sometimes 😂 But after the game even if they lose I’m the ‘Let’s rebound next week!’ Type of guy
As a basketball player I can confirm most of us are pretty chill. Except for that one person who keeps shit talking everyone on the team while simultaneously being the reason we have to run lines because they can't get make a single layup during a simple drill 🙄
I forgot how much I enjoy these videos. It’s so nice to hear my own opinions spoken in a convincing way and in a video that makes me laugh
I’m starting to notice a trend. The people who hate sports the most are usually the people who play a lot of games or watch anime.
@@coolman3074 I don't watch anime or play a lot of video games, but I am a musical theatre nerd and spend most of my time reading fantasy novels so take from that what you will
As A South African I can 100% Confirm that We Also don't know what's going on and we are losing our minds
I don’t really care about sports, but my family does. My parents and grandparents love baseball (specifically the Cubs, yes I stayed up and watched them win the World Series but that was because I wanted to hang out with my dad), my parents and one set of grandparents love soccer (because of Ted Lasso), and my parents are *obsessed* with F1 racing.
I could care less but I like checking up with them, so I just ask things like “How goes the sports ball?”, “Are the right people winning?”, “Cars go fast?”, etc. I don’t really understand, but it’s nice to see them happy.
Unless it’s one of my grandpas who is way too into baseball. He is a TV yeller. Also a douche and a bad husband but that’s beside the point.
Paintball got its first world tournament this year so I'm hoping that paintball will start to get big as a new sport and we'll have a nice fun new sport
I live 10 minutes away from MSU, you'd be surprised how many 45 yo's with alumni bumper stickers show up to every game. They are hard stuck in the past.
All the kids at my school are under the impression that weightlifting is a sport….. it’s not. I’m sorry that you were led to believe that. But it’s not. Womp Womp.
As someone who runs competitively, it is not a sport, just a free way to get fit 😂
“I don’t know why there’s a goat carcass involved, but there’s a goat carcass involved” is now my new favorite missing-context quote. I’m going to do my best to drop it into conversations just as someone is entering hearing range for maximum ‘wtf’ vibes.

The irony of him criticizing Draft Kings, then getting a sponsorship from them is crazy
1:33 I went to an nhl game on Monday and the person in front of me was screaming at my team to shoot the puck, while playing Pokémon go
Went to a baseball game once. How in the actual fuck do you guys sit on a metal bench in 80 degrees for like 5 hours. I cried.
"I'm not into sports"
Oh damn, that's crazy, I couldn't have guessed
I never realized it before this video but yeah, why are runners ''competing'' against each other? Nothing you do affects what everyone else is doing at all. And this is actually true in every racing sport where there are lanes like swimming and horse racing!
I use to feel the same about people shouting at the screen, until I realized I do the same shit “sometimes” when I’m gaming
As a kid I never cared about watching sports but I eventually started watching to bond with family
I am a proud TUGGLET
At this point sports are like politics💀
