Cats are the pet you need to have to discover your love for them but even then you cant comprehensively explain why you love them and sound sane at the same time to non-cat owners
For famous cats, there was a cat named "Unsinkable Sam" during WW2 where he started out in a famous German warship named Bismark. No one know who brought him but his name was actually Oscar but it changed later on. When Bismark sank almost everyone on board died, Sam survived. And was found on a plank in the water by the UK. So Sam went on another warship but this time for the UK. After a while that UK warship also sank, this time half on board died, Sam survived. He was again found on a plank in the water. So the UK decided to send Sam on ANOTHER warship and named him "Unsinkable Sam". And guess what, again the warship also sanked. This time not that many people died, Sam survived. And can you guess where they found him? That's right on a plank in the water. But this time Sam was quoted "Very unpleased when found". So this cat survived 3 warships sinking and was moved to the UK government office where he lived his days in peace. Away from war, and away from water.
12 good things about cats in no particular order: 1. Really soft 2. Their weirdness is unbelievably hilarious, they sleep weirdly in weird places, bolt from the room for no reason, look dumb when they're playing, etc 3. Purring - such a warm comforting sound, also apparently good for bones 4. Light and easy to pick up 5. 100% authentically themselves, don't fawn/people please - just who they are all the time 6. Groom themselves (unless bred to need grooming) & so their fur tends not to smell even when wet 7. So many cute/funny noises 8. Dont seriously hurt people. Even if it's not their fault, dogs do kill people every year. 9. Rubbing against you/lying on your lap feels so nice 10. They blink at you slowly to show they love you 11. Just crazy impressive sometimes - run so fast, jump so high, do crazy yoga stretches 12. There are trends to cat behaviour but every cat you meet will be an exception to the rules in multiple ways e.g. instead of dead mice, my friend's cat brings home scratch cards (scratch off cards)
The best thing about the reason why cats bring you mice, is that they care about you enough that they’ll hunt for you too. And I think that’s really sweet
Being “chosen” by a cat is one of the greatest things you can experience. When I was at the shelter where I got my cat she let me put her on my lap and INSTANTLY started purring. It was amazing. Something about having a small fluffy creature who lays on you and purrs does make you feel better about the world.
It also helps that it's a ferocious, evolutionarily unparalleled killing machine that wants nothing more than to love you and cuddle and make you feel better when you're sad.
My cat chose me and he’s just a silly guy who is not very smart and loves to scream. And the only way to calm him down is by listening to slipknot or mitski. Why? I am not quite sure
I own a cat with my wife and she loves me so much more than her. Once when my wife was holding her, she reached out for me, and then crawled out of her arms and into mine. It was the cutest and meanest thing I've ever witnessed, which really is the essence of owning a cat.
Cats have a strong preference for men, because men are real and appreciate cats for what they are and are honest. Women use cats as a baby substitute and it's a pathetic sight to see; women who dote on cats that hate them. Not that no woman has ever had a strong bond with a cat, but the vast majority do not and cats by and large prefer men unless a man abused them.
@@j.r.mocksly5996google is free :) cats tend to prefer female owners due to the amount of attention they get, actually! But it all depends on how you treat your cat, and how your cat behaves, and your gender doesn’t actually matter too much.
Our kittens alerted us to a huge hole in the wall behind the fridge we had no idea about (we just bought the house, and the hole behind the fridge was missed in our inspection). It was a scary time before we could get it fixed.
Got a new kitten and that's what happening. The old lady already has a habit of where she goes but the kitten is more daring. Tore up the apartment one day looking for him and he spawns behind me.
My cat kept me alive, not even with her affection. Just the thought of “I can’t die I have to feed Freyja she’ll be all alone” was enough. 3 cats later, it is safe to say that my depression is now mild.
If you would have gotten a dog it would have had the same effect but you'd also have a reason to go outside and touch grass which has been proven to help with depression
My cat saved my life. I was suicidal because I had convinced myself I was worthless, hurt people, and made the world a worse place. Then, he came up and headbutt me and laid on my chest and I thought "well, he'd be sad if I was gone, and if everything goes to shit, I can still make a positive impact by opening a cat shelter"
Even if you can't open a cat shelter, there's this community service called TNR you can look into to help feral cat populations. Usually it's completely free, minus the time investment.
I heard a story once about a person who was about to jump off of a building to commit suicide, but snapped back into reality when their cat rubbed up against their legs and one of the comments was “the cat gave you one of its nine lives”
7:05 is SO true. I was a total cat hater before but then my college roommate had a cat for an ESA and my eyes were OPENED. I had no idea how cool, loving, goofy, and wonderful cats were until I interacted with that cat. Ever since then, I’ve wanted to get a cat and have to struggling to convince my dog loving parents to let me get a cat (they would totally love the cat, they just don’t know it yet). But the point is, you really truly don’t understand why cats are so incredible unless you’ve actually, genuinely interacted with them.
I feel like part of the stigma comes from dog-lovers who can't handle an animal that isn't instantly "loyal" to whoever is willing to pet/feed it. You have to work to earn a cat's trust, and dogs-only people often take this really personally and say "Cats are assholes." No, cats can just sense your insecure vibes and don't want any part of it. I really hate how dog-only people shit-talk cats. The worst thing my cat can do to me is leave scratches, and that's if I'm purposefully being a dick to her, which I would never do. The worst thing your pit bull can do is force a child to have reconstructive surgery (or a funeral) for the sin of "standing too close" to it or whatever BS. Dog attacks are one of the top causes of ER visits for little kids. Pretty sure "cat attacks" don't even make the list. I hate the excuses they make up when dogs attack innocent bystanders. A 57-year-old woman was killed by a pit bull in my state recently. Her crime? Walking home from her neighbor's house. I've seen so many comments literally shitting on and blaming her, making up fanfic where "I bet she was taunting it." Nope, just an unleashed, untrained animal with an irresponsible owner, and since the pandemic it seems dog owners like this are everywhere now, dragging their fake, untrained "ESA" dog into stores and triggering allergies, making messes, etc. while also making it harder for actual service dogs to work.
Maybe I’m just a old ass gen x who doesn’t get jokes but they do love you! I watched a whole bbc documentary about the secret life of cat! Cats have oxytocin the love hormone so they can and do love you!
I saved my cat from an abandoned litter. He was 2 days old, didn't even have his eyes open yet, and the rest of the litter was dead. My bond with him is on another level. I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm his actual dad
Cute and awesome! But you wouldn't want him/her to think if you as their actual dad. Because then they'd forget about you and leave. Better to be super cool loving owner. They remember that.
@@Crimzon-There are a multitude of reasons your cat is being a jerk to you. Do some research. Put in some work. The common denominator is you, so work on you. Cats aren't plush toys; they're living animals with emotions. Figure out why your cat hates you. There's probably a reason.
@@LinksBetweenDrinks I got him off my uncle and I’ve been trying my hardest but the little asshole won’t let anyone near him. It’s also not just about, some breeds are more social and friendly, while others are isolationist and violent.
So was mine. She'd come lay with me when I was sick, comfort me when I was crying and just really patient with little kid me. It's been over 11 years since she passed at the ripe age of 21 and I still miss her sometimes. Thankfully, I have my new girls now and I love them to bits ❤
@@LaikasFriend My mom did name him after Hocus Pocus! He was a black cat with long fur and teeth that stuck out like fangs 😊He passed when I was pretty young but I still remember how sweet he was. I have two cats of my own now who I just adore and couldn't imagine not having them ❤
i think one of the best parts about having a cat is when they walk up to you snd you make the little noises or say their name in a certain way and they start walking towards you faster or when you’re doing something and they stand next to you and you look at them and they look at you and you can like just feel the love for this little creature in your heart i mean cats are so awesome
Absolutely! When im folding clothes, my cat will come lay on the bed and just watch/stare at what im doing with this intrigue in his eyes like an adorable little baby!
I agree with everything you said. Except “buy a cat” you can definitely get them for free. My kitten literally walked into my house when kids were trick or treating last Halloween. The trick was on me. Her name is Trix. She’s just got her claws stuck in my leg. I guess I should feed her.
My parents' 2 cats currently were found. 1 wandered into our yard, 1 was found in the gutter while my dad was on patrol. 1 of my 2 cats was found in a wall of an apartment during construction. So yes I agree, doesn't always have to cost money. In fact the other of my 2 cats is defective as hell and if I didn't lose the dang receipt Id want my money back 🙄
Literally how it happened with me. My roommate and I were just chilling outside one morning, smoking a joint and then out of nowhere this Tabi Kitten just comes up to us and starts yeowling like we can speak his language. It was decided then and there that it was meant to be, and we still have over 10 years later and in entirely different state now!
I’ve always been a dog person but I got adopted by a ginger cat about two months ago. He followed me home and just decided that I was taking care of him now. He’s funny in his own way and very chill.
I’ve lived with cats my whole life, I think thats why I’m great with kids. Basically the same thing, they love you, and then they have a breakdown, they both ruin things, and are messy. Sometimes you’ll just end up with one you didn’t want, but you end up loving it. And you still have to feed them
That's how I ended up with my cat, I was actually gonna get a dog but we ended up cat sitting the kittens that lived in my sister's friend's shed and now I have smudge I guess
More reasons to get a cat, by naming things my cat - Zara - does: 1. When she enters a room I am in, she waits until I say "Hi, baby./Hi, Zara." to fully enter the room. honestly, her doing that has made me more aware of my surroundings, somewhat. 2. Zara follows me EVERYWHERE. The kitchen, the livingroom, the BATHROOM. I haven't been lonely in 4 years. 3. She watches TV with me and responds to my side commentary. 4. She's warm and lays on my legs or chest. It warms me up during the winter. 5. Petting a cat is instant serotonin and Zara loooooves head scratches and shoulder scratches. 6. Every time I'm sad, even when she isn't in the room, she appears a few minutes later and will just stare at me. I am no longer sad in that moment. 7. I need to buy her tick and flea + deworming meds every couple months so every couple months I get to go toa pet store. This cat indirectly allows me to see more bunnies, lizards, snakes, and hamsters. A big plus. 8. I am scared of moths and Zara eats them. Why? I have no idea. They cannot be that delicious, but I will not question her on it. 9. Thanks to Zara, I know where my hairties are: under my bed. She hides them there, but, hey, I know where they are. 10. I can tell how good of a person is by whether or not Zara would come near them. My ex? Zara did NOT like him. Ex friends? She avoided them like the plague. She can sense the vibes. get a cat. it's the best decision ever.
idk about ‘vibes’ as spiritual phonies think of it, but i side with the comment. they definitely can sense a vibe- and that is to say that they’re really mature and smart at picking up on nonverbal cues of people. if they’re chill, respectful, imposing or entitled, greedy or kind, all of that. cats are scrutinising and they are objective with it. if a cat approves of you- good job you win
@@HavingCrumpetsIf you think of it like being psychic, yeah. However cats are very good at reading nonverbal cues and body language, so there's a very real possibility they're picking up on something that we either can't, or are overlooking for one reason or another.
My drama teacher had a cat named “fathead”. He took him to the vet once, and they called for a “mr head” - implying that they thought this cat’s name was straight up just “fat” and they were totally chill with it.
Our cat once got run over by a car, and by some miracle, survived it. While probably looking like a pancake, he crawled back home in to the basement, where we found him. We rushed to the vet and he made it out alive. I'm incredibly proud of him for not being dead.
I stumbled upon a sickly kitten in the middle of nowhere. I took her to the vet, she was treated and became my foster fail. Polly is almost four years now, she was my light during the worst episodes of BPAD, she knows exactly when I’m not ok and doesn’t leave my side until I recover. I always had dogs before her, and for me both are gift to humanity we didn’t deserve.
My running theory with my new kitten is that she was meant to be a breeder cat, but since she's intersex the breeders threw her and her little sister (the runt) out. She's a mane coon ragdoll mix and extremely cute. Her name is Lydia Deetz. Edit: I googled it, cats increase dopamine the same amount that social media does. So you're probably addicted to your cat. And I am, she's lovely.
That . . . makes a lot of sense. Especially when you think about how many cat pictures, memes, and videos are on the internet compared to anything else??
@@lauranolastnamegiven3385 she's only about 10 weeks old right now but her hair is already very thick. She does have a great personality but she never stops talking, she's about 3 and 1/4 pounds
To add to the cat history bit, I remember learning in class one day about one of the oldes known named cats in history. In the 9th century, an Irish monk wrote this cute little poem about his cat Pangur Bán (meaning something like 'pure white' if I remember correctly) in which he compared his hunt for mice with his own "hunt" for wisdom to write in the manuscripts. It was such a cute and intimate view into this random monk's bond with his cat and I never forgot it.
One of the things I love about cats is that you don’t even need to look hard to find them. Just find one on the street or around your house and suddenly you have a new baby to love and care for (checking for microchips of course). They just choose to love you and I think that is just so beautiful
I also was an avid dog lover who acquired a cat somewhat against my will. My dog passed away and a cat showed up and started sleeping in my doorstep. I took her to the vet and she was basically just mine after that. And now I love her and do everything I can to be a good first time cat owner ❤️
Used to be a dog person until I started working as a delivery driver. That’ll change your opinion of them pretty quick. Then I saw a picture of a cat that was at a local animal shelter. Right when I saw his face, I submitted my application. Love the shit out of this cat so much I made him the mascot of my band and wrote a song about him. It’s easily our most popular song.
My cat 100% saved my life. When I was in an incredibly dark place, she made me feel so loved, and I got myself out of bed every morning because I knew that I had to be there for her It's amazing to think I found my little soulbound familiar as a scrawny stray in the Georgia woods. Cats are the best, man
i baby(cat)sat my uncle's cat for a week and omg. she wasnt the most affectionate cat, she was a scaredy cat and would get owerwhelmed in the middle of playing and run away. but just the structure she provided me helped my mental health a lot. from checking her bowl to changing her water and cleaning her litter box everyday i'd have something to do everyday so it helped me get out of bed more easily. and the occasional pets were great too because i too would get overwhelmed like her lol.
My mitzi is similar, I was on the edge of taking my life on my 18th birthday. My heart was so broken from the loss of my three cats that finally enough time passed and I asked them for another cat that day and thus we did. Ended up with a yearling tabby mix, I still remember looking at the ceiling fan while laying on the floor and thinking "at least if I go this cat has a safe home with memoirs of me" when she came right to me and layed on my chest beginning to purr... I had never been comforted quite like that. I finally fessed up I needed help later, I had made an oath that night to be her best friend it'll she crosses the bridge. I wouldn't change a thing about her!
I call my cat my familiar, too! She’s light gray and she follows me around like a little second shadow, I actually had to put a collar on her so I would stop kicking/tripping over her 😂
A fun little story about my oldest cat: I got him in 2016 when he was just a kitten. He was so small and so fluffy. It was storming out, and he was scared, but I held him the whole way home. He’s been by my side for 7 years now, and I cannot express my love for him. I used to get horrible migraines, and when I ended up puking, he’d always curl up next to me and lick my face. He cuddles with me every night. He’s a little sweetheart and he absolutely loves yogurt. He has horrible anxiety, but always knows he’s safe around me. He absolutely adores my other cats. Constantly playing with them and licking their fur. He lets my maine coon use him as a pillow. He’s a domestic long hair and he’s completely blonde. He’s genuinely the best little creature to have ever come into my life. He is so unbelievably gentle. I’ve never heard him hiss or growl, and he doesn’t bite and never purposely scratches you. He has a high pitched meow and it’s the cutest thing you’ll ever hear. Apologies for writing a whole essay about my cat- make sure to give your pets so much love, and cherish them while they’re still here. They love you just as much as you love them🫶
Cows milk and dairy products is actually not good for cats, so pls make sure the yogurt is made with safe ingredients for them! /nm Your cat sounds like such a sweetheart /gen
I read it all because I have felt the same things with many of my cats over the years of my life. They really are a joy. Like a blessing or a Godsend. I've rescued, raised, and rehomed over 50 feral kittens since 2010. My one and only cat is 14 years old and on the last legs of her life just because she is a purebred Ragdoll which means she is already completely deaf, she's pretty dumb, but now old age is hitting her like a truck and she has COPD and feline asthma making breathin difficult. I just have to give her her inhaler 6-8 times a day now, but she is able to live relaxed and without stress still. So long as she is not suffering and I can keep her at ease, I'll cherish every moment I have left with her by my side like she has been for the past 14 years.
That's so sweet. My cat bit my face when I was crying. I thought he was coming to comfort me but no. He just sat on me, purred a little bit, and then bit my face. I love him tho.
@@hesterwright3674 You're not giving him what he wants or he has a hard past. Cats operate like men with no boundaries or rules, so they are a good test for women of how well they know men. Also a good test for men of how well they know themselves. Women tend to terribly misunderstand cats, though a minority of women are good with cats. Same as men really.
Owning a cat has actually scientifically been proven to give you the same level of emotional fulfillment as a romantic relationship. Take that cat haters.
my cats knew how to play fetch right out of the box, and one of them is far cuddlier than any of the dogs I’ve had. Bonus point for the cats being small/light enough that when they walk on you it doesn’t hurt, it’s just kind of endearing.
It’s probably the uniqueness and independence of their personalities that makes taking care of a cat fulfilling, and being chosen by a cat so much more of a privilege.
A famous cat you might not know about is Nitama, former stationmaster of the Wakayama station in Japan. While she has since passed on, she has two living successors (one of whom who manages a different station) AND her local shrine has promoted Nitama to patron god of the Wakayama train station. (Look it up, you won’t be disappointed)
You’re thinking of Tama! Nitama is her successor. There are a grand total of 4 cat stationmasters (past and present), with Sun-tama-tama and Yontama being the other two! :3
As long as you regularly clean & replace the litter box, you won't have an issue with offensive odors lingering. I mean If they pinch off a real grumpy you'll know at the time, but humans also have that problem. Mixing in baking soda also helps to deodorize boxes, so that's a nifty little hack.
yes, and use pine pellets with a sifting tray. seriously the only way to go, doesn't smell at all. i will never use anything else now. occasionally also clean actaul tray with vinegar and there is zero smell.
my cat died april this year, she was only 4 years old, but when we first got her from the shelter, it was my tenth birthday. i picked maybe three cats i liked but she was the only one that purred and she let my 3 year old brother pick her up and played with him. she was my best friend and genuinely saved my life at one point. she was my baby and it was horrible to see her go so young, i loved her and always will.
The same thing happened with my cat he just turned 5 when we put him down because of kidney failure the day before mothersday. He meowed alot like he was talking to you, followed me everywhere and always had to have his fish toy right beside him 24/7. He is my best friend and I miss him sooo much.
You filled her whole life with love and care, she loved you deeply. You did good by her and she'll always be part of your memories. I'm sorry for your loss
I once had a cat that accidently got transported over 60 miles away when we sold our boat while she was sleeping inside of it. One month she showed up at our door a little thinner and acting like she never left. The happiest day of childhood was waking up to my sister telling me my childhood pet came home after a month of accepting that she was either dead or never coming back. There wasn't a day that went by that I regretted with that cat in my life, not one.
@@ArgenteonYT It's gotta be the boat buyers brought the cat back to them. There's no way a cat would recognize 60 miles of locations they've never been in before, nor know the way back through it. Not even with heightened smell.
@@RNG-999 I mean, that would be a weird thing to do a month later? Also we contacted the buyers later to ask if they noticed the cat or saw her at any point and they didn't find any sign of her in the area besides some cat fur in the bottom of the boat. It was because of the fur they found that we assumed she was napping inside of it when it was sold. But yeah, theres a chance she might have hopped out sooner than at their house 60 miles away if they ever slowed at an intersection long enough for her to leave. Regardless though, I think it was safe to say she wasn't being taken care of by anyone because despite being alive she was still noticeably thinner than when she left. At the end of the day no matter how far she went I was just happy she cared enough to make it back~
@@ArgenteonYT I can only assume, there wasn't really much else she could have done and my parents had no reason to lie to us about that as we had lost pets that got found later by strangers or at shelters many times before. Hers was a first though
You can’t train cats to stop doing things, but you can train cats to do some epic things. One of my cats knows to hit piano keys when she’s hungry (I regret this) and the other comes to the sound of an ocarina
This is building on instinctive behavior more than actual training, but if I tell my cat Miss to "get the bug" she will immediately start looking for a bug on the floor if I pat the floor or in the air if I point up. She is a mighty hunter.
@@silly_little_lykoi fucking how though? what biological process does that work by? like I could just say the tune of country roads has been shown to help aid in wound healing and reducing inflammation too.
I too never liked cats until I met one drunk in a Circle K parking lot one night. He had been abandoned. It's only been 2 years and now I have an entire channel dedicated to cats and helping cats. It's insane.
I got 4 cats; one from an ex, a stray from my work, a possibly abandoned from a coworkers house, and another abandoned from my work. They each have their own littler personalities that makes them extremely unique yet they love all the same. I got one on my lap as I’m typing this.
I was lucky enough to meet Stubbs the Cat on a trip to Alaska! Walked into the general store to get a soda, and there was this big tan cat chilling on a pallet full of cans. Naturally I went up to it for pets and scritches, and when I asked the cashier what the store’s cat’s name was she said “oh that’s Stubbs, he’s also the Mayor!” They had souvenir tshirts with Stubb’s face on them and everything. RIP Stubbs.
Fun fact: the reason why cats sit on your chest and scream to wake you up is because since they see you as another cat and cats typically are very light sleepers, it disturbs them seeing you asleep for so long, so they wake you up to make sure you’re okay and not dead
My cats have made my depression go away, pretty sure others said that as well. I used to be cutting a lot and just feeling down. But when I adopted my cats (Casper and rocky) those feelings slowly went away and Casper is the most cuddly little thing ever. Highly recommend a cat Thwir chill af
I really needed this. Just today, as of July 21st, my cat Blake died. He had a blockage inside of him and the doctors had to put him down. I wish I was there when he was still alive. I’m not going to overstate too much since this is the internet, but I needed to vent. This is my first experience with death. Blake, you knew I loved you. I loved you as much as I could. I hope you are playing with other cats and chasing some clouds up there in the sky. You will be missed. Cats bring you a new experience in life. I’m glad I gave him the best life I could have ever dreamed of.
Cats are part of our lives for a shot time, but we’re there for them their entire lives. He, without a doubt, knew you loved him the whole way. My deepest condolences and I hope you can start your journey to healing.
Blake left a paw shaped imprint on your soul, and you filled his entire life with love, care and affection. He lived the best life a cat could ask for, and you did your best for him. I'm sorry for your loss :(
The best part of owning my cat are the moments where I realise she might truly care for me because I earned her care. She didn’t just smother me with it. I know that’s cumbersome for many people but that’s part of the fun for some cat owners. I had to go out of my way to bond with her and love her. So when she shows me some of that in return it feels good. I can’t fully describe the immense joy I feel when I wake up in the middle of the night and see my cat walk into my room, then jump on top of me to just lie down. Then I pet her and hear her pur as I drift back into sleep. It’s a kind of peace and tranquility that you don’t get anywhere else.
About 11 years ago me and my sister found a stray kitten on her porch, we fed him and he kept going around my legs. And even though I’m allergic I couldn’t help but pet him. 11 years later he’s my little fur ball that I love dearly and loves me back very much so. Anytime he’s spooked or whatever he runs to me and goes between my legs and he’ll also decide to sleep with me when he wants to be comforted. Also because of my exposure to him for so long my allergies has mellowed out extremely and now it seems that it only really starts up if I have a lot of cat hair in my eyes.
Have two and couldn't be happier. They don't hiss, growl, scratch, or bite. They don't mind being held, they love kisses and cuddles, and they are cute as buttons. They are friendly with strangers too!
All the cats I've ever met were completely different they are just like people, they all have different personalities and sometimes that personality changes. Like after my grandpa passed away who was basically the primary care giver to my cat, he became so cuddly and will always sleep with me, purr, lick my arms and face( even though before he could be quite grumpy and aggressive)
One of my cats went from being super reserved and just not giving a shit about anything to actually being happy and nice when we took him out of my brother’s house (which was always a really loud and stressful environment lol)
my cat who ive had my whole life has recently passed away, and boy. you have no idea how much you love them until they’re gone. she was always really caring, whenever i’d cry, she’d lick the tears off my face, and whenever i’d sing or play guitar, she’d stay with me even though it was loud. we’d cuddle together and watch movies together, and we had such a strong bond. i miss her a lot, but the memories i have with her are amazing, and i completely agree that having a cat is such an amazing addition to life, especially if you find the right one. :) fuck im crying i miss her
Everybody seems to be sharing very heart warming stories about their cats so I wanna add a little bit of levity to the comments section by saying this. I had a cat named Chase when I was a teenager, had him since he was a little kitten and I loved the shit outta that cat. One of the main reasons for my deep seeded admiration for him was that he would be an absolute asshole to every single living thing near him other than me. It was so god damn funny to be holding him like a baby, snuggling up to his face and scratching his little tummy while one of my friends watched. Then when one of them tried the same thing they would become terrified by the unabated vitriol shown to them by that little furball. I miss ya Chase, you're one of the good one-well no actually you were a dick but hey you made me happy.
The whole cat name thing is very correct. For ages I had 3 cats. 1. Mitzi (My native language's equivalent of that pss pss pss sound people make in america) 2. Kelly. Just a normal human name. 3. Two. She was the third one.
My favourite names for cats I've had include: Shiloh, Mr. Gibbs, Malfoy, Sinbad and Junebug. Currently my 2 kitties are Junebug and Max. My bf named Max and apparently thought that was pretty unique for a cat till we took him to get neutered. They get alot of Max's lol.
I have four cats. 1. Kalervo = just a normal name (people always say how cute the name is) 2. Raketti = literally means rocket 3. Lumikki = Snow White 4. Kleopatra I kinda wanna name my next cat Huora = whore
My cat was more physically affectionate than my dog is. She was always all over me in her later years, sleeping in the crook of my arm or my neck, brushing her back against my head when I went to sleep getting her long fur into my nose. Aw I miss her so much 😢
my parents recently got divorced and now that i’m moving out with my mom we’re planning on getting a cat and this video made me genuinely so much more excited for it so thank you :)
You and your mom are about to go on a crazy fun adventure together. I'm excited for you, good luck and make sure to take care of your mom as well. I know divorce sucks and everything is about to change but sometimes change is the best thing for us. Enjoy this new chapter ❤
As someone who always wanted a dog, when my partner and I got a cat, I had to shift my mindset. I had to respect that my little guy needed his space, had to learn how to be a good cat parent (thanks Jackson Galaxy) and he is the best $50 (adoption fee) I have ever spent. There is no better feeling that a cat laying on you, purring and making biscuits.
I have two little cats and holy shit they are just so damn adorable. I mean, what's more adorable and funny than a little fluff ball that just walks around doing stuff in your home, cats are amazing and I love them and no one can change my mind, thank you for the video it was good :D
Best part of cats is you don’t need to go and adopt one. They just show up and pick you. All three of cats showed up to my parents house at some point and I love them all.
Fr though My first cat just came up to me outside as a kitten, mewing, purring and rubbing against my leg and instantly I was like "if anything ever happens to her, I'll kill everyone in this room and then myself." I've had her for 7 years now 🥰
I found a cat on my mammies porch and he’s still with me and I also found two grey kittens somewhere and they just were like “oh cool I guess we live here now”
That’s not unique to cats though, if a dog barks or growls at you, it’s because you’re a stranger and they don’t like you, until they get familiar with you
I feel like a relationship ship with a cat is more like you need them more than they need you but they chose to stay with you despite that and yer my cat was super clingy to me but know one els in the family
Totally agree. It feels pretty weird to just be able to wake up one day and say "I want a cat" and zero things stand in your possibly impulive way. No matter how sane you are, or aren't.
A cat-dad friend of mine described "dog lovers, cat haters" as people who can not have a relationship with something/someone they have no dominance and control over.
My dog is a rescue. She's a ~120 lb livestock guardian breed, which means I have the safest home on my street. My neighbors have all been visited by bears, bobcats, and other dogs that have gotten loose (the perks of rural life), meanwhile none of those things ever comes anywhere near my property. She's so vicious sounding (incredibly deep, loud bark) that I don't even get solicitors or Mormons showing up. She's worth it just for that alone.
You definitely don't have to win me over. Also, my cat sleeps in our house and goes outside to use the bathroom. He used to be a wild cat in the woods in his youth. Now he's retired from that life and sleeps in my lap.
Had a cat in my youth. He Lived with me in a small student apartment for three. All my roomies loved him. He desperately wanted to be an outdoor cat, but everytime the dummy made it out the door, or fell out the (1st floor) window, he'd shit himself in terror (sometimes literally). I don't know why he wanted out so badly when it scared him so much. I'd always have to rescue him from some hidey hole where the poor idiot was puffed up and shaking. I'd love to have a new roomie, but my wife is allergic :(. Miss you JJ ❤
@@VikingTeddymy cats i had sinse i started to gain memories REALLY(1 escaped permanently after that..) didnt want to be in the house when new kitty dropped dead, so maybe dead cat smell?
I had a cat named Shadow, but he was my grandma's, and whenever i started having panic attacks more often, he would come into my room, lay next to or on me and just put his paw on my chest and i swear.. he helped more than anyone else possibly could at that time.
i think cats are a really good pick for people like myself that have autism/sensory issues. having a dog is very loud and in your face and personally can get very overstimulating very quickly. cats on the other hand just have a very calming feeling. i personally find the sound of their purring very calming and i usually end up meowing as a vocal stim anyways so it just feels like me and my cat are having a conversation whenever she meows.
I personally am 100% convinced that if you would make any cat into a human they would all be autistic so that is probably part of the reason why they're so chill for you
Most of them share our preferences for physical contact too lol "Yeah you can touch m- Nevermind that's uncomfy. Stop now or die" exhibit B: "I *am* being social! See, I'm even in the same room as you! Why can't you just ignore me?" Or the classic "AH! STRANGER!" *disappears*
I consider myself appreciative of both cats and dogs, my mom is allergic to cats so we can’t have one and we have dogs instead My one dog is super calm and well mannered and well trained and she just wants to nap and get belly rubs, she’s great when I’m sad because I can bring her to my room and snuggle her until I feel better and she’s a dog so she doesn’t mind getting affection, yes she barks at the door but she has been trained & when you tell her to stop she will stop 😊 My other dog is a hyper ass puppy who has a need for speed which keeps me active which is really good 😊 and he has absolutely not a single thought behind those eyes! When I get to see my girlfriend’s cat or other family members cats they’re super friendly and I like how they headbutt for attention, and we have an outdoor cat in our neighborhood that handled the rat problem way better than the rat traps that got installed a few years ago (and we’re not talking cute pet rats these are nasty wild rats that look like they have been eating cocaine). Also that outdoor cat goes “mow” at you until you pet him which is just fantastic 😂 My AuDHD take on enjoying the best of both worlds
@@ravyntaylor6982 same, or at least rather similar. My own AuDHD take is that I'll take any animal interaction because I just feel closer to them than to people. I like all of the animals, dog, cat, bird, reptile, fish, insect, amphibian, whatever The only exception is insects that indicate a biohazard (i.e. cockroaches in my living space, poop flies, etc.) - all others are chill
I'm technically the firstborn in my family, but in reality, my parents' first kid was a precious tabby named KC, who was brought into the home just a few months before I was born. Among my earliest memories, I can definitely remember snuggling up to my furry big brother, and him letting me tug on his fur, and us just having an awesome time together. He was the best big brother I could hope for ❤❤❤
@ayasakurahana That's definitely the plan, but for now, I'll have to settle for my roommate's two cats, cat-mates, if you will. They're ridiculous, crazy, but affectionate, so it's all good 👍🏽 ❤️❤️❤️
My old orange boy was just... chill. Even when dealing with me and my brother as babies and toddlers he was just sorta like "ok... this creature smells weird but they also give me kisses and hugs. I can deal" and he did just that for 16 years. My dad called him the coolest cat ever and doesn't want to get another cat because he loved him so much.
They’re like small silly little gremlins that live in your house and chew on your socks but they’re also really cute. They do the strangest things and it’s super entertaining to watch. They’re basically just fierce predators with the silly goofy gene that makes them sit in boxes and make stupid faces at you. They pretend to hate you, but then they’ll make the saddest, most pathetic meow/wail when you close the door on them because you have to poop. Weirdly lovable creatures
I love cats so much. My husband is allergic, so we don't have any, but every time I've tried to explain to him how awesome it is to own a cat, it's ended up just like this video. They make objectively worse pets than dogs in pretty much every demonstrable way, but there's just something about them. Something amazing and absolutely impossible to describe.
We were able to buy a cat that doesn't trigger my family's allergies. they're saliva that they lick themselves with has less of a certain protein than most cats, and some people are allergic to the protein rather than the hair itself. I've read that cats with albinism or melanism have a higher chance of producing less of these proteins. and I'm not talking about the hairless one's either (although I've heard they make great pets). Some breeds on the top of my head are the balinese and siamese. We personally got a Mekong Bobtail, and he's been great. We also adopted a black cat that showed up at our house one day, and we've been good with him too. I would suggest doing your own independent research on the matter if you're interested but I just wanted to let you know that there's a chance you might be able to have your own. ❤
being low maintenance is definitally a huge perk over dogs. But that's basically the only perk, and the lowest maintenance is always just not owning a pet. I think it is just a personality thing, some people just like to have an animal in their home that's entire purpose in life is to cause havoc. It adds spice to what is otherwise a mundane existence.
Nothing feels better than being in a neighborhood with cats. I can just go on a walk, feed kitties treats, and give them pets. Some may be scared, but none of them are mean.
Once I was sitting in my garden, with the back door half open. I wasn’t really paying attention and 10 min later, 5 cats walked into my house. I let them outside, petted them and gave them some food. Before that incident I didn’t know if I liked dogs more or cats. Now I know, and it’s def cats. : D
@@phonegloomy Fair enough, and I assume you're right that in a lot of cases it's a defense response. Just like humans have personalities, cats do a s well, and I've met some mean cats!
You absolutely can train your cats! They just need a different approach than a dog and THEY decide if they’re in the mood to interact with you, but still. My 2 cats both know around 10 commands, including “no”, “come here”, “sit”. Their favourite is “bunny”, where they stand on their back paws (they do it to ask for food now and it’s the most adorable thing)
Fun fact: you can train cats, there's even a cat carnival with trained cats that perform. There's a Netflix documentary called "Inside the Mind of a Cat" that tells you how cats can be trained and how intelligent they can be
I think they aren't trained in the sense that they can't resist a command, I tried to train my cat to jump up on furniture when I knock on it and then he gets a treat BUT he will still randomly decide no, not today, don't feel like it.
Fun fact: cats purr at certain frequency that can aid in bone and tissue healing. There's a couple scientific studies on it but anecdotally i have an autoimmune disease and whenever my lil guy cuddles up to me and purrs for a while i feel better physically and emotionally. You could say the effects aren't that significant and thats placebo but as someone not comfortable cuddling with other humans it's still very healing and comforting to have a happy fluff with me. They can be trained more than you think, it just requires patience. Speaking of patience you have to understand cats are fundamentally different than dogs. You have to pick up on when they want affection and not force it on them just to get mad when they decide to swat at you because you didn't stop once they pushed you away the first time
I can tell when my cat actually doesn’t want me to pick her up or when she’s playing, if she doesn’t actually want me to pick her up she’ll push me away with her claws out but if she’s just playing she won’t put her claws out.
I have an autoimmune disease too, and having a cat absolutely made me feel better and have fewer flare-ups (mine has been gone over a year now.) He was a rescue, he walked right in front of my car and just sat there and wouldn’t move. This was out in the country where someone had obviously abandoned him-and they probably dropped off a whole litter of kittens that didn’t survive. People are the absolute worst. So I brought him home with the intention of finding him a person after I got him shots and he was treated for fleas/ticks. He was a scrawny little orange tabby my son called “Carlos,” and it stuck. He was enamored with this spirited lil’ fuzzy guy, because who wouldn’t be?! My husband (his father) doesn’t like cats, to answer that question. He actually tricked me when we were dating or I never would have considered a future together. He let me keep Carlos though, because aside from our son’s immediate attachment it just seemed like serendipity. After Carlos disappeared three years later, he knew I was devastated and told me to get another cat. I’ve thought about finding one but it’s such a bummer knowing he really doesn’t want me to:-/
everytime i get home from work late at night the first thing i do is go see my cat gato. i pet him, and he wakes up, then he follows me around as i grab water, eat, and walk up the stairs to my room. he sits outside my door, and follows after me as i walk in. as im taking my shoes off, he circles me purring, indicating he's happy to see im home. as i get into bed, he crawls up and lies right next to my head and purrs until we both fall asleep. no matter how stressful work was, no matter how early i must get up the next morning, gato is always there for me. i've had him for seven years now and he feels like a best friend to me, he's always watching after me and always close by. he's my favorite thing in the whole wide world, and whenever we're apart, according to my family, he sits outside of my door meowing and waiting for me. cats are not just assholes guys they're sweet assholes
A few tips on anyone thinking of getting a cat: First off, consider getting two [kittens]. I know it seems like more of an investment, but trust me, if they have a playmate, they'll be attacking you far less. Also, never let them play with your hand or anything else you don't see as a cat toy. That is basically teaching them to be regular biters and engage in more destructive behaviors. Be sure to buy some cat furniture, especially a cat tree. Don't get them cheap, big name food if you want them to live long and healthy. Also consider a natural alternative to clay litter. For me, I use oat grain litter. It's far less toxic than clay or crystal litters. And most importantly, do NOT let your cat outside! I know lot's of people have outdoor kitties or barn cats, but they will live much longer if they are indoor kitties. You will also worry less about toxoplasmosis since they are far less likely to catch and eat critters indoors. Hope that helped. One last thing to give them to help them live longer, happier lives is lots and lots of love ❤
I HATE clay litter so, so much. I hate the texture, the smell, the dust, everything. I use grass seed litter. It varely smells at all unless you're not scooping regularly or the cat JUST used it. It does track and you need to vacuum it, but I've yet to find a litter that doesn't do that. Except maybe if you're using pine pellets or something
@@slitheen3 I hate clay litter, too. It's disgusting! I've been using walnut litter, but I'm about to switch to corn litter because it's more dust free. I don't think I've heard of grass seed litter, I'll have to look into that.
@@ilovenycsomuch I wish I could get a catio, but sadly I rent an apartment on the second floor. All I can do is take them out on leash and harnesses, which has mixed results.
I feel like the most rewarding part of owning a cat is earning its trust. cats just have more boundaries than dogs in my experience, which makes them more like humans and less like loyal pets. so if you can get a cat to trust you and enjoy your company, you've really connected to it on an emotional level, and that's a big accomplishment (they're also like really goofy, no shortage of entertainment)
Cats can be really empathetic.! When my uncle died I curled into a hall in my room and cried, but my baby found me and cuddled next to me and stayed there when I fell asleep. She was even there when I woke up. 💙💙💙
This is true. Every time I cry my cat will just *collapse* on my knees when I'm sitting or my chest when I'm lying down. He meows loudly to distract me and then licks my tears. 🥹 He's saving me a lot of money since I don't need to go to therapy with him around.
I didn't actually learn this about cats until I went through a really tough breakup and had my cat Malfoy with me. He was on the other side of my grandmother's house, heard me crying and came running. He kept rubbing himself on me until I started petting him. Like he was saying "hey, no, don't cry, here, pet me, PET ME." Like he was trying to distract me and it worked really well. Emotional support kitties are awesome
One time after getting violently high in my car, i opened the door and i hear this creaky door sounding ass meow and all of a sudden this kitten runs up to me. She let me pet her and she followed me to my door. I couldnt take her unfortunately, but i did leave out water and bought her a cat treat. She stuck around my house. After about a week, there was a big thunderstorm about to happen, and i was scared of the cat (i named her Rosy) getting hurt in the storm. So i scooped her up and put her in my car and sat with her until the storm was over. My friend ended up taking Rosy in, and shortly adopted another stray kitten named Raven. They are now a bonded pair. I am their uncle.
I love how your cat the whole time was just not-so-gently nibbling/biting, and then licks right after. Like, are we playing or you trying to slay me? Either way, both of you keep up the good work!
That a black cat thing I notice (different colors do have super small differences) Black cats are most likely to give you love bites Strips are most out going, need to be played with the most and also has the most energy. siamese cats are either bit of loners or super cuddly. orange cats are stupid. this is not the norm but it a trait that can pop up.
@@ADHHollow Yeah, it's really annoying, whenever i try to buy a cat, either some parts are missing or it's not assembled and i have to put tiny cells together carefully and make sure those cells don't die and i also have to ensure no DNA leaks out of them
My cat would wedge herself between me and my ex, like she was tryna keep us apart. She turned out to be somewhat bonkers thus why she's an ex and my cat obviously knew. I was the same as you Tucker, dogs for life until I had a cat, they're awesome. They're basically a generally grumpy and anti social roommate who will just give you cuddles. Surprised when talking about cats you didnt mention the one who would smell out people who were gonna die and visit their rooms at night. Freaky but also pretty neat
Yeah cats (and dogs) can smell your stress hormones and during the dying process your body goes through a very specific chemical cocktail of stress hormones
Cats are the pet you need to have to discover your love for them but even then you cant comprehensively explain why you love them and sound sane at the same time to non-cat owners
Watching this witha cat purring in my arms
This is uncanny with how accurate this is
So accurate but that's bc they are actually brainwashing you with toxoplasmosis lmao
You can indoctrinate a best friend into cat lover over ~5 years if they stay over at your house enough.
That’s called toxoplasmosis 😬😬😬
This video is 10x funnier if you imagine him being mind controlled by the cat and he becomes self aware a few times lol.
or hes just too awkward for the cats cause :(
I mean, there is a type of ameba that cats can carry that makes you want more cats, so, maybe
@@JuniaLClarkMy exorbitant amount of kitties now make sense....I have 5. There was a time I didn't have health insurance, but they did.

That is funny. yes.
Well it does take a couple of hours to completely dry a cat's coat. Also, that is very cool.
"very unpleased when found" after being stuck onto 3 doomed ships one after the other i would be too! lol
IDK, I mean, it sounds like the cat was doing the sinking. Super sus kitty
How do we know that Oscar wasn't spying for the Germans and sabotaged those two other British ships.
That's kinda hype but imma keep it a stack, it also kinda sounds like God just really sucks at playing Battleship
12 good things about cats in no particular order:
1. Really soft
2. Their weirdness is unbelievably hilarious, they sleep weirdly in weird places, bolt from the room for no reason, look dumb when they're playing, etc
3. Purring - such a warm comforting sound, also apparently good for bones
4. Light and easy to pick up
5. 100% authentically themselves, don't fawn/people please - just who they are all the time
6. Groom themselves (unless bred to need grooming) & so their fur tends not to smell even when wet
7. So many cute/funny noises
8. Dont seriously hurt people. Even if it's not their fault, dogs do kill people every year.
9. Rubbing against you/lying on your lap feels so nice
10. They blink at you slowly to show they love you
11. Just crazy impressive sometimes - run so fast, jump so high, do crazy yoga stretches
12. There are trends to cat behaviour but every cat you meet will be an exception to the rules in multiple ways e.g. instead of dead mice, my friend's cat brings home scratch cards (scratch off cards)
I love the weirdness. and the quirks. And the way they communicate everything at you and you UNDERSTAND because you care so desperately.
You forgot they're free warmth, also the belly is the best/softest part of the cat.
And toe beans, and head bumps, and boopey noses
Love your friend's cat. Bringing home the bacon
O.O
I just realized my cat doesn't purr
The best thing about the reason why cats bring you mice, is that they care about you enough that they’ll hunt for you too. And I think that’s really sweet
That made my heart expand. Holy shit I love my cat.
Ah…my indoor cat just leaves dismembered insects strewn at my bedside. Took me forever to figure out that that was her equivalent.
Free rat nuggets
It's funny, I think they look at humans and think 'aww, poor thing can't even catch it's own toys, better take pity and give them one of mine'
YEAH BUT THEY DONT CARE ABOUT YOU ENOUGH TO ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR FUCKING EXISTENCE HOLY SHIT
Being “chosen” by a cat is one of the greatest things you can experience. When I was at the shelter where I got my cat she let me put her on my lap and INSTANTLY started purring. It was amazing.
Something about having a small fluffy creature who lays on you and purrs does make you feel better about the world.
It's the healing frequency their purr runs on, healing you.
It also helps that it's a ferocious, evolutionarily unparalleled killing machine that wants nothing more than to love you and cuddle and make you feel better when you're sad.
@@MrThatguyandrewhumans are the killing machines.
I can think of 20 things off the top of my head that are greater than having a cat like you
My cat chose me and he’s just a silly guy who is not very smart and loves to scream.
They don’t shy away from picking favorites.
Who hurt you?

If you would have gotten a dog it would have had the same effect but you'd also have a reason to go outside and touch grass which has been proven to help with depression

Then, he came up and headbutt me and laid on my chest and I thought "well, he'd be sad if I was gone, and if everything goes to shit, I can still make a positive impact by opening a cat shelter"
My cats have always given me love even when I thought I was unlovable. I’m happy you’re still here and I’m sure your cat is too.

Cat (while jumping): "Ope; there (goes/went) gravity."

This is creepy. My baby of 17 years just passed away this year. Her name was Binx and yes I named her after Hocus Pocus.
i think one of the best parts about having a cat is when they walk up to you snd you make the little noises or say their name in a certain way and they start walking towards you faster or when you’re doing something and they stand next to you and you look at them and they look at you and you can like just feel the love for this little creature in your heart i mean cats are so awesome
In fact the other of my 2 cats is defective as hell and if I didn't lose the dang receipt Id want my money back 🙄
I found one of mine crawling across a road starved and w a raging infected wound on her neck weighing less than an lb.
My dad found one of our cats in our garage.
That story is so cute 😭
Literally how it happened with me. My roommate and I were just chilling outside one morning, smoking a joint and then out of nowhere this Tabi Kitten just comes up to us and starts yeowling like we can speak his language. It was decided then and there that it was meant to be, and we still have over 10 years later and in entirely different state now!
I’ve always been a dog person but I got adopted by a ginger cat about two months ago. He followed me home and just decided that I was taking care of him now. He’s funny in his own way and very chill.
They are so friendly.
That's such a ginger cat thing to do, too lol
I’ve lived with cats my whole life, I think thats why I’m great with kids. Basically the same thing, they love you, and then they have a breakdown, they both ruin things, and are messy. Sometimes you’ll just end up with one you didn’t want, but you end up loving it. And you still have to feed them
They showed me why i dont want kids 😭 i will stick to little fluffy balls of insanity
That's how I ended up with my cat, I was actually gonna get a dog but we ended up cat sitting the kittens that lived in my sister's friend's shed and now I have smudge I guess
But the main difference is, I cant just send my kid to the pound
I don’t care+ dogs are superior+cats are emotionless creatures from hell+dogs are friendly and cute+cats are stupid and antisocial
I don't care for cats or children all that much. And you just summed up why pretty succinctly, and better than I ever could.
Don't know why but "Sponge #2" had me dying.
More reasons to get a cat, by naming things my cat - Zara - does:
"vibe sensing" is a myth, please
Yes. And "Vibe sensing" is probably true, most cats hate me and I hate me so... that checks out.
idk about ‘vibes’ as spiritual phonies think of it, but i side with the comment. they definitely can sense a vibe- and that is to say that they’re really mature and smart at picking up on nonverbal cues of people. if they’re chill, respectful, imposing or entitled, greedy or kind, all of that. cats are scrutinising and they are objective with it. if a cat approves of you- good job you win
My arctic stoat cat used to hide my bras up inside of her secret hideout in the couch 😄
"probably looking like a pancake" made me laugh, glad he pulled through! What a badass!
Good for him. I hope he lives a long and happy life

Are you sure your cat wasn’t cursed by witches 300 years ago?
Did he try to take over the government as a human and got cursed to be a cat forever

To add to the cat history bit, I remember learning in class one day about one of the oldes known named cats in history. In the 9th century, an Irish monk wrote this cute little poem about his cat Pangur Bán (meaning something like 'pure white' if I remember correctly) in which he compared his hunt for mice with his own "hunt" for wisdom to write in the manuscripts. It was such a cute and intimate view into this random monk's bond with his cat and I never forgot it.
One of the first cats we know of, was, obviously, in Egypt.
I forget what the name actually was, but it means 'sweety' in Egyptian
It was Idjem
I think its a song mentioned in the movie Secret of Celts
My friends had cats named "Xanax" and "Mac and cheese" and that's honestly my favorite part about cats. You can call them literally anything.

One of the things I love about cats is that you don’t even need to look hard to find them. Just find one on the street or around your house and suddenly you have a new baby to love and care for (checking for microchips of course). They just choose to love you and I think that is just so beautiful
and theyre usually FREE! my cat adopted me by just coming to the window and never leaving so we just took him in
I also was an avid dog lover who acquired a cat somewhat against my will. My dog passed away and a cat showed up and started sleeping in my doorstep. I took her to the vet and she was basically just mine after that. And now I love her and do everything I can to be a good first time cat owner ❤️
That's basically how cats became house cats. They just showed up one day and suddenly they live there. History likes to repeat itself
Whats the song called? It sounds like it’d be awesome!

My cat 100% saved my life. When I was in an incredibly dark place, she made me feel so loved, and I got myself out of bed every morning because I knew that I had to be there for her
It's amazing to think I found my little soulbound familiar as a scrawny stray in the Georgia woods.
I wouldn't change a thing about her!
womp womp
I call my cat my familiar, too! She’s light gray and she follows me around like a little second shadow, I actually had to put a collar on her so I would stop kicking/tripping over her 😂
Oh wow, the same thing happened for my mom. My cat-coon Cleo lol, dragged my mom out of a very dark place. It made me love the cat so much more ❤
A fun little story about my oldest cat:
I got him in 2016 when he was just a kitten.
/nm
Your cat sounds like such a sweetheart /gen
Honestly this made me tear up
I read it all because I have felt the same things with many of my cats over the years of my life.

As an adoptive parent of both dogs and cats, I think that both species have fantastic qualities and make my life immeasurably better.
my cats knew how to play fetch right out of the box, and one of them is far cuddlier than any of the dogs I’ve had. Bonus point for the cats being small/light enough that when they walk on you it doesn’t hurt, it’s just kind of endearing.
Also being small light and agile enough that if they claw you and you throw them across the room… it’s not really abuse.

As long as you regularly clean & replace the litter box, you won't have an issue with offensive odors lingering. I mean If they pinch off a real grumpy you'll know at the time, but humans also have that problem. Mixing in baking soda also helps to deodorize boxes, so that's a nifty little hack.

There wasn't a day that went by that I regretted with that cat in my life, not one.
hol up, she just
*walked back home?*

My cat comes when called, jumps into my arms (with treats), and for some reason every time i’m crying he shows up and cuddles me/starts purring.
This is building on instinctive behavior more than actual training, but if I tell my cat Miss to "get the bug" she will immediately start looking for a bug on the floor if I pat the floor or in the air if I point up. She is a mighty hunter.
A cat purring on you is an actual attempt to "heal" you since cats are healed while they pur, that is just so FKING adorable!

I got 4 cats; one from an ex, a stray from my work, a possibly abandoned from a coworkers house, and another abandoned from my work. They each have their own littler personalities that makes them extremely unique yet they love all the same. I got one on my lap as I’m typing this.
You never know how much you need a cat till it walks up to you, trills and then falla onto you while purring.
They can sense any change too so if you were awake but trying to sleep back again, they would notice
For one of my cats she's more concerned about being fed.

Nothing can replace the feeling of ten pounds of fuzz voluntarily rumbling on you. It's basically free therapy.

I have four cats.
1. Kalervo = just a normal name (people always say how cute the name is)
2. Raketti = literally means rocket
3. Lumikki = Snow White
4. Kleopatra
I kinda wanna name my next cat Huora = whore
My cat was more physically affectionate than my dog is. She was always all over me in her later years, sleeping in the crook of my arm or my neck, brushing her back against my head when I went to sleep getting her long fur into my nose. Aw I miss her so much 😢

My first cat just came up to me outside as a kitten, mewing, purring and rubbing against my leg and instantly I was like "if anything ever happens to her, I'll kill everyone in this room and then myself."
I've had her for 7 years now 🥰
I found a cat on my mammies porch and he’s still with me and I also found two grey kittens somewhere and they just were like “oh cool I guess we live here now”
Dame, all my cudly bbs just show'd up in my house a year ago, and i haven't been happier 🥰
We had an orange and white cat appear in our yard one day when I was a kid and we adopted him. Loved that cat so much

Kind of, but I'd argue parrots are more deserving of the title "forever toddler"
@@madeliner1682imagine teaching a parrot the word why? 😅

Dogs are toddlers. Cats are acrobatic toddlers with knives on their feet.
Frrrrr
Cats don’t have to love you, and yet they do. They choose to love you. That makes them special.
Literally any other animal also doesn't need to
That’s not unique to cats though, if a dog barks or growls at you, it’s because you’re a stranger and they don’t like you, until they get familiar with you
I feel like a relationship ship with a cat is more like you need them more than they need you but they chose to stay with you despite that and yer my cat was super clingy to me but know one els in the family

Totally agree. It feels pretty weird to just be able to wake up one day and say "I want a cat" and zero things stand in your possibly impulive way. No matter how sane you are, or aren't.

My cat does nothing but sleep, eat food and beat up the neighbourhood cat and child population so that tracks.
A bird is like a forever toddler, a dog is like a cool roommate thats kinda dumb
A kinda cool roommate who alternates between being a stoner and a tweaker depending on the time of day.

YESSS! Loud barking hurts my brain! I love my dogs so much, but they’re so loud, and smelly, and greasy. It’s too much for me to handle sometimes
I personally am 100% convinced that if you would make any cat into a human they would all be autistic so that is probably part of the reason why they're so chill for you
Most of them share our preferences for physical contact too lol

I consider myself appreciative of both cats and dogs, my mom is allergic to cats so we can’t have one and we have dogs instead
My one dog is super calm and well mannered and well trained and she just wants to nap and get belly rubs, she’s great when I’m sad because I can bring her to my room and snuggle her until I feel better and she’s a dog so she doesn’t mind getting affection, yes she barks at the door but she has been trained & when you tell her to stop she will stop 😊
My other dog is a hyper ass puppy who has a need for speed which keeps me active which is really good 😊 and he has absolutely not a single thought behind those eyes!
Also that outdoor cat goes “mow” at you until you pet him which is just fantastic 😂
My AuDHD take on enjoying the best of both worlds
@@ravyntaylor6982 same, or at least rather similar. My own AuDHD take is that I'll take any animal interaction because I just feel closer to them than to people. I like all of the animals, dog, cat, bird, reptile, fish, insect, amphibian, whatever
The only exception is insects that indicate a biohazard (i.e. cockroaches in my living space, poop flies, etc.) - all others are chill
He was the best big brother I could hope for ❤❤❤
Will you have more brothers in the future?
@ayasakurahana That's definitely the plan, but for now, I'll have to settle for my roommate's two cats, cat-mates, if you will. They're ridiculous, crazy, but affectionate, so it's all good 👍🏽 ❤️❤️❤️

eerily enough, exact same story except our KC was a female tabby.
My old orange boy was just... chill. Even when dealing with me and my brother as babies and toddlers he was just sorta like "ok... this creature smells weird but they also give me kisses and hugs. I can deal" and he did just that for 16 years. My dad called him the coolest cat ever and doesn't want to get another cat because he loved him so much.
while watching this my cat jumped onto my lap and started purring when I started petting her, I swear they train us more than we train them
My idiotic kleptomanic Lumina passed away back in February. I miss her every day. Thanks for making this.
tucker is the singelhandedly most relatable, wholesome, relateable, and wholesome man ive ever seen on the internet.

You just described having a crush that doesnt know you exist.
My sister managed to train our cat to shake hands, play dead, sit, stand on her hind legs, and meow on command. It's quite impressive imo.
Nothing feels better than being in a neighborhood with cats. I can just go on a walk, feed kitties treats, and give them pets. Some may be scared, but none of them are mean.
They are the graceful welcome brigade :)

@@plusmin09because they're scared. not all scared cats are mean, but more than most mean cats are scared.
The absolute juxtaposition of you calling yourself a proud cat dad, and your kitty biting the shit out of your hand. Incredible 1:10
@@c.w.8200 Yeah, they have a bit more free will than dogs, but that doesn't mean they're untrainable, that's all I'm getting at
The problem isn't that cats don't know how to do tricks, it's that they genuinely don't give a fuck about performing said tricks.
Training cat to know tricks is super easy, barely an incovenience. The insanly hard part is to motivate them to do it.
Oh yeah, they have a podcast they started over Covid too!!
You have to pick up on when they want affection and not force it on them just to get mad when they decide to swat at you because you didn't stop once they pushed you away the first time
My cats have to sit and shake before they get fed :)
Most are smarter than dogs so they have issues with authority. Just like me lol

I can tell when my cat actually doesn’t want me to pick her up or when she’s playing, if she doesn’t actually want me to pick her up she’ll push me away with her claws out but if she’s just playing she won’t put her claws out.
I have an autoimmune disease too, and having a cat absolutely made me feel better and have fewer flare-ups (mine has been gone over a year now.)
He was a rescue, he walked right in front of my car and just sat there and wouldn’t move.
Yes, instead build a catio!!! I have one & im very proud of it, the cats love sitting outside in the sun
That actually helps a heap thank you, looking to adopt a cat or two in a few years ❤
I HATE clay litter so, so much.
I feel like the most rewarding part of owning a cat is earning its trust. cats just have more boundaries than dogs in my experience, which makes them more like humans and less like loyal pets. so if you can get a cat to trust you and enjoy your company, you've really connected to it on an emotional level, and that's a big accomplishment
(they're also like really goofy, no shortage of entertainment)
That a black cat thing I notice (different colors do have super small differences)
Black cats are most likely to give you love bites
Strips are most out going, need to be played with the most and also has the most energy.
siamese cats are either bit of loners or super cuddly.
orange cats are stupid.
this is not the norm but it a trait that can pop up.
“They gave me a cat, a whole entire cat.” Lucky!! I only got the torso, head, and one leg :(
aw damn they gave you the top part
Dang, I hope the parts were already assembled! They almost never come with an instruction manual
Noo why didn't they give your cat the other 3 leg dlc:(
@@ADHHollow Yeah, it's really annoying, whenever i try to buy a cat, either some parts are missing or it's not assembled and i have to put tiny cells together carefully and make sure those cells don't die and i also have to ensure no DNA leaks out of them
My cat would wedge herself between me and my ex, like she was tryna keep us apart.
Yeah cats (and dogs) can smell your stress hormones and during the dying process your body goes through a very specific chemical cocktail of stress hormones
thats usually a fever thing! They are heat seeking missiles and people often have fevers even if small before they pass on
A dog owner understands responsibility. A cat owner understands boundaries.
