It's dressed out like a '79. Starting in '80 they had a different hood scoop with a functional vent facing the windshield, the fender vents had only one slot, the side stripes were thicker and they added rear wheel flares.
Came here to say the same thing. This has fenders and hood of the 78-79 models. The 80-81 had the single vent fenders and functional cowl as you stated. I have owned all of these models, and I know from first-hand experience.
78 also looked like the 79 but had the old dash from the 70-78. 79-81 had this dash. I think the grill and fuel door emblems are from 80-81. This thing really is a Mish mosh!

I've had 4 of these 2 79's 2 80's 2 Z28's 2 LT'S, all BBC's and 4-speeds they just love having the Big Blocks just as long as you put sub frame connectors in lol I popped the front windshield when I did a spirited launch

If that oil pressure is correct, that motor is fresh! I put an all-new build in my '68 SS Impala fastback, 302DZ block and switched the Saginaw transmission out with a fresh M-20 Muncie. Oil pressure is still pegged on the factory guage, drops down to 3/4 after it's warmed up. Was running 90 on an analog guage on the test stand, after a $9K build.
Looks like it has different stuff from a few years. Still for the money you can't complain. These cars were so much fun! I loved my '78 Z. I would love to have another but they are getting pricey. You shouldn't have that one long.

Oh my gosh, that was my car, except my stripes went over the back from the front. So many memories! And yeah, if it says E, it is on walk! The doors are heavy as Sheet. I had to replace the hinges twice.

The underside looks really good, but it's going to need a fair amount of bodywork to make it right. But this car is in good enough overall shape to make it worth it for the right buyer. The 350 seems quite healthy, and the 4 speed has good syncros---no grinding. It's a great driver
From the video mechanically it sounds good and looks like it runs good. I seen in the comments somebody said they wouldn't pay more than 9k. Well good luck with that in today's economy.
It's a 1979, had one of these. Driving down the street and got t-boned by someone trying rip off the local drug dealer. That dude got beat to a pulp and my quarter panel beyond repair.

I love camaros I have owned a 1973 with the original 400 small block a 1978 with a built 305 that would haul...just ask jefferson Co sherrif office😂..I have also owned a 1979 z as well as a 1980 z both with original 350 4 speed manual. I miss those cars I'm gonna have to hit you guys up before long..currently the big issue with me is hurricane helene got major damage to everything I own there is literally a huge pecan tree on everything I own and no power now for 14 days it's getting old. Yall keep up the great work bro I'm serious I'll be checking you out before long

Ruff, Ruff, Ruff... Best thing is the engine compartment. nice looker at 20ft or so. But then, the price reflects this IMO.
If it is an 80 someone went to great lengths to make it look like a 79 entire front clip is a 79 stripe kit is a 79 emblems on grill and gas door are only thing I see that is 1980.

I know others have said it, but she looks like a 79. In 80/81 The fender vents were smooth, and the stripe was a tricolor stripe not a bicolor stripe 79 but it’s a nice car nevertheless

You sure that's not a 1979? 1980 had a cool induction hood and rear wheel spoilers. I also don't think the 1980 came with a 4sd. I used to have them all.
You could get them with a 4 speed through 1981. I had an 81 4 speed Z. They weren't available in all states. If I remember correctly, CA had a ban on that combo for 81.

lol, 17,900. This is at best 9k. That’s where I’d be. Needs a lot. But at 9k a project build to something really cool. But at 17.9k not a reality. Needs too much at that price. Sketchy drive. No for me. I like this era and style. This at that price not the one.

@@Tartan1206 Eh, that may have been true just a year and a half ago. I’ve watched some recent auctions and prices for show type cars are coming down. They’re not fetching those record prices anymore. So a refreshed mostly stock car like this probably not going for as much. Also though 9k would be an offer and then see. On that I would see counters. But it would have to come down probably more than they’d want. Just hearing this thing it really wasn’t a great runner. Driving like I said sketchy. I’d had have to drive it myself though. But based on this test drive it’s not a great driving car. The only thing it had going for it was it was clean. Little rust. Body shape.

It's a 79, hood scoop and fender side vents are wrong for an 80. Your price's are usually spot on but not on this car. Would never pay more than 5 or 6,000 for it.

Dam source a few parts and unjanky the interior, plus nothing works right. Probably a basic 350 GM crate motor w Crome dress up kit. Looks like an LT with ok almost Z stripes.
