However, since then I've shot video with the case and camera mic. To my surprise, the sound is at least usable. But I want to have an external mic to get the motor sound without the wind sound, and I need external power.
You are doing som great adapters for the SjCams. You should start a serious business selling theese. Is there any chance you can make one for me and i will pay you? Or just an adapter for a 3.5 audio jack would work too so i can put another mic in,,, Please let me know. Im getting so frustrated on my SJ7 star and the bad audio from wind when i drive motorcycle with it.. In any way, good job.

@@nianeko3670 Actually i'm not going to use that 3.5mm jack because i need to modify that with a resistor to make it work with my Gopro kamera so i have ordered som new things for this. But may i ask you, in your other video "DIY SJCAM SJ7 Mic Adapter" you mention in the comments that you use a "SOONSUN 3.5mm Mic Adapter GoPro", does this only have 2 wires inside?
The 3.5mm jack is stereo, so the cable is L, R, Gnd 3 core. But the adapter is mono, so L&R are connected to same pin. You need Mic adapter, or Mic & Power adapter?
I have planed a small box (L*W*H 42*22*11mm) with cable to the camera (10pin micro USB at the end, with your waterproof solution from the other video), and with 3 connectors on the other side: jack-connector for mono mic, 10 pin usb connector for original mic, micro USB connector for power supply. The whole set (only material) costs about 15€. But i don't know which ext. (mono with 3.5mm jack-connector) mic i should buy for motorcycle helmet. The original mic has poor quality: the windnoise is too much and if i try to isolate it, the tone will be too deep (only low frequency sound).

Original R is for AV out. You must change to 47k for external mic. Pin No.3-mic G, No.4-mic Rch, No.5-mic Lch. You can make stereo mic & power adapter.😊

What is the type (W) and value (Ohm) of the resistor?
500k, may be 1/8w. If you make this adapter, do not need this resistor.

I use audio-technica's mic. But not for helmet. Positioning of mic may be important.
