Chrollo about the hatsu " lovey ghost writer " in chapter 104 : " The fortunes takes the form of a poem with four or five quatrains, each quatrain corresponds to a week of the current month " Shizuku in the same chapter about her prediction which contains 2 quatrains : " i will die next week, i only have quatrains for the first two weeks ". More than 2 weeks have passed since the prediction. So it is no longer active. If shizuku dies, it will have nothing to do with the prediction. You should read the manga in hardcover version. The scans on net are those of the jump pre-publication, so with the togashi's drawings before retouching and with the amateur translation from the time the chapters were released...which explains the urban legend “ Togashi can’t draw”.
Skill Hunter being able to upgrade based on his thieving feats is SO dope. He gained a bookmark last time and i was wondering how he did that. Instead of stealing an ability in particular it seems like he’s looking for a way to make skill hunter more efficient and dangerous.
Bruh if this guy sheds his limits, how is anyone going to be able to beat him ? What kind of upgrade would he even get ? The bookmark is already laughably op considering the starting state of skill hunter that we have seen. Like seriously, how is anyone gonna be able to defeat him ? No, Chrollo is one more Skill Hunter hack, like the bookmark, from being virtually unbeatable. He fought Killuas father and grandfather simultaneously to a draw with no bookmark. He killed Hisoka with tbh low diff with one. One more way to supplant his conditions and it’s over.
@@Tyler_Frenzy I got the pretty opposite impression from that fight. Chrollo dominated but Hisoka showed tactical genius to even make that fight not an insta kill. Hisoka gave every advantage to Chrollo and still showed up unafraid, whereas Chrollo doesn't ever want to fight him without 100 contingencies in place. Hisoka is no longer fighting him handicapped by giving him every advantage for a greater challenge for himself. He doesn't care about his duel with Chrollo anymore, he just wants to kill them all. I think all this backstory and how the fight played out is the death flags being raised heavily and Hisoka is going to kill them all not in honorable duels, but just killing them efficiently as a way to spit in Chrollo's face for not giving him what he wanted.
Imagine the girl with the cell phone hatsu just used it once because her criteria directed her to Chrollo, who then managed to steal her ability after going on a fake date like he did with Neon LOL

The way togashi setting this arc up will make The Black Whale inevitably become a big nen war zone and a massive bloodbath where eventually all hell break lose. We're definitely going to have an all out World War 3 on every side in the ship that's going to consequently cause a titanic sinking situation before reaching the dark continent. The bomb is ticking and Pandora box is waiting to be opened...
We can see that happening from the looks of it. A lot of people we're hyping up the dark continent, saying how dangerous and savage the creatures are there but their true and worst enemies aren't in a far away continent... humanities worst enemies are within themselves and people inside the ship.
Hinrigh did tell the Troupe the transmitted would revert. The bigger the object, the faster the nen runs out and he told the troupe it would last about 2 hours in 398

If Nobu's sword was a conjured item he should be able to dismiss and recall it at will. Feitan also describes it as being hastily made which seems to point to it being a real sword though maybe Nobu has an ability that helps with crafting weapons since I have no idea where the facilities to make one would be on the ship.
maybe he can conjure swords but those swords are permanent. it'd require more aura than normal but not being able to dismiss the sword is also a limitation that makes it stronger
I immediately thought of Kurapika's training, where his teacher told him that conjured objects should have special properties, not be something normal. You can't conjure a sword that can cut anything, as that violates nen rules; you can, however, conjure a really sharp sword, but that would be dumb because why not just get a normal sharp sword? It being a condition for Nobu would make sense. Yes, it's just a sharp sword... but that's straightforward and dumb just like the person of Reinforcement class that he is. Another condition might be related to his lack of skill with Emission: the sword can't leave his possession or it disappears and he has to conjure a new one. It's much more likely to be a normal sword though. The idea that he had to blacksmith a proper sword is incorrect though. So long as it's reasonably sword-shaped and sized, Nobu can just use Shu on the edge to make it sharp, the same way Hisoka does with playing cards. All he has to do is rip a piece of steel off the ship and grind it down a little to an approximate shape.
@yonkage Speaking of Kurapika's mentor, I also seem to recall that the more familiar you are with an object, the easier it is to conjure. Nobunaga seems to be with his sword 24/7, and he is often seen grabbing its hilt.
That scene with them climbing the stairs in the outer layer of the Black Whale No. 1 gives me massive Blame vibes, I wouldn't be surprised if Togashi had read that manga and got inspired to make some crazy giant machinery complete with an OSHA violating staircase

Never have I enjoyed such a chapter in a long time. The succession war was complicated enough, let alone adding the phantom troupe to the equation with their treasure hunting quest. Everyone is now hunting everyone.
One of the lowkey cool things Togashi's done with the last few chapters is by establishing Halkenburg's funeral we have this sort of signpost to build the chronology for these Phantom Troupe/Mafia chapters. It's also another example of how wonderfully interconnected the world of the Black Whale is for this arc, events resonate from the lowest tier to the highest and vice versa even if they're appear world's apart -- really helps build that metaphor for society that Togashi is painstakingly constructing with the Succession War.

Lmao just like Ponzu and Pokkle. And this is why I love HxH. Togashi aren't afraid of killing characters so the stake and sense of dread is always there. It also make the characters alive and the way he wrote HxH is peak writing.
On the opposite i think that yes it is complicated but it has so many ways it can go and be satisfying, way more that you had in chimera ants... Eg: you can have marayam, wobble or tserridnich as beyond child and it would fit nicely with the situation that was setup. You can have hisoka kill quoll or being killed by quoll and then quoll killed by kurapika and both would be coherent and satisfying...

I just assumed Chrollo's special upgrade to his book would be to allow him to steal someone else's power without needing to satisfy most or even all of the prerequisites . Then all he'd have to do is steal Hisoka's ability and kill him so that his Bungee Gum can't bring him back to life. I guess it could also be the ability to literally steal someone's life or soul once certain conditions are met.
Now that Chrollo is not looking for a « person with a certain ability », but the ideal partner to perform his ultimate heist, it is not excluded that the person he looks for is Kurapika, because the Kuruta is looking for a way to stop the succession contest. Of course there are a lot of other possibilities, but I so wish to see Chrollo and Kurapika « negotiate ».

The mere logistics of having the sewage ABOVE level 5 is a nightmare. You'd either need to pump level 5's sewage upwards (which is inefficient), or you can leave the people there without sewage, so their grey water would just pile up, which doesn't seem to be happening. So the other option would be for them to have a separate sewage system. Perhaps not as advanced.
@@notKevinFeige guess what. I used to be a marine engineer (3rd), and I was the one responsible for the sewage system (amongst lots of other things). And yes, the sewage DOES indeed go into the ocean/sea, but not directly. Ships are forbidden from dumping their sewage while they are docked. But let's say that their world has different laws and stuff. The 5th level will be below the water level, so it will still need some sort of pump to make enough pressure, so the grey water will go OUT of the ship instead of come into it through the pipes.
I feel like Hisoka and Chrollo killing each other is the most obvious and maybe best narrative choice. Although, it almost feels too predictable for Togashi.
The Quollo panel gave me the strong feeling he's made a death nen vow, like transferring power the the other troupe members in case he dies vs Hisoka (possibly through the spider tattoos)
Crollo is not searching for Isoka but for a nen user with an hability that perfectly counters Isoka's capacity to revive, Molonelov has already told us that
I notice with nobunage, whenever he gets mad or interrogates someone, he always does a thing where he says something like, "speak without permission and I'll kill you, move and I'll kill you, try anything funny and I'll kill you!" Thay very well may be a condition for nobunaga to do a one hit kill on his opponents

I appreciate that you went over the sword aspect. I remembered previously that he'd lost that sword during his previous skirmish and was wondering where it'd gone and how he got it back. I find Nobunaga a fascinating character that's heavily being developed.
1. I lean towards Nobu smithing a new sword. That's because Feitan quips that it was a "rush job". But even if not conjured, Nen can still be involved to account for how quickly Nobu replaced it. 2. The oyster turning back into a transmitter is probably just the conjuration effect running out. He said in 398 it would revert in about 2 hours. The reversion happens before the scene revealing Lynch's corpse, so it likely wasn't because Hinrigh decided to deactivate the effect. That said, Togashi is flexible in showing the order and times of events.
if i were to interpret the panel with the face i'd say most likely is not about him but of the troupe. Alternatives are in place, the spider will go on.
If anything, we're getting at least 30 chapters. Togashi already build up a buffer of 15 chapters so we will be getting hunter hunter chapters for quite a while

The Kakin treasures explain why the Princes are so powerful. I think they use the power of previous sacrificed Princes to energize the Kakin royalty before recollecting and enhancing its own power. Imagine how much more powerful Chrollo will become with that? Either that or Chrollo’s nen ability strengthens depending on how valuable the things he steals are.
I bet Chrollo already has a post-mortem Nen ready since he's already resolved to die. I think it is something that will massively boost the rest of Spider. 15:33 Also, this was more similar to Isaac Netero's face before he killed himself to activate Poor Man's Rose. A face of someone ready to die to take his enemy with him.
I liked the detailed drawings in this chapter too, felt like something Kentaro Miura would have done. Also the Zen Buddha and Blade of Divine Guidance alongside the Seed Urn being Kakin artifacts was an interesting twist. Things are gonna go down in Chapter 407
It’s cool that Togashi uses the new, updated Nen Chart lore in the actual story with Nen proficiency. I remember reading Chrollo’s ability wasn’t “perfected”yet, so now that he’s trying to evolve it is exciting, regardless if he succeeds or not

Franklin ironically seems to be the safest . and bono is also obviously at risk being the closest to hisoka and the succession but i think he won't push his luck until chrollo is with him dor until phinx and feitan are in tier 1.
Chrollo actually has a spider outlined byt the lines in that wonderful panel. Its subtle but you can make it out where his nose is the spider body and his hair the legs.
Damn the troupe for as much I love them, they’re sloppy sometimes, underestimating their opponents, Morena’s Family are trash but the other two carry themselves with some sense of professionalism and probably won’t take any slight even a losing a member lightly from anyone, they might not be as proficient in Nen but they definitely have the numbers and wont go down so easily like the York New city gangs.
yeah... they are quite reckless and for good reason. They are essentially the final boss of any black list hunter or anyone hunting criminals and are considered A rank in how difficult they are to capture / kill. And we were already primed to expect a fuck up sooner or later when bono quiteclearly stated that he doesn't have a head for startegy , and now we see why he says that.
Two topics in question that were not very well explained, but which I will try to clarify: 1) The person Chrollo is looking for in this phone skill is not Hisoka, as he himself specified that he tried to look for this person in the celestial arena and did not find (before even fighting Hisoka), which indicates that his battle with Hisoka was a plan b, reason why his preparation was so complex. But it also indicates that this search is just a definitive metric for exterminating Hisoka, which is why he doesn't worry so much about the risk of finding him, even unprepared for battle (in addition to his contingency plan in case he dies, which seems to circumvent this possibility) 2) The treasure that Chrollo is looking for is a perfect way for him to evolve the Hunter Skill, and due to the danger of the theft, it indicates an extraordinary power - which answers the question that many had when Togashi released that nen strength rating list in 2022, in which he classified Chrollo only as a genius of nen, and not supreme. Well, it seems that this was a narrative factor for the character's own lore. I believe he will achieve this goal, because by achieving this, he can (probably) save weak princes from the war of succession (like Fugetsu and Woble)
I always thought it was weird, Chrollo’s ideal of “even if the head is taken out, the legs will keep moving” cause like that doesn’t make any sense, on most things when you remove the head it’ll just die But if he’s going after the Kakin treasures to upgrade Skill Hunter in such a way that when he dies he manifests in some way with the book, a combination of ancient and post-mortem nen to eternally lead the spiders The idea of that is so cool
This chapter, I learned that characters (Chrollo, at least) can adjust their conditions after creating abilities. You could really imagine a post-Spider future for Kurapika if it weren't for the major death flags

Am I the only one that thinks post mortem nen is on the table for Chrollo? Dude has spent his entire life basically reinforcing the idea that the spider will go on after his death and how it will live on after him and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if hes planning on passing on his book or some other nen effect through the tattoos or something. Also he's leaving slot number nine blank on purpose, why?

I feel like Chrollo probably wants that to happen but it won't. Hisoka is going to make him watch as he kills the rest of the troupe as revenge for denying him his honorable 1v1 duel he wanted.
Nen World Review I would say Chrollo's face panel reminds more of Isacc Netero activating the poor mans rose, which honestly frightens me because it shows the resolve of Chrollo.
I am 100% sure the phantom troupe won’t meet their end by anyone but kurapika unless togashi has his character arc be letting go of revenge or something
I think they going down with Chrollo except for the new members. The spiders went through the trouble to get their leader back and Paku lost her life for it. They went against Chrollos wishes and i think he might fell guilty for still being alive
Actually I think they gonna meet their end by anyone who's NOT Kurapika (By hisoka most likely) which is totally Togashi's style of writing. He doesn't give you fated battles. He gives you the most unexpected yet satisfying ones. Hisoka ending the Troupe while Kurapika is unable to take his revenge would be a tragic ending for both Kurapika and the Troupe, and maybe even for Hisoka as well, if HE met his ending by Kurapika, after all!
I’m starting to think that chrollos will for the spider to live on in his death is so strong that it’ll invoke some sort of post mortem nen ability since he’s always been more worried about the spider more than his life. If he dies before all the other members I could definitely see it happening.
6:40 I can guess how Bonelly killed Lynch He completely acted out of character to reveal himself, and then broke a shocked Lynch's neck as he spun to undo his Battle Cantabile Metamorphesen ability.
Tbh neither of the 3 mafia families seemed intimidated of the Phantom troupe being on the ship. And what Henry showed us in this chapter puts him above Chrollo in terms of intelligence . The guy may be Pariston, Beyond or Ging level of raw intellect.
My biggest question while all the chaos on the ship is underway is, were is the hunter association? It would be cool if togashi does another flashback of the association deducting everything going on and them starting a counter operation to stop the ship from sinking.
They cant really do anything big on the ship because Kakin is still the big wolf in terms of government power in the black whale. We see an example of that when Cheadle (dog Zodiac) and Leorio took care of Prince Halkenburg but the Kakin doctors insist of taking everything. They made their little moves though back in chap 380, the Cow Zodiac already gave hints and warnings to the military of Kakin about the potential riot and paranoia in the ship because of many murders happening around.
My personal theory, however far-fetched, as that Chrollo is attempting to steal Bungee Gum from Hisoka. Bungee Gum's superpowered state via post-mortem seems like it could count towards Chrollo's requirement of stealing "the equivalent of a National Treasure (2004)," though admittedly we haven't really seen the extent of its potential yet. Presumably, by stealing Bungee Gum he would not only prevent Hisoka from keeping himself alive, but have permanent access to it via Post-Mortem. I told this theory to some fellows of mine, and one of them replied that Bungee Gum only restarted Hisoka's organs and maintains his missing parts, not that it keeps him alive actively. I'm not too sure about this, but even if true Chrollo could ensure Hisoka can't bring himself back to life a second time if Bungee Gum has been stolen. If this is true, the upcoming battle between him and Hisoka would revolve entirely around trying to get Hisoka to touch the cover of the book. He's obviously seen Bungee Gum before, and it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get Hisoka to answer a question about it (i.e. "What are the properties of your aura?" " *BUNGEE GUM POSSESSES THE PROPERTIES OF-* "); Chrollo might have some sort of direct Manipulation ability that could control Hisoka's hands to an extent, but more realistically (given Togashi's writing style), I can see Chrollo basically going in for a kamikaze run and taking any damage necessary for Hisoka's palm to ever so briefly touch the cover of Bandit's Secret.
I like this idea a lot. He’s already killed him, since that didn’t work the next step would be stealing the Nen power he’s so proud off. This would crush the very idea of Hisoka, his whole existence is finding and breaking strong toys.
eh, definitely far fetched, it definitely doesn't fit the concept of a National Treasure and Hisoka died from suffocation, so once he got his heart beating again it's unlikely he needed it to keep him alive
This is entirely possible because we don't know all the requirements of Bandit's Secret because Chrollo said that adding the bookmark came with new restrictions which have been theorized upon but not confirmed. A thief wouldn't exactly mind adding 'I must steal something of proportional importance before I can steal and add a new ability with Skill Hunter'. It allows him to put a lot of extra effort to enable 2 skills used at the same time - without adding any extra liabilities on himself during actual battle. And one can imagine the thievery has to be on par with what Chrollo thinks of the usefulness of the Nen ability. And well, I think he is very impressed with Bungee Gum and with Texture Surprise - and so it wouldn't be too crazy to think that now he also needs to steal some treasure that he feels is of extreme significance. Might also be why it took him so long to get all the requirements for the Hisoka fight when the 2 most important abilities were literally standing next to him and another was also held by a friendly figure in Meteor city, maybe he needed to pull some heists.
Can you imagine that this could be how it ends? It might also fit with Hisoka's arc with Gon. Both of them now POWERLESS, and they have to train again- eventually meeting, and that's when their fight to the death truly begins.
@@sharpssharps7930 There's very little chance of Gon ever going after Hisoka or vice versa, not just because Togashi knows he needs to reach an ending and thus isn't likely to bring Gon or Killua back to begin with - but there's simply no hostility, it will not be fitting for Gon to ever fight Hisoka with an intention to end him and thus Hisoka will never be interested. If Chrollo pulls this off - Hisoka is gone. But he won't, the black whale is where the story of both the spider and Kurapika ends.
Is Chrollo implying that he has some sort of post mortem nen abiliy related to the Spiders? He either implies that their autonomy is their strength and when he dies they can carry on (what we already understood about the troop's organization) or Chrollo's death would actually make them stronger somehow and that's his contingency plan.

Skill Hunter being able to upgrade based on his thieving feats is SO dope. He gained a bookmark last time and i was wondering how he did that. Instead of stealing an ability in particular it seems like he’s looking for a way to make skill hunter more efficient and dangerous.

He killed Hisoka with tbh low diff with one. One more way to supplant his conditions and it’s over.
@@Tyler_Frenzy I got the pretty opposite impression from that fight. Chrollo dominated but Hisoka showed tactical genius to even make that fight not an insta kill. Hisoka gave every advantage to Chrollo and still showed up unafraid, whereas Chrollo doesn't ever want to fight him without 100 contingencies in place. Hisoka is no longer fighting him handicapped by giving him every advantage for a greater challenge for himself. He doesn't care about his duel with Chrollo anymore, he just wants to kill them all. I think all this backstory and how the fight played out is the death flags being raised heavily and Hisoka is going to kill them all not in honorable duels, but just killing them efficiently as a way to spit in Chrollo's face for not giving him what he wanted.
Imagine the girl with the cell phone hatsu just used it once because her criteria directed her to Chrollo, who then managed to steal her ability after going on a fake date like he did with Neon LOL

If Nobu's sword was a conjured item he should be able to dismiss and recall it at will. Feitan also describes it as being hastily made which seems to point to it being a real sword though maybe Nobu has an ability that helps with crafting weapons since I have no idea where the facilities to make one would be on the ship.
maybe he can conjure swords but those swords are permanent. it'd require more aura than normal but not being able to dismiss the sword is also a limitation that makes it stronger
I immediately thought of Kurapika's training, where his teacher told him that conjured objects should have special properties, not be something normal. You can't conjure a sword that can cut anything, as that violates nen rules; you can, however, conjure a really sharp sword, but that would be dumb because why not just get a normal sharp sword? It being a condition for Nobu would make sense. Yes, it's just a sharp sword... but that's straightforward and dumb just like the person of Reinforcement class that he is. Another condition might be related to his lack of skill with Emission: the sword can't leave his possession or it disappears and he has to conjure a new one.
It's much more likely to be a normal sword though. The idea that he had to blacksmith a proper sword is incorrect though. So long as it's reasonably sword-shaped and sized, Nobu can just use Shu on the edge to make it sharp, the same way Hisoka does with playing cards. All he has to do is rip a piece of steel off the ship and grind it down a little to an approximate shape.
I'm guessing that the mafia just had a spare katana and some chain lying around and Nobu did some welding.
Perhaps he transmuted a piece of metal to make it into a sword or he poured his aura into a piece of metal and “enhanced” its capability.

Speaking of Kurapika's mentor, I also seem to recall that the more familiar you are with an object, the easier it is to conjure. Nobunaga seems to be with his sword 24/7, and he is often seen grabbing its hilt.
That scene with them climbing the stairs in the outer layer of the Black Whale No. 1 gives me massive Blame vibes, I wouldn't be surprised if Togashi had read that manga and got inspired to make some crazy giant machinery complete with an OSHA violating staircase

Never have I enjoyed such a chapter in a long time. The succession war was complicated enough, let alone adding the phantom troupe to the equation with their treasure hunting quest. Everyone is now hunting everyone.
One of the lowkey cool things Togashi's done with the last few chapters is by establishing Halkenburg's funeral we have this sort of signpost to build the chronology for these Phantom Troupe/Mafia chapters. It's also another example of how wonderfully interconnected the world of the Black Whale is for this arc, events resonate from the lowest tier to the highest and vice versa even if they're appear world's apart -- really helps build that metaphor for society that Togashi is painstakingly constructing with the Succession War.

I just assumed Chrollo's special upgrade to his book would be to allow him to steal someone else's power without needing to satisfy most or even all of the prerequisites . Then all he'd have to do is steal Hisoka's ability and kill him so that his Bungee Gum can't bring him back to life.
I guess it could also be the ability to literally steal someone's life or soul once certain conditions are met.

The mere logistics of having the sewage ABOVE level 5 is a nightmare. You'd either need to pump level 5's sewage upwards (which is inefficient), or you can leave the people there without sewage, so their grey water would just pile up, which doesn't seem to be happening. So the other option would be for them to have a separate sewage system. Perhaps not as advanced.

@@notKevinFeige guess what. I used to be a marine engineer (3rd), and I was the one responsible for the sewage system (amongst lots of other things). And yes, the sewage DOES indeed go into the ocean/sea, but not directly. Ships are forbidden from dumping their sewage while they are docked.
But let's say that their world has different laws and stuff. The 5th level will be below the water level, so it will still need some sort of pump to make enough pressure, so the grey water will go OUT of the ship instead of come into it through the pipes.
I feel like Hisoka and Chrollo killing each other is the most obvious and maybe best narrative choice. Although, it almost feels too predictable for Togashi.
The Quollo panel gave me the strong feeling he's made a death nen vow, like transferring power the the other troupe members in case he dies vs Hisoka (possibly through the spider tattoos)

I notice with nobunage, whenever he gets mad or interrogates someone, he always does a thing where he says something like, "speak without permission and I'll kill you, move and I'll kill you, try anything funny and I'll kill you!" Thay very well may be a condition for nobunaga to do a one hit kill on his opponents

I appreciate that you went over the sword aspect. I remembered previously that he'd lost that sword during his previous skirmish and was wondering where it'd gone and how he got it back. I find Nobunaga a fascinating character that's heavily being developed.
1. I lean towards Nobu smithing a new sword. That's because Feitan quips that it was a "rush job". But even if not conjured, Nen can still be involved to account for how quickly Nobu replaced it.
2. The oyster turning back into a transmitter is probably just the conjuration effect running out. He said in 398 it would revert in about 2 hours. The reversion happens before the scene revealing Lynch's corpse, so it likely wasn't because Hinrigh decided to deactivate the effect. That said, Togashi is flexible in showing the order and times of events.

The Kakin treasures explain why the Princes are so powerful. I think they use the power of previous sacrificed Princes to energize the Kakin royalty before recollecting and enhancing its own power. Imagine how much more powerful Chrollo will become with that? Either that or Chrollo’s nen ability strengthens depending on how valuable the things he steals are.

I liked the detailed drawings in this chapter too, felt like something Kentaro Miura would have done. Also the Zen Buddha and Blade of Divine Guidance alongside the Seed Urn being Kakin artifacts was an interesting twist. Things are gonna go down in Chapter 407

It’s cool that Togashi uses the new, updated Nen Chart lore in the actual story with Nen proficiency. I remember reading Chrollo’s ability wasn’t “perfected”yet, so now that he’s trying to evolve it is exciting, regardless if he succeeds or not

Chrollo actually has a spider outlined byt the lines in that wonderful panel. Its subtle but you can make it out where his nose is the spider body and his hair the legs.
Damn the troupe for as much I love them, they’re sloppy sometimes, underestimating their opponents, Morena’s Family are trash but the other two carry themselves with some sense of professionalism and probably won’t take any slight even a losing a member lightly from anyone, they might not be as proficient in Nen but they definitely have the numbers and wont go down so easily like the York New city gangs.
yeah... they are quite reckless and for good reason. They are essentially the final boss of any black list hunter or anyone hunting criminals and are considered A rank in how difficult they are to capture / kill.
And we were already primed to expect a fuck up sooner or later when bono quiteclearly stated that he doesn't have a head for startegy , and now we see why he says that.

Two topics in question that were not very well explained, but which I will try to clarify:
1) The person Chrollo is looking for in this phone skill is not Hisoka, as he himself specified that he tried to look for this person in the celestial arena and did not find (before even fighting Hisoka), which indicates that his battle with Hisoka was a plan b, reason why his preparation was so complex. But it also indicates that this search is just a definitive metric for exterminating Hisoka, which is why he doesn't worry so much about the risk of finding him, even unprepared for battle (in addition to his contingency plan in case he dies, which seems to circumvent this possibility)
2) The treasure that Chrollo is looking for is a perfect way for him to evolve the Hunter Skill, and due to the danger of the theft, it indicates an extraordinary power - which answers the question that many had when Togashi released that nen strength rating list in 2022, in which he classified Chrollo only as a genius of nen, and not supreme. Well, it seems that this was a narrative factor for the character's own lore. I believe he will achieve this goal, because by achieving this, he can (probably) save weak princes from the war of succession (like Fugetsu and Woble)
I always thought it was weird, Chrollo’s ideal of “even if the head is taken out, the legs will keep moving” cause like that doesn’t make any sense, on most things when you remove the head it’ll just die
But if he’s going after the Kakin treasures to upgrade Skill Hunter in such a way that when he dies he manifests in some way with the book, a combination of ancient and post-mortem nen to eternally lead the spiders

Am I the only one that thinks post mortem nen is on the table for Chrollo? Dude has spent his entire life basically reinforcing the idea that the spider will go on after his death and how it will live on after him and all that. I wouldn't be surprised if hes planning on passing on his book or some other nen effect through the tattoos or something. Also he's leaving slot number nine blank on purpose, why?

I feel like Chrollo probably wants that to happen but it won't. Hisoka is going to make him watch as he kills the rest of the troupe as revenge for denying him his honorable 1v1 duel he wanted.
Nen World Review I would say Chrollo's face panel reminds more of Isacc Netero activating the poor mans rose, which honestly frightens me because it shows the resolve of Chrollo.

I think they going down with Chrollo except for the new members. The spiders went through the trouble to get their leader back and Paku lost her life for it. They went against Chrollos wishes and i think he might fell guilty for still being alive
Actually I think they gonna meet their end by anyone who's NOT Kurapika (By hisoka most likely) which is totally Togashi's style of writing. He doesn't give you fated battles. He gives you the most unexpected yet satisfying ones. Hisoka ending the Troupe while Kurapika is unable to take his revenge would be a tragic ending for both Kurapika and the Troupe, and maybe even for Hisoka as well, if HE met his ending by Kurapika, after all!
I can almost guarantee you that Kurapika will not kill Chrollo.
I’m starting to think that chrollos will for the spider to live on in his death is so strong that it’ll invoke some sort of post mortem nen ability since he’s always been more worried about the spider more than his life. If he dies before all the other members I could definitely see it happening.

My biggest question while all the chaos on the ship is underway is, were is the hunter association? It would be cool if togashi does another flashback of the association deducting everything going on and them starting a counter operation to stop the ship from sinking.
They cant really do anything big on the ship because Kakin is still the big wolf in terms of government power in the black whale. We see an example of that when Cheadle (dog Zodiac) and Leorio took care of Prince Halkenburg but the Kakin doctors insist of taking everything. They made their little moves though back in chap 380, the Cow Zodiac already gave hints and warnings to the military of Kakin about the potential riot and paranoia in the ship because of many murders happening around.
My personal theory, however far-fetched, as that Chrollo is attempting to steal Bungee Gum from Hisoka.
Bungee Gum's superpowered state via post-mortem seems like it could count towards Chrollo's requirement of stealing "the equivalent of a National Treasure (2004)," though admittedly we haven't really seen the extent of its potential yet. Presumably, by stealing Bungee Gum he would not only prevent Hisoka from keeping himself alive, but have permanent access to it via Post-Mortem.
I told this theory to some fellows of mine, and one of them replied that Bungee Gum only restarted Hisoka's organs and maintains his missing parts, not that it keeps him alive actively. I'm not too sure about this, but even if true Chrollo could ensure Hisoka can't bring himself back to life a second time if Bungee Gum has been stolen.
If this is true, the upcoming battle between him and Hisoka would revolve entirely around trying to get Hisoka to touch the cover of the book. He's obviously seen Bungee Gum before, and it probably wouldn't be too difficult to get Hisoka to answer a question about it (i.e. "What are the properties of your aura?" " *BUNGEE GUM POSSESSES THE PROPERTIES OF-* "); Chrollo might have some sort of direct Manipulation ability that could control Hisoka's hands to an extent, but more realistically (given Togashi's writing style), I can see Chrollo basically going in for a kamikaze run and taking any damage necessary for Hisoka's palm to ever so briefly touch the cover of Bandit's Secret.
I like this idea a lot. He’s already killed him, since that didn’t work the next step would be stealing the Nen power he’s so proud off. This would crush the very idea of Hisoka, his whole existence is finding and breaking strong toys.
eh, definitely far fetched, it definitely doesn't fit the concept of a National Treasure and Hisoka died from suffocation, so once he got his heart beating again it's unlikely he needed it to keep him alive
This is entirely possible because we don't know all the requirements of Bandit's Secret because Chrollo said that adding the bookmark came with new restrictions which have been theorized upon but not confirmed.
A thief wouldn't exactly mind adding 'I must steal something of proportional importance before I can steal and add a new ability with Skill Hunter'.
It allows him to put a lot of extra effort to enable 2 skills used at the same time - without adding any extra liabilities on himself during actual battle.
And one can imagine the thievery has to be on par with what Chrollo thinks of the usefulness of the Nen ability.
And well, I think he is very impressed with Bungee Gum and with Texture Surprise - and so it wouldn't be too crazy to think that now he also needs to steal some treasure that he feels is of extreme significance.
Might also be why it took him so long to get all the requirements for the Hisoka fight when the 2 most important abilities were literally standing next to him and another was also held by a friendly figure in Meteor city, maybe he needed to pull some heists.
Can you imagine that this could be how it ends? It might also fit with Hisoka's arc with Gon. Both of them now POWERLESS, and they have to train again- eventually meeting, and that's when their fight to the death truly begins.
@@sharpssharps7930 There's very little chance of Gon ever going after Hisoka or vice versa, not just because Togashi knows he needs to reach an ending and thus isn't likely to bring Gon or Killua back to begin with - but there's simply no hostility, it will not be fitting for Gon to ever fight Hisoka with an intention to end him and thus Hisoka will never be interested.
If Chrollo pulls this off - Hisoka is gone.
But he won't, the black whale is where the story of both the spider and Kurapika ends.
I would love if the independence that makes the Troupe so fearsome is the thing that ends up ending it.

Is Chrollo implying that he has some sort of post mortem nen abiliy related to the Spiders? He either implies that their autonomy is their strength and when he dies they can carry on (what we already understood about the troop's organization) or Chrollo's death would actually make them stronger somehow and that's his contingency plan.
I have constantly been wrong at guessing this stuff but the official english translation kinda left me feeling the ladder.
