I think Hisoka mostly finds Kurapika more entertaining as an observer than as an opponent. Hisoka is not interested in being part of Kurapika’s elaborate revenge quest, but he IS wildly entertained by watching Kurapika try and tear apart the Spiders.
@@dragodraco7511he didn’t at first though. He wants to kill Chrollo only. He is only killing all of the troupe because he lost to Chrollo and got angry at him, so he is killing the people that is the most important thing to him, in order to give a reason to Chrollo actually fight him (and also because he was mad and threw a bit of a tantrum).
I honestly think his friendship with Illumi is genuine... As far as friendship between sociopathic killers is possible... Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Hisoka relishes the idea of one day going 1v1 with Illumi- but right now a certain troupe and their leader has his attention. And on that note, Hisoka prioritizing the Spiders is also the reason why Hisoka isn't focusing on Kurapika.
But even with Illumi he entertained the thought of killing killua so he can fight illumi. He’s never shown that kinda interest in kurapika. If he really wanted to fight kurapika he would just become an actual spider
My theory is that Machi is in a different category than Hisoka's other interests bc it's her *support* ability he's enamored with. He wants to watch her sew limbs back on more than he wants his usual murderfuck from her.
I think Hisoka is deadass in love with Machi in the most normal way possible. He just doesn't understand why he is so interested in someone who he knows can't beat him in a fight. So he doesn't know how to express or even accept it
I feel like it's pretty obvious why hisoka isn't interested in kurapika but from the replies I've been reading it doesn't seem like many people get it surprisingly. It's fairly obvious, to me at least, that it's simply kurapikas personality that hisoka doesn't resonate with. And by this I mean that even though kurapikas goal is revenge he doesn't even enjoy the task, he wasn't happy when he killed uvo, it made him sick. Kurapkia is a very diplomatic person and would rather resolve issues with words, hisoka on the other hand is looking for opponents who are not only strong but kindred spirits ie; battle junkies like Gon and Killua. People that enjoy fighting for the simple thrill of it. Fighting kurapika would be like competing against someone that doesn't care about winning, it's a hollow victory even if you do win the fight so there's no point.
Yeah I've always thought the same thing but in a strange way I don't think Chrollo is much different in that regard. Chrollo seems to be mostly calm, cold, collected. Not the type to get heated up in a fight. Not the type to really enjoy the fights either. It's just business.
@@sindri1447 I mean if fighting is a business to Chrollo, then he very much enjoys business hence enjoying fighting. I think from my understanding, Hisoka only fights people who is strong and has the will to fight and enjoy it. Kurapika despise fighting for no reason, Chrollo imagine fighting as business, and if it helps him, than he enjoys it
I think perhaps the main reason is that Kurapika doesn't care about fighting beyond its necessity and has no ambition besides killing the spiders. There's no energy to direct directly to Hisoka besides him being a troupe member, and only in the most technical sense. Kurapike would gladly die as long as every troupe member is also dead, but that's the only thing in the world he cares about. Basically, it would be an empty relationship for Hisoka.
The thing is once Hisoka realizes how much stronger and experienced Kurapika is. He might start planning out scenarios to screw Kurapika over. Hisoka does not know just how far Kurapika will go for the sake of revenge yet. Once he does he will use that to his advantage. Remember he had the crazy face when he contemplated the idea of killing Alluka and or Killua. That way both Illumi AND Killua would want him dead. He could do something similar to the Troupe. Right now he doesn't realize that Kurapika is capable of becoming a far greater threat than all of the Troupe combined.
@@mee091000they're both assassins tho and while killua doesn't like the job he has literally zero issues with murder the go to response, that's why hisoka already has shwing for them, blonde dude different he'd try to talk too much first. It'd be like too much bad foreplay
@@d-skullgaming696 he's probably level-headed enough to realize that he influenced the outcome enough to blame himself rather than the other party who followed the deal to the letter. Also it was not a cancellation but a reschedule of his playtime.
It's just like when he provokes Illumi into revealing his position to Killua. I believe Hisoka sees what Kurapika did as fair game, and part of the play.
I do wonder if Kurapika is on his shit list. Hisoka may not have had time to act on any hatred. He was busy chasing Chrollo, and Kurapika isn't easy to track himself. He was likely going all over the place in secrecy to do his underworld dealings.
I always thought Hisoka became disinterested when Kurapika showed his chains because it was effectively Kurapika saying, “I only have eyes for the spiders” and he acted as if he had to fight Hisoka only as a last resort, and wasn’t interested in fighting him. Seriously, it’s more Kurapika friendzoned Hisoka, not the other way around
@@yokuboutozetsubou because that’s the only way he could gain that much power in such a short time. He was weaker than killua before learning nen. If you think about it many people could do something similar to what kurapika did. Everybody he wants to fight is insanely talented and is maximizing their talent for the most part.

@@vextair no, emperors time is sacrificing his life span. Every second in ET is like an hour off his life. That condition would allow most nen users to amplify their nen. I’m not saying they can use the same technique. Don’t be dense
As we saw in the beginning during the hunter exam, Hisoka wouldn't kill the man begging to die in combat. Hisoka isn't interested in anyone he considers just a martyr or straight up suicidal individual. Kuripika burns himself like a candle but from both ends all to meet his goal of revenge. Kuripika's max output is only as strong as his lust for revenge and once revenge is obtained it's useless, worse yet power obtained is devours ones life. Hisoka has no interest in walking corpses. Which kuripika at this point is just that with superficial (fast fleeting) abilities. Hisoka wants one who's lust to get stronger and live is uncompromisable not just enough to accomplish a set goal.
Gon is like a parrot. Ever playful, gets very emotionally invested and will put effort into achieving what he deems right. Chrollo is like an Owl. Pounces at prey on the hunt, camouflages and hides when nothing to be gained, but will deal with the issues presented with the respect they deserve. But Kurapika is like a crow. He responds to each situation with care and his goals in mind, uses all tools at his disposal to finish the task and his grudges are eternal. Messing with Crows isn't fun, as they won't continue a losing fight, but if they have to, they will make sure to go for damage instead of competition.
Not really honestly, you gotta keep in mind Netero had to train up for a WHILE before being able to square up with Meruem. Remember when he showed his aura to that ant dude, and he said he'd get clapped by a royal guard? So it's quite likely Netero was on Hisoka tier, not saying Hisoka would win, but it wouldn't be an easy fight.
@@lifenote1943 the ant man never said that he'd get clapped by a royal guard, he said that "he was not strong enough", which changes anything. Netero was still stronger than hisoka even at this time
Hisoka also made a promise to let Kurapike's group go after they spoke in the 4th test in the Hunter's license test, where Kurapike offered him a nametag for the price. This here on, Hisoka doesn't fight him anymore, he is honoring the deal he accepted.
@@gromplin I was going to spell it wrong differently everytime, but then thought people will just think I am all sorts of retarded, so just went with the obvious.
@Diego Palacios, after that, they just trade ideas like pokemon cards. hisoka give uvogin to kurapica kurapica, giving the leader of the spider without nen
I think Hisoka enjoys the chaos Kurapika creates, plus Kurapika's actions mostly benefit Hisoka, even on the Whale he might consider him an asset. Or maybe Hisoka can relate to Kurapika's vendetta to some level 🤨
I kinda figured that part of the reason Hisoka won’t fight Kurapika is because Hisoka wants to fight people at their strongest, and most of Kurapika’s best abilities are based around only fighting the phantom troupe.
That was my assumption too. The prospect of fighting someone whose abilities are primarily targeted towards someone/something so extremely specific, doesn't sound like it would be exciting for him. And plus, if NWR's metaphors explained nothing else, Hisoka might consider Kurapika as still Battle-Platonic or maybe even Battle-romance competition rather than any potential Love interest lol. He knows Kurapika has no interest in him and won't waste energy. He's got too much self-respect.
Plot twist: Murderclown joins the PT and fights Kurapika before he takes down the PT from within. I guess it’s impossible because they’d never let him join after what happened to Shalnark and Kortopi tho.
Damn this guy is trully hero, even the story is currently "AFK" this guy still make content out of it to keep the hype going to the community Respect to this guy, respect to the series.. there are lot of mistery that we can analize and talk about
I think Hisoka realises that much like Gon or Killua, the riper the fruit the better the harvest. In my opinion Hisoka sees the obsession that Kurapika has towards the troupe and thinks that for Kurapika to be a fun sparring partner he needs his sole focus. So he is using Kurapika and even helping him with the troupe, but once Kurapika has reached his goal, then Hisoka can strike and take something precious to him away. Be it friends or colleagues or his clans eyes being destroyed and only then he would fight him because otherwise there is no incentive for Kurapika to fight him seriously. Its the same thing with Chrollo, Hisoka realised that a "fair fight" is not taken that seriously by Chrollo so he takes things away that will lead to more interesting fights that are being taken extremely seriously.
Hisoka has been known to accurately guage people's potential, and not just in Nen usage. Most of his interest in Machi appears to stem from his fascination with how her ability heals people. This implies that so long as you're extremely good at what you do, even if it's not fighting, then you'll probably catch Hisoka's interest in some capacity should you run across him. His interest in Leorio could stem from a potential for something Hisoka couldn't quite put his finger on, and Hisoka may end up trying to use Leorio as his go-to doctor should Machi perish. Following this line of reasoning, Hisoka probably isn't interested in Kurapika due to a lack of baseline potential as opposed to Kurapika running away. The reason I say this is due to a common theme among Nen Geniuses; an accidental discovery of a usage of Nen without knowing what Nen is. Machi could see auras prior to learning Nen, and she's caught Hisoka's eye. Gon learned Zetsu before he realized Nen was a thing, and he's both caught Hisoka's attention and been stated to be a rare talent. Killua could recognize Nen usage without knowing what it was, and even relate it back to presences he's felt before, and he's both piqued Hisoka's interest and been cited as a rare talent. Komugi developed a whole Nen ability without knowing that supernatural forces existed. I would have liked to know what Hisoka thought of her, but she was probably about as talented as Gon and Killua, just an extreme Gungi savant. When you stop to think about it, Kurapika was implied to have been around Nen Users his whole life (Uvogin called the Kurta strong, which wouldn't have happened if the Kurta didn't use Nen), but unlike Killua, he never developed a Nen-related skill naturally. He had to be flat-out told what Nen was in order to learn anything about it. This implies average at best Nen talent, and it's not like Kurapika was going to be doing anything but fighting. Most of Kurapika's Nen prowess comes from the restrictions he puts on himself. Chrollo probably also has roughly average talent, he's just experienced enough with a wacky enough ability and a large enough aura reserve for Hisoka to look past his relative lack of talent. Kurapika will likely never reach that point, even if his strength does surpass Chrollo's. Sorry that was so long.
Just before Kurapika was taught what nen was, he was able to sense an attack from it and dodge accordingly. Though that was more likely just being able to sense general danger since he couldn't see nen or even feel the aura of the guy who attacked him after the fact. So yeah I agree that at least where it comes to nen he likely an average talent level.
Kurapika knew there was other forces I mean his eyes alone is from another source the thing is kurapika doesn’t enjoy the thrill of the fight the Kurta is a peaceful clan so that can probably turn hisoka off bc all the ppl he does like all enjoy the thrill of the fight or chase I mean that’s what truly a hunter is
Everyone Hisoka wants to fight is a blooming plant or fully matured, Kurapika feels more like a log on a fire. He keeps giving up his life to pursue his goal of revenge. Whenever Gon did similar it was always for the fight he was in. Like losing an arm against Genthru. Kurapika can't dedicate himself like that to a single fight, he'll always be distracted even if only metaphorical by having of his chains being useless making him less interesting.
It's a pretty simple reason to me. Hisoka knows he won't get an all-out fight from Kurapika. Despite how capable of a planner and fighter he is, he's out for revenge for his people - and Hisoka had nothing to do with that. Maybe if Gon or Killua ever show back up and Hisoka does something to anger Kurapika, Hisoka will be interested in fighting at that point.
He's more likely to touch Leorio than Gon and Killua tho. Coz he wants to fight them too remember? And they have held his interest quite more than Leorio.
These metaphors absolutely killed me😂. Honestly the only scene I can think where Kurapika ignited any arousal from Hisoka was when the former bargained that badge he had from the Hunter Exam and I believe it's because that was the only time Kurapika showed true incentive on fighting Hisoka. Sadly for our murder clown, that was a one time thing.
You forgot to mention another reason , that as Hisoka isn't a spider, Kurapika will never be able to show is full potential, and i think this is a turn off for Hisoka
At this point, I don't care what video you cover. You're the only UA-cam I have the bell on for. You earned my attention every time a video comes up. Cause of the funny animation, your corny jokes, or just insight you had and make it more fun to re read.
Kurapika is more of a traditional shonen "fighting for a cause" he hates fighting unlike Gon Hisoka ect. I also think Hisoka kind of had a read on Kurapika in the York New meeting and how he gained power to fight the troupe so quickly (especially considering the timing) which would mostly be ineffective fighting Hisoka who isnt in the troupe
Although they have different nen affinities, Kurapika is very specific with his nen use, and Hisoka has a more well-rounded use of Bungee Gum, which has the properties of both rubber and gum.
Some people says that Kurapika was uninteresting because his nen is only tailored against the Spiders, but Emperor Time alone is such an insane cheat code that maxed out all his nen types to 100% to the point that his Kyokakei (Enhancement) alone is on par with Uvogin, who to this day is still probably the strongest Kyokakei user in the series. With the other Nen just advanced as that, he’d be a massive fun to play with for Hisoka I’d bet.
I think that Hisoka has three general criteria for the people he wants to fight: 1) The person would like to fight him without too much trouble. 2) The person can potentially kill him. 3) He can potentially kill that person. The first criteria implies that he needs to know somewhat the person. At first glance he might be interested in someone if they seem like the kind of person that would fight him, provoked or not. Thats why he is interested in Ging, even if he didn’t met him, because he assumes that he would be similar to Gon. But Kurapika is not someone who is easily provoked (unless, of course, you are from the phantom troupe). The second criteria is the “fun” part of the game. Given enough training or abilities, there is a chance that Hisoka might die. There is a risk, and therefore a higher reward if Hisoka is able to win/kill his adversary. And obviously Kurapika can kill Hisoka if he wants. But the third criteria is the one that Hisoka might be in doubts with Kurapika. Again: he battles because the risk of his death and the reward of killing arouses him. But Kurapika has too many cumbersome abilities, and he is able to use them all “at the same time”. He has many abilities that counter Hisoka: great healing (Hisoka can’t damage him more than uvogin, therefore Kurapika can heal of anything that doesn’t outright kill him), a chain that, if connects, is a 1HKO (the judgement chain), he has really advance knowledge of men and how to use it, and he is a flexible strategist. I think that Hisoka knows he wouldn’t be able to kill Kurapika in a fight, and therefore, he just doesn’t care to fight him
How hisoka knows about all the Kurapika chain abilities? In the most extreme case knows about Chain Jail and Judgement Jail, and that´s it. Probably even these are only theories or unknown to hisoka.
@@Naluh he knows about judgment chain because Chrollo told him after knowing that he was not from the troupe, and the reason why he was not able to fight him. He knows of the dowsing chain because it’s Kurapika main attack. He knows about the jail chain because Kurapika trapped Uvogin and Chrollo, and trapping those two would mean for hisoka a non-escape scenario, but probably he doesn’t know that it is only usable with a member of the troupe. With only those three and knowing Kurapika personality and way of thinking, he can guess that the other two are equally dangerous, specially given that he already killed uvogin which wouldn’t have been an easy fight for anyone. Still, I think the most probable reason is that Kurapika wouldn’t fight him, and he wouldn’t be able to provoke him into one. The only provoke he would have is telling Kurapika that he is a member from the troupe (which wouldn’t work for obvious reasons, and because he already was/faked it).
@@rainksrod In HxH, knowing only the effects of one ability it´s not the same as understand ALL of it. Almost everyone hides his limitations, conditions, even part of his effect if they can. Hisoka can know that Kurapika can impose a law in other people, but not more than that, and dowsing chain...the less hidden of the chains, but never used as guide near Hisoka, then, Hisoka knows almost nothing about it. Emperor Time? Forget it, only Gon knows about it.
I actually think this might be Togashi subtly misdirecting you. It wouldn't surprize me at all if Kurapika, the most obvious of obvious choices, turns out to be the next target after Hisoka is done with Chrollo. If you consider Hisoka, he's someone who would probably continue in one direction and without notice, do a 180 and go for something that we should've seen coming but we were too distracted with other choices.
You have to remember that Kurapika can't use his full potential against those who are not currently members of the Spiders, meaning since Hisoka is no longer affiliated, they can't have a satisfactory battle, so no matter what Hisoka doesn't get what he wants from him.
i have the theory that Kurapika and Hisoka knew each other before the Hunter exam well its week its mostly supported by the fact that Hisoka knew about that Kurapika is after the Spiders but its never clearly stated how he knew only asumptions
i think kurapika is too self destructive and caught up in revenge to even be close to pursuing himself like gon and hisoka pre greed island. but when push comes to shove, kurapika can beat chrollo when third parties arent involved, the only reason he couldnt kill chrollo was his love for gon and killua. and if kurapika can beat chrollo, but hisoka cant, doesnt that inadvertently mean kurapika can beat hisoka?
You read it like typical shonen power level Kurapika only “beat” Chrollo by catching him off guard in a unique and specific scenario He didn’t fight Chrollo head on That doesn’t meant Kurapika is stronger than Hisoka Also unlike Hisoka, Kurapika has a literal “one hit KO” move on the troupe
Also I would say with Kurapika's current abilities he wouldn't make the most enjoyable battle for Hisoka. Kurapika designed his abilities with the sole purpose of fighting the troupe, and while he has proven himself capable of taking down Nen users in prince Benjamin's army, I don't think he would be able to go against Hisoka in a way that would be enjoyable for him. Either Kurapika steals Hisoka's Bungee Gum and Hisoka immediately dies or Kurapika becomes ensnared in Bungee Gum and instantly loses.
The only ability that’s solely for Spider members is chain jail. All of the other chains can be used to fight anyone else outside of the Troupe. While that chain would be very useful against Hisoka, it doesn’t disqualify him from having a great fight with him. Kurapika could actually steal Bungee gum and use it against Hisoka if he wanted to using the Steal chain. His biggest limitation is losing an hour of life every second while in emperor time.
@@derekgandlofini8058 not a fanboy bro. I actually fw Hisoka more than anyone on the show lmao. I too believe Hisoka will win but we’re not about to sit here and pretend Kurapika powers are only limited to fighting spiders.
@@L8roars The thing is, if Kurapika stole Hisoka's Bungee Gum then hisoka would lose basically all of his limbs. Remember, Hisoka lost an arm, all of the fingers on his other arm and one of his feet. So while I think you do have a point, the fight would be over basically instantly.
In short Hisoka knew that kurapika will restrict his nen ability in order to revenge so it’s pointless to fight him.. yet that doesn’t mean kurapika is worst than other
This whole video was outta pocket. You made the one normal part, a normal romantic interest, seem weird and uncomfortable too just by how you worded it. I love it! Just how a Hisoka focused video should be.
Yeah but hisoka has been a spider…I think hisoke won’t fight him because it won’t be fun it’ll be an execution Kurapika is very strong and hisoka can sense nen
@@johnnygoddamn1456 hisoka was never actually a spider so the second kurapika attacks him his own nen will kill him for breaking his own rules, hisoka would not have a fun fight
The answer to this one is because Hisoka doesn't see Kurapika as a fully ripened fruit yet ready to be picked. While Hisoka acknowledges Kurapika's strength to the point he sought his help in the Yorkshin arc against the Troupe, Kurapika is just not interested in fighting him, unlike Gon for instance. So if he Hisoka fought him and ended killing him, it would be a waste since Kurapika wouldn't had reached his full potential at that point. Hisoka's way of choosing who to target next became even more clear during the Election arc when he was torn between killing Alluka or letting her live to save Gon, but came up with a twisted plan instead in which he kills Alluka to gain Killua's hate, then kills Killua to gain Illumi's hate. From that, you can understand why Hisoka doesn't go after Kurapika or Killua for that matter. He wants them to have the motive to fight him, preferably revenge since that seems to make everyone more powerful in the HxH world, much like Kurapika against the Troupe, Gon against the Chimera Ants, and Illumi against anyone who wants to take Killua away.
Liam, like always you blew my mind.. But I have one thing I disagree with you in. @02:45 you said, and I'm not quoting you, Kurapika doesn't understand that perspective. But he actually was the first to shed some light on Hisoka's possible motives to Gon (and to us) when they were walking together and that's when Gon said it was scary but also fun, if I'm not mistaken. Just wanted to point that out! Thank you for your amazing work, good sir!
Well.. now on a second thought, I guess you meant it in the sense that Kurapika isn't built like that... not that he doesn't actually understand what that is.
I think the reason why Hisoka refuses to fight Kurapika is because Hisoka thinks of Kurapika as a broken toy due to Kurapika's way of using nen meaning that kurapika will soon die due to his shortened lifespan using his abilities solely for revenge. An example of this is when Hisoka refused to fight that spear dude at earlier episodes because he is already dying as Illumi's prey.
I'm pretty sure that Hisoka already had an intense obsession with Chrollo prior to meeting Kurapika. Now that obsession has grown significantly more intense. But I would still like to see a genuine fight between them. Absolutely.
Hisoka VS Kurapika would begin with Kurapika sweating to himself wondering what Hisoka's ability could be then Hisoka just explains bungee gum unprompted.
My theory about hisoka is that his goal is like the house of cards he builds in the first scenes. He likes to put down some cards to make a high but fragile and delicate structure, and he wants to be the one that makes it crumble after so much effort by his "encouragement" or the other nen user. So probably he doesn't go after kurapika because he probably noticed quickly that kurapika's path will lead him to ruin, and that house of cards would fall over eventually without giving him the satisfaction, and kurapika didn't reach the peak of nen due to effort of placing a "card" for his strenght, Kurapika cheated because of his restrictions. However chrollo is a house of cards that is built upon many efforts and stolen nen skills which can still grow but they have been stablished and the thing is stable, so he wants to topple it down. Hisoka percieved that Gon would definitively grow that castle out of his efforts and experiences. And Kastro probably had the worst idea for his nen ability and his affinities, but still Hisoka accepted the battle because though small, its still a castle that was built by Kastro's efforts.
I think Hisoka gets a whole other type of pleasure with the back and forth Kurapika and him have established, he's constantly looking for a physical challenge, but i think he's also looking for a mental one, and the York New city situation is what concreted good ol Pika pika as that challenge.
I think Hizoka simply realized Kurapika could satisfy his desires more indirectly by making a fight with Chrollo possible. And the reason he went for Chrollo is because the fight would be exciting enough he was worth all the insane effort he went through by infiltrating the spiders.
8:13 really should be the thumbnail on a Hisoka psychology video or something. Not because thirst, but because it is incredibly accurate to the character and it would be hilarious for that to be one (for me).
I imagine that the reason some less-than-stellar hunters are in Hisoka's toybox is because he sees them as potential one-fight-stands. Not insignificant enough that he wouldn't particularly care if they did fight, but not significant enough to feel any lingering feelings if he Togari'd them.
I think I can answer this one. Hisoka only has an interest in people who are strong or those who have potential to become strong so he can fight them later. As shown by the Election arc Hisoka measures everyone on a scale of who he wants to fight. If you look at the toy chest Kurapika is in there along with many other notable characters, however given the fact that Kurapika's peak powers are only magnified to fight against Phantom Troupe members Kurapika is in a lesser tier of options. Just one of many threads he can attach himself to or detach himself from as he wishes.. just like his bungee gum.
Maybe Hisoka does not get excited by Kurapika because the contact lenses hides the "fire" behind his resolve (not just the obvious red Kurta eyes, but the deep desires that motivate characters). Hisoka is good at reading people, likes to be up close and in your face (often too close) and does like the "look" in Gon's eyes during their fight. Maybe if Kurapika stared at him with flaming red eyes seething with purpose, Hisoka would get his schwing on.
I can't tell if this is a joke or not, I'm usually good at reading sarcasm but your message was longer than most people type when they're being sarcastic so I'm going to assume you're being serious. If you're being serious then I'm pretty sure the reason hisoka doesn't care about fighting kurapika is because kurapika does not enjoy senseless fighting like hisoka does. That simple
Hisoka is a weird guy, but he likes-likes Maki. He's literally sweet for her any chance he gets. He's trying to lay game down. I havent read the Manga but I know him and Maki are gonna have their time. At least a moment where he proves something to her, and she falls for him a little.
I really don't think so. Spoilers: Currently they are flat out trying to murder each other in a not-very-romantic way. The entire Troupe is after Hisoka and Hisoka is after the entire Troupe.
@@jankelen damn… haha, that made me sad for a second. Oh well, can’t call them all. Didn’t think the writer would go that way. Thought he’d want to explore that side of an interesting character like Hisoka. Damn shame.
@@joshbeamon Well, I'm solidly not on the Hisoka x Machi train (I just don't understand how people ship them-- Hisoka hits on her, she rejects him. I really didn't read into it), so it's possible other people have interpreted things differently. More spoilers: She did want to stitch up his corpse after his fight with Chrollo, since Hisoka had paid in advance. Then he came back to life and told her to tell the Troupe he'd be going after all of them from now on. He spared her that one time, though. Now she's reallyyyy mad at him.
So basically the only way to avoid getting killed by hisoka is to be a weaker opponent than whoever he's trying to fight the most. That and basically running away and keeping distance from him at all times.
I think the very simple answer to that is: Hisoka knows that Kurapika's objectives are to avenge his clan and to retrieve all the kurta eyes. Hisoka is not fond of playing against opponents who are half-hearted in battling with him. This is also why he let Leorio live, because he knows that if it comes to battling to death one-on-one with him, he would at least fight against an opponent that would give everything they have despite knowing their huge difference in terms of power and abilities.
In short, Hisoka probably sees hurting Kurapika as a way to spice up his relationship with Gon. Imagine how mad Gon would be if Hisoka unlifed Kurapika right in front of him, it would drive Gon to levels of rage and anger that he could never reach before, becoming all the riper fruit. And Hisoka is fully aware of the fact that Gon really values his friends and protecting them drives him to new heights of power.
Something I've wondered is what would happen if kurapika used chain jail on someone like hisoka. How exactly does the ability determine if someone is part of the phantom troupe or not? Is it based on what kurapika thinks? Or the target? Would it work in a former member like hisoka or not
I think if he truly believes the person is part of spider it would work but say if he does it on someone that he later finds out there not a part of spider his chain will kill him
Ultimately Kurapika is the worst kind of opponent for Hisoka for the same reasons as Chrollo, he's a strategist. Essentially it's the same draw as Joker being drawn to the Batman, his most desired opponents are those he can't easily get a rise out of. But a cool head is also an actual danger and risk to him. That said though can't "play with two Batmans at once". Though I suppose obsess over is probably more accurate.
I both want them to leave each other alone and fight against each other in equal measure😩 either way just more screentime / panels w them together pls lol
To me I think it's More about who he's most interested in at the moment, cuz if he really just wanted a random good fight he could of just attacked netero or illumi when he meet them, but he knew that netero would definitely easily kill him, and illumi and him are Soo close in strength that fight could end in either death or permanent injury, the simple fact is the person that he was most interested in fighting, even back then was chorolo, he could of even fought razor who's pretty much a weaker version of adult Gon, but again, it's about who he's genuinely interested in, cuz even though razor was showing crazy strength and all those clones, hisoka barely commented on his strength cuz he was too interested in Gon's power.
Can't wait for this to get proven wrong in 60 years

I think he doesn't want to fight him anytime soon because their relationship is too beneficial. Kinda like the one he has with Illumi
Also kurapika only cares about the spiders, so he's not gonna get what he really wants lol
@@javierpatag3609 I agree i think the only character hisoka enjoys being is around is illumi

To be honest i think Hisoka has something more than "lust" towards Machi. He seems to respect her and generally care for her 🤷
Yea he wants to hit that

I think Hisoka is deadass in love with Machi in the most normal way possible. He just doesn't understand why he is so interested in someone who he knows can't beat him in a fight. So he doesn't know how to express or even accept it
It's kinda weird seeing Hisoka having this twisted fighting romance with everyone but then having this “normal” crush on Machi
Yup just like what the video said
True, the only hisoka can get kurapika serious and to fight him is he takes the scarlet eyes eyes from the 4th prince which I don't see happening
Kurapika despise fighting for no reason, Chrollo imagine fighting as business, and if it helps him, than he enjoys it
@@King_of_kings07 I think to hisoka fighting is a dance best done with a partner who can barely handle him even better if that's their peak.

Tbf that move did get him the fight in the end, since helping Chrollo get his nen back was the deal that ensured the fight would happen.

9:30 but togashi stated that Hisoka wanteted to kill machi on the spot after he resuscitated, then decided to keep her alive...

@@nicholasaugello2534 Bro... suddenly this 1 comment sounds terrifying,
It should be called "Elastic Love"
Gross.
Well , if you are interested in a gay clown who grooms minor 🥴
W
bro wrote like a hxh manga panel
Just before Kurapika was taught what nen was, he was able to sense an attack from it and dodge accordingly. Though that was more likely just being able to sense general danger since he couldn't see nen or even feel the aura of the guy who attacked him after the fact. So yeah I agree that at least where it comes to nen he likely an average talent level.
Hisoka doesn't see those qualities in kurapika, that is really different from Gon, but Kurapika also does have great potential
I laughed through the whole video. Your way to describe all of this is so funny. I love it.
Love the new channel icon with the Whale ship, and Hisoka doesn't want to fight Kurapika cause he's not into chains xD
Although they have different nen affinities, Kurapika is very specific with his nen use, and Hisoka has a more well-rounded use of Bungee Gum, which has the properties of both rubber and gum.
7:28 I don’t know why but that vintage camera pooping off flashes just got me
Some people says that Kurapika was uninteresting because his nen is only tailored against the Spiders, but Emperor Time alone is such an insane cheat code that maxed out all his nen types to 100% to the point that his Kyokakei (Enhancement) alone is on par with Uvogin, who to this day is still probably the strongest Kyokakei user in the series. With the other Nen just advanced as that, he’d be a massive fun to play with for Hisoka I’d bet.
Hisoka's msg to Kurapika: "I'm just not that into you."
I think that Hisoka has three general criteria for the people he wants to fight:
1) The person would like to fight him without too much trouble.

If you consider Hisoka, he's someone who would probably continue in one direction and without notice, do a 180 and go for something that we should've seen coming but we were too distracted with other choices.
I love how you stuck with the same dating metaphor theme through the whole video. Made it interesting to watch 🤝🏾
You have to remember that Kurapika can't use his full potential against those who are not currently members of the Spiders, meaning since Hisoka is no longer affiliated, they can't have a satisfactory battle, so no matter what Hisoka doesn't get what he wants from him.
"consensual combat" is not a phrase I ever expected to hear. lol
i have the theory that Kurapika and Hisoka knew each other before the Hunter exam
well its week its mostly supported by the fact that Hisoka knew about that Kurapika is after the Spiders but its never clearly stated how he knew only asumptions
Consentual Combat 😂
Ima use that when I head to the club next time
i think kurapika is too self destructive and caught up in revenge to even be close to pursuing himself like gon and hisoka pre greed island. but when push comes to shove, kurapika can beat chrollo when third parties arent involved, the only reason he couldnt kill chrollo was his love for gon and killua. and if kurapika can beat chrollo, but hisoka cant, doesnt that inadvertently mean kurapika can beat hisoka?
You read it like typical shonen power level
Kurapika only “beat” Chrollo by catching him off guard in a unique and specific scenario
He didn’t fight Chrollo head on
That doesn’t meant Kurapika is stronger than Hisoka
Also unlike Hisoka, Kurapika has a literal “one hit KO” move on the troupe
Whoever edits your videos needs a raise, this was fun to watch

That was an amazing video, this kind of interactions go often unnoticed !
And it was so fun too ahahahah
The dating metaphor with chrollo is so accurate😂😂
Love how you described their relationship

I'm pretty sure that Hisoka already had an intense obsession with Chrollo prior to meeting Kurapika. Now that obsession has grown significantly more intense. But I would still like to see a genuine fight between them. Absolutely.
Just because he doesn't want to fight Kurapika NOW, doesn't mean he doesn't wanna fight him ever.

Bungee gum... has both properties of rubber and gum
No way!
No way!
Okay
I can't wait for the two of them to bump into each other on tier 1 and do the spiderman meme thing
0:20 What do you mean he had phallus interest....what are you implying!!!! Oh you said far less...my bad.
schwing!!😂😂😂
The editing in this is a masterpiece
Unrelated to the video but I like the new logo
I recommend you to take a look at the new banner too :)
Machi: "Did you bring protection?"
Hisoka: "yeah I got it. Bungee gum"
That simple
@@TheBomberman122 hisoka is sick and and that’s all he’s saying. Don’t know what he said wrong
Man I love your wording.
"Generating a schwing."
10/10
Hisoka is a weird guy, but he likes-likes Maki. He's literally sweet for her any chance he gets. He's trying to lay game down. I havent read the Manga but I know him and Maki are gonna have their time. At least a moment where he proves something to her, and she falls for him a little.
Well, *in a way* you're right... Let's just say that they're uh... "destined" for each other.
Machi wants to kill Hisoka, she said so herself.
LOL the delivery...Excellent!
So basically the only way to avoid getting killed by hisoka is to be a weaker opponent than whoever he's trying to fight the most. That and basically running away and keeping distance from him at all times.
I think the very simple answer to that is:
Hisoka knows that Kurapika's objectives are to avenge his clan and to retrieve all the kurta eyes.
Definitely my fave manga / anime review / analysis channel. You have the nicest voice to listen to 🤍
Something I've wondered is what would happen if kurapika used chain jail on someone like hisoka.
How exactly does the ability determine if someone is part of the phantom troupe or not? Is it based on what kurapika thinks? Or the target? Would it work in a former member like hisoka or not
That’s one of the inconsistencies of nen as a whole lol
I think if he truly believes the person is part of spider it would work but say if he does it on someone that he later finds out there not a part of spider his chain will kill him
nice new avatar. the Black Whale always puts a smile on my face :D
Bro I don’t know why but I laughed out loud at “consensual combat” 😂
I both want them to leave each other alone and fight against each other in equal measure😩 either way just more screentime / panels w them together pls lol
I've always wondered if Kurapika could use chain jail on Hisoka. I wonder how his nen contract interprets "member of the troupe".
Damn the gag editing here is simple but hilarous. First tier
Oh btw. Your newest character images are unhinged af. I like it.
I'm digging the new logo for new world review. It feels more HxH
I recommend you to take a look at the new banner too :)
I was literally wondering this question earlier today, this video couldn't have come at a better time lol
Babe wake up, new world review uploaded
