The reasons why Europe doesn't produce muscle cars are simple: our roads are generally too narrow and not straight enough, we usually don't have enough room to park a big V8 car and fuel is very expensive compared to the USA. All of this means that any big, powerful car we produce is likely going to cost a lot more than a muscle car and will be aimed at a wealthier market segment than a comparable American vehicle. That's why even the Capri, which was pretty cheap, doesn't really qualify as a muscle car - it looks like one and is at a similar price point, but it lacks the muscle. The only true muscle car currently sold in Europe is the Mustang, but for comparison, in the UK a Mustang will set you back £38,000 - £45,000 - that's $48-$56k - whereas in the US, you're looking closer to the $30,000 - $35,000 (or £24-£28,000) point. For the V8 version in the UK, you also have to pay over £400 a year in tax to keep it on the road, then the fuel costs at around £1.10 - £1.20 per litre (at least outside of London where I live) (about $1.40 - $1.50 per litre, or $5.20 per gallon). Last time I was in the States, it was about $3 per gallon (and that was in California) or 50p per litre. Those same reasons why we don't really do muscle cars are the same reasons why we love hot hatches: they're cheap to buy, small enough to fit on the road and the driveway, easily capable of going round our tight, twisty roads and inexpensive to run.
add in that also some countries have taxes on emissions, cubic and\or weight... The term muscle car is inherently an American term. Take a grocery getter, ad a V8, 4 barrel and a 4 speed then you have a muscle car. I love every car on this list but i would not call them muscle cars.
I also thinks it is a spiritual successor to both the V600 and AMV8 in two ways as it looks unrefined and impolite like the AMV8 and it has more power than a 720S like how the V600 has more power than the EB110 GT.
If definition of muscle car is cheap car with too much power to handle, than only real muscle car is Renault Clio V6. Also there are fast Astra and Alfa Romeo.
Shout out to a US designed collaboration between Chrysler & Daimler Benz: the Crossfire SRT6. Okay, it was basically a modified SLK but had the same AMG supercharged engine as the SLK320 at a cheaper cost. In fact, Daimler Benz insisted the Crossfire hp be quoted at 320 when in fact it had the same 354 horses as the SLK. The styling holds its own against many of its incredibly more expensive peers as well. It’s components were overwhelmingly German as was its construction by Karman. It’s a rare sight & I consider it a very underrated vehicle that arose from a crazy corporate collaboration which makes it an interesting historical vehicle. Maybe not on the level of an Aston Vantage V12 but it’s a well-balanced muscle car perfectly suited to its V6 supercharged German engine & stylistically, very engaging. A fraction of the price of an Aston or an SLS, the SRT6 in my mind is just as, if not more of a looker than many of its wealthier vehicle peers.

I thought there might have been a space for a TVR in there. They were mechanically simple and not tricked out with electronics, traction control and the like. Some models, like the Cerbera, could beat 4 seconds to sixty.
Good to See Aston Martin features 3 times on this list. I am glad the 1990s Virage Aston got top spot and the power was pointed out. To put the power they produced back then into context you need to jump forward by around 25 years before other manufacturers were putting engines with that sort of power into a front engined car. Aston were literary a whole generation ahead of the other car makers in this respect.
It's pretty easy to define a muscle car and a sports car but so many like this guy get it wrong. 2 doors 4 seats = muscle car. 2 doors 2 seats = sports car.

Focus RS was designed and developed by Ford Team RS, a European motorsport division of Ford.
The car was later built in Germany.
Ford had many Euro only models, like the first Focus RS. It is only recently that Ford decided to globalize their models and offer Focus RS in USA and Mustang in Europe.
@@TopCarsTV ok thanks I didnt know that
You mean the Opel Manta?
@@Elmom_ yeah
@@TopCarsTV The RS is a hot hatch not a muscle car
The SLS AMG is naturally aspirated
The SLS AMG is like an old school hot rod more like which makes it a gorgeous car. I’d so buy one if I had the money. And the other AMG you mentioned, for some reason, I’d would much rather the Mercedes-AMG 300E Evolution as I like that kit and spoiler.
You mean 190E 2.5 Evo II?
@@TopCarsTV yeah
How can you even make a list like this without mentioning TVR?!
Brain fart. I completely forgot about them.
They'll be featured properly in the Part 2
Besides the focus rs, I 100% agree with this list, bold rugged beasts that sound like they want to rip you in half
You sound like a person who squats there trucks
Perhapse controversial, but the jaguar XJS. 5.3 litre V12. 300 up and 318 ft-lbs of torque.
I'd say the XJS is more properly left in the touring category when in factory trim. But if we sub in the TWR tuned machines or parade out the Lister 6.0l and 7.0l cars... now we're cooking with gas!
This definitely deserves a redo. The video is good, but it can be better.
Agreed
Other than the Interceptor none of these are muscle cars
EJ XOF66 and it had a chrysler power plant
Just some ideas, now only Ford and Aston Martin exist.
1. 2011 Mercedes C63 amg
2. Mercedes AMG GT
3. BMW M5 F10
4. BMW M5 F90
5. BMW M3 E92 etc...
Like seriously, how the Ford focus RS is a muscle car? If that is a muscle car, then a Honda Civic Type R is a muscle car... It's a fucked up list about old shitty "muscle" cars, with some Aston Martin, and a Focus RS.
UGLY FROM EVERY ANGLE
this is the worst think you could ever do to this car. Its the most beautifull Mercedes ever made with its gullwing doors, with black series even better.
The Mercedes SLS AMG ist the most beautifull and best Mercedes ever made, maybe only beaten by the SL65 AMG Balck Series
Nah, its ugly.
@@keegang_55 nah it's not
@@johnnyboy1586 Compared to other, really nice cars, its kinda on the lower side of the good lookin scale. It may have looked nice when it came out, but new cars are setting higher standards which leave these cars behind.
@@keegang_55 personal taste but I think it's one of the better looking cars mercedes made.harkens back to the original gullwing of the 50s .they are in demand it seems as they have shot up in value
@@johnnyboy1586 Yeah, but it just feels bare, and the gullwing doors don't really add to it because they feel like the only thing that is cool on the outside of the car, its just not different and doesn't look like the people behind the car really tried to make something incredible.
the SLS AMG ugly????? are you mad??????????
The SLS V8 wasn't supercharged
The term muscle car is inherently an American term. Take a grocery getter, ad a V8, 4 barrel and a 4 speed then you have a muscle car. I love every car on this list but i would not call them muscle cars.
Two words: Iso Grifo.
*Exactly* ‼️‼️
Is everyone gonna ignore the badass metal cover of the the skyrim theme?
I think the DBS Superleggera could be nominated for this list. 715 horsepower transferred to the rear wheels and looks more brutish than elegant.
I also thinks it is a spiritual successor to both the V600 and AMV8 in two ways as it looks unrefined and impolite like the AMV8 and it has more power than a 720S like how the V600 has more power than the EB110 GT.
Have you gone mad ford is an American company
But the cars shown are designed by Ford UK.
Not everything is American 😂 ford UK has designed and produced many ford vehicle's decades before the USA 😅
Ford focus rs is not a muscle car its more of a tuner hot hatch especially since the whole 4 banger under the hood and 4wheel drive
The sls is not UGLY
Fun fact: The De Tomaso Pantera was the original prototype for the Dodge Viper and was developed by Carroll Shelby
Then, the TVR Grifith, Jaguar XKR or XKRS, Also despite been a super GT, the Mercedes Benz SLR Mclaren will be another good example
A TVR would've been the best fit for this list 😂
Yeah, that's true. There will be a Part2 of the video :)
@@TopCarsTV OH WOW HELLO! I DIDN'T EXPECT A REPLY😂, let alone that quick! But yeah I'd LOVE to hear your take on any of their cars from the 90s onwards! Love your videos by the way!!
I've featured the Speed 12 twice in my videos. The others may be milder, but they too have the thirst for blood. Basically, cars for the most skilled drivers only.
@@TopCarsTV yep!! I watched those earlier because of that car😂
What i should've said was the actual production cars (that are actually attainable by us mere mortals)
@@TopCarsTV me personally, I've researched these cars like mad, a MK2 Tuscan S is my dream car
The only difference is that European cars can go to the track
And where the hell was the Lotus Carlton??
Europe dosent really have muscle cars hot hatches are hot hatches not muscle cars and vantage is a supercar not a muscle car v8 vantage is a GT not a muscle car Ftype is a sports coupe not a muscle car Pantera IS a super car not a muscle car SLS is a supercar not a muscle car content in this video is so far from correct and so many european cars that could have been in the video
The Mercedes SLS ugly? Really? For muscle how about Mercedes AMG C63s? E63. SL63. SLK55. Audi RS4 v8? Or Audi RS3 instead of the Ford Focus? The Ford Capri never had any muscle... How about the BMW M3 v8? Or the M5 v8? Or the M5. M6. 1M. M2/M2Comp. Porsche 928s/s4/GT/GTS.
Yep. Adam Ferrara also called it ugly in Top Gear USA S01E04
Edit: it's a bad video. Because there are no real Euro muscle cars I though it would be interesting to mention all kinds of euro cars with lots of power but not made for lap times.
I'll make the Part2 with better picks.
Make it please we are still waiting
Ford Focus is "Muscle car" ? 🤣
I know the "muscle car" spirit isn't common in Europe but where are the Lotus Carlton, Mercedes Benz E500(w124), BMW F10 M5, De Tomaso Longchamp?
Nah bruh, the ford is very muscular AND european, just like the daewoo matiz.
Bruh, the SLS has naturally aspirated V8, not a supercharged V8
I think you don't understand what a muscle car actually is...
Honorable mention:
BMW M5 E39
e55 amg
*Twin Superchargers*
Now that's a thing I haven't seen even in American soil!
I thought there might have been a space for a TVR in there. They were mechanically simple and not tricked out with electronics, traction control and the like. Some models, like the Cerbera, could beat 4 seconds to sixty.
HOW IS A FOCUS A MUSCLE CAR OK i even think that some sedans are muscle cars BUT A HATCH dude
ok
@Sink's Memes ye i consider those muscle car's
Foxbody mustang?
E39 M5 belongs on this list. Manual V8 Super Sedan
Only European muscle car is AM v8 , ISO Rivolta, Jensen Intercepror , Tvr Griffin and Chinera and the beautifull Alfa Romeo Montreal.
Title 'Top 10 Best European Muscle Cars'
no. 10 - Ford
Top Muscle Cars: first of the list is a fkcn Focus RS
If I think of European muscle cars, the amg black series comes to mind, much of them are v8s, crazy, and in many ways have a character of a muscle car
It's pretty easy to define a muscle car and a sports car but so many like this guy get it wrong. 2 doors 4 seats = muscle car. 2 doors 2 seats = sports car.
So what's a sports coupé?
Audi TT would be a muscle car by that logic
Appreciate the rock Skyrim ost, also always watch your videos at work 😅
How can you call a SLS Amg ugly? lmao
The back is W I D E
I think the BMW E92 should have been on this list. More so than the Focus RS. It has 2 doors, V8 in front and rear wheel drive. Checks all the boxes.
That's all it takes to be a muscle car it just so happens it's mainly American brands that do it
Ford Focus is my dream car
In that bright blue 💙🔵💙 love it
Just make sure that head gasket recall has been fixed
That AM V8 from Living Daylights is something I’d love to drive
Aston Martin feels like a European Ford
They had Ford engines
Bruh SLS AMG looks good from back for sure.Reminds of the Gullwing too
"European muscle cars.....number 10 FORD FOCUS" disliked.
Tell me the difference between designed and manufactured. Dumbass
Mercedes SLS and UGLY???? WTF???? ARE YOU KIDDING???? This is the most beautiful Mercedes EVER! Even better than the SLR!
Agreed 1000%
Muscle car ? What is he smoking
