+Gumba Chris This is almost every of his "theories"... he starts talking and does not finish his argument, but just leaves the question open. just cash grabbing on the whole "theory" thing on youtube while it is just some discussion on the topic...
***** Thats just a good thing to do, is leave it open so that people can talk about it. Though i thought he was going to use an in game explanation. Just taking away from the whole "its a game and programmed as such" thing.
There's a guy on the St. Anne who claims to be an interpol officer. Looker is an interpol officer. In ORAS, which takes place at around the same time as Red and Blue and a few years before his next appearance in Platinum, Looker has just washed up on the Battle Resort with amnesia. It's possible that Looker was aboard the St. Anne, and the ship sank, but he survived. After being rescued by the player in ORAS, he eventually gets his memory back and returns to work as an interpol officer, starting in Platinum.
Ryan Cauffman actually he was sucked up by a ultra hole that why he’s in oras a world where there are mega stones instead of red and blue which don’t have mega stones
Well there is also a Theory about Looker that he is a passenger on the ship, the international detective. And even though it never states the ship sank, it technically never shows or states that it didn't either. We don't know, but with the events of Hoen and Kanto taking place at the same time, in the remakes you find Looker washed up on the beach with no memory, Indicating that he was out at sea, likely on a ship, possibly because it sank and the SS.Anne is known to have been sailing around the world at this time. Perhaps the game developers decided to reference and tie in the events that took place in the Anime.
+Jason Yanes (BluExorcist) I found this theory recently and fully support it. :) OR was my first game and I was so confused about the man with lost memory... I wondered why there was no other way for my character to help him. Only by playing a couple others games and coming across said theory did the pieces begin to fit!
Cale Cale Considering how different graphics and everything look across generations, I would call the different layout a goofup.... not convinced that it's not one story.
Gen 3 happens roughly around the same time as Gen 1. Gen 2 and 4 happen three years later. So if the St Anne is used in Gen 2 it can't be the same ship that sinks in Gen 3.
+Derek Dellinger That was the S.S. Aqua you nut. Also where you do learn of the name of the abandoned ship from? I've played Sapphire and Emerald extensively and I never learned of the name.
my theory on that is that the pokemon league has seasons. like football or whatever sport. the list of names is all the people who beat that gym this season.
The St. Anne most likely DID sink. There's a detective on the ship that everyone suspects is an early version of Looker. In ORAS, Looker winds up on the beach, confused with slight amnesia. This means means that the St. Anne might have sunk, and Looker luckily escaped from a watery grave. What supports this even more is the fact that ORAS and R/B take place at the same time.
But this, to some degree, could be debunked by the theory that ORAS is an Alternate Universe. I don't remember the exact details of the theory, but I still see where you're coming from.
Shadowzdestroyer X and Y/ORAS are both in an alternate universe, because they require Mega Evolution. The split depends on whether the Ultimate Weapon is built. FireRed/LeafGreen are still in the XY universe, and they happen at the same time as ORAS.
I remember when I first played the gen1 games for the first time (either R/B/Y) I was literally hurrying to get on the ship because I was worried it was timed and I'd miss boarding it. Funny times
(Takes this question a bit TOO seriously, but they speak from experience.) Why is the ship's captain seasick when the ship's not moving? It could be that the tides were incredibly choppy long before you arrived, so much so that the ship had to wait for the sea to calm down before the S.S. Anne could safely set sail. I've been on a casino boat during a rather rough tide, and those ships rarely leave dock, and the boat was rocking just hard enough that I almost got seasick. (not enough to lose my lunch, but I at least needed to sit down; and even though it wasn't during their busy season, it was almost like a game of musical chairs trying to find an empty seat, whether it was near a slot machine or not.)
well tbh if the boat sank and there were no survivors it would not really go on record as sinking. until it's exact location was found, it would technically just be missing.
The catain is sea-sick, because the ship in port moves along with the coming waves, it bounces slightly over each direction, thus making people sick...
ProtoMario I remember finding your channel in the suggested box on a JWittz video. Now his channel is, well mostly trash. Glad I switched to you all that time ago.
sometimes this channel bothers me. I'm interested in video A, then right after clicking it, video B by you pops up in the video a that are related or that I might be interested in or whatever, and then I go through clicking video after video and have to go back to watch the others. too much entertaining content! Haha love the channel
Well, it could just be programmed that way or two, maybe regardless of hours played even if adds up to a years time, the in game time is frozen seeing that nothing happens after battling trainers and such. No matter how much we play, the time won't advance.
It's possible that the switch doesn't make it go away at all. It may just be easier to have the event that's the boat to just "exit" the game, but sometimes it will appear again for no reason if you go back, which could be a reason to why you never get to see it again unless you hit that switch. I'm guessing that the door out has two events. One to just leave, and then one that activates after talking to the captain, and they never bothered fixing it. So it's like, Talking to the captain turns on a switch that changes the front door. The front door changes so when you touch it, a switch turns on that makes the boat automatically leave once you're in that map. (It has to be automatic. For some reason if you're put on top of that tile by the game, it won't work unless you step off and step on again.) And that's why the boat just doesn't leave when you return. They could've easily have given the captain the event that makes the boat leave instead of the door. I'm not sure why they didn't do that in the first place. I mean, obviously they meant to keep it in FRLG because you can get a Lava Cookie if you don't activate that switch.
If you remember, gen 2 was the first gen to use a clock to keep track of time. That's why you had to play on certain days to do the bug catching contest. And like the original r/b/y, fire red and leaf green also didn't have a clock so that's why you had to trade eevee over to ruby/sapphire/emerald to evolve it into umbreon and espeon since eevee evolved into one or the other based of the clock's time. Sure gen 1 kept track of how long you played, but so does every gen. So since there is no way for r/b/y and fr/lg to know what time it is there would be no way for it to know a year went by.
What if the trainers in new games change throughout the day, like one trainer set in morning, one set in noon, and another set of trainers in the evening per route.
I remember the first time I played the game I unintentionally lost on the St. Anna, which activated the glitch. When I played again (and didnt lose) I was surprised to find out I couldnt re-enter the St. Anna. Probably a few years later I found out it was a glitch.
I still remember a slight reference in the original sapphire I believe hinting at something rather dark. Sapphire according to the pokemon timeline happens around the same time as red and blue. This being said, there is a sunken abandoned ship in the game that no one seems to know how it got there, however in Slateport City, there is an npc in front of a model of a ship and when spoken to he says that the model closely resembles what is seen from the sunken ship. Then investigating the model it is a model of the St. Anne. However in OR and AS this is not the case. Is it possible if Red didn't get off the St. Anne right then he could have died?
what about the wrecked ship you explore in ruby/sapphire in the water between the second gym and town with the beach area. could the st anne have travelled to kanto and sunk there?
When I was a kid and didn't know how to read english my brother tricked me and said that I was supposed to go with the boat and that I had lost the game, so I had to restart it.
I got left behind. I always thought as a kid the st. Ann later turned out to be the abandoned ship in 3rd gen but there's no evidence to prove that I don't think.
Well, In the Hoenn Region it is actually the Abandoned ship is it not? The museum in Slateport also references this ship. So wouldn't it just be that the ship left and passed through the Hoenn region at which it wrecked?
I think it's likely that the ships sank, that'd explain why the Seagallop Ferries seem to replace it after you get the Volcano badge in FRLG. St. Anne was probably a ship to the Sevii Islands and sank, requiring a replacement in the form of the Seagallop Ferries.
Looker was on the St. Anne. Looker washed up on shore in oras. The following can then be deduced: the St. Anne DID in fact sink leaving Looker as the only known survivor.
I think the original idea in the games for the Pokedex is that *you* the player are manually filling in the Pokedex entries as you catch and observe new Pokemon. That's why the entries don't appear until you catch them. *You're* the one filling them in, not Oak. The changes made in the anime are what led us to believe these entries are already pre-programmed into the Pokedex.
There aren't any "pre-entered" dex entries (in the game world). When you see a Pokemon, it automatically records an entry. That's why oak sent you out in the first place
I know that the anime says it sank, but what if, now hear me out here, what if the ship sank near a future region (sun/moon?) but a "legendary" pokemon rescued them? Now the scientists have been able to use it as an underwater lab that trainers reside in (or a secret base for team whatever). OR maybe its where the legendary pokemon that rescued the people now uses as its' home?
I always thought the SS. Anne went to Olivine City. Even though Johto didnt exist at the time. I guess taking the SS. Aqua to Vermillion from Olivine created this head canon.
Perhaps Team Rocket took over the ship. There were plenty of wealthy people with Pokémon on the ship. After the looting and booting out the crew and passengers, Team Rocket sailed the St.Anne back to their secret hideout. Giovanni later on used the ship to travel to different regions. Thus, the St.Anne was used to help create Team Rainbow Rocket.
better question: how does the ss anne came to vermillion in first place? north, south and east is land. which means ships can only arrive from the west BUT route 17 has nothing (at least in the games) where a ship can pass through it
So the SS.Anne left for a year round trip. Docked in Johto, Returned to Kanto 3 years later. since GSC takes place 3 years after Pokemon RBYG. Makes sense. Good thing they had enough time to build that railway!
What I think: it isn't a lie, you never see it return because Nintendo didn't think that you would actually take the time to bother spending that much time into the game and couldn't be bothered to program the SS Anne to return, which is completely understandable. :3
I read a theory somewhere that the person on the S.S.Anne that tells you 'I'm an international police officer' is Looker. The ship sunk and Looker washed up in the Battle Resort in ORAS with amnesia.
Well i know that the Saint Anne section can be skipped completely if you receive a traded Pokemon that knows the Move Cut, would the simpliest explanation for this Theory be that the SS Anne was decommissioned After it Left Vermiliion City and was simply replaced with the SS Aqua
well thats just it in pokemon red and blue and yellow because of the ingame logic ingame time stops while playing the game because there are no more events to happen/no way to tell time.
My friend had a different problem altogether. He couldn't get off it! It's been 2 years now (not in the game) and he's still stuck on it! Maybe he somehow got on the ship before it left forever, sooooooo lucky☺
something funny: They made very few changes to pokemon red and blue when the games were released on the 3DS. Even Missingno is still there! but the one change they did make? Removed the truck.
ther is a glitch were you can get past the guy who is stopping you from getting back to the ss anne and it is there wen you get past him. but you can use surf and find a truck on the right side of the ss anne.
there is a theory that looker was in the ship and then after it leaves vermilion city it is sinking, looker looses his memory and is being found in the battle resort in oras. that could explain why the ship never returned to vermilion city
It's not that trainers don't move, it's that they can't move. You killed their pokemon and so if they were to move wild pokemon could attack or kill said trainer. Also fun fact is that Looker is on The Saint Anne in red, blue and yellow.
I have a theory that I'm not sure if you've done yet. It's seen if you hack a GBA game that there are free spaces in which pokemon could be added. Why were they cut? Could there had been more than the 721 we have now? Could you do a video theorizing this.
There is only one speculation to what happened to S.S. Anne. P.S., this is just a theory based on my educated guess. Remember Abandoned Ship on Route 108? During the events of Pokémon R/S/E, somewhere between 1.35 - 2.3 years ago, a heavy rainfall with thunderstorms battered the ship whilst crossing Route 108, en route to Slateport City. All souls inside the ill-fated ship were killed. After the disaster, the ship docked right onto the sand. Still today, it is contained by trainers.
I have a theory, the girl from hoen, was actually from johto and maybe could be Lyra after a few years? We know that Norman was from johto, and after ORAS you get a johto starter, and that head band thing is similar to the bow on lyras hat
In the older games, we have never seen any land vehicles (excluding the truck by the SS Anne). When you "move" to hoenn, there is a delivery truck but I don't think there is any other kind vehicles. In the newer games, I believe you pass under a bridge where cars travel. In the new game trailer for sun and moon, they show a couple vehicles. Was wondering if there's a reason why they didn't really show land vehicles excluding certain vehicles mag train in silver/gold and the truck in red/blue. Is it just because the emphasis is on the Pokemon to help you travel? Does everyone walk or want to walk between towns? Are vehicles a rarity because of the famed Pokemon war? Maybe they used a lot of their resources for the war? Plus it seems that a huge part of the population are kids and grandparents. The kids are too young to drive and the grandparents are too old. On a side note too, is that why your first bike is 1,000,000? (Due to a lack of resources?)
i have something else to support this theory, you know how gary is on the st Anne, and he is still on it when it leaves, but then, shortly after you will go to lavender town, and gary will be there. that proves that the st anne never left cause there is no way a year went that fast
protomario i downloaded pokemon blue on my tablet and downloaded this app which gives u cheats 4 the games. basically i used too many cheats and the game glitched thought i left the boat and when i did exit the boat i was in a place called pokemon deathmatch 'make your dreams come alive' then there was a building, i entered it saw all of the ledgendaries, even tho i caught most ov em, and when i activated zapdos the game glitched froze then wiped its whole memroy away so i had to replay it from the start. Plz dont try this cause i couldnt catch the ledgendaries any more.... (the refresh clears all ledgendaries from the game) so yeah dont try it...
It's a game, they didn't program it to come back, nor did they program year cycles, otherwise, why doesn't your character ever age? It's out at sea. A year will never pass in game. A glitch does not qualify it not leaving.
In the Pokedex there's a tiny camera that scans your caught pokemon's pokeball and from there it gets the measurements, the data however is somewhat built-in or downloaded from main database (notice that in different versions of games you get different data). as you know, your 7th pokemon is automatically transported via pokedex so it can be said that its always connected with professors lab. [May be I should start my own theory channel :v ]
The GB cart that houses Gen 1 can't count high enough for when an in-game year would have passed. It's just not do-able with the software used to make RGBY. Less of "that's just how it is" or "the lied". It just wasn't possible.
Plot twist: the St.Anne never left, because the S.S Anne did
+azizur hashim Yeah, ship's name was SS Anne in my game too
There was no st anne
St. Anne is in the anime not in game
Aryan 10 but he is talking about the game soooooooooo
Ultimate Gohan o
it probably sailed to the Hoenn region and it wrecked it is now called the abandoned ship
:)
nice one 😄
+fidel garcia true i guess..... that'll be another theory

i dont have ORAS but looker is still in it
so looker goes to kalos(xy) and after those quests returns to ORAS
Time paradox
ORAS take place after X&Y.
To the guy above me, I think it's the other way around.
Ryan Cauffman actually he was sucked up by a ultra hole that why he’s in oras a world where there are mega stones instead of red and blue which don’t have mega stones
I'm pointing out the obvious but.. it's not St. Anne its S.S. Anne.
Exactly! Come on, peoples!

It's the St. Anne in some versions? Name one.

MoonSpider14 So since the SS Anne went into the next generation it got a makeover and was changed to SS Cactus?
looker went to kalos first
so must have been on different ship kalos is xy so ye it could not be ss anne because it wouldnt be there
anymore would it?
the ship sunk in gen 3
That's the S.S Cactus
That's what I thought, too.

Gen 3 happens roughly around the same time as Gen 1. Gen 2 and 4 happen three years later. So if the St Anne is used in Gen 2 it can't be the same ship that sinks in Gen 3.

Hey proto, you do know you can get sea sick just from the ship rocking back in forth, and the ship is in rocking water.

After the looting and booting out the crew and passengers, Team Rocket sailed the St.Anne back to their secret hideout. Giovanni later on used the ship to travel to different regions. Thus, the St.Anne was used to help create Team Rainbow Rocket.
better question: how does the ss anne came to vermillion in first place?
north, south and east is land. which means ships can only arrive from the west
BUT route 17 has nothing (at least in the games) where a ship can pass through it
I don't know if you've never been on water, but it's extremely possible to be sea sick without the boat moving.
So the SS.Anne left for a year round trip. Docked in Johto, Returned to Kanto 3 years later. since GSC takes place 3 years after Pokemon RBYG. Makes sense. Good thing they had enough time to build that railway!
His intro screen is like u have all ur pokemon in one ball and ur like NOOOOOO ALL MY POKEMON
*cough cough* "it doesnt return because it the abandoned ship in the third gen *cough coguh*
+Rob Marcy you mean SS Cactus?
...except that wasn't a shipwreck, it was an old research facility that was abandoned for various reasons.
NO! That ship is the S.S. Cactus!
I agree with you
Thomas Jones
I found a glitch to stay on the boat but when it moves my character stays in the same place and then I get stuck and after a while the game crashed
I thought it was common knowledge the the captain was hung over af and didnt want to explain to a 10 year old that hed been out drinking
I love how limited/lazy programming can become conspiracy theories decades after...
well thats just it in pokemon red and blue and yellow because of the ingame logic ingame time stops while playing the game because there are no more events to happen/no way to tell time.
In Ruby and Sapphire, there is a crashed ship. Since it is part of the world, it is the Saint Anne and has many references to it being that
My friend had a different problem altogether.
Removed the truck.
ther is a glitch were you can get past the guy who is stopping you from getting back to the ss anne and it is there wen you get past him. but you can use surf and find a truck on the right side of the ss anne.
isn't it SS Anne
That's for america
im almost certain it is Red filling out the pokedex entries as he catches them.
Yea it is its his own entries. this guy's a joke
isn't that the same boat that sinks in pokemon ruby
No, the abandoned ship in R/S/E is called the S.S Cactus
Completely different ship
there is a theory that looker was in the ship and then after it leaves vermilion city it is sinking, looker looses his memory and is being found in the battle resort in oras.
that could explain why the ship never returned to vermilion city
It's impossible to have time in games because there is a timeline, so if you play for two years then it's Jhoto time
It's not that trainers don't move, it's that they can't move. You killed their pokemon and so if they were to move wild pokemon could attack or kill said trainer. Also fun fact is that Looker is on The Saint Anne in red, blue and yellow.
I remember finding Looker in Yellow, good times :)
or the St Anne was going to hoenn, looker from gen 4 was on it, and it crashed, which explains why looker is in hoenn with amnesia in ORAS
new sun moon info do a review on it plz
what if the st.anne was the sunken ship near Brawley's gym in gen hoen region
Not sure if I missed it but if I didn't, I'm glad for once you didn't do that "But Proto" shtick. It was getting annoying.
It hit an iceberg and it sank on its maiden voyage
I have a theory that I'm not sure if you've done yet. It's seen if you hack a GBA game that there are free spaces in which pokemon could be added. Why were they cut? Could there had been more than the 721 we have now? Could you do a video theorizing this.
remember the ship from ruby and sapphire? the partially sunken one? that could be it. sort of has the same lay-out.
Anyone else seen the new sun and moon starters
yeah they look horrible . . .
+LinktheMonsterHunter ditto
+LinktheMonsterHunter Only the Fire one looks interesting.
+Redblue01 They looks gross AF, personally I feel like some of the FAKE LEAKS were better lokking >_>. The Moon legend however looks majestic
True
There is only one speculation to what happened to S.S. Anne. P.S., this is just a theory based on my educated guess. Remember Abandoned Ship on Route 108? During the events of Pokémon R/S/E, somewhere between 1.35 - 2.3 years ago, a heavy rainfall with thunderstorms battered the ship whilst crossing Route 108, en route to Slateport City. All souls inside the ill-fated ship were killed. After the disaster, the ship docked right onto the sand. Still today, it is contained by trainers.
wait wasn't ruby sapphire emerald on the same timeline? what if when kyogre and groundon were the weather effects affected the ship? and it sunk? >.
I have a theory, the girl from hoen, was actually from johto and maybe could be Lyra after a few years? We know that Norman was from johto, and after ORAS you get a johto starter, and that head band thing is similar to the bow on lyras hat
S.S Anne sank in Hoenn, it was later named "Abandoned Ship", to me, that's why it never returned.
(Due to a lack of resources?)
lumi taxi?
+Tj Hawkins that's another one I missed from a newer generation though. Older generations still skip it though
i have something else to support this theory, you know how gary is on the st Anne, and he is still on it when it leaves, but then, shortly after you will go to lavender town, and gary will be there. that proves that the st anne never left cause there is no way a year went that fast
wooooooooooow your channel has grown so much. I've watch a lot of your videos, like a year ago and you didnt have so much people. GJ Proto :V.
This migh dumb but do you think in emerald that e sunken ship was tat but when it crashed the name scratched into different letters?
protomario i downloaded pokemon blue on my tablet and downloaded this app which gives u cheats 4 the games. basically i used too many cheats and the game glitched thought i left the boat and when i did exit the boat i was in a place called pokemon deathmatch 'make your dreams come alive' then there was a building, i entered it saw all of the ledgendaries, even tho i caught most ov em, and when i activated zapdos the game glitched froze then wiped its whole memroy away so i had to replay it from the start.
Plz dont try this cause i couldnt catch the ledgendaries any more....
(the refresh clears all ledgendaries from the game) so yeah dont try it...
proto not gonna complain but I found the SS. Anne near cinnabar island while I was wall glitching
Great theory Proto!
It's a game, they didn't program it to come back, nor did they program year cycles, otherwise, why doesn't your character ever age? It's out at sea. A year will never pass in game. A glitch does not qualify it not leaving.
maybe it's the abandoned ship in hoenn or it was a 366 and lastly only travels to specific locations
In pokemon red, there is a sailor on the front of the ship that tells you the S.S. ANNE will be leaving soon
@3:00
but proto, prof. oak always says that "It automatically COLLECTS data on pokemon you've caught"
:3
So. How does it know things about pokemon that a Pokedex could not know?
In the Pokedex there's a tiny camera that scans your caught pokemon's pokeball and from there it gets the measurements, the data however is somewhat built-in or downloaded from main database (notice that in different versions of games you get different data). as you know, your 7th pokemon is automatically transported via pokedex so it can be said that its always connected with professors lab. [May be I should start my own theory channel :v ]
Tanjil Rahman Not all pokedexes have the camera.
Gen1=yes
Gen2=?
Gen3=No
Gen4=Yes
Gen5=Yes
Gen6=No
Remade pokedexes
Gen1R=No
Gen2R=No
Gen3R=No
you're awesome
I don't understand why we need to fill the pokedex if it already has info
You also failed to mention that the Vermilion City port doesn't actually lead anywhere. It's an enclosed space.
actually you can find the st. anne in saphire ruby and emarld it didn't sink technically it just was wrecked at hoenn
They didn't program a clock to keep track 24/7
The first time I reached the ship I walked out and never got the HM Cut
The GB cart that houses Gen 1 can't count high enough for when an in-game year would have passed. It's just not do-able with the software used to make RGBY. Less of "that's just how it is" or "the lied". It just wasn't possible.
It's not called the St. Anne. Only the anime calls it that. In the game it's the SS Anne. SS stands for Sailing Ship.
+digifreak10101 it stands for Steam Ship.
No it stand for snake supper.
