That little pocket knife is amazing for what it is. I was gifted one of those survival kits and I've been carrying that knife ever since (about two years). It has replaced my Paraframe, and I rarely take my Civivi or QSP out of the drawer any more. When I thought I lost it recently, I even ordered another one from Amazon for 8 bucks.

For a $25 by, that's a good buy. I'm shocked and surprised. I usually hate sporks, but the hidden knife in the handle is one I've never seen. Nice.

Ron Popeil would be proud of some of that gear: "It opens bottles! It whistles! It cuts and grates cheese! It cuts branches!"

Walmart sells one, called the Camping Survival Kit, has a lot of the same stuff, but comes in a zippered case with a small shovel, for the same price that this HF one currently is.

compasses are mostly irrelevant now that the magnetic poles are in a major excursion and are most likely relocating. Cardinal North may be easier to find by orienting yourself in the day time or by using a sextant at night (provided no heavy cloud cover). There is a formula for correcting to cardinal north however w the speed the N pole is moving it probably requires frequent updating.

Is it real paracord or just a solid nylon “paracord” style cord

I think it lacks of first aid kit 🙂

If you have to think of using this stuff without any training or practice, the first aid kit likely won't be helpful either. 😁

Is your life worth more than 25bucks? Very cheap stuff is used to make this kit.

If you are a die hard prepper, then yup, you are probably going to buy better or at least more expensive equipment. For the rest of us, you'd be surprised what we can do with a few trinkets of crap and some ingenuity. It's a decent starter kit to keep in your glove box, not much more. But I do love the sales person's question... "is your life worth more than $25 bucks?". That is awesome! Don't laugh, but there are people spending crazy amounts of money expecting their kits to keep them prepared! No matter how well prepared you are, you won't be. Survivor skills are way more important than your gear. ;)

@@1D10CRACY I agree.theres thousands of these so called kits for sale.i put several together myself because I fish remote areas and just try to have things that won't fail.but knowledge is the best tool.

Cool idea but I don’t think I would probably want to trust my life on that cheesy kit. 😂

If it's all you had, you'd use some of it. ;)
