Connections 599 - NYT Word Game - 30 January 2025

The New York Times is back with another new daily word game, Connections! This is heavily inspired by "The Wall" from the BBC quiz show Only Connect. You must sort the sixteen given words into thematically appropriate groups of four--and you only have a few opportunities for error! I don't know if I'll be solving this every day but I'm giving it a shot for now at least. We'll see how it goes. Let me know how you like it!

I always forget to comment and point out that on the screen that shows what people got first, you can click where it says "fitst" and it will show you second, third, fourth, and ever. You might find that interesting too!

I was trying for a Reverse 🌈, but I misjudged the blue. At first I thought we had an "Angel." Angels are often depicted with a light around them, which could be considered an "aura." I rejected that once I saw the "Party Food." You beat me on time by almost a minute. Natch. 😊

I did not think of Halo as a verb

Because it is not? Its category contained all nouns.

@@SkywayRobB My thought process was you give off a vibe or an aura. There is an air about you. I see Halo as a disk or circle of light. However, in this instance, as an intangible quality, I equated it to its verb tense of "surround with or as if with a halo."
