@@soundbelch1600 "Bond", is pushing it, subtle mutual understanding maybe. Would have been interesting to see more scenes of the two together in all fairness, esp as Adam and Fergus treat Glenn like shit and Fergus hates Mannion (and Peter loathes Fergus back).
The scene where he’s having another, quieter breakdown and someone important comes into the office and he says “Hello, no need for me to get up” I always found hilarious
Phil said “Whoa.” I’d like to think that, if my life was being threatened by a middle-aged man wielding scissors, someone would say “Whoa” to save me too.
"You, Fergus, when you asked me to join you, all you had was your principles. But over the last two years you've bent like a human fucking palm tree, swaying to the guff of these six toed, born-to-rule pony fuckers."
'Terri, I don't think i've ever met anyone quite so proud and yet quite so useless...' Most government departments are made of Terri Coverleys. Iannucci's observation is so on point it is frightening.
You know, despite all the incredible acting throughout this show, and Glenns beautiful swan song here; Peter just accepting that jab from Glenn says so much!
I like the Peter character....some subtleties like this one....he's one of the more (most) decent characters on the show. It's perhaps a shame Glenn wasn't able to skip Peter's insult completely....
I think Adam probably received the most scathing insult. ("The most loathsome human being I have ever met") That's quite a put down. When Adam came up with the "Glenntal" line. He simply proved Glenn's point about being more suited to his previous job at the Daily Mail.
Every time I view this I always think there could be a great reference at the end to Blackadder Goes Fourth by one of them saying "who would have noticed another mad man around here?"
Ah... I love Glenn, the only person I'd genuinely want to have a coffee with, nice, smart but with some fucking backbone. Terri and Nicola are both harmless, but also ineffective. Olie is a backstabbing, spineless fuck who'd sell his daughters kidney to please Tucker, and then Malcom himself is a scheming, untrustworthy psychopath (who did end up killing a poor man). Governing - who the hell would want do that?
True, it's the backbone he's got. Ollie has none of it. Though, Ollie hasn't actually killed anyone. Still, we see Tucker has some kindness, but only for Sam.
'You were so well suited at the Mail, it's a shame you had to come over here.' Love the tone of the room laughter, with Emma at the forefront dropping her veneer.
I don't think Jamie was loathsome at all. Adam, Ollie and Heaney were the worst for me (I realise Angela Heaney never actually does anything that bad, but she's a tabloid journalist which means she's already in the gutter and every time she was on screen she irritated the shit out of me haha)
Yes though I think Adam is indeed one of the most loathsome people in the show, I also hate Ollie as well. Completely smug. And would willingly betray anyone to advance his political career. Even though Ollie took over Malcolm's job in this episode, I highly doubt he will be successful at it.
He hates Mannion more. Back in serries one he worked for Labour then left to join the Lib Dems. He has constantly hated Mannion's party (the Conservatives).
'No, you closeted regency homosexual. That is not it.'
“An eight year old trapped in the body of a twelve year old” is my favourite insult in this entire show
They kind of recycled it on veep
“You were so well suited at the Mail it’s a shame you came over here” it one of the greatest put downs in the history of this show
‘He’s Gone Glenn-Tal’ also sounds so much like a Daily Mail headline.
Mannion looking slightly sad when Glenn addresses him solidifies Mannion as one of the more human characters in the show
Not surprising. He was the only one he could relate to.
That was a sarcastic expression. He didn't give a shit.
I feel bad for Peter because he's actually not a bad person, he's just incredibly incompetent.
He took it on the chin - "yeah, you've got a point there, mate"
@@soundbelch1600 "Bond", is pushing it, subtle mutual understanding maybe. Would have been interesting to see more scenes of the two together in all fairness, esp as Adam and Fergus treat Glenn like shit and Fergus hates Mannion (and Peter loathes Fergus back).

I almost forgot my hourly viewing of this...
Failure to view this video daily will result in a lamping. With a lamp.
Me too. I am a bit of a fucktool at times.
Fuck you all up the wrongun ta ta
Peter being sad because he’s watching someone actually follow through with his own exit plan is brilliant.
Malcolm would have been proud of him if he'd witnessed this
might have let glenn back in.
Glenn, over the years, has had some of the best lines of the show.
This and his meltdown are among my favourite moments in TV history
"born-to-rule ponyfuckers"

The scene where he’s having another, quieter breakdown and someone important comes into the office and he says “Hello, no need for me to get up” I always found hilarious

I love how they all thought he might try to kill Terri with those scissors
And yet no one made any effort to intervene. 😅

“Six toed born to rule pony fuckers” very understated line lol

The best exit for any character in TV, it was so satisfying to see Glenn just lose his shit at everyone around him.
This is quite possibly the most awesome scene in fictional history.
Oh shit, I've accidentally typed 'quite possibly'.
2:30 "Fuck you all up the wrongun! Ta ta, bye bye!!" 😂🤣🤣
Definitely such a epic thing to say when you're quitting your job.
When you pick up a "Malcolm Power-Up".

Tweedletwat and tweedleprick
“Fuck you all up the wrong ‘un”, Tah Ta, Bye Bye” is how I say farewell to friends now !!
I firmly believe this is where Jonathan Pie came from
Glenn Cullen is his uncle...?!
I was thinking that too, they even look alike
Peter’s reaction is excellent
He just looks so disappointed
The writing on this show is absolutely top notch.
He’s right. That WAS far better than IMAX Inception.
Glenn was remarkable and clearly as we now know - linguistically talented!
The look on Phil's face throughout this scene is hilarious.
"tweedle twat and tweedle prick"
This is what a man who has finally fallen off the edge looks like, after years and years of being slowly worn away.

Couldn't agree more!!!
I like how Mannion takes the whole thing the calmest of everyone. Even his own insult he shrugs off.
James Smith ( the actor in this clip ) has been acting since 1975.
And usually play serious versions of the characters portrayed in this show.
Sadly this never happens in the real life civil service, people just write insincere shit in a leaving card and eat cakes
I see we worked in different departments.

We need a spin-off where Glenn goes to prison, gets his abs, and slowly takes over the entire place.
So cool of them to have one character have the Alistair Darling look -in the background
