She's not "weird". She marches to a beat of different drum, that's all. People who do this are the most courageous people on earth because they don't care what others think about them. They are doing what makes THEM happy. To live like this is to live free. I have total respect for her mother, because she discovered the secret of life.
The stuff she does is normal in Asia. Esp in Japan, China, India and of course in Bepal and Tibet where people are a lot more spiritual than d rest of d world
I'm fascinated by the lyric on 'Ancestress' which goes, "Did you punish us for leaving? Are you sure we hurt you? Was it not just living?" I came here to try to understand this woman and her relationship with her daughter. I guess all relationships between a person and their mother is complex. I hope they were at peace with each other by the end.
This interview would have been better if the questions were just "normal" and not awkward and "weird." Such a shame because Bjork's mom seems like an interesting, gentle, kind, spiritual, and down to earth person. I see a lot of Bjork in her, and a lot of her in Bjork. But they're both individuals in their own right.
Vanessa Clark Not only that but the condescending way the interviewer spoke to her, like when Hildur said she was making a record, the way Patty replied was obnoxious, to say the least. Definitely an air of talking down to people she thinks are weird or inferior. I just hope that after it she realised that she was wrong about that. She wouldn't have been like that if Bjork had been there.

Very nice comment, I think the same way. People should seek internal strength instead of external strength(power over others, materialism, money) I hope in the future more people will think like us. Love and Light.
I don't like that they think she's weird, there's no such thing as "weird", it's fun and gratifying to call anything alittle different "weird". she should call the other ones weird, but ofcourse that wont do anything because theyre a majority, and a majority always wins. if a billion people say the sky is purple, that means, the sky is purple, no more debate.
You'd have to be Dutch to know the presenter, but You'd be hard-pressed to find a more unsuitable, more superficial media person from Holland to do this interview. Shame Bjork's mom wasn't warned. Disrespectful is the word.
I agree, i'am Dutch so i understand what she saying. What i don't understand is why they sent Patty Brard for a interview. The woman is a wased upp hasbyin with a drinking problem, and no media scills what so ever. But apart form all that, now we now where Björk gets here creativite from.
TheAz09aAz I don't know who the interviewer is but she definitely struck me as being rude. I imagine she'd be better suited interviewing people who really think simply banging pots and pans together is all it takes to make an album.
She is a beautiful woman with a beautiful unique mind as well. I found it really rude to ask whether people thought she was weird. You don't ask that that type of question to a person in her own house. Pretty disrespectful. I enjoyed knowing Björk's mom through this video, though.
The mother seems very down to earth and gentle. But one thing bothered me....it seems she had no desire to praise her daughter or have any pride in her talent and accomplishments. Maybe it was just the editing by this rude interviewer?
+Carla Withac +Eo Have to agree. If the woman wasn't unconditionally proud of her daughter, as all parents should be, I doubt Bjork would have the self confidence to be the astonishing artist she is.
+Carla Witha Can you imagine how many times she has been asked about Bjork. How many times no one has looked at her as a unique person, not just the mother of a famous artist? I can see in this woman a lot of what is in Bjork. I think she is proud of her daughter but also wants to express who she is. After all you can see in Bjork a lot of her mother.
+Carla Withac Her mother is very spiritual woman, an ex hippie and somewhat lives by that philosophy. An activist in her own right but Björk is loud and extroverted (even though she comes across as the exact opposite) She has said in an interview even though they are close they don't really have a typical mother daughter relationship and she somehow is saddened by that.
@frozenwarning it was bjorks home not Hildurs. And bjork complained in an interview to ID magazine in 1995 that she had been showing journalists around her flat in Iceland without telling her. That’s how I know.
It starts with the mother. I’m kidding, I love Björk and her mum seems cool. I can relate. My kids are weird because of me too lol! Some say weird, some say open.
they're extreme minimalist's, still living humbly, with money, appreciating what the world has to offer, not stuff, quite refreshing, makes me want to get rid of all my junk and go do some yoga

Patty Brard is Dutch and so am I (as in, I know how she is). Knowing how Patty can act these days, I could not think of a bigger misfit then Patty interviewing the mother of Björk.
It is not a perfect proof. We subtitle all our tv programs and hear all sorts of english. If I am talking to a person from britain I kind of change the accent to fit the person, happens aswell with african person. But still then I am forcing it. I dont feel like I am forcing an accent when i use the "icelandic" version, cause thats how the sounds coem natural to me. So there
Wasn't Bjork pissed off about this interview? For years in the early 2000s, when she talked about her 90s fame getting out-of-hand, she mentioned a female reporter who flew to Iceland and tracked down her mother, cornering her for an interview. This must be the interview she was referring to.
Woah now i understand why Bjork is so creative and spiritual. Her mom rocks.
Heck yeah!
Hildur, Thank you for giving birth to Bjork.

Isn't that what weird means? :)
AMEN to that. Love from Mexico
Depends..could also be because you have some neurodevelopmental or mental issues.
Weird (wyrd) originally meant to have supernatural control over one’s destiny. I see it as a compliment.
Yup she is definitely Björk's moms, makes me smile. I'm sure I don't notice it but I probably make the same gestures as my folks too.
Her smile after playing that sound is so captivating. As sweet as Björk herself. Thank U 4 sharing this video.

Thanks for this. Never seen Mama Bjork. I can hear Bjork's vocal tones in her mother's voice. Very cool!
Lovely woman. Can see Bjork's spiritual underpinnings.
I so love and respect how she said "She wouldn't want to be in her shoes"...
Her mother is and was a great influence on Bjork's interest in the abstract. Hands down.
bjorks mum is cool .. good family vibes

You can really see the inspiration Bjork got from her mother.
The apple definitely didn't fall far from the tree with Björk! Her mom is just as fascinating.
She looks like an older version of her daughter and she even has the same voice!
She is full of mystery also. Very attractive, intelligent and gentile lady.
omg bjork is a copy of her mother, they look alike and are both incredibly polite and awkward and quirky and artistic in their viewpoints.
Björk looks more like her father
THIS IS WHY BJORK IS INDIGOO
Hi! Do u think Madonna is indigo too?
Somebody You wanna know Madonna is a golden girl. Indigo soul
Her mom is so laid back and open. I bet she'd let baby Bjork fingerpaint an entire room in the house and not care.
