    I feel like Conan was being softer and sweeter because Bjork herself was being soft and sweet, and he didn’t want to make her feel alienated by being loud and sarcastic like he usually is.

      @@doma3554 yes. And it was known that Bjork was not a big fan of press tours. Luckily, his respect for her paid off because she revisited his show at least 3 more times over the years.

      Exactly! I've been binging the old Björk interviews and the interviewers were horrendous! Nice to see Conan be a bit more "normal" in that regard.

    I feel like Conan knew he was communicating with a real human being, in the artistic way, almost extremely human, and acknowledged that. He's not always as silly as one would assume. He had respect for her, in a deep way.

      I think he just realized how young she was back then and decided to take a dork pause. Nothing you'd notice with decent people, but bastards are enjoying the benefit that WHEN they take a brake, it's considered to be a miracle. Just observe manic bosses on the work floor: they get more appreciation for their 3 breaks in being a pain in the arse per year than anyone nice would be for staying nice a whole year long.

    Gorgeous to look at. Radiantly uplifting personality. An accent I could listen to all day. Ridiculously cool sense of style and fashion. Stunningly brilliant musical and artistic mind. 1990's Bjork was one of the most cool and appealing women of my generation.

    From the first time I heard the song “Birthday” from the Sugarcubes back in the 80’s, I immediately fell in love with Björk. Her singing voice is so special, and unique from any other singer I’ve ever heard. Just love her!

    1993 ... LEON had just been released on Laserdisc. Always reminds me of Bjork, that scene with her song as Leon and Matlida establish their daily routines together. Her music fit perfectly.

      Though surely, Leon was the perfect springboard into stardom for her.

      @@ObscuredReverie probably far too often in this world, super talented people are missed or passed by, simply by fate or a lack of luck! Take artists like Norman Rockwell, for instance! In my opinion (and it's a good opinion, I'm an ex professional illustrator), one of the BEST artists of the last 150 years. Up there with Dali in terms of technical skill. But hardly anyone knows who he is!
      Thanks to social media and UA-cam, now talented people can get known without the need to be "scouted" or "given a shot". But this is new, only in the last 15 years or so.
      So yeah I agree. Movies often gave people their magic ticket to stardom. A chance encounter etc.
      We're all the better for it.

    My brother was absolutely enamored with her in the 90s and got me into her music and I am forever grateful to him. She is such a beautiful person inside and out and her music is just wonderful. Her voice is unmatched and her quirkiness is about as adorable as it gets ❤

She was on Late Night in 1994, 1995, 1997, and on The Tonight Show with Conan in 2009. I think they're friends, so she might agree to visit him on the podcast, whether in person or by video.

    What a wonderful and beautiful interview. He was respectful and she was so laidback and as someone else said, it was just such a natural conversation and a sharp contrast to how many in the media have unfortunately treated Bjork over the past few decades.

    I've never seen Conan so held-back and intellectual, and I didn't know Bjork had such a strong British accent. I guess she dropped it later on.

      She moved to London to make 'Debut'. There are a lot of Cockney vowels in her voice during the 90s.

    Back in the early 90s when she worked with 808 State I was lucky enough to see her perform with them. That was a treat because I didn't expect her to come to So. Cal with 808. She wasnt advertised if I remember right.

      @@TheStuport indeed! He loves her! And they have been friends ever since. She appeared on his show multiple times, and that was rare for Bjork as she didn't love doing press tours.

    Conan is a great person. The last time I saw him we wound up speaking for a long time. He is passionate about the arts, especially music and treats people fairly.
