We already know how wrong can it all go at 'The Reef', but what about the bright side? How good can it get?
A sequel to the 'Dark Side of Deep Spearfishing'. The very bright opposite this time :)

I love your mentality when it comes to the sea. You're my spearfishing idol and many many people can learn from you tons of things that would benefit our environment. You have 5 good sized groupers in your face and you can just go away without pulling the trigger, while somebody else would of blindly shot the 1st grouper that comes in their face no matter the size.

With time I came to realise that its not about shooting the most fish. When you think about it, It doesn't really make you happy :) What makes me happy is when I set a new challenge and overcome it.
So sometimes I would agree (with myself) to shoot the most difficult fish (the one in the back) and only that particular fish. I can spend few hours trying to chase it :)
But remember, its not the shot that matters, its that second before the shot :)
I'm a fan of your videos as i am new to the sport. Free diving got me in to spearfishing and sustainability, i have not bought any seafood from commercial methods for over a year now which i am proud off. Great videos with informative commentary...keep it up.

I think that spearfishing is a much 'deeper' (mentally) activity than just shooting fish. Its an art on many levels. Or I wish people considered it an art. I definitely do :)

I am glad to receive such a comment, it means that I am on a right track. Having tons of subscribers is not the most important thing in life, but I am happy as long as I motivate some of you to get in the water OR/AND to want to get deeper :)

Great video Anvar and great restraint by not taking the shot..Sometimes you have to enjoy the ocean and the scenery instead of taking the shots..The fish will be there tomorrow :) keep posting this great videos

Unfortunately, human nature is often against 'not shooting'...
+Anvar Mufazalov Especially in Cyprus....every winterthe shallow waters are full of small groupers ...200-300 gramms...in the summer there is none...
Yeah, its sad.
Here you can see those 200-300gr rofo/pigga ending up on a restaurant shelf. However, the most sad thing is seing juvenile fish with the shot marks. I mean, we all are destructive to the sea, but i think we should try to keep our 'destructive-ness' under control.

Нырялка во Владике норм. Ждем Лакедру - точим гарпуны. Сейчас у нас сезон дождей, в июне всегда так. С июля начнется - Лакедра, Темный, Гипероглиф.

Love the ethical hunting! Too many people take the wrong mentality with them to the water because they want the biggest fish or they want the most fish which isn't always what getting out there is about. nice to see it done right
Thats the human nature, unfortunately. Its easier to just think 'now' and not worry about the future at all. But I think we both agree, that it is not the way to go...

This set of fins was a prototype so we were just playing around. They are softer than the original version, but it doesn't really affect the performance. Physically speaking, they should have a bit worse performance than the originals, but in real life the effect is negligible...

Although I do sometimes use mouthfill, there is no real need for it (for me at least). So I stick to Frenzel 95% of the time...

I believed you turned your C4 Urukay into a roller gun. Is that correct? Would you recommend it? I have a 120 Urukay too and love it as it came standard setu up.
Lastly, are the waters in Cyprus that clear most of the time?

Yes, it is. I had a 105 URU which is a great gun, but I wanted to make it a comfortable gun too. So I turned it into a roller, I have some photos on my facebook.

Absolutely! It was amazing. It didnt look like a standart roller, because the 'bottom' rubbers were actually on the top. So it looked like a 3 banded gun with a roller's performance.

I am not sure what is the standart setup, I got my gun from Filippo Anglani, you might know him. As a standart gun I didnt like it with 7mm shaft. It was okay with 7,5. But very good with a 8mm. But for a roller, 16mm Roller bands + 14mm traditional bands + 8mm shaft was AMAZING.

Yes, usually the visibility is around 30m. In some places it can be up to 40.
Anvar. In the morning of Brexit, it is a breadth of fresh air to hear and learn from your expert comments. After my outings with Victor Abellan in Ibiza I have also evolved into 8mm shaft and thinner bands with my URU.. Many thanks indeed for sharing again and taking the time, and will love one day to take you out in amazing Cyprus.
Yes, Brexit seems to be a new adventure of the EU :)
I think if there is a solid base (Uru, Oceanborn, heavy wood) then an 8mm is the best choice for a shaft. I am not talking about mullet spearfishing though :)
And then, once the 8mm is on, its the choice of bands. I did not see a drastic performance change between 2 and 3 *16mm bands, for example. So on my 120 gun I left a 8mm + 2*16mm (actually 15,5) bands. Just like Dentons120 back in a day :)

Lung capacity doesnt usually increase after a certain age, so dont bother. But, you can always work on your technique. Check out the Deep Spearfishing Encyclopedia, it has much more about it :)

Я был в Майами много лет назад, году в 2008, но на тот момент даже не догадывался, что под поверхностью моря может находиться целый мир :) А уже позже, на Кипре, снесло голову по поводу подводной охоты.
Мне кажется у вас рыбы больше, поэтому менее интересно :) Здесь, блин, можно за целый день так ничего и не увидеть... И каждая рыба, на вес золота :)
Но было бы здорово вместе понырять в Океане :)
