I mean, Chet leaked vods knowing the consequences and more importantly, benjy from what I can tell, didn't publically go out there being like "guys guys I bet 100 on T1" or something, presumably no one except benjy could have known and he came clean on his own. Chet was straight up distributing content that Riot specifically doesn't want you to. Besides, Benjy still bet on a different game, Riot understands this but still has to follow the rules because they can't be seen not enforcing their rules, if they allowed it, it's bad for PR and its very possible that it could be exploited later on.
chet is so annoying about it bro he knew he wasn't allowed to and did it anyways, what he did was way more severe than putting a minor bet on an entire separate esport

Under 18 in California requires you work less than 20 hours a week during school time specifically. During breaks you can do more I believe, but in general the labor laws would probably cause an issue.
ofc it’s more severe what Chet did. His was valorant related, benjys was not. Benjys decision doesn’t affect anyone. Chet didn’t get permission to stream something that involved another team. You keep saying scrims aren’t important, but always reference a teams potential based on their scrim performance. So obviously it holds some importance. Otherwise all the orgs would be just be messing around and not bother scrimming. You leak potential strategies that they could potentially be testing.
You could argue that objectively, chet’s situation was worse because the monetary value he got from breaking the rules was bigger than what benjyfishy got.
Noone in their right mind would assume betting on a completely different e-sport could be problematic. The guy even got fined! Chet is crazy and jealous, what he did with scrims was obviously wrong. Riot's punishment in both cases is a bit too harsh.
labor laws is not the reason. vct americas is based in cali and u can have a job at 16 in cali so im confused how labor laws are preventing them from making 17year old's eligible to play in vct. also if they are in challengers they are still working so make it make sense

idk what some people don't get about punishments relating to rule breaking. If you break a rule and INSTANTLY SELF REPORT, of course you gonna get less punishment. so ofc benjy gets less punishment than chet. I don't think Chet's punishment is fair because wasn't he streaming his own teams game so that's only rly a disadvantage for him? but maybe the other team too ig, it's not like he's leaking confidential info. (This is the same for the max vs Charles swearing drama in F1 😂)
This is so silly chets breach of conduct was not the same as benjys breach of conduct so different punishments should be given that’s just common sense
@ betting is not illegal it’s against riots code of conduct to bet on a riot title if he bet on a call of duty game nothing would have happened chets also broke the riot code of conduct by streaming a scrim game which is not for public viewing
Chet and Benjy both did dumb things, both got punished. The severety is different because their actions have different consequences. And as the cherry on top one owned up to it the other cried on the internet about it. Idk seems reasonable.
the 16+ argument is a little silly, if young players want to play pro valo, they can do so in t2 first (which is a more similar landscape to the way CS operates)
ICL the difference between what they did is huge, Chet leaked footage he would have known could have consequences from VCT teams, where as Benjy placed a low cost bet on a different title. Also Benjy came forwards himself to riot and donated more than what he earned from the bet.
The Chet ban is understandable. Benjy's case, I can see a bit of why they did it and I like that Benjy decided to admit it instead of hiding it. Don't get me wrong, betting on a different game shouldn't be an issue but it is what it is.
Is Chet stupid? What Chet did was way worse and Benjy came clean immediately.
