Artists are starting to realize that you can build a very strong fanbase--- even if it's only 50k-100k individuals. They are learning to cater to them and offer these high end luxury bundles and doing different things to make money. Guys like a Tom Macdonald are doing every little thing DIY right down to his girl handles the video treatments. He sells boatloads of limited edition merch and even sells different items worn or featured in the music videos/album covers. Banks constantly sells out his merch and that shit aint cheap from him. These guys sell out 1000 people venues and tour making damn good money. Look at dudes like Tom, Prof, Struggle Jennings, Yelawolf, Adam Calhoun, Dax, Upchurch, they have figured out how to do this without the labels or mainstream exposure. I can't wait till more artists start going this route.
Y’all never saw a rapper sell a mixtape for $100!!! Mixtapes use to be free and ALBUMS only went for 14:99 at the most…plus this is LLOYD BANKS IN 2023!!! Music has changed since his time
Folks will buy a 60 dollar game and then buy the same game almost every year. Full price too, but a rapper ask 100 and all of a sudden it's outta the question. Some games were coming out with bundles at least 120.
Was good you all...Shout from Va Beach 757...thats facts as artist we need to sell our music for a reasonable amount....I find it daunting these major labels be selling a 16 track project for $4.99.......My vocal chain what I use to record in my home studio is about $15k......and I haven't even factored in the mixing, mastering, marketing, etc etc
Banks is tuff but nah bro. Art that is mass produced is worthless. And let's be honest. He not putting out music that's super crazy. We like it because it's banks and he is being consistent. Basically what I'm saying his last couple projects not leading up to a $100 mixtape. Hope it works out for him tho
If 500 people buy that $100 project across the world, that is money. And I am sure more than 500 people would buy it. I don't think this is a bad idea at all.
$100 bucks to listen to a 50 yr old rap is ridiculous. There is nothing that you can say to make me be like oh that line was hot, here's $100. And I'm 45, so I'm not hating on the old heads!
I think music should be like paintings. This shit is original and from me, I can ask for what I want money wise but music now is so mass produced. It’s like buying art from an artist vs going into target and getting a painting that is mass produced the Live, Laugh, Grow shit is what music is now.
I don’t care what kind of righteous, artistic spin they tryna put on this, $100 for a mixtape is crazy. FOH. I stand on that. Cue the “you a broke nigga” comments in 3….2…👉🏾
I rode on the God damn bus when I was a youngster to the mall just to go buy his Rotten Apple album and couldn’t wait to get home and listen to it.I would def drop a 100 now that I’m older.I just want him to use different beats with a more up beat tempo.he could easily blow anytime if he just picked beats like Beamer Benz or Bentley.
Lloyd Banks has a loyal fan base that'll buy it. Believe it or not he's that good of an artist. His music is timeless had i known AON was gonna be as good as it is i would've paid $200 for it.
You mean to tell me somebody gonna pay $100 for a mixtape that took 3days to complete instead of a full album? I can see if it was an actual album and even that’s crazy. I don’t like paying $100 for sneakers definitely not music
lol that's a huge part of why music especially hiphop sales have gone down. when you spend no time to put out a project and you just freestyle it while high on weed and alcohol. then brag about you dont write and the records actually sound like you didnt take time to write them; lol out of 12 songs only one is manageable. we all gonna treat it in a disposable manner and get it for free. haven't paid for an album in almost 20 years.
It's more about supporting the artist, on that fine art tip. Indie rappers with a solid fan base pull this off alot. I mean Mach Hommy literally sold HBO for 300 a pop and fans were copping it. Solid fans will support Banks
@@Jrfusion08 dont know exact numbers, but I remember reading he once pressed 187 copies for 300 a pop and they all sold out. He sold them via the gram. That's excluding the cassette tapes and that vinyl and lighter pack

If you follow the pod, you can tell they think it’s mid..when they don’t break the album down, or they quickly say they heard it….thats code for….meh, especially when it’s someone they like
@@TheAlkebulanTrust Regular in comparison to his previous work Smarty Pants…and yes‼️The 1 Halloween Havocs and Cold Corner 1 and 2 are both fire‼️Let’s not even get into the GUnit tapes and Freestyles period, “Return of the Body Snatchers” and allat. He was way better. You can tell he changed his flow and how he attacks the track. And I get it, But change is not always better. You can adapt to the times without changing your core attributes. For ex. Hov, Cole, Em, Wayne, Jada, Fab and so on and so on
I stream Banks, at the very least, 500 times a month. That's 6,000 for the year to listen to all his projects he has on streaming. I have Tidal, which pays artists, on the low end, $0.0125 per stream, that's $75 for the year I'm giving to my favorite artists. I pay $15 a month for my subscription, $180 for the year. So if Banks wants to drop a tape for $100 I'm buying two! 😤👑🐐💯
I have been bootlegging CD’s and tapes since the early 90’s. I will be continuing that trend for the Banks Album. In the words of Lavar Ball- “Never Lost!!!”
I like Lloyd banks but I could barely understand him.. I don’t know if his voice too low making his bars sound muffled. 🤷🏾♂️… but let’s be serious.. nobody can’t justify to me spending 100 dollars on recorded sounds and words. Gtfoh
The issue is once you buy a particular artist album for 10bucks or streamed it for free its hard to up the price after years of being in the game and the harsh reality most rappers that come to this realization dont catch on to the math til their no longer top of the charts and people kinda forgot about them ,for the ones that got a cold core audience they can be winning
Banks gotta rest his feet on Nipsey's shoulders on this one. Everyone thought Nipsey was crazy for charging a 100 for his mixtape until Hov brought a 100 copies.
How many rappers 20 years ago were making $350,000+ a year off of music sales? When you see what counts as a stream.. those numbers may not be too bad. This is the richest the rap community has ever been as a whole. And I'm pretty sure it is largely due to streaming. People are getting heard from listeners just popping up on their music. Way more ears listening than they got before
This conversation is necessary when you love the arts. It's exciting to see Rap is entering and climbing it's way to this "Exclusive Priceless Art" position.
It's only crazy to the normal folks who don't have their heads up their ass because they have money. If you have it, spend it. It's your money, but to say this ain't crazy in this day and age is stupid.

Music has changed since his time
We not getting a pod today 😢
If you dnt pay
@@BagjudahI pay. There’s still no pod up
@@Bagjudah Ive been a patronie for years since he put it on there
@@Bagjudah last one I got was yesterday. It’s been a slice
No matter how they flip it 100 is ridiculous for an album. If you can sucker your fans to pay it more power to you. Couldn’t be me
Folks will buy a 60 dollar game and then buy the same game almost every year. Full price too, but a rapper ask 100 and all of a sudden it's outta the question. Some games were coming out with bundles at least 120.
@@Bee_Mavrickstop comparing a game and a mixtape
@@Bee_Mavrickhorrible comparison
Was good you all...Shout from Va Beach 757...thats facts as artist we need to sell our music for a reasonable amount....I find it daunting these major labels be selling a 16 track project for $4.99.......My vocal chain what I use to record in my home studio is about $15k......and I haven't even factored in the mixing, mastering, marketing, etc etc
Banks charging $100 is craaaazy
Not really ppl pay tht for pants why not for art
I can wear pants I can't wear his music. 👖 Are a basic necessity. Clothes, food, water, utility bills, house note, car note.
@@Kassomadeit are you serious or trolling ?
He's 41 so you're his senior lol
I think music should be like paintings. This shit is original and from me, I can ask for what I want money wise but music now is so mass produced. It’s like buying art from an artist vs going into target and getting a painting that is mass produced the Live, Laugh, Grow shit is what music is now.
Banks is a 🐐 c’mon. Lyrically there aren’t much artists seeing him, most just don’t listen to him 🤷🏿♂️
Artists should push more interesting pricing and distribution. Respect to Banks for getting on his Nip shit. Hope it works out well for him.
I don’t care what kind of righteous, artistic spin they tryna put on this, $100 for a mixtape is crazy. FOH. I stand on that. Cue the “you a broke nigga” comments in 3….2…👉🏾
No. It’s crazy in any era
Bottom line is we need to start supporting and controlling our own shit period
Shows that what 50 said about him being out of touch is so true
I wouldn’t even listen for free. 😂
Man Nipsey Hussle did it first with the Proud to Pay “CRENSHAW” mixtape 💪🏾👑💙🏁
Yea Banks ain't Nip tho I can't see paying 100 for a Banks mixtape
Crenshaw was amazing
@@biggdough1 … I always liked Bank$.. The packaging and delivery of this mixtape has to be A-1..
Banks cool I hope it works for him but he's not Bucc or nothin tho
Somebody get parks a camera. He always got something to add 😂😂😂😂
Sounds good to me. The die-hard fans pay for fans like me
I rode on the God damn bus when I was a youngster to the mall just to go buy his Rotten Apple album and couldn’t wait to get home and listen to it.I would def drop a 100 now that I’m older.I just want him to use different beats with a more up beat tempo.he could easily blow anytime if he just picked beats like Beamer Benz or Bentley.
How many fans bought HBO at 300 a pop?
He's not Mach Hommys accountant. How would he know? @@Jrfusion08
@@Jrfusion08 dont know exact numbers, but I remember reading he once pressed 187 copies for 300 a pop and they all sold out. He sold them via the gram. That's excluding the cassette tapes and that vinyl and lighter pack
Its still gone end up on interwebs for free
The album come with merch or something?
The last album I actually purchased was Get Rich Or Die Trying. I will never pay for music when I can listen to on UA-cam for free
Great information. Thanks
😮 paying $0.99 for a album is crazy to me.
😮
Albums aren’t .99 Individual songs might be though. $10-$12 for an album is a reasonable price. They use to be like 15-20 something dollars on Average back in the day

I just have an issue with ppl bashing him for it.. take urself out of a workers mindset and understand that some ppl have to live off of their craft.. we don’t all punch a clock( I punch one and work for myself)
Hip hop is down 40 percent and keeps going lower charge 100$ and watch it die slow
His fan base is solid trust me Banks is good
I grew up with Limewire bruh. Im not PAYING for music unless its a damn Vinyl
How dare yall release right now when paying Patreon supporters not only dont have an episode out right now, it’s gonna be watered down and edited. Like YALL say. I PAY. So I can complain!
Regardless if you like banks or not he deserves this. Made his debut in a classic group as a standout artist, He put out a bunch of free music, build his core fanbase, He deserves his flowers.
Deserves it for wat?
You people say people are lucky the artists show up to their shows… and in the same show say these artists deserved to be pay 100+ dollars for an album… crazy.
Not every song because it’s certain albums and songs that isn’t on streaming which is why I love collecting cds
Nipsey did it back in the day & it sold amazing cuz he has loyal fan base and a movement. He did it before he even had an album
I hate the hype..shit corny…this Banks is OK at best. His old tapes is timeless‼️This is regular…last couple tapes was regular. We gotta keep it 1000. That’s the problem in this world today. Your a villain for having an honest critique and it’s not “positive”. People need to get over themself
Regular in comparison to who? Did he set the bar that high for you that you think he should still sound the same as back then
If you follow the pod, you can tell they think it’s mid..when they don’t break the album down, or they quickly say they heard it….thats code for….meh, especially when it’s someone they like
@@TheAlkebulanTrust Regular in comparison to his previous work Smarty Pants…and yes‼️The 1 Halloween Havocs and Cold Corner 1 and 2 are both fire‼️Let’s not even get into the GUnit tapes and Freestyles period, “Return of the Body Snatchers” and allat. He was way better. You can tell he changed his flow and how he attacks the track. And I get it, But change is not always better. You can adapt to the times without changing your core attributes. For ex. Hov, Cole, Em, Wayne, Jada, Fab and so on and so on
All this tapes are quality and timeless you can listen for free or pay. People whining but would do the same thing if could.
S/0 NIPSEY first one to sale a mixtape for 100$
I like Lloyd banks but I could barely understand him..
It's cool but too many stories of banks resting on his lorals from. 50
Way more ears listening than they got before
Ain't no money in streams. The numbers google shows is incorrect ...you need a million streams just to make $150
@@michaeljarrod9858 Cap
A lot of these rappers are broke.
This conversation is necessary when you love the arts. It's exciting to see Rap is entering and climbing it's way to this "Exclusive Priceless Art" position.
keep drinking that kool aid.
people will pay more than that for original/rare/hard to find records lol
The average price per stream is $0.004. $4 for every 1,000 streams. $4000 for each million streams.
I'll absolutely buy Joe project for whatever price. Just hope it'll give SLL, ALL, and mood musik vibes
Where them links to download it fah free?
Dope hes going the Hussle route. Wish Banks much success
It's only crazy to the normal folks who don't have their heads up their ass because they have money. If you have it, spend it. It's your money, but to say this ain't crazy in this day and age is stupid.
Its not crazy.
Do you get a CD or Album for $100? Or just a download? I think that sould make a difference
Since Nipsey died they all want to get paid for mixtapes
This was an amazing discussion to watch
So basically sell your music very expensive so only your DieHard fan suffer
I pay 13.99 for youtube to let me listen to audio while my phone sleep sooooo i,ll just wait til it's posted on here... that's included in my 13.99 😅
Great point it’s the cheapest Art but it’s brilliant and powerful . Words cut deeper than swords
For music to sell at that high a price, it has to be non fungible and irreplaceable 💰
If Beyonce can charge $2500 for a concert ticket...why cant he charge $100 for his album?
he’s not on the level of Beyoncé.
100 dollars for a mixtape I love banks but 100 bucks 2 hear a few songs math don't add up
He’s listening to that “ if you have 1,000 fans and charge them $100 each. Boom your rich “ advice
No way I'd pay $100 for a Michael Jackson or Nas album. Never! And no one like Banks more than i love them
Why are we acting as if he is the first to implement the $100 mixtape and/or album marketing idea?!
Whoever pay 100 is gonna be asking for a refund as soon as they hear it 🤣
No you won’t…it’s about supporting someone. People pay that for a dinner date, and it’s trash and don’t get a refund
@@djnes2k7 yeah but it’s not a dinner date is it
