FEATURED COCKTAIL: Saxon (white rum, lime juice, grenadine syrup, orange peel); the mocktail is pomegranate juice and lime juice, garnished with mint. For the complete recipes, visit Frick.org/cocktails.

Hello from Sacramento, CA, where I’m part of the Crocker Art Museum Docent 20-21 class. It was suggested we watch this, which I will watch again...I enjoyed the detail that much. I also subscribed to the Frick for more informative and fascinating art tours.

The stories behind the artwork and objects are fascinating. An object like the teapot is something that I would ordinarily pass by without so much as a glance. Thank you for helping me come to la better understanding of the works, not only at the Frick, but at other collections.

I think the thing that amazes me most about this series of videos is the depth and breath of the scholarship with which it has been wrought. How do you all have command of so many amazing facts? Breathtaking! Each one of these videos is a veritable Russian novel of unexpected detail, plot twists and endless unpronounceable character names to track. What viewers THINK we might be getting into bears no resemblance whatsoever to the delicious tale that in the end we are presented with. I am in awe.

I totally agree! By the way, I sometimes select the closed captions [CC] so I can see how those unpronounceable names are spelled.

As a potter this was a wonderful history - as an art lover, this was love. Thank you again, Xavier!

Enjoyed the video. When the children left and we changed the locks on the doors, my wife bought a place setting for 8 of Dresden Porcelain. While nothing like the pot; we use it every day for just the two of us.
And yes! The food tastes so much better.

Traveling and getting educated while in quarantine thanks to Mr Salomon has been a fantastic experience. I live in Puerto Rico and receive these wonderful lectures thanks to a friend in NYC who has been so kind as to share them with me. I have visited the museum many times when I lived in NY and look forward to returning someday soon. Please know that your efforts are most appreciated. AND please do visit Egypt one day. It is a most fascinating country.

Having visited Dresden and Meissen I really enjoyed your account of the discovery of porcelain and especially the Dragoon vases. You brought back wonderful memories - if only I could return, and revisit the Frick too with fresh eyes. A big thank you. Please keep relating these wonderful art histories.

Salomon creatively transformed a simple reddish brown teapot into an exotic creature. I say creature because this discussion infuses life into this object. And to think I almost skipped this lecture thinking, in error, that it might be dull. It was the best yet.
